Alon Aboutboul, 60, passed away after being pulled from a popular tourist beach by the waves. In Christopher Nolan’s final Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, Alon played Dr. Pavel.
On Tuesday morning, he emerged from the water on HaBonim Beach in Tel Aviv. Before collapsing, he admitted to feeling unwell to onlookers.
Despite attempting to revive him for an hour, paramedics arrived on the scene but were unable to revive him. Alon’s wife and four children are left by his side at this time, but the cause of death is still unknown.
Israeli Minister of Culture and Sport Miki Zohar wrote a tribute on Facebook that read, “Last night I watched an interview with him, where he discussed filming a movie he recently participated in, and the passion for the profession that radiated from him was obvious even after so many years in the field.
Alon, who won both the Ophir Award and the Television Academy Award, “made a significant impact on Israeli culture by portraying a range of characters with depth and emotion over the years.” May God bless his memory.
