With the victory of their home MotoGP Grand Prix in Catalonia, Alex Marquez put an end to his brother Marc’s seven-race winning streak.

After Alex had lost the lead after four laps, Marc, who has won ten of the previous 14 Grands Prix this season, had taken the victory in the sprint race on Saturday.

However, the 29-year-old qualified in pole position in the main race without making the same error.

Marc, the championship leader, had already surpassed Alex and second-placed Frenchman Fabio Quartararo on his Ducati at the corner, even though they were third in the grid.

On the fourth lap, Alex took second place and continued until the chequered flag, still 182 points behind his brother in the title race.

Alex, a Ducati satellite team called Gresini Racing, said, “It feels so good.”

“Today, I was riding my bike and said, “This one needs to go home.” The team is fantastic, I’m so happy.

“I’m happy for Ducati and Alex, and I’m happy for Ducati,” Marc, the six-time world champion, continued.

Enea Bastianini of Italy placed third on his KTM, earning his first podium finish of the year.
