Rob Cross, the previous champion of the PDC World Championship, won the matchup with Luke Littler, the reigning champion.
Cross, who won the event in 2018, prevailed comfortably over Australian and 16th-seeded Damon Heta.
Gary Anderson, a two-time champion, and Dutchman Jermaine Wattimena, who had a final-set thriller against the 17th seed, joined him in round four.
Scot Anderson was impressive in setting 121 in a game played at a fierce pace and going 3-1 up.
In the fifth set, he made three match darts before missing the same target twice, striking double eight with his first dart with 32 required.
Anderson missed more match darts at the tops in set six, but Wattimena forced a final set.
In the final set, Anderson went eight darts into the nine-darter before taking the double 12 high, earning the set 5-3 to continue his age-old championship quest.
He had a 37.5% checkout rate and an average of 102.24, which is the eighth-highest in the tournament this year.
For my age, it’s not good. Particularly with Jermaine on you, it’s challenging. What a game, Anderson claimed to Sky Sports.
“The last two games, 4-0, 4-0. That’s likely to make up for it, I hope. I’m going to lie right now.
Like I bottled a lot of doubles, I bottled the nine-darter. I wasn’t very excited, which is unusual. But I succeeded in accomplishing it.

Adam Peaty’s family have been left distraught as the majority of them were uninvited from his wedding ceremony in the wake of a rift between the Olympic swimmer and his mother

Some members of Adam Peaty’s family retaliated after they were not allowed at the swimmer’s wedding
Adam Peaty’s wedding to Holly Ramsay was meant to be a joyful celebration for the Olympic champion. Instead, the ceremony became the focal point of an increasingly bitter family feud.
As a result, Adam received a series of pointed ‘messages’ from his now estranged relatives in the lead up to, and throughout the big day.
The swimmer, 31, married Holly, 25, at Bath Abbey in a lavish ceremony which was attended by around 200 guests, including celebrities and close friends. While Holly’s family played a central role in the ceremony, most of Adam’s own relatives were noticeably absent.
His brother’s cryptic Godfather post
A few hours after Adam got married, his estranged brother James posted what some have seen as an indirect message to him on Instagram.
He uploaded an old photo of himself standing with their mother, Caroline Peaty, outside Bath Abbey. James paired the snap with a remix of Speak Softly, Love, which is the theme song from The Godfather trilogy.
The films follow the story of a powerful mafia family who protect their own flesh and blood at any cost, even if this results in the brutal death of outsiders.
The Instagram story only stayed live for 15 minutes before it was deleted. Shortly afterwards, James wiped his account entirely and removed all of his previously posted images.
Devastating text sent before Adam walked down the aisle
Moments before Adam entered Bath Abbey, which is where he said his wedding vows, he reportedly received a heartbreaking text from his aunt Louise.
According to MailOnline, the message said: “I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through and despite it all she loves you still. Shame on you both. Shame.
“Remember on this, your happiest day, and on each anniversary of your happiest day, that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.”
The message was allegedly sent just before Adam walked into the abbey holding the hand of his five-year-old son, George, from his previous relationship.
The inverted Union Jack ‘distress signal’
Some of Adam’s other relatives sparked speculation by flying a Union Jack flag upside down outside of their house. The inverted flag is internationally recognised as a symbol of distress, and some onlookers wondered if that might indicate the family member’s feelings about Adam’s wedding.
It is still unclear whether the flag was deliberately inverted, or whether this was simply a mistake.
Adam’s father ‘humiliated’ by seating row
According to insiders, Mark was the only family member from the feud who was offered an invitation to Adam’s wedding ceremony. He was allegedly told he could attend but would have to sit at the back of the church “behind the plus-ones”.
A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Frankly, it’s disgusting that it went ahead without Adam reaching out to his mum and dad beforehand.”
They added: “For him to turn around and tell Beth that his dad could come and sit at the back of the church is awful. Mark was told he could sit behind plus-ones — who Adam has probably never even seen or spoken to.”
In the end, Adam’s sister Bethany was the only member of his immediate family that attended the ceremony, after being asked to be one of Holly’s bridesmaids. The rest of the Peaty family stayed at home in Uttoxeter, around 150 miles away.
When professional Katya Jones and her partner, Emmerdale’s Lewis Cope, were voted off this year’s Strictly, furious viewers threatened to boycott the BBC dance competition

After their controversial departure from Strictly Come Dancing, pro Katya Jones and Emmerdale star Lewis Cope will be reuniting for a special one off show. Lewis and Katya were voted off this year’s competition two weeks before the final, after going up against Amber Davies and Nikita Kuzmin in the dance off.
But luckily for fans of the pair, they have a chance to see them together again, when they host their one-off workshop in Lewis’ hometown of Hartlepool. Dance With Lewis and Katya will take place on Sunday 22 February, between 10am and 11.30am, with tickets costing £75 each.

Posting on Katya’s Instagram Stories, the pair beamed as they told fans about the special opportunity. Lewis said: “So a lot of people have been messaging us and commenting and saying they want to dance with us.
Katya added: “So we’ve decided that we want to dance with you.”
Lewis, 30, continued: “So we are going to do a workshop in Hartlepool, the link will be somewhere around here and in our bios. If you want to come and dance with us, meet us, ask us questions, hang out with us – how exciting!”
The announcement comes after Lewis and Katya’s elimination infuriated fans, with some vowing to switch off. One fan raged on social media: “Oh my goodness! I’ve just read your spoiler and I am shocked to the core. That is SO ridiculous that I don’t think I can bring myself to watch another minute of Strictly. I’m out!”
Another commented: “So angry at this – two absolutely astounding dancers in the dance off and neither should have gone home. I guess there’s no point watching the rest of the series now though so got some time back there!”
A third viewer ranted: “This is a joke. #Strictly used to be a dancing competition, but the best dancer hasn’t won since Jay McGuiness in 2015 & this is the biggest robbery in Strictly history for me. I’ve watched every ep of every series of this show but I’m done for this series. Devastated honestly.”
After they were voted off the show, Lewis paid tribute to his trainer Katya. He said: “It’s been incredible and will be a memory for the rest of my life, and I think it’s all down to you. You’ve given me everything as a friend as a teacher.”
Katya got emotional, saying of Lewis: “I think you have created so many moments for Strictly Come Dancing that will be in the history books, you will be remembered as the best male celebrity we ever had on the show. I really hope Lewis Cope will be remembered for the incredible person you are.”
Lewis opened up about how important Strictly is. He said: “What is life without people. I’ve seen how it’s brought people together.
:It seems to lift people up. It’s brought my family, four generations, together every Saturday night.
“Young boys who thought it wasn’t accessible have started dancing. If you’ve changed one person’s like like that then that’s enough.”
Lewis was no stranger to dancing though, which raised some eyebrows when he joined the cast. The actor appeared in a stage version of Billy Elliot in his youth, and went on to be a runner-up in the Sky One dance series Got to Dance back in 2013.

Sara Davies gushes about Adam Peaty’s special wedding details.
As newlyweds Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay recover from their luxurious wedding on Saturday (December 27), guests are already gushing about the couple’s “special day”. Adam’s Strictly co-star and Dragon’s Den entrepreneur Sara Davies was full of praise for the celebration, claiming she was served “the best wedding food” she’s ever had.
Despite being mired in controversy, amid a bitter family feud among Adam’s relatives, Sara said she had “the best time” at the “beautiful” service at Bath Abbey. Writing on Instagram she sent well-wishes to pal, Olympic swimmer Adam. Sara, 41, said: “Yesterday I had the privilege of being at this amazing man’s wedding – and it also gave me a moment to reflect on how lucky I’ve been to have him in my life over the past four years.

We’ve been close friends since our initial encounter on Strictly, and it was a real honor to watch him experience emotion as his lifelong partner walks down Bath Abbey. Such a wonderful day.
The service was beautiful, and Simon and I had the best time, and I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear me say that it was by far the best wedding food I’ve ever had. Wishing my wonderful friend and his stunning bride a lifetime of joy together.
Sara and other celebrities included Masterchef star Marcus Wareing and the Beckhams, with Brooklyn, respectively. Gordon Ramsay, a famous chef, stayed at the historic venue the entire day to make sure his daughter’s wedding was flawless.
The venue itself was adorned with hundreds of white roses, while five security guards were stationed outside to keep the chaotic crowd under control. Holly was ushered in, wearing a long bridal cape over her lace gown, while her bridesmaids – including Adam’s sister Bethany – were dressed in scarlet dresses, designed by family friend Victoria Beckham.
The Beckham lads posted a selfie from the reception, while TV presenter Dan Walker controversially shared a couple of snaps of the order of ceremony. Original power couple David and Victoria Beckham were as well-dressed as ever, with Posh Spice stunning crowds with her teal satin gown.
However, Adam’s side of the family was completely absent from the guest list, with only his sister Bethany present despite the extensive celebrity presence. It comes as a result of a long-running feud between his clan, which ended with them not being able to attend the wedding.
Adam’s parents watched the rest of the crowd as the lavish ceremony took place at their son’s wedding home in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, as the couple watched in awe. Caroline, Adam’s mother, told the Mail: “All you want your children to do is be happy in their relationships.
They won’t have their wedding ruined by me. Yes, it’s a happy day, but it needs to be said that it’s their wedding. There is nothing I can’t forgive them, and I want them to have the best day possible. They are both still loved.

“Stay by one another,” Adam and I both want to say. Don’t forget the people around you just because you love them and that love is intense. I believe that family should have been the top priority at the wedding because it is such a joyful occasion.
