Kayode Peters, a Nigerian filmmaker, actor, and producer, has passed away. His family claims that he passed away in Toronto, Canada, on Saturday morning.
The actor’s family revealed that he had a long-standing illness before passing away in a post on his official Instagram page.
The family pleaded for calm and privacy while making funeral arrangements, promising to provide more information as needed.

The post reads, “With deep sadness, we are sad to announce the passing of our beloved Kayode Peters Adewumi, who passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, in Toronto, Canada.
“KP persevered, fought, and passed his long illness until this morning.”
KP was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, friend, and talented filmmaker who worked with many people as an actor and producer. Beyond his talent, his kindness, warmth, and generous spirit were what truly defined him.
He will be greatly missed, both on and off the screen, and he touched many lives.
We kindly request kindness and privacy while making arrangements for his funeral and healing as we grieve this agonizing loss. In due course, additional information will be shared.

With his outstanding performance in “Extended Family” as well as other numerous stage plays and sitcoms, Peters established himself as a key figure in the contemporary theatre and television industry in Nigeria.
