EFCC To Arraign Former AGF Abubakar Malami In Abuja Tuesday

Abubakar Malami, SAN, the former minister of justice and attorney general of the Federation, will be arraigned on Tuesday in Abuja before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Emeka Nwite and Malami are scheduled to enter pleas at the Federal High Court, according to information.

Chief J. S. Okutepa, SAN, is expected to lead the prosecution team.

The EFCC has charged Malami, his son, Abubakar Abdulaziz Malami, and an associate, Hajia Bashir Asabe, with 16 counts in accordance with the charge sheet obtained by Channels Television.

The charges include large-scale money laundering and the unauthorized purchase of properties worth more than N8.7 billion.

[1 / 1.014 billion of money laundering] FG Files 16-Count Charges Against Malami, Son, and Other Persons.

The defendants are accused of conspiring to conceal, conceal, and keep money from illegal activities under the charge FHC/ABJ/CR/700/2025.

The indictment claims that they indirectly obtained the illicit funds through a number of bank accounts, corporate entities, and significant real estate transactions over the course of nearly ten years.

According to the charge sheet, Malami’s tenure as the nation’s attorney-general allegedly occurred between 2015 and 2025, primarily in Abuja’s Federal Capital Territory.

Malami and his son were allegedly using Metropolitan Auto Tech Limited to conceal N1.014 billion between July 2022 and June 2025, according to the EFCC. Additionally, they are accused of putting in an additional N600.01 million between September 2020 and February 2021.

The defendants are accused of holding N600 million in cash as collateral for a N500 million loan from Sterling Bank Plc, with the EFCC claiming that they knew the funds were illegal proceeds.

The defendants indirectly controlled N1.3 billion through the Union Bank account of Meethaq Hotels Ltd., which the EFCC claims was obtained through illegal means, according to the commission in another charge.

The alleged acquisition of high-end properties in Abuja and other locations with the intention of concealing the funds’ origin and true ownership is one of the allegations.

A luxury duplex on Amazon Street, Maitama, was purchased for N500 million, a Garki property for N700 million, and another in Jabi District for N850 million. Additional acquisitions include the acquisitions of Efab Estate, Gwarimpa, and Rhine Street, Maitama (N430 million), Asokoro District (N210 million and N325 million), respectively.

Additionally, the EFCC claims that between 2018 and 2023, Malami purchased multiple properties in Abuja, Kano, and Birnin Kebbi for unrestricted amounts of N952 million. To conceal ownership, these acquisitions allegedly occurred through corporate proxies and other entities.

Hajia Bashir Asabe, who is alleged to have worked for Rahamaniya Properties Ltd., is said to have played a significant role in facilitating these property deals and concealing ownership on Malami’s behalf.

The commission contends that the alleged actions violate the terms of both the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act of 2011 (as amended) and the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act of 2022.

Prince William ‘has shrewd plan for Harry and Meghan and their royal futures’

A royal expert has revealed the one reason the future King would never do that in the wake of recent speculation that Prince William might one day remove Harry and Meghan from their royal titles.

Since Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were stripped of their titles, speculation has increased that one day Harry and Meghan could meet the same fate. Prince Harry, 41, has retained his titles despite having some strained relationships with the Royal Family, and spending the last five years living in California with his wife, Duchess Meghan, 44, and their two children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

Relations might have somewhat thawed with King Charles in recent months, but it’s well known that Harry and his older brother, Prince William, have not seen eye to eye for a long time and aren’t in contact. Some significant diary clashes between the two siblings have seen them go head-to-head for the front pages in the last year, with royal watchers speculating that this might not help improve matters between the brothers.

With Andrew’s titles unceremoniously removed by the monarch in October amid ongoing public outcry over his connection to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein – some royal experts have claimed that Harry and Meghan are equally as “vulnerable” to losing their official royal status when Prince William takes the throne.

Harry and Meghan are on “borrowed time,” according to royal author Tom Bower, and royal expert Tom Sykes agrees with this theory. When William is ready to appoint the throne in what would be a “dramatic change,” Sykes, for the Daily Beast, stated that he believes William will quickly issue “letters patent” to remove princely titles from non-working royals.

A similar scenario could exist when Danish Queen Margrethe II removed four of her grandchildren’s prince and princess titles in 2022. She claimed at the time that she wanted to “future-proof” the monarchy but apologized for the upheaval it caused, saying she “underestimated” how her son Prince Joachim and his children would react to the choice. It’s never fun to watch your children being treated like that, Joseph once said. They find themselves in a difficult situation.

The idea of a “slimmed down” monarchy is something that King Charles himself has put forward for many years, keen to cut the costs for the taxpayer and ensure the longevity of the institution. Despite all of this, one royal expert tells the Mirror that in her view, it isn’t likely at all that taking Harry and Meghan’s titles away would be anywhere close to the top of William’s agenda when the time finally comes for him to take the throne.

Even though they haven’t been able to get along in recent years, William has much bigger fish to fry than finding a personal score with his younger brother. Afua Acheampong-Hagan, a renowned expert and commentator, explains that William is essentially not that “petty” and expertly understands how it would look.

Instead, the future King concentrates solely on pressing social issues and is working on ambitious, high-impact projects to improve people’s lives. For instance, William’s Homewards project, which aims to demonstrate that the UK’s homeless population can be eradicated, and the Earthshot Prize, which supports those who have developed creative solutions to the climate crisis and provides a framework for scaling them up, are two examples.

The expert claimed that removing his brother and sister-in-law’s titles as a top priority would only “make him look petty.” He doesn’t believe he has the time to do that, and he also doesn’t want that to become the focus of his time. Oh, I’m going to take my brother’s titles away first, because “for what?”

What would be the purpose? It’s really ridiculous to think about whether or not he might act in that way when he comes into power. The Royal Family needs to do so many other things to modernize, including removing people’s titles for living their own lives, which will seem silly and petty, so I don’t believe he will. “The expert adds that in her opinion.”

Given that William’s prominent initiatives to implement significant change are “absolutely his priority,” the expert explains, something that is incongruent with what we know about his personality and focus.

The expert continues to speculate about the ongoing speculation by saying, “I genuinely don’t think he is that petty, and I think he knows if he did that, that’s how he would come across.”

In the last five years, the couple has lost 11 advisors, with Meredith Maines, their most recent victim, being their PR director. In a quick statement, Ms. Maines stated that she would be “pursuing a new opportunity” in 2026.

With her departure likely to be a blow to the Duke and Duchess, who will be the fifth important member of the publicity staff to leave Harry and Meghan’s shoes alone in the wake of persistent claims that the couple are “difficult to work with.”

Public Emotional Breakdowns Signal Deeper Mental Health Crisis In Nigeria — Jideonwo

According to media entrepreneur Chude Jideonwo, public emotional breakdowns involving well-known personalities reflect a deeper and more pervasive mental health crisis in Nigeria.

He urged the millions of people who are still suffering from silence to be aware of how these incidents are handled.

Jideonwo, who spoke on the Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program on Wednesday, claimed that Nigeria’s numerous structural and political issues have made it difficult to minimize personal trauma as though emotional suffering pales in comparison to “bigger national issues”.

There is a perception that personal trauma is minor, like we have bigger issues to deal with because our nation has so many big issues. He urged people to “take this seriously.”

According to him, recent public incidents involving online celebrities and creatives have revealed how much emotional and mental strain Nigerians endure each day.

“I believe there have been incidents like the ongoing issues with LazyWrita and Peller,” the author said. The news surrounding Tontoh Dikeh kind of demonstrates how vulnerable people are to intense mental pressure, according to Jideonwo.

He argued that the situation affects both public figures and private citizens who lack access to adequate support.

People in our country are under a lot of emotional strain. People in our country are unable to access the assistance they require. People in our country, whether they are in public or private, are experiencing suffering in their hearts and minds,” he continued.

Jideonwo argued that when emotional struggles enter public space, they should be treated as a warning rather than as a sneer or sensationalized.

He said, “When we see it bleed into the public space, it should serve as a reminder of how serious the mental health crisis is.” There are thousands of private bleeds, according to the statement “if a known person bleeds in public emotionally.”

He warned that society’s response to well-known cases sends a message to those who are quietly struggling to decide whether to accept or reject their suffering.

He said that how we handle public events teaches private individuals that their own struggles with mental health should be taken seriously.

Three-time MVP Jokic suffers ‘gut-wrenching’ injury

Nikola Jokic, a three-time NBA MVP, injured his knee in the 147-123 loss to the Miami Heat, which was “gut-wrenching.”

Late in the first half, Jokic and teammate Spencer Jones accidentally collided.

Jokic immediately fell to the ground with his knees as Jones approached.

On Tuesday, the 30-year-old will undergo an MRI to assess the extent of the problem’s severity.

According to Nuggets head coach David Adelman, “he immediately knew something was wrong.”

“This belongs to the NBA,” he said. Anyone who suffers is horribly hurt, especially someone as unique as he is. Tomorrow, we’ll learn more.

We’ll work together to move forward. I’m obviously more concerned with his persona and the disappointment of going through that right now.

Jofra Archer, who has missed the previous two Ashes Tests, has been chosen to play for England in the T20 World Cup.

The pace bowler has been selected for the tournament’s preliminary 15-man party in India and Sri Lanka in February and March, and he is recovering from a side strain.

Jordan Cox will not be able to play after Jamie Smith’s dismal Ashes series and the World Cup.

Josh Tongue, a pace bowler for England who has never played white ball, is honored for making the World Cup squad based on his ashes performances.

The World Cup could provide another indicator of the futures of head coach Brendon McCullum and director of cricket Rob Key, who were defeated in their first three Test matches against Australia and who lost the Ashes series as soon as possible.

England’s goal is to automatically qualify for the 50-over World Cup in 2027 through the play-off matches. Southern Africa will be able to place in the tournament if the top nine places in the rankings, while England is currently ranked eighth.

Harry Brook, the captain of the Ashes, leads a full-strength squad despite the tight turnaround. After the fifth Test, England departs from Australia on January 9 and travels to Sri Lanka on January 18. On January 22, there will be the first ODI.

Will Jacks, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, Joe Root, Joe Root, Brydon Carse, Ben Duckett, and Will Jacks are all scheduled to play some white-ball matches for England in the new year.

England’s top white-ball pace bowler, 30-year-old. He was impressing in the Ashes but was forced to miss the series due to a side injury he sustained in Adelaide in the third Test.

Harry Brook, Rehan Ahmed, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Luke Wood, and Will Jacks all make the England squad for Sri Lanka’s international matches.

Smith has started nine of England’s last nine games as their one-day opener, but he hasn’t played a T20 since June. The 25-year-old struggled in the one-day matches in New Zealand that followed the Ashes before posting only one half-century in Australia.

Tongue, 28, has been England’s breakout Ashes player, taking 12 wickets in his two Test matches. He won’t play in the ODIs, but the T20s will feature him.

Cox, the top run-scorer from Hundred last year, feels let down by the loss. As middle-order batting cover, Tom Banton is given the nod.

Despite a challenging Ashes, Duckett is currently in both squads, and he appears to have the potential to bring his Test debut partnership with Crawley to one-day internationals as England attempt to find a winning combination for the 50-over World Cup.

Crawley has played eight one-day international matches, the last of which was his final List A game against West Indies in December 2023.

Root, who turns 35 on Tuesday, could have played a role in the Ashes’ final ODIs, but he only visits Sri Lanka for the ODIs. His next game of cricket is likely to be played in his native summer.

As a result of his recovery from a broken finger, Jacks, an all-rounder, missed the New Zealand tour and is now available to both teams as one of several spin options in the subcontinental climate.

In the slow-bowling division are Adil Rashid, Liam Dawson, Rehan Ahmed, and Bethell.

In Group C of the T20 World Cup, England joins Bangladesh, West Indies, and Italy’s opening team, along with Nepal. Both of their games take place in Mumbai and Kolkata.
