In collaboration with Google Cloud, Al Jazeera Media Network introduces a new integrative artificial intelligence (AI) model.
Al Jazeera announced on Sunday that its partnership with Google Cloud for its new initiative, dubbed “The Core,” will incorporate AI into its news operations.
According to Al Jazeera, “The Core” aims to make AI “an active partner in journalism” rather than a passive tool.
The initiative, which focuses on six pillars, will incorporate AI systems to, among other things, automate internal workflows, process complex data, and create immersive content.
Sheikh Nasser bin Faisal Al Thani, director general of Al Jazeera Media Network, stated that “Al Jazeera is committed to establishing a global technological ecosystem that cements our leadership in the AI era.”
According to Al Thani, “The Core” is the epitome of this vision: it is an integrated model that combines human expertise and artificial intelligence to modernize journalism.
“Google Cloud is the ideal partner to help us execute this ambitious transformation, ensuring that our journalism remains agile, accurate, and deeply engaging for our global audience.”
The decision to create “The Core” platform by Al Jazeera was lauded as a “pivotal step in developing the next generation of intelligent media,” said Alex Rutter, Google Cloud’s managing director for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
“This transformative program uses our cutting-edge AI to reshape how journalists produce and distribute news and how audiences consume it. According to Rutter, Google Cloud and Al Jazeera are “creating a new direction for digital journalism.”
