Michelle Agyemang, an England international, has been named the 2025 BBC Young Sports Activist of the Year.
Just three months after making her senior international debut, the 19-year-old helped the Lionesses win Euro 2025 in Switzerland.
In the quarter-final victory over Sweden and the semi-final victory over Italy, she scored crucial late equalizers off the bench at the Euros.
She won the Golden Girl trophy for the best young player in Europe after her interventions and was later named young player of the tournament.
“Wow. I appreciate you so much. I’m so appreciative. I’m so appreciative of all of my teammates and coaches,” Agyemang said after receiving the award on Thursday.
I love my family, who have been there for me throughout my career and the entire year.
God I give you a big thank you for this opportunity. I’m so appreciative.
Agyemang’s nomination for the best under-21 female player in the world was also included in the Kopa Trophy.
Since September 2024, she has been on loan from Arsenal to Brighton, with the Seagulls resigning her after her success with England.
She led Brighton to its fifth place finish in the Women’s Super League last season with five goals in 22 appearances, which was her highest honor in the division.
