It’s just over one month before Adam Peaty says ‘I do’ to Holly Ramsay at a grand Christmas Day wedding ceremony, but chaos has erupted this week over a family fall-out

The Peaty family is said to be in turmoil just weeks before Adam Peaty’s wedding to Holly Ramsay, with devoted mum Caroline Peaty “heartbroken” after reportedly being “banned” from the grand Christmas Day nuptials at Bath Abbey. But this isn’t the first time the Peatys have had to deal with heartache.

Brewing tensions erupted after the Olympian’s mother was mysteriously left out of influencer Holly’s glamorous hen do at Soho Farmhouse, and her sister Louise Williams has not held back on the apparent snub. Addressing Holly directly via social media, Adam’s aunt wrote: “I expected better of you and definitely of Adam. You have inflicted a hurt on my sister that will take a very long time to heal if ever.”

Elsewhere, Louise claimed that Adam, 30, and Holly, 25, banned Caroline from the wedding because she did not apologise for not attending a recent family trip to Bath due to cancelled trains. The gold medallist has also allegedly barred his mum from seeing her grandson, George. It’s now believed that Adam’s sister, Bethany, will be the only family member from his side to watch him tie the knot, as many of those invited were reportedly unable to afford the cost of accommodation and travel.

Here, the Mirror takes a look at some of the other heartaches that have plagued the Peaty clan…

Adam’s troubling spiral

On New Year’s Eve 2022, Adam described the year that had just passed as having been the “toughest” of his life, in a candid post about his “demons”. The swimmer wrote: “I wasn’t going to say anything, but 2022 was the toughest year of my life so far. Mentally and physically, it has pushed me every day, and from injury to personal issues, it has forced me to grow. I have so much to be thankful for, such as the great team around me, but also the amazing people, such as my family and friends. My boy is happy and healthy, and that is all I can ask for; @eirimunro I couldn’t ask for a better mother for George.

“Life is never going to be easy, and it can get exhausting when you have to tell your demons to p**s off when they’re roaming around your head. I welcome 2023 and its lessons. LFG.”

Back in 2020, Adam opened up to the Mail Online about reaching his ‘deepest low’ after the 2018 Commonwealth Games, which saw him take a loss in the 50m race. Known for his extraordinary speed, Adam suddenly became plagued by self-doubt, admitting: “There wasn’t really that much belief in myself.”

It was then that Adam started to spiral, turning to booze and partying instead of his great love of swimming. He confided, “After the Commonwealths, towards the end of the year, I didn’t have any races. And when you involve off-season and you involve partying and drinking, that’s a depressant in itself, so I was doing that a lot. I kind of, not went off the rails, but I didn’t really have that overwhelming motivation to perform at something. And I am a performer, so if I don’t have something to perform at, I completely lose my track.

“Add that in with all that partying and stuff, it wasn’t that great to have that all at once. Then you are on this low where you can’t really enjoy anything, you don’t really see the point of buying nice things or doing nice things, because you don’t get a high out of it any more. It took a long while to recognise what was important to me and what wasn’t. I have found that thankfully now. I know exactly how to treat my body, how to treat my mind, and it’s not by forcing alcohol as much as you can.”

Brotherly fall-out

Adam and his brother Jamie fell out in 2021 following the release of the former Strictly Come Dancing star’s autobiography, in which he addressed his siblings’ “demons”, including previous drug usage. However, they soon moved past this, and Jamie was said to have been asked to be a groomsman at the upcoming wedding.

Sadly, their bond broke down again in June this year, when James was working on a building project for Adam. A source claims that since Adam’s engagement, their relationship had hit an all-time low. James was said to have been “upset” about the comments Adam made in his autobiography, which saw him portrayed as a “bum”.

This week it emerged that James has been arrested over allegations he sent threats to the sportsman during his stag weekend. Earlier this week, Adam, 30, was met by police as he arrived at Manchester Airport following his stag do in Budapest. But while in Budapest, with his future father-in-law, Adam was said to have become alarmed after receiving text messages, with Holly alerting the police. His older brother, James, 34, was arrested at his home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, on Monday and has since been bailed.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “We arrested a 34-year-old man, from the Uttoxeter area, on November 11, 2025, on suspicion of harassment. The man was released on conditional bail while our enquiries continue.”

Meanwhile, Adam’s dad has now spoken out for the first time, saying things have gotten out of hand between the family. Mark told The Sun: “They’re brothers, they’ve always been close, but like any normal family, brothers fight, argue, fall out, make up and start all over again.

“But it’s got out of hand, there’s been very little empathy towards Jamie’s genuine mental health difficulties.” A source told the same newspaper that Adam believes his mother, Caroline, has been enabling Jamie’s alleged behaviour. They went on to state it was “ridiculous” that Adam was greeted by police, as Jamie had no intentions of harming his brother.

Sad break-up

Before finding love with Holly, Adam was in a three-year relationship with Eirianned Munro, a Welsh artist he met while training at Loughborough University. At that time, Eirianned, now 27, was just starting out in her creative career, studying for a degree in Fine Art.

Sparks flew, and Holly and Adam began dating in 2019. The following year, the young couple welcomed their son George, now five, with Adam often sharing happy family snaps in between his gruelling training schedule.

In August 2022, Adam announced that they had decided to part ways after a “wonderful three years together”. Taking to Instagram at the time, Adam wrote: “Eiri and I have decided to go our separate ways. We have enjoyed a wonderful three years together, 2 of those with our gorgeous son George.

“Our priority has always been to provide the happiest and healthiest home environment for him, and right now that means ending our romantic relationship. I could not ask for a greater mother for George, and I am so grateful to Eiri for her amazing support over the last three years.

“Eiri and George, I’m sorry for letting you down. My only interest is for the well-being of our family at this difficult time, so I ask that our privacy is respected, and I won’t be saying anything further.”

Opening up to The Sun on Sunday in 2024, Eirianned, who has remained on good terms with the father of her child, revealed that Adam’s time on Strictly Come Dancing marked “the beginning of the end” of their romantic relationship, remembering this as a “lonely” time.

She reflected: “I think it helped us realise what we wanted in life. Sadly, if it wasn’t for Strictly, it would’ve been something else. I’m grateful we found out we were not meant for each other sooner rather than later, for the sake of our young son.”

In another interview with the Mail Online, Eirianned spoke warmly about Adam’s now-fiancée, Holly, praising her as “nothing but a positive presence in our lives”. She added, “She is so gentle and kind, I couldn’t wish for a better stepmother for my son. We’re so glad about the news and are wishing them the best.”

More recently, however, a source has claimed to the Sun that Eiri, who lives in Wales with her sister and George, is “shocked” by the recent family row, and wants no part in it. Emphasising that Eiri remains close with Adam’s mum, Caroline, the source said: “She has George living with her and has done an incredible job at raising him. She’s an amazing mum. It’s a far cry from Adam’s life with Holly Ramsay, but she’s really happy.

“Eiri would never speak badly of Adam – he has provided for their son and helped ensure he has a very comfortable life. She is also a big fan of Holly. But she is shocked by everything that’s been going on.”

On August 23 of this year, devoted grandmother Caroline opened up about the devastating loss of her young grandson Joshua, sharing poignant images of a set of tiny handprints and footprints. Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “Today is the first anniversary of the passing of our grandson Joshua x I held you in my arms and felt enormous love, but also tremendous loss of what could have been x We never got to know you, but we loved you even before you were born x

“God loved you more and wanted you back x We think of you every day, Joshua, but we have comfort that you are in God’s care and with our loved ones in heaven x We will meet again, and I will gather you in my arms and catch up on all the cuddles that I missed x.”
