Overspeeding, Wrongful Overtaking Caused Crash Involving Anthony Joshua – FRSC

Anthony Joshua, a former world heavyweight boxing champion, was involved in the accident, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Command. &nbsp,

Afolabi Oyewole, the Ogun State Public Relations Officer for the FRSC, said the driver was traveling at a very high speed before accidentally overtaking and colliding with a stationary truck parked on the extreme shoulder of the road.

“Overspeeding and wrongful overtaking are two topics that we do discuss. Every crash will involve human factors, according to Oyewole.

The driver who was involved in that horrifying accident involving Anthony Joshua was traveling at a very high speed, which was what transpired yesterday. A stationed vehicle was parked at the extreme shoulder of the road when he wrongly overtook and struck it.

According to him, the impact prevented the car’s drivers from escaping without harm, adding that it was only fortunate that the vehicle’s point of impact was on its right-hand side.

He said, “There was no way he could have saved every other person in that car, but fortunately, the right-hand side of the car hit the truck because he had a bad accident.”

Oyewole confirmed that Anthony Joshua and the passenger were both survived the collision and were later taken away by Department of State Services (DSS) employees who were stationed in an unnamed hospital.

“The driver and Anthony Joshua are hearty and hale.” According to what we’ve heard, they are responding to treatment, he claimed, but the DSS attached him to an undisclosed hospital.

He also made it known that two victims of the accident lost their lives, and that their bodies have been taken to the morgue for their families’ identification.

According to Oyewole, “the two bodies of the victims have been taken to the morgue for later identification so that the families can do the needy.”

With the introduction of laser speed guns, the Ogun State Sector Commander and patrol teams’ increased enforcement activities in December, particularly against overspeeding, according to the FRSC spokesman.

The laser gun that could pick overspeeding vehicles from a distance was a new thing we did, he said.

Oyewole argued that overspeeding frequently results in a loss of control and fatalities in the majority of fatal crashes.

Joshua was involved in the tragic road accident along the busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which runs along the Ogun State’s Makun axis.

Paloma Faith says women should realise it’s not their ‘duty to stay and suffer’

Despite having a successful musical career, Paloma Faith has also been open about the breakdown of her first marriage and co-parenting.

As she urged other struggling partners to leave unhappy marriages, Paloma Faith referred to leaving her husband Leyman Lahcine as “the best decision I ever made.” The popular singer and her husband got engaged in 2017.

Before making the announcement that they would end their union in 2022, the couple had two children together. However, Paloma claims that their relationship has improved since they are no longer romantic partners but can still co-parent.

Many women feel they must “stay and suffer” to guard their children, according to Paloma. She claimed that choosing to be friends with Leyman as opposed to remain married was the “best choice.”

Women feel it’s their responsibility to stay and suffer for their children, Paloma said in a podcast titled Mad, Sad and Bad. I think it’s amazing how close we are now that we’ve broken up with my children’s father.

In retrospect, I think it was the wisest decision I ever made to leave the relationship in favor of a friendship and co-parentship with him because I believe our relationship is now better as a result.

According to Paloma, Leyman’s breakup was due to her having two daughters, and she needed him “for more than nothing.” Paloma claimed she was no longer able to put her husband before them, and their animosity escalated.

After welcoming their second child, the couple eventually parted ways in 2022. With her new boyfriend Stevie Thomas, Paloma has since moved on and is expecting a third child.

In March of this year, Stevie and she made headlines at the Sony Music BRITs afterparty by putting on a loved-up display.

According to a source at the time, “Stevie and Paloma are absolutely in love with each other, but she’s been telling people that their relationship is also the healthiest ever.”

She loves how tall he is, according to them, and he is 6’6″. He’s a great communicator and has a lot of feelings, which makes it sexy and exciting. They appear to be close friends and will stay that way for the long term.

UN says Sudan’s el-Fasher a ‘crime scene’ in first access since RSF capture

After gaining access to Sudan’s largely deserted city for the first time since its takeover by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in October, a UN team has described the country’s el-Fasher as a “crime scene.”

Following weeks of negotiations, international aid personnel visited El-Fasher on Friday, finding few residents left. This city was once a densely populated city with a sizable population of people who had been displaced.

After an 18-month siege, more than 100,000 residents fled for their lives after the RSF seized control on October 26. Numerous survivors reported ethnically motivated mass killings and widespread detentions.

Sudan’s UN staff members claimed there were “so few people” they could see during the hours-long visit, according to Denise Brown, the organization’s resident and humanitarian coordinator. The few remaining were sheltered in abandoned buildings or under basic plastic sheets, and the only local produce market was locally produced.

You can clearly see the accumulation of fatigue, stress, anxiety, and loss on people’s faces from the photos, Brown told the Reuters news agency on Monday.

UNICEF, the UN agency for children, issued a warning on Monday about “unprecedented levels” of child malnutrition in North Darfur, with 53% of the 500 children being screened in the Um Baru neighborhood this month being acutely malnourished.

Severe acute malnutrition, a life-threatening condition that can kill without treatment in weeks, was present in one in six cases.

The RSF’s systematic campaign to eliminate evidence of mass killings through burial, burning, and removing human remains was documented in a report released by Yale University’s Humanitarian Research Lab in December.

By late November, according to satellite imagery, 72% of clusters containing human-remaining objects were getting smaller, and 38% were no longer visible.

In the recent offensive against the Dar Zaghawa region near the Chad border, the RSF claimed that more than 200 people, including children and women, were killed on ethnic grounds by the organization in the Ambro, Serba, and Abu Qumra areas.

The attacks, which started on December 24 could put an end to the last places that civilians could flee to Chad could find refuge.

A UN Human Rights Office report that detailed patterns of sexual violence, including rape, gang rape, and sexual slavery, revealed that the RSF killed more than 1, 000 civilians during a three-day assault on the Zamzam displacement camp in April.

In what the UN calls for an immediate ceasefire on Friday in what it describes as the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres made the visit to El-Fasher.

The UN’s 2026 appeal has been reduced by half due to the estimated 30.4% of Sudanese who currently require humanitarian aid due to key donor funding cuts.

El-Fasher was Sudan’s last significant stronghold in Darfur before it fell to the RSF, which was a branch of the government-backed Popular Defence Forces, also known as the Janjaweed, which was accused of genocide against non-Arab ethnic groups during the Darfur conflict in 2000.

After the city’s capture, fighting expanded into the Kordofan region, effectively splitting the region into two, allowing the RSF to gain more control over the Darfur region.

According to the UN, 107, 000 people have been displaced from El-Fasher and nearby El-Fasher since late October, with 72 percent still residing in North Darfur state.

Some homes were forced to relocate three or more times, with roughly three-quarters of those displaced already internally displaced people (IDPs) who had previously evaded violence. 1.17 million people, who were originally from El-Fasher, have been displaced, making up 13% of all IDPs.

More than 100, 000 people have been killed and 14 million have been internally displaced, including 4.3 million who have fled to neighboring nations as a result of the power struggle that broke out in April 2023.

General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the army’s leader, recently resisted negotiations, saying only the RSF’s “surrender” and withdrawal from its occupied areas would result in a victory in the May 2023 peace agreement.

Sudan’s military leaders should pursue “a path toward peace, not continued conflict,” according to the US Department of State, which expressed deep concern over “rhetoric from Sudanese Armed Forces leadership calling for military solutions.”

The RSF referred to Kamil Idris’ request for peace as “wishful thinking” and earlier rejected it.
