
Sarumi Samusudeen Babafemi, an associate of alleged internet thief Ismaila Mustapha, was arraigned on Tuesday by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, Lagos.
Contraventioning Section 332 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 and punishable by Section 332 (3) of the same law, Babafemi’s companies, 606 Autos Limited, 606 Music Limited, and Splash Off Entertainment Limited, were arraigned on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, concealment, and the transfer of proceeds of crime to the tune of N206, 000 (Two Hundred and Six Million Naira.
The defendant entered a “not guilty” plea with Justice Rahman Oshodi regarding the charge that was brought against him.
Ayanfe Ogunsina, the prosecution’s attorney, requested that the trial begin on a date and that the defendant be remanded in a correctional facility in light of the defendant’s “not guilty” plea.

However, Kunle Adegoke (SAN), the defense attorney, informed the court that he had already worked overnight to prepare an application for bail, which was already being processed. He had only received the charge the day before.
He assured the court that he would present the defendant on the next adjourned date and that the judge should release him.
Justice Oshodi approved the request and mandated that the defendant’s attorney be given access to his attorney upon the filing of an affidavit of undertaking to produce him in court on the following day.
The trial’s start has been delayed until March 24, 2026, so watch this space.
