With just six weeks to before before Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay’s wedding, snubbed mum Caroline Peaty has opened up about the engagement party slight that saw her pull Gordon Ramsay for a chat after speeches were made
Heartbroken Caroline Peaty has spoken out about her despair over the family rift, which has seen her uninvited to son Adam Peaty’s wedding. And the devastated mother-of-the-groom made her feelings known at the engagement party, in a tense chat with her famous future in-law, Gordon Ramsay.
Caroline, 59, was initially overjoyed to learn that Olympian Adam was engaged to Holly Ramsay, the influencer daughter of the TV chef. But things soon took an unpleasant turn after the former nursery manager was allegedly left out of Holly’s chic Soho Farmhouse hen do.
Caroline’s protective sister, Louise Williams, proceeded to address 25-year-old Holly in a very public social media post, declaring, ‘You have inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever.” Matters have since escalated from there, and Caroline, who dedicated herself to supporting her son’s swimming career, says she will no longer be welcome at Adam’s wedding at Bath Abbey next month.

Caroline, of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, told how she’d first met Holly shortly before last year’s Paris Olympics. During this meeting, her future daughter-in-law reassured her when she expressed fears about Adam, 30, pulling away from the Peaty clan, as he became increasingly immersed in the glamorous world of the Ramsays.
Then, in September 2024, Adam and Holly announced they were engaged, and proud mum Caroline couldn’t have been happier to learn that his son had found his “soulmate”. However, cracks started to emerge at the engagement party, to which she claimed that wider family members of the Peaty family weren’t invited.
Making her feelings known, Caroline messaged Holly directly, telling Mail Online: “I told her, ‘you know how important family is to you, as it is to me. My sisters are not coming to the party, they have been there all through Adam’s life…'”
Although Caroline says she did her best to remain polite and diplomatic with this sensitive message, Adam apparently wasn’t best pleased. Then, after speeches were given at the engagement party, Caroline approached Gordon in a tense conversation, assuring him, “There was nothing horrible in those messages”.
In the same interview, Caroline expressed concerns over how influential the Ramsays are in comparison to the working-class Peatys, with ordinary boy done good Adam now navigating a very different social sphere. Caroline claimed, “He’s in Gordon’s clutches. I can’t help but feel like they are pulling him away from me. Their family is very insular.”
Although Adam’s father, Mark, was absent from the Budapest stag do, future father-in-law Gordon was very much a part of the boys’ weekend, and it’s understood the TV chef won’t “take any nonsense” from the Peaty family. According to a previous report by the Mail Online, an insider has revealed he will be engaging his “top PR machine” to ensure that nothing will “ruin his beloved daughter’s wedding”.
