‘A joy to play with’ – Tounekti stars again for Celtic

Sebastian Tounekti, a Celtic new boy, won two player of the match awards.

The winger, who was acquired from Hammarby on deadline day, has had an impressive start to life in Scottish football.

Tounekti was a constant threat in Celtic’s 4-0 victory over Partick Thistle as he made his debut against Kilmarnock last weekend, demanding the ball, kicking at defenders, and combining nicely with Kelechi Iheanacho for his first goal in green and white.

Manager Brendan Rodgers gave him a big cuddle after an hour, which shows how important he has become to Celtic in such a short period of time as well as how well-rounded he was at Firhill.

Rodgers has discussed recruiting players who raise Celtic’s ceiling, who are the real difference-maker, for the past two years.

Tounekti appears to be exactly that, based on the few pieces of evidence we have seen.

Rodgers described him on Premier Sports as “so good.”

Celtic’s attack appeared uninspired and unprepared before Tounekti’s arrival. In the goalless draw at Rangers, they had just two shots on target and failed to defeat Kairat Almaty in both matches of their Champions League play-off.

The 23-year-old, who completed five dribbles and won six duels against Kilmarnock, was unfortunate not to score or provide an assist. He had four chances to make it happen, scoring four and taking the loss.

However, in his second appearance, he went off the mark, cutting inside off the left, playing a sweet one-two with Iheanacho, and then sliding a first-time finish under Thistle goalkeeper Lewis Budinauckas.

Following the game, Tounekti said, “I would like to contribute with goals and assists. It was a good start today.”

Tounekti & Tierney’s growing partnership is growing.

The large traveling contingent in Maryhill serenaded the players after the full-time whistle, with Tounekti front and center, in stark contrast to Celtic supporters’ general discontent with the club’s governance.

The Norwegian-born winger received praise for his role in Celtic’s star turn at Firhill, which unquestionably led to praise for him.

Former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew praised him on Premier Sports, saying, “He was brilliant.

He found a great find for Celtic and had a touch of class in the goal. They simply wished they had ined him before the Kairat game.

Another former Celtic hero was enthralled by how Tounekti and another summer arrival, Kieran Tierney, came together to form a second team at Celtic.

Tierney’s relationship with Tounetki is what I find fascinating. Tierney wants to be tall and wide, according to Pat Bonner on Sportsound.

You can’t occupy that space too frequently when you have a winger ahead of you. Tounetki has consistently vowed to get the ball and make people laugh.

Tierney can link in and support him, and that means.

Tierney himself expressed praise for his newlywed partner in the left-hand corner.

The Scotland defender said, “It feels like he’s been here for ages.”

You can tell from his debut at Killie how well he has settled in.
