Max George shares sad health update after heading back to hospital

The Wanted singer Max George has revealed that he was back in hospital following a health scare ahead of the group’s highly anticipated US tour

Max George has been rushed to hospital ahead of The Wanted’s US tour.

The 37-year-old singer, who is dating former EastEnders actress Maisie Smith, suffered a devastating health set back after he posted a video showing him sat in a hospital waiting room – with a five hour wait time.

This comes after it was reported that the singer, who had previously dated Michelle Keegan, had undergone two major heart operations and was given a pacemaker.

He accompanied his post with two sick emojis and captioned it saying: “Current waiting time: approximately 5 hours”. It still remains unknown the nature of his latest health scare.

Earlier this year, Max’s second operation which was carried out in secret, was to rectify the fact that his pacemaker wires had been inserted too deep.

The singer turned actor posted a picture of himself lay down in a hospital bed wearing a medical gown. He told fans: “Tin man needed a bit of oil before tour. Next stop… USA!! “!

Max was first taken into hospital back in 2024 after medics diagnosed him with a heart block. But his recovery was nothing short of painful as he was left suffering since his operation.

According to reports, he was also dealt another blow after doctors warned him that he may never sing again as he endured a lung biopsy, to investigate a separate health scare.

Max even described his recovery as “rough”.

Speaking to Heat magazine following his operation, he admitted: “It’s probably taken me until about the last two weeks to almost fully recover where I feel normal”.

He continued: “When I wake up in the morning, my energy’s much higher now. I’m getting there. It’s taken a while, but I feel really good”.

And his bandmate Siva Kaneswaran added: “You’ve come a long way. I’m very proud of you. You should have seen him in January or February, we’re very lucky that he’s recovered very fast… I’d let him know if he was lagging”!

Siva and Max are the only two original members of The Wanted to tour America and announced their tour plans last year.

Britain’s Boulter & Norrie out of China Open

Great Britain’s Katie Boulter and Cameron Norrie both suffered straight sets defeats at the China Open.

British number two Boulter suffered a comprehensive 6-1 6-3 loss against Wimbledon and US Open finalist Amanda Anisimova, having beaten her American compatriot Hailey Baptiste in round one.

In the men’s draw, Norrie is also out after losing to eighth-seeded Daniil Medvedev in the first round.

Last week, Boulter helped Great Britain to reach the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup with a statement win over Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima, a welcome return to form after her Wimbledon ended with a second-round defeat to lucky loser Solana Sierra and she failed to progress from round one at the US Open.

At Wimbledon, Norrie made the last eight of a major for the first time in three years but was knocked out by finalist Carlos Alcaraz then, at the US Open, regretted how ‘ overconfidence ‘ caused him to throw away a tight contest with four-time champion Novak Djokovic.

Elsewhere in Beijing, Coco Gauff’s title defence continued with a 6-4 6-0 victory, easing past Russia’s Kamilla Rakhimova to reach the last 32.

‘My favourite Lulu Guinness tote bags are finally back in stock and they’re a must-have’

From tote bags to clutches, Lulu Guinness has got it covered when it comes to bags, and now we’ve seen the return of the iconic printed tote bags

Being the proud owner of not one but two of the sought-after Lulu Guinness tote bags, I’m delighted to see the designer brand is offering shoppers another opportunity to purchase them. So popular that it frequently sells out, this summer has witnessed the comeback of the iconic Black Multi Lulu Lip Striped Tote Bag.

Priced at £30, I believe it’s an absolute bargain for a designer bag that’s spacious enough for shopping, swimming, days out and virtually any other occasion where size truly counts.

Renowned for her distinctive British flair and trademark motifs, Lulu Guinness has a talent for turning ordinary accessories into standout pieces – and these tote bags are certainly no different.

As someone who loves clean lines and black-and-white colour schemes, they bring a fun twist to my wardrobe. Lulu Guinness bags are crafted to be just a touch eccentric and these two are definitely on-brand with their cheeky designs and oversized red lips – a signature element from Lulu and her team, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The ‘ quintessentially British ‘ accessory designer has previously spoken about her iconic striped tote bag, saying: “It’s not your usual tote bag, the design is in the detail. It’s designed to be super versatile and used as your grocery bag for life, but it’s also your everything bag”.

Personally, I’ve found the deep bucket bags incredibly handy and spacious. With measurements of 37 x 57 x 16cm, the tote design is technically too large for hand luggage on most UK airlines, although its flexible structure makes it easy to squeeze into rucksacks, suitcases and even handbags.

The stunning Black Multi Lulu Lip Striped Tote Bag showcases a classic Lulu Guinness pattern, and is completed with the brand’s iconic red lip motif and logo straps, along with a matching lip charm for a fun final touch. Made entirely from recycled plastic bottles, it features a handy interior pocket that’s ideal for keys, phones, and other essentials.

To my joy, the bag also includes extra-long shoulder straps and grab handles, making it a comfortable carry even when filled to the brim. A brilliant buy for holidays, day trips and more, the tote provides plenty of room to fit everything from a beach towel to a 16-inch laptop.

I must admit, I’m such a fan of designer shopping bags that I also own the Lulu Guinness Flurry of Kisses Bag. Essentially the same size and shape, this bag is an even bigger steal at £20, if you can still find it in stock.

Adorned with kisses, it also features dual handles for shoulder or hand carry, plus external and internal pockets to keep everything organised.

Adding a touch of stylish flair to your shopping routine, it arrives with a removable zip-top pouch that’s also ‘ sealed with a kiss. ‘ It rounds off the ideal duo of matching designer tote bags that are always within reach in my car boot, packed alongside a few Orla Kiely and William Morris tote bags as well.

Meanwhile, Oliver Bonas also offers a delightful range of tote bags that are gorgeous inside and roomy outside, featuring the Striped Logo Fabric Tote Shopper. At £24, it comes in several colour options.

I’m not the only one who believes this bag is utterly brilliant – the rave reviews speak volumes. One delighted shopper wrote: “This bag is beautiful. It has replaced my work bag for the summer! Worth every penny – was looking at the Waitrose one but this is much better. Thank you Lulu for brining this back at much a great price – I bought two!”.

Another noted: “Beautiful bag – was available before at Waitrose but sold out – so glad Lulu brought this back”!. A third observed: “These are brilliant. I ordered five for gifts for friends. Super quality and eye catching I think a steal at £30”.

However, one customer was not impressed with the price, leaving a one-star review and stating: “It’s a great bag but it’s much better because I bought the original from Waitrose for half the price”.

FA launches safety review of perimeter walls after Vigar death

Following the death of Billy Vigar, a former youth player for Arsenal, the Football Association has announced that it will conduct an immediate safety review of the perimeter walls at National League stadiums.

Striker Vigar, age 21, passed away on Thursday after suffering a “significant brain injury” while playing for Chichester City at Wingate and Finchley FC on Saturday.

The club has not confirmed whether the injury was brought on by his collision with a concrete wall.

More than 4, 000 people have signed a petition calling for the removal of brick walls near football stadiums.

Working with leagues, clubs, and other interested parties in the game, the FA announced in a statement that “we will now conduct an immediate review” that will concentrate on the safety of perimeter walls and boundaries around the National League system.

This will include looking into ways to help National League system clubs identify and implement additional safety measures at their stadiums that they believe will help reduce any potential safety risks.

In a statement, PFA GM Maheta Molango said it was crucial to make sure “occasions to make grounds safer for players have been missed.”

He continued, “We’re all here to support Billy’s family and friends and offer any support we can.”

“Every footballer should anticipate being safe when they travel to play or exercise.”

In a letter to the FA, Premier League, English Football League, and National League in June 2023, the government and PFA asked them to take a more proactive approach to player safety.

Alex Fletcher of Bath City collided with a concrete advertising hoarding during a game in November 2022, and he fractured his skull in the process.

Knowing that the warnings were present, Luke Griggs, the CEO of brain injury charity Headway, said on BBC Sport, “This tragedy is even harder to bear.”

We can’t sit back and allow this to happen again, he said. “Action must be taken.”

Griggs requested funding for improvements to the lower-tier of the pyramid by football’s biggest players.

To actually help these clubs make the necessary changes, he added, “it would require a collaboration with the FA, PFA, local authorities, and sponsors.”

“We need to be looking at creative solutions by padding all those concrete walls in the interim.”

The amount of money in football cannot be passed on to other people, to pass the blame on it, they say. People must take ownership of this and step forward.

After graduating from the Arsenal academy in 2024, Vigar also spent time at Derby County, Eastbourne Borough, and Hastings United.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said at a press conference on Friday that he would like to see them comprehend how and why it happened and how they should proceed.

“This is shocking news,” You immediately begin to consider the family and how challenging it is to go through something like this.

“I’m hoping they can comprehend how it happened, why it happened, and make an effort to stay away from this kind of thing.”

‘Players should not be put at avoidable risk’ – PFA and Arteta react to Vigar death

Getty Images

The Professional Footballers ‘ Association has called for a full investigation after the death of former Arsenal youth player Billy Vigar and says players should “not be put at unnecessary and avoidable risk”.

Striker Vigar, 21, died on Thursday after sustaining a “significant brain injury” while playing for Chichester City at Wingate and Finchley FC last Saturday.

It is thought the injury was caused when he collided with a concrete wall, but the club have not confirmed this.

A petition calling for a ban on brick walls around football pitches has received more than 4, 000 signatures.

Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said: “Hopefully they can understand how it happened, and why it happened, and obviously try to avoid this kind of thing”.

PFA chief executive Maheta Molango said in a statement it was vital to ensure “opportunities to make grounds safer for players have not been missed”.

The government and the PFA wrote to the Football Association, the Premier League, the English Football League and the National League in June 2023 calling on them to adopt a more proactive approach to player safety in this area.

That came after Bath City’s Alex Fletcher suffered a fractured skull after colliding with a concrete advertising hoarding during a match in November 2022.

“Clearly there needs to be a formal investigation into the incident and it is right that this is allowed to take place so that the full circumstances can be properly established”, said Molango.

“All of our thoughts right now are with Billy’s family and friends, and providing whatever support we can to them”, he said.

“All footballers should expect to be safe when they go out to play or train and to not be put at unnecessary and avoidable risk by factors beyond their control.

” Whilst it is important that a proper investigation is allowed to conclude, we have to ensure that opportunities to make grounds safer for players have not been missed and that players don’t feel that serious incidents involving their safety are necessary to prompt change. “

BBC Sport has contacted the FA for comment.

Vigar was a graduate of the Arsenal academy, leaving the club in 2024, and also had spells at Derby County, Eastbourne Borough and Hastings United.

” It is shocking news, “Arteta said.

” Straight away you’re thinking about the family, and how difficult it is to go through something like this in a very unexpected way.

“Hopefully they can understand how it happened, and why it happened, and obviously try to avoid this kind of thing.
