‘Catwoman’ Jocelyn Wildenstein leaves eye-watering sum to partner despite ‘bankruptcy’

Jocelyn Wildenstein left her partner a huge fortune after her death – despite declaring herself bankrupt.

The Swiss-born socialite known as Catwoman died on New Year’s Eve at the age of 84. Just days after her death, her partner Lloyd Klein revealed that Jocelyn had been suffering from phlebitis and died peacefully in her sleep. Phlebitis is an inflammation which causes a blood clot to form in a vein, often in a persons leg.

Jocelyn, who was known for her love of cosmetic surgery had declared herself bankrupt in 2018, claiming she had no money in her accounts. Three years later, the three apartments she owned in Trump Tower were repossessed. In 2023, she revealed that she was still struggling financially.

But now, her partner Lloyd has revealed that following her death, Jocelyn actually left him a staggering $100million in her will. Lloyd shared how he received a phone call on the day of Jocelyn’s funeral informing him that he was the beneficiary of a life policy that she had taken out.

He said: “It’s over $100million dollars, my heart was beating. I was like, I’m not surprised, I sent her]Jocelyne] a big blessing”. He went on to tell The Sun: “She did it right, she’s a lady. Jocelyne was secretive, she was mysterious”. But Lloyd’s lawyers informed him that he would need to make a major change to his life due to his new fortune.

“My life has changed. I have one or two people walking behind me now”, he added. But he claims that Jocelyn didn’t leave a penny to her two children, Alec Jr and Diane, who she shares with her former husband, Alec Wildenstein. It was reported that after their divorce in 1999, she received a pay out around $2.5 billion and an additional $100million every year.

Speaking shortly after Jocelyn’s death, Lloyd said: “We had a nice happy hour the same night and we were getting ready for the new year, and we took a little nap just to look good before getting dressed. Because of her phlebitis, the legs were very, very swollen, and the blood was blocked, and there was no oxygen in the brain”.

He added, recounting the devastating discovery: “And we were having a nap and when I wake up, I said, ‘ Jocelyn, we have to wake up, we have to get dressed, ‘ and she was cold and she was dead. It’s very sad. It’s extremely sad. It’s extremely sad to lay down with your other half that I know for 21 years and waiting to celebrate New Year’s Eve and to find her cold”.

Jocelyn and her grandmother both battled with phlebitis, yet Lloyd insisted she was in “perfect” health just days before her passing. The couple were savouring a romantic escape to Paris when tragedy struck. Lloyd admitted he was blindsided by her sudden death, as she appeared “at the top of her game” during their time together, adding they were “very happy”. Jocelyn had been on television recently, where Lloyd fondly noted she looked “extremely beautiful”. Her death was reported by Paris Match who claimed she was in a Parisian palace at the time of her passing.

A statement announcing her death read: “Her partner Lloyd Klein is saddened to announce the death of Jocelyn Wildensetein in Paris”. Final photos of her showed the star and her fiancé stepping out of The Ritz in the French capital city a mere two weeks ago. Jocelyn wrapped up warm in a black zip-up turtleneck and chic brown fur coat. Jocelyn was believed to have have spent millions on facelifts that gave her high cheek bones and ‘ cat-eyes ‘ that give her a feline resemblance. However, she often rejected the claims.

Great Britain won three silvers on the final day of the European Athletics Indoor Championships to finish with seven medals.

Melissa Courtney-Bryant had to settle for second place in the women’s 3, 000m after being pipped on the line by Ireland’s Sarah Healy.

George Mills was second in the men’s 3, 000m behind Norway’s Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who took his tally of European indoor golds to a record-equalling seven with a third consecutive 1500m and 3, 000m double.

GB were also runners-up in the women’s 4x400m relay, meaning the squad finished eighth in the medal table with one gold, three silvers and three bronze medals in Apeldoorn.

Lina Nielsen, Hannah Kelly, Emily Newnham and Amber Anning ran a national record 3: 24.89 to take silver behind hosts the Netherlands in what was the final event of the championships.

Jade O’Dowda narrowly missed out on a podium finish in the women’s pentathlon after being edged out by Ireland’s Kate O’Connor in the final event, the 800m.

O’Dowda sat third in the standings after four of the five events, having recorded personal bests in the 60m, high jump and shot put.

But O’Connor surged to victory in the 800m to finish 30 points ahead of O’Dowda, who secured a personal best score of 4, 751 points.

Mills has to settle for second again

After finishing second behind Ingebrigtsen in the 5, 000m at last summer’s outdoor championships in Rome, Mills once again had to settle for silver behind the Norwegian, who has now won 16 European titles across all surfaces and championships.

Ingebrigtsen surged in front with two-and-a-half laps to go and although Mills made a brave attempt to keep up, the Briton faded in the last 100m.

“I thought 400m was a bit early for Jakob to defend and I thought I could get him on the final straight, but he pulled away”.

“Anything less]than silver] and I would have been really disappointed”.

Mills ‘ father, former England footballer Danny, said of watching from the sidelines: “It’s horrible, it really is. I’ve said so many times it’s like watching a penalty shootout time and time again.

” I’ve got sore hands again from banging the boards. It’s tough, but he gave it absolutely everything. “

Courtney-Bryant improved on the bronze medals won at each of her previous two European Indoors, but admitted she was” gutted “to miss out on gold.

” I went hard down the back straight and felt I had another gear, “she said”. But then my legs just went beneath me. But Sarah ran really well, I am really happy for her. “

Courtney-Bryant’s GB team-mates Hannah Nuttall and Innes Fitzgerald finished sixth and eighth respectively.

Alex Haydock-Wilson, Efekemo Okoro, Joshua Faulds and Alastair Chalmers ran a season’s best 3: 05.49 but could only finish fourth in the men’s 4x400m relay behind the Netherlands, Spain and Belgium.

Morgan Lake finished fifth in the women’s high jump, while Amy Hunt finished sixth in the women’s 60m.

Britain finished third in the medal table two years ago and needed at least one more gold to have any chance of matching that.

But their final position of seventh means they have finished outside the top three in the overall medal standings for the first time in seven editions of the European Indoors.

The team won three golds among six medals overall in 2023, but title-winners Keely Hodgkinson, Laura Muir and Jazmin Sawyers were all absent this time around.

Georgia Hunter Bell came in as GB’s big hope of gold but suffered huge disappointment in the women’s 1500m final, while world indoor pole vault champion Molly Caudery was a late injury withdrawal.

Ingebrigtsen, Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Femke Bol were the headline acts on the final day – and they all delivered.

Ingebrigtsen, 24, matched the record of seven European indoor gold medals held by Soviet-Ukrainian Valeriy Borzov, who won 50m and 60m titles in the 1970s when the event was held annually.

Ukrainian world record holder Mahuchikh coasted to a third consecutive indoor women’s high jump gold, clearing 1.99m as the rest of the field struggled to keep pace.

Serbia’s Angelina Topic cleared 1.95m to take silver, while Sweden’s Engla Nilsson secured bronze having cleared 1.92m at the first attempt.

Four-time Olympic medallist Bol had the final say, running the anchor leg as the Netherlands stormed to victory in the women’s 4x400m relay to top the medal table with six golds and two silvers.

ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final: India beats New Zealand by four wickets

India made it back-to-back global cricket tournaments with a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final in Dubai.

Rohit Sharma led the chase with 76 off 83 balls and KL Rahul’s unbeaten 34 helped India cross the finish line on 254-6 in 49 overs to win the Champions Trophy on Sunday for the third time.

Half-centuries from Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell earlier helped New Zealand, who won the toss and chose to bat first, put on 251-7 in 50 overs on a slow, two-paced Dubai wicket.

Sharma provided a fiery start to India’s innings, hitting seven fours and three sixes. Hardik Pandya scored 18, putting on a crucial 38 runs off 36 balls for the sixth wicket with Rahul.

It was India’s 23rd win in 24 games across the last three men’s ICC events stretching back to 2023 – the only loss coming against Australia in the 2023 Cricket World Cup final.

India won the Twenty20 World Cup final against South Africa last year.

Both sides have previously won this tournament. India’s prior success came in 2013, and it was runner-up to Pakistan in 2017. It also shared the trophy with Sri Lanka in 2002 after a rain-affected two-day final.

New Zealand won the Champions Trophy (then the ICC Knockout Trophy) in 2000, beating India in the final at Nairobi, Kenya. It remains the only limited-overs ICC trophy in the Blackcaps ‘ cabinet.

All of India’s matches were played in Dubai after the Indian government refused permission for its team to visit official host Pakistan on security grounds.

Unbeaten India at the Champions Trophy

India went through the entire tournament unbeaten after wins against Bangladesh, Pakistan and New Zealand in the group phase, and then Australia in the semifinal.

New Zealand beat Pakistan in Karachi, and then Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, before making the trip to Dubai to play India.

The Blackcaps then returned to Pakistan, where they beat South Africa in the second semifinal at Lahore.

Man United, Arsenal Share Spoils In Premier League Blockbuster

Declan Rice’s equaliser denied Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim a much-needed win but Arsenal’s faltering Premier League title challenge suffered another damaging blow in a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Gunners sit 15 points behind runaway leaders Liverpool, now with just one game in hand, with their focus beginning to turn to holding off the chasing pack for a place in next season’s Champions League.

Bruno Fernandes ‘ stunning free-kick put United ahead in first-half stoppage time.

The Red Devils, though, could not hold on for just a sixth Premier League win in 16 games under Amorim as Rice swept home 16 minutes from time.

A point leaves United down in 14th.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was taking charge of his 200th Premier League match.

The Spaniard’s 118 wins in that time places him only behind a stellar cast of Pep Guardiola, Jose Mourinho, Jurgen Klopp and Alex Ferguson in the English top flight.

But his wait for a league title looks set to continue with Arsenal on course to finish second for the third consecutive season.

United have had three permanent managers and an interim during Arteta’s five years in charge of Arsenal.

Amorim said he knows he will not get the time Arteta did to turn around a sinking ship at Old Trafford.

The discontent among the home support could be seen around the stands with many taking part in a protest by wearing black over what they perceive as “the death” of their club.

Arsenal had failed to score in either of their previous two league games to realistically wave goodbye to their hopes of a first title in 21 years.

Despite still missing the attacking quartet of Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, the Gunners hit back in stunning fashion to thrash PSV Eindhoven 7-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Infused with fresh confidence, Arsenal started on the front foot but again missed the focal point of a natural centre-forward.

Midfielder Mikel Merino has been forced to deputise up front in recent weeks and fired wide from the edge of the area with an early opening.

United have struggled for goals all season, but their skipper has remained a source of inspiration and Fernandes produced once more with a sumptuous free-kick just before half-time.

Questions will be asked over Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya’s starting position, but Fernandes still had to whip the ball over an imposing wall and back down into the visitors ‘ net.

Raya rescues Arsenal

If Raya was at fault for the opener, he made amends with a string of saves in the second period.

Noussair Mazraoui and Joshua Zirkzee were the first to be denied as United threatened a second on the counter-attack.

Arteta was able to throw on Martinelli on his return from a hamstring injury in the hunt for an equaliser.

Instead, it was Rice who matched Fernandes ‘ fine finish by arrowing a shot beyond Andre Onana from Jurrien Timber’s pass.

Amorim had dropped Rasmus Hojlund to the bench after a run of 19 games without a goal.

The Dane twice had chances to snap that streak only to be foiled by desperate Arsenal defending.

More Raya heroics followed to stop Fernandes from snatching a winner as the match entered stoppage time.

However, a draw did little for Arsenal’s title challenge.

Arteta’s men edge four points clear of third-placed Nottingham Forest and eight clear of Manchester City in fifth in the battle for a place in next season’s Champions League.

Celine Dion issues urgent warning amid health woes as music career is threatened

Celine Dion’s team has taken to social media to issue a strong warning to fans, addressing the growing issue of AI-generated content featuring the singer.

These digital creations have been circulating online, with some mimicking her voice or musical performances, and even claiming to be new releases under her name. Celine, 56, who last released original music in 2019 with her album Courage, has not put out any new songs since then, following her retreat from the spotlight due to her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis.

The statement from her team clarified: “We are aware that unauthorised AI-generated tracks, falsely attributed to Celine Dion, are being shared online and distributed by various platforms. We want to make it clear that these recordings are not authentic, and are not part of her official music collection”.

Supporters of the singer quickly rallied, expressing their concerns with comments like: “This AI nonsense is getting out of control. There needs to be regulation on this”. Another said: “What a nightmare for Celine! Thanks for speaking out”. While someone else added: “It’s actually kind of terrifying the way AI is taking over absolutely everything”.

While dealing with her health challenges, Celine has focused on recovery, taking the time to regain her strength before planning any new music releases or returning to her residency and tour.

In a conversation with Vogue, Celine shared her experience of first noticing the symptoms of her illness while on the Taking Chances tour in 2008. “I started having trouble controlling my voice. It would go high and then spasm. As a singer, you immediately go to the ENT”, she recalled.

Despite undergoing thorough examinations, doctors couldn’t find any issues with her vocal cords. When she finally received a diagnosis, Celine was surprisingly relieved. “It might sound strange, but when I was diagnosed, I felt a sense of relief. It meant I could finally stop fighting the illness and start working with it”, she said.

Sharing her condition with the public lifted a huge weight off her shoulders. “It’s been a heavy burden, but now that it’s out in the open, I can focus on my reality, and that’s been so liberating. My happiness has returned”.

It comes after Celine commemorated the ninth anniversary of her husband René Angélil’s passing back in January by sharing a heartfelt message and a rare family photo featuring their three sons. In her tribute, Dion expressed that not a day goes by without feeling Angélil’s presence and referred to him as her greatest champion and partner. She concluded with, “We love you”.

The accompanying photograph showcased Dion with her sons: René-Charles, 23, and 14-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson. The family coordinated in neutral tones, with Dion dressed in a cream turtleneck and matching sweats, while her sons opted for tan and white ensembles.

Dion’s full caption read: “René, we can’t believe you’ve been gone nine years already. Not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence, RC, Eddy, Nelson and I. You were my greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me. I honor you and you are forever missed mon amour…. We love you”.
