Piers Morgan has urged people to “show some respect” following the news that former US president Joe Biden was diagnosed with an ‘aggressive form’ of prostate cancer.

The shock diagnosis comes after the 82-year-old was admitted to hospital last week for the investigation of a “prostate nodule”, news which, at the time, raised few eyebrows as doctors planned to conduct “further evaluation”. Officials confirmed yesterday that the anomaly was grade 5 prostate cancer with a Gleason score of 9 that had metastasised to the ex Commander-in-Chief’s bones.

Despite the seriousness of the diagnosis, Biden’s medical team has discovered that the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which could lead to the development of effective treatment options. In managing such cases, hormone therapy can frequently be effective when combined with other therapies like radiation or surgery.

On the news of Biden’s diagnosis, Trump’s fellow Republicans also made comments. Senator Susan Collins, a Republican from Maine, expressed her sadness over President Biden’s diagnosis and his family’s success as he begins his treatment. Thom Tillis, a Republican senator from North Carolina, expressed his desire for a full recovery.

But, sadly it seems a number of online trolls have been “mocking and celebrating” Mr Biden’s health news. Taking to X, formerly known as Twittrer, Piers Morgan urged people to “show some respect”.

The journalist and media personality said on X: “I’m going to block anyone I see because Joe Biden’s health news is already full of this vile crap flying around.” The man has spent 50 years fighting for his life in his country. Show some ferocious respect.

One of his 8.8 million followers responded, “I agree Piers, it’s sickening that people want to tear someone down when they are sick.” Although I don’t agree with most of Biden’s choices, he is human. Our humanity has vanished. That distinguishes us from one another; “hate only breeds hatred,”

Biden’s family and his healthcare team are currently collaborating to determine the best course of action. This most recent diagnosis comes in response to a 2023 health update that successfully removed a cancerous skin lesion without needing any additional medical care.

Governor Radda Revives 33-Year-Old Kankia Groundnut Oil Mill

The historic Gidan Kuli groundnut oil mill in the state’s Kankia Local Government Area has been renovated, according to Katsina governor Dikko Radda.

In a short while, the resurrected Gidan Kuli groundnut oil mill will start operating in full, generating over 500 direct and indirect jobs and strengthening the local economy.

The entire overhaul, which included updating outdated equipment, purchasing new equipment, building administrative blocks, shops, and perimeter fencing, was carried out by The Katsina Youth Craft Village (KYCV).

In Katsina, the Faulty High-Tension Line kills four and burns eight others.

Governor Radda argued in a statement regarding this development that the facility represents more than just economic infrastructure because it embodies the state’s commitment to restoring its agricultural heritage.

The Governor reaffirmed that the revival perfectly aligns with the government’s plan for economic diversification in a statement released on Saturday by Ibrahim Mohammed, his top press secretary.

He claimed that the governor’s consent to the extensive renovation, which is overseen by the Ministry of Women Affairs, has transformed the 1992-established facility into a cutting-edge groundnut processing facility.

We are determined to reclaim the legacy that groundnut production once left for our farmers and business owners.

By restoring this processing facility, we are establishing a foundation for value-added agricultural products that can compete both nationally and internationally. We do so by guaranteeing a market for our groundnut farmers.

Faulty High-Tension Line Kills Four, Burns Eight Others In Katsina

Following a tragic power surge brought on by malfunctioning high-tension lines, eight people have died and eight others have been hurt at Sabuwar Unguwa-Kwabran-Dorawa Community in Katsina State.

Officials from the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) have yet to make any official comments about the incident despite the fact that the deceased have since been buried in accordance with Islamic customs.

Eight others, primarily women, were burned to their hands and other body parts in varying degrees, with three of them currently receiving medical care at Katsina’s Federal Teaching Hospital.

According to reports, the surge allegedly damaged property worth millions of dollars, most notably refrigerators and other electrical appliances. However, concerns have been raised about the safety of the utility companies’ response and the Saturday incident.

After two high-tension lines clashed during a windstorm, leading to abnormal electricity flow to homes in the area, eyewitness Mustapha Kasim confirmed to Channels Television on Sunday in a phone call.

He claimed that the deceased, who included three women, Baba Murja, Hassana, and Halima Danjuma, died separately from the male victim after leaving the hospital, while the other victim, who had not yet been identified, was the male victim.

One of the deceased and mother of three, Sani Ibrahim, claimed that she was electrocuted while attempting to turn off the family fridge.

“We immediately purchased milk for her immediately, and even before we moved to the hospital, we eventually succumbed.” Three children were left behind by her. He continued, “Her sudden death frightened me incredibly.”

In Kaduna, police also detained two Air Force officers and other personnel.

AREWA TECH FEST 2.0 Hosted by Katsina

At least ten thousand technology investors and initiators are scheduled to attend the second-ever AREWA TECH FEST 2.0 event in Katsina State on May 20th, 2025.

The first edition of the festival, titled “Innovating for Impact: Technology as a Catalyst for Economic Transformation,” was held in Kano State last year, and stakeholders are working hard to ensure that they triple the success of Kano in Katsina State.

The main goals are to transform Katsina from an analog state to a digital one, and to create a technology-driven economy that exists in developed nations all over the world.

The Continental Event Center, off Katsina Ring Road, is home to the largest event in Northern Nigeria and one of the largest in Africa and Nigeria as a whole, according to Muttaka Darma, the chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, who held a press briefing on Monday at the Katsina Directorate of Information and Communications Technology (KATDICT).

Darma recalled that since its inception in 2023, the current state administration has made a lot of progress in technology and other socioeconomic aspects. As a result, young people who are digitally bound will gather to support the transformation of the state into one.

In his opinion, Katsina State’s problems will ultimately be resolved by working with residents to address socioeconomic and security issues that still exist.

Therefore, he openly invites businesspeople, venture capitalists, government officials, academia, development partners, media, and the general public to participate in this historic event.

He claims that Katsina is not just presenting a tech festival, but also laying the groundwork for an inclusive, sustainable, and regionally transformative future.

“The festival will cover every single thing. Up to ten thousand young people from Africa and Nigeria will be entering the field of technology as either innovators or initiators. They will begin arriving today.

We have worked tirelessly over the past three months to make sure that we have completed everything the state government has asked of us. And we think we did a great job, Varadkar added.

Naufal Ahmad, director general of the Katsina Directorate of Information and Communications Technology (KATDICT), described the event as being “multicity and hybrid type” with something to suit everyone, regardless of their status, in his remarks.

US PGA Championship Final Round 2025

-11 Scheffler (US), -6 DeChambeau (US), English (US), Riley (US)

Selected others:, -5 Pendrith (Can), Poston (US), Vegas (Ven), -4 Fitzpatrick (Eng), Rahm (Spa), -1 Schauffele (US), + 2 Fleetwood (Eng), + 3 McIlroy (NI)

Jon Rahm’s rejuvenated 54-hole lead was ended by an emotional Scottie Scheffler, who won the first US PGA Championship title.

A different story was in danger at Quail Hollow, despite the five stroke winning margin suggesting that his third major was a formality.

Scheffler, the world’s number one, had a two-way rivalry for the Wanamaker Trophy when he started three shots ahead of Rahm and five clear of him.

They took the lead halfway through the final round thanks to Scheffler’s patchy front nine and Spaniard Rahm’s string of birdies around the turn.

Before snatching the trophy, Scheffler said, “I knew it would be a challenging day.”

“I did a good job of being patient on the front nine,” I said. “Finishing off a major championship is always challenging.

“I didn’t play my best stuff, but I kept myself in it, put up a good nine holes, and that’s what I did.”

Scheffler posted birdies on the 10th, 14th, and 15th to re-establish a buffer after opening the door for Rahm by shooting two over par for his first nine.

On the challenging “Green Mile” finale, Rahm’s attempts to catch the 28-year-old ended his hopes of his own third major success.

On the par-three 17th hole, he made a double-bogey five before making a bogey on 16 and putting his tee shot into the water on the par-three. He fell to a tie of eighth after two more dropped shots on the final hole.

Bryson DeChambeau, who finished in second place behind fellow Americans Davis Riley and Harris English, whose six-under 65 helped him move up the leaderboard.

Rory McIlroy finished with a 72 to tie for 47th after completing a career Grand Slam at the Masters in April.
