Gigi Hadid reveals co-parenting methods with Zayn Malik after ugly Yolanda row

Gigi Hadid has offered a rare insight into her life with ex Zayn Malik as the pair continue to co-parent their daughter.

The duo share daughter Khai from their five year relationship. The pair went their separate ways in 2021, a year after Gigi gave birth. Despite their separation, the 29-year-old model insists the pair are raising their child with “love and camaraderie”.

She admitted they have a custody schedule in place and it is something they plan “months in advance”. She also revealed the pair always have each other’s back when it comes to their four-year-old daughter’s best interests.

Speaking to Vogue – where she is April 2025’s cover model – Gigi confessed her work schedule is planned around her parenting plans. While she admitted the planing is done months in advance, she admits it does change from time to time, but gives the pair of them a good basis to work from.

She said the former couple are now in a different phase of their journey, saying they are now working together “with love, and a feeling of camaraderie”. “There is the hard part of the world knowing this much, and thinking they know everything”, she went on. “And at the end of the day, we’re not interested in giving everyone our whole story”.

She then alluded to a row Zayn is said to have had with her mother, Yolanda, following which he was charged with four counts of harassment. In September 2021, the singer pleaded no contest to the charges of allegedly pushing Yolanda into a dresser and calling her a “f****** Dutch sl**”.

Skirting over the incident, Gigi added: “What we are interested in is raising our daughter together, with so much respect for each other, and not just as co-parents, but what we’ve been through together”.

The words echo what Zayn said in July 2023. He revealed at the time he wanted to protect his daughter from a “negative back and fourth” as he spoke out on Yolanda Hadid’s fight claims. Towards the end of an interview with Call Her Daddy podcast, host Alex Cooper said to Zayn: “I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t ask about the 2021 incident. I know you can’t really speak on it. Obviously, as a man, there was a lot out there said about you and you basically took the high road and didn’t say anything about it.

” How do you balance when something is out there about your character that people are reading and people are speculating about. How do you decide when to speak about it? “

Zayn responded:” For me, like what we were talking about earlier, I don’t tend to get involved when people say things online, whether it’s something to do with me or not, because for me the most valuable thing I have in life is time and that takes so much time in a toxic environment, to explain yourself to people and justify this…

“I just kind of keep to myself. I knew what the situation was, I knew what happened and the people involved knew what happened too. That’s all I really cared about. If anybody of a sane mind would look at the situation I believe you could respect that I just didn’t want to bring attention to anything.

Home Bargains slashes high-end beauty product that’s £15 on Amazon to £1.99

Bargain hunters are thrilled to find a luxury beauty product, typically retailing between £15-£19, now on offer at Home Bargains for only £1.99. The discount store, renowned for its budget-friendly offerings, has added this fantastic deal to its latest skincare range.

Home Bargains is now stocking Skin Sapiens Nourish and Hydrate Face Cream with Calendula in its beauty section for just shy of two quid. In contrast, the same product fetches £15 on Amazon and carries a recommended retail price of £18.95, meaning customers can pocket a tidy saving of around £13 by shopping at Home Bargains.

The cream pledges to deliver “better skin” and is infused with calendula to “help relieve that tight feeling caused by office aircon, make-up and late nights”. Calendula is a natural oil extracted from marigold flowers.

Calendula offers numerous benefits for the skin, such as reducing redness, soothing irritation, promoting new tissue growth, increasing blood flow, and accelerating healing. It can also eliminate acne-causing bacteria, remove dead skin cells, hydrate dry or damaged skin, and relieve skin after sun exposure.

Known for its antifungal, antibacterial, and antimicrobial properties, calendula is also rich in antioxidants. These include flavonoids, carotenoids, and polyphenols, which can help alleviate oxidative stress on the skin, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Skin Sapiens Face Cream 40ml (Home Bargains)

The Nourish and Hydrate Face Cream with Calendula from Skin Sapiens is a vegan, animal-friendly moisturiser dermatologically tested for sensitive skin. It features a concise list of just 11 ingredients, is free from perfume, and even showcases the plant-based origin of its constituents directly on the packaging.

You can grab this cream either online or in-store. Home Bargains says: “Discover the Skin Sapiens Face Cream, your go-to daily moisturiser packed with calendula to nourish and hydrate all skin types. With just a pea-sized drop, this vegan-friendly emulsion will leave your skin feeling refreshed and revitalised”! You can also get Skin Sapiens ‘ Oil To Milk Cleanser for £1.99 – down from £23.95.

Many people have praised the cream, as seen in the reviews on Amazon. Chaz shared their satisfaction, saying: “I loved how this felt on my skin! I have extremely sensitive skin on my face and it gets particularly dry in winter”.

Skin Sapiens' £23.95 Oil To Milk Cleanser is also only £1.99 in Home Bargains

Chaz continued: “I wanted to find an eco-conscious product that hydrates my skin, doesn’t feel oily or pasty, and is not perfumed (I find perfume products particularly stingy!) This is EXACTLY what I got with this product! I couldn’t be happier and will definitely be buying more of the company’s products in the future. 10/10 would recommend! “!.

A second reviewer gushed: “Sinks into the skin very easily, and doesn’t irritate my extremely sensitive skin”. Another user chimed in, “My skin feels incredibly supple and soft after using this following a serum! I admit, it can be slightly drying at first, but applying a few extra layers until my face feels nicely plumped does the trick. So far, I’m glad I’ve worked this product into my skincare routine”.

The sudden drop in price at Home Bargains is due to Skin Sapiens announcing that it is closing up shop. The company shared the following message on its website: “After nearly eight years, from making balms in a kitchen to working with global retailers, it’s been an incredible journey.

” Despite our best efforts, we’ve struggled to reach the scale needed to fulfil our vision. Sadly, we’ve made the tough decision to bring the curtain down on Skin Sapiens. It’s been a privilege to be part of your skincare routine. “

Home Baregains continues to live up to its name as it is selling several other beauty products for far less than their recommended retail price. For example, shoppers can get L’Oreal’s £14.99 Revitalift Pro-Retinol Anti-Wrinkle Eye Cream for £3.99.

Arrested on ICC warrant: What was Duterte’s ‘war on drugs’?

Former Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, wanted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity, has been flown to the Hague hours after being arrested in the capital Manila on Tuesday.

The ICC warrant seen by Reuters accuses Duterte of criminal responsibility for the murder of at least 43 people between 2011 and 2019 as part of his war on drugs as mayor of the southern city of Davao and later as the president between 2016 and 2022.

Duterte wanted his trial to take place in a court in the Philippines. “If I committed a sin, prosecute me in Philippine courts”, he told police officers while in custody in Manila.

Here’s what we know about Duterte’s war on drugs and the reactions of families of victims.

What was Duterte’s ‘ war on drugs’?

Rodrigo Duterte built his reputation as “the punisher” while he was the mayor of Davao for more than 20 years, though he served intermittently. During his on-and-off tenure, more than 1, 000 people were killed, including suspected drug users and dealers. Rights organisations have accused Duterte of running a “death squad” as mayor, a position that he held until his last term ended in 2016.

His pledge to launch a nationwide crackdown on drug gangs became the feature of his successful presidential campaign in 2016.

Just after taking oath as president on June 30, 2016, Duterte vowed to solve the country’s illegal drug problem within six months. “I don’t care about human rights, believe me”, he later declared.

He also offered soldiers and police his “official and personal guarantee” of immunity from prosecution for deaths undertaken in the performance of their duties.

On July 1, 2016, the first full day of Duterte’s presidency, police carried out anti-drug operations across the country, killing at least 12 people and ushering in a bloody campaign for the next six years that would leave some 7, 000 people dead, including women and children.

By December 2016, more than 5, 000 people had been killed across the country, including 2, 041 drug suspects slain in police operations, according to data gathered by Al Jazeera. The other victims were killed by unknown gunmen, some of whom would later turn out to be police officers.

In Duterte’s first few months in office, many of the victims were found bound, their remains dumped in polluted creeks, garbage dump sites and grasslands.

By the end of his term in 2022, human rights advocates and the ICC prosecutor estimated some 30, 000 people were killed by police and unidentified individuals. But police only reported 7, 000 deaths during police operations, omitting those killed by unknown perpetrators.

What was the public’s reaction to the war on drugs?

Throughout his presidency, Duterte enjoyed a high approval rating from the public, allowing him to push for his brutal anti-drug war agenda.

Right after he took office in 2016, he received an approval rating of 86 percent. And just before he left office in 2022, his approval rating was at 73 percent, according to a Pulse Asia survey.

At every turn, Duterte’s pronouncement about his bloody war on drugs was cheered on by an adoring public. In 2017, a national assembly of city and provincial legislators roundly applauded when he said there was nothing he could do if poor people were killed in his war on drugs. He also complained that the media were “treating victims as saints” and “innocent people”.

An Amnesty International report in 2017 found that most of the people who were killed were living under the poverty line. The report said that police officers also confessed to receiving reward money equivalent to $150 to $300 for every drug suspect they killed, creating an “incentive to kill”.

Surviving Duterte’s war on drugs

While many of the victims in the drug war met their untimely death, a few have survived to tell the tale of police executions and abuse.

In September 2016, Francisco Santiago Jr told Al Jazeera that he and another man were detained by police in Manila, before they were brought to a darkened alley and shot multiple times.

Santiago’s companion, George Huggins, was killed on the spot. But Santiago stumbled on the ground and played dead. He got up after journalists came to the scene, and his rescue was dramatically caught on camera. His testimony to the media was later included as evidence in the complaint filed before the ICC.

Roger Herrero met a similar fate in 2018. The young father of four from Quezon Province was shot by police at point-blank range, shattering his jaw. He was accused by police of robbery, and of attempting to flee using a motorcycle. But Herrero’s wife later told photojournalist Ezra Acayan that the victim does not even know how to ride a motorcycle. Herrero also played dead to survive, and only managed to get up and ask for help after the police left.

In another case in 2017, the Commission on Human Rights found a hidden cell inside a police station in Manila with 12 detainees cramped inside. The agency said that there was no record of their arrest and the police failed to notify their families or lawyers about their disappearance. In 2021, the government dismissed the complaint against the police officers, accused of the illegal detention.

Children not spared

As of June 2020, four years into Duterte’s drug war, an estimated 129 children had been killed by police or allied assailants, according to a Reuters news agency report that cited an activist group.

One of the youngest to have been killed was three-year-old Myca Ulpina, who was hit during a 2019 raid targeting her father in the Rizal Province just outside of Metro Manila. Police claimed that the child was used as a “shield” during the operation.

On Negros Island in the central Philippines, four-year-old Althea Fhem Barbon was also killed after police fired at her and her father while they were on a motorbike. Police claimed that her father was a drug dealer.

One of the most high-profile cases was the killing of Kian delos Santos, who was shot by police in an alley near his house in 2017. According to witnesses, the 17-year-old had pleaded with police to let him go, because he was still studying for his exams the next day. Police claimed he was armed. But CCTV footage of the incident showed police dragging the unarmed and helpless teenager just moments before he was shot dead.

Just a few days later, police were also accused of abducting two teenagers in another Manila suburb. Police said that the teenagers had tried to rob a taxi driver. In the ensuing police chase, the elder victim, Carl Arnaiz, was shot dead.

What’s the reaction from families of victims, rights groups?

Llore Pasco, the mother of two young men who were killed in an alleged police operation, told Al Jazeera she’s “filled with mixed emotion” after learning of Duterte’s arrest.

“I felt so nervous and scared, but also excited”, she said.

“My eyes were also filled with tears. At long last, after so many years of waiting, it’s happening. This is it”.

She said that the ICC is her one last hope for justice, adding that she has “little to no hope” of obtaining justice in the Philippines.

Pasco’s sons, Crisanto and Juan Carlos, went missing from their neighbourhood one day in May 2017. The family’s worry turned to shock and grief after they learned only from television the following day that the two were killed, accused by police of robbery.

Pasco said her sons were killed in a police rubout. Her testimony has also been included among the filings before the ICC in 2021.

Jane Lee, wife of a drug war victim, said that the arrest of Duterte shows the inequality in the Philippines justice system.

“Duterte is only being arrested now. But our family members were executed right away”, Lee said. “I want to see Duterte in jail”.

Did the Philippines withdraw from the ICC?

Duterte said he would withdraw from the ICC barely a month after the ICC said in February 2018 that it would conduct a preliminary investigation into the deaths. He withdrew from the Hague-based court in March 2019.

But under ICC rules, even if a state withdraws as a member, the court retains jurisdiction over crimes within its administration that are committed during the membership period.

The ICC investigation was suspended in 2021 but reactivated two years later after the Hague-based court said it was unsatisfied with Philippine efforts to dispense justice.

Who will triumph in tight Championship promotion race?

Getty Images

Daniel Farke has been around the block marked ‘ Championship promotion race ‘ enough times to know that as significant as Leeds United’s win over Sheffield United on 24 February may have felt in the moment, it was, as he rather unromantically said, “just three points”.

Common consensus at the time was that victory would lead to the Whites gradually starting to break away from the Blades and Burnley.

But two weeks later, without those three points, they would now be third.

While Leeds have drawn with West Bromwich Albion and lost at Portsmouth, Sheffield United and Burnley have enjoyed back-to-back wins, so automatic promotion is now a matter of just two points between the three sides.

The top six in the Championship table with Leeds manager Daniel Farke looking pensiveOpta

The Championship is rarely a league where it is particularly smart to make predictions on forecasts of what definitely will happen. Sometimes it is just best to take in the chaos and unpredictability of it all and hope your team comes out on the right side it.

The margins between immediate passage to the Premier League and the potential pain of the play-offs means no-one involved can be so relaxed – and there is a palpable sense of pressure around each and every game now.

Over the past 48 hours, both Leeds boss Farke and his Sheffield United counterpart Chris Wilder have used the phrase “to the wire” in terms of how this promotion race is going to go, and you would imagine Burnley manager Scott Parker will be following them pretty soon.

What do their respective run-ins looks like?

Leeds United

Based on the respective league positions of their opponents, Leeds have a far more agreeable run-in among than their automatic promotion rivals. On current standings, the highest-placed team they have to face are Bristol City, in seventh, at Elland Road in the penultimate game of the season.

As a side point, the Robins have not won at that particular ground since 1979, so while they may be the ‘ best ‘ team Leeds are still to play, the hosts have the considerable weight of history as well as the carrot of Premier League football.

Sheffield United

The play-off seeking Robins are the visitors to Bramall Lane on Tuesday, followed by the Steel City Derby this weekend – which is shaping up to be a pretty defining few days for the Blades.

Not to mention the arrival of Coventry City after the international break, with Frank Lampard’s side having won nine of their past 10 to thrust themselves into play-off contention.

That trip to Turf Moor on Easter Monday also looks pretty seismic given the small margins that exist between these teams and the potential for that win to separate Sheffield United from the Clarets, and potentially vice versa, of course.

Burnley defender Bashir Humphreys holds off the challenge of Sheffield United's Callum O'Hare Rex Features

Burnley

Of the automatic promotion contenders, the Clarets have by far the toughest schedule, with three top-six teams to play – starting with West Brom – and matches against four others who would consider themselves to be in the play-off hunt.

Sunderland

The Black Cats have it all to do. But with the lack of expectancy and pressure, it could lead to them creeping up the table and applying further stress on those above them.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on your viewpoint, they don’t face any of the three teams above them – which could enable them to take points off their rivals – but they do take on Coventry and West Brom before the end of the season, who occupy the places immediately below them.

How are they expected to finish?

Anger giving way to anxiety and angst may have abided among Leeds fans following their defeat at Portsmouth, but according to Opta’s prediction model they are still forecast to come out top of the Championship pile at around 14: 30 GMT on May 3.

What’s the magic number?

Based on the past 10 Championship seasons, the average points of those securing a place in the top two has been 92.4, or 93 should you wish to round-up for simplicity and peace of mind.

Leeds and Sheffield United are 17 points shy of that mark, and require 1.7 points per game over the remainder of the campaign to get there, while Burnley are 19 adrift and need 1.9, and Sunderland 25 and 2.5 – further emphasising the turn of events that needs to transpire for the Black Cats to get over the line.

For reference, Leeds have averaged 2.11 points per game this season, and Sheffield United 2.16 (taking into account their two-point deduction) – the Whites 2.3 over their past 10 and the Blades 2.4. Burnley are on 2.05 for the campaign overall and 2.2 taking in their previous 10.

West Brom secured their place in the top flight in 2019-20 with just 83 points, as the lowest number within this sample size, whereas at the other end of the scale, Ipswich Town stormed over the line with 96 among second-placed teams.

Of course, that isn’t necessarily what’s required to make it, because ultimately all a runner-up needs to do is finish above the side in third by means of one point or even just goal difference – pertinent given how tight things currently are.

The average points recorded by third-placed teams over the past 10 seasons has been 85.1, which leaves 86 as a potential number to rubber-stamp promotion, but so close are the contenders in 2024-25, that seems a dangerously low target.
