Britain’s Got Talent judge and Heart Radio presenter Amanda Holden shared how marking the special day sparked tears, after issuing an on-air plea to her husband

Amanda Holden said she was left in tears on Friday as she marked a special day. Ahead of hosting the latest edition of Heart Breakfast, the presenter took to her Instagram page to pay tribute to her youngest daughter Hollie on her 14th birthday.

Alongside a recent picture, one from her childhood and a video of her running around aged two, Amanda wrote: “Our little HRH turns 14 today.

“Our firecracker – our very sassy, hugely talented Hollie!! We love you darling Hollie Rose Hughes.”

Discussing her daughter’s birthday with her co-star Jamie Theakston, the 54-year-old admitted looking back on Hollie’s childhood memories had made her emotional.

She told listeners: “Hollie is 14 today, I can’t believe it. I just posted something where the last [post] is this really cute video of her – she must just be two.

“And I was looking at it crying in the car this morning thinking, ‘Why couldn’t you have stayed like that?’”

Amanda went on to say she believed the toddler stage was the best age, joking: “She loved me. She didn’t wear dresses that didn’t sort of show her midriff or her bottom, she didn’t nick my make-up – you know, she was just a genuinely lovely person.

“She’s really good fun, but you know, if you’re a mother of a teenager, you will just know at the moment,” she added.

Amanda shares Hollie and Lexi, 20, with her long-term husband Chris Hughes.

The couple tragically lost their second child, Theo, in 2011 after he was stillborn, before going on to welcome Hollie the following year.

In a recent admission on the show, she said she wished she had met Chris sooner and had more children.

Speaking to Jamie and Ashley Roberts, Amanda confessed: “Oh I would’ve had loads if I had met Chris earlier, I would’ve had loads.

“I would’ve gone for four I think, but yeah I’m going to say we had three – we ended up with two, if you know what I mean.”

After confirming that more children are off the cards, Amanda said she would love to rescue more animals instead.

Making an on-air plea to her spouse, she shared: “[We’ve got] lots of furry babies – I’m going to have to talk to Chris because I really want to rescue another puppy, and if he’s listening and it goes out on air, it’ll be very difficult for him to turn me down.”

The couple are already proud owners of rescue dog Rudie and Muffy the cat from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Last year, the Britain’s Got Talent judge also brought home another cat, named Bolt, after falling in love with him during a holiday in Greece.
