Owen Cooper became the youngest-ever recipient of the Best Supporting Actor in Television award at the Golden Globes on Sunday, beating the likes of Jason Isaacs
Owen Cooper has come to a “crucial” crossroads in his showbiz journey — and must take the right advice to continue his success, a source claimed.
The teenager was delighted to become the youngest-ever recipient of the Best Supporting Actor in Television award at the Golden Globes on Sunday. His performance in Netflix hit Adolescence defeated the likes of Jason Isaacs, Billy Crudup and his own castmate Ashley Walters.
Since then, Cooper, 16, has already been in drama Film Club and has recorded Wuthering Heights, which is due for release later this year. However, he has now been warned of the perils of “one of the most ruthless businesses there is” as he continues to venture his way into the showbiz landscape.
It is said the actor, from Warrington, Cheshire, will have to make some massive decisions in the coming years, the consequences of which could be momentous.

“What happens next in this 16-year-old’s life is crucial… Let’s face it, Tinseltown is one of the most ruthless businesses there is. Appear in a smash hit and everyone wants to know you,” wrote journalist Jane Moore in The Sun.
“Hollywood’s history is littered with child stars who will tell you that all it takes is some bad advice and a couple of turkeys to find yourself dropping off the invite list.”
But Adolescence was far from such a flop, having been widely praised for its directing, writing, and cinematography. One of the most streamed Netflix shows of 2025, the programme was described as “the closest thing to TV perfection in decades” by one experienced newspaper critic.
And Jane, a regular face on Loose Women, also lauded the drama, but urged Cooper and those around the teen to take a careful path as he attempts to further his success. In her column, she added: “Owen’s devoted parents chaperoned him on the night, so he clearly has a loving support network behind him. That gives him a better chance than some of navigating the choppy twists and turns of life in the spotlight.”
But fans noted Cooper appeared grounded after he was pictured lifting his award at the ceremony. In his speech, the humble schoolboy said he was “still very much an apprentice” and “learning every day” in what is an immensely competitive industry.
