TV star Stacey Solomon posted a heart-felt Instagram story with her followers as she revealed that she was re-wearing her wedding dress to attend the BAFTA TV Awards. The 35 year old mum of five, married actor turned presenter Joe Swash in 2022 in a lavish ceremony surrounded by friends and family.

But since the couple’s memorable day, her wedding gown has been safely tucked away – until now that is. The TV presenter has chosen to re-wear her wedding gown to tonight’s BAFTA TV Awards red carpet and it’s already proving to be a nostalgic moment.

The TV star, who became a national favourite following her stint on the X Factor in 2009, posted a video of her stylist and friend Faye, sat at her sewing machine while altering her gown.

She captioned the post saying: “Today I’m wearing my wedding dress. It makes me so sad that this is my favourite most special dress I ever bought & I’ve only ever worn it once.” She added that the fact she had only worn it once prompted her to ask Faye to tweak it slightly to make it red carpet ready.

And immediately, Stacey was inundated with comments from fans. One person wrote: “That’s a fabulous idea Stacey.” Another person penned: “Can’t wait to see you in it x.” A third said: “Omg” Can’t wait.”

Sharing snaps of the finished dress on her main Instagram grid, Stacey was all smiles as she posed in her altered wedding dress at her Pickle Cottage home. “off to the BAFTAs,” the mum-of-five began in her caption. ” I’m so excited & so grateful to have been nominated for TWO @bafta this year. What in the heck is life.”

“Thank you BAFTA for this honour. And thank you to my @sortyourlifeout family & @bbciplayer for giving me the chance to present the most special show, it’s the best job in the world & I love every second of it. I decided to have my wedding dress re worked for today because wearing it once feels like a travesty to me.

“I wanted to get her out of the box & take her out on another special day. Thank you @fayesawyerstylist & Issy for transforming my wedding dress into something so special & beautiful. I love you girls. Thank you penny for making me feel so beautiful as always. HERE WE GO! Fingers crossed.”

Last year, Stacey and her team won the National Television Award for Sort Your Life Out but earlier this month, Stacey turned the cameras on herself, as she filmed her own reality TV show.

The BBC reality show follows her and life with Joe at their sprawling Essex home, along with their children, ducks and dogs. But it seems watching the show back themselves has highlighted issues in their own marriage that they had previously overlooked.

And now, following the first series, the couple has sought the help of a marriage counsellor. However, the show was clearly a success as the BBC has commissioned a second series of Stacey and Joe.

At the time, a source told OK!: “They underestimated how difficult it was going to be doing this reality show and having cameras around, and watching it back hasn’t been the easiest thing.”

They added: “The pressures of all the kids and work while balancing their relationship has been hard, they won’t deny that. They’re going to therapy because they love each other and would never want to get to the point where they don’t want to be together anymore.”

The source continued: “Yes, there have been ups and downs and it’s been quite a rollercoaster – but they know there’s no shame in therapy and both realise it’s the best thing for their relationship and to iron out their issues.”

Amber Heard welcomes twins into her family as she shares newborns’ unique names

Amber Heard has revealed she has welcomed twins. The actress, who has started a brand new life after her high-profile split from Johnny Depp, shared a touching post with her followers as she announced the news.

She posted a sweet snap of her daughter Oonagh’s feet alongside her newborn siblings. Alongside the image, Amber said: “Mother’s Day 2025 will be one I’ll never forget. This year I am elated beyond words to celebrate the completion of the family I’ve strived to build for years.

“Today I officially share the news that I welcomed twins into the Heard gang. My daughter Agnes and my son Ocean are keeping my hands (and my heart) full.

“When I had my first baby girl Oonagh four years ago, my world changed forever. I thought I couldn’t possibly burst with more joy. Well, now I am bursting times three!!! Becoming a mother by myself and on my own terms despite my own fertility challenges has been the most humbling experience of my life.

“I am eternally grateful that I was able to choose this responsibly and thoughtfully. To all the moms, wherever you are today and however you got here, my dream family and I are celebrating with you. Love always, A x.”

Amber announced her pregnancy in December through a statement. “It is still quite early in the pregnancy, so you will appreciate that we do not want to go into much detail at this stage.

“Suffice to say that Amber is delighted both for herself and Oonagh Paige,” her representative told People. Amber now lives in Madrid, Spain.

The actress was once in a high profile romance with Johnny Depp as they were married from 2015 until 2017. They were involved in a defamation trial in 2022 following their divorce.

The Aquaman star has opted to live a low-profile life since the end of the trial, which saw a jury return a verdict in Johnny’s favour. Amber said there was too much “chaos” following the verdict, leading her to ditch Hollywood for Spain.

She initially moved to the island of Mallorca but opted for an upscale neighbourhood in Madrid. Amber revealed in July 2021 she had welcomed daughter Oonagh into the world three months beforehand, having decided to become a parent “on [her] own terms”.

Alongside a professionally shot picture of herself holding her baby, Amber wrote on Instagram at the time: “I’m so excited to share this news with you.

“Four years ago, I decided I wanted to have a child. I wanted to do it on my own terms. I now appreciate how radical it is for us as women to think about one of the most fundamental parts of our destinies in this way.

“I hope we arrive at a point in which it’s normalized to not want a ring in order to have a crib. A part of me wants to uphold that my private life is none of anyone’s business. I also get that the nature of my job compels me to take control of this.

“My daughter was born on April 8, 2021. Her name is Oonagh Paige Heard. She’s the beginning of the rest of my life.”

Derry camogs in skorts protest at Ulster Final

Inpho

The camogie controversy that has made headlines over the past week continued on Sunday as Derry players were told to change from shorts into skorts before their Ulster Senior Final defeat by Antrim.

Last weekend, the Dublin and Kilkenny teams in the Leinster senior semi-final were forced to change into the skorts required under camogie rules after taking to the field in shorts.

The ongoing row led to Munster Camogie postponing Saturday’s scheduled provincial final after the Cork and Waterford players confirmed their intention to wear shorts in the game in protest at the sport’s rule.

Cork and Waterford’s players responded by saying that they felt “completely let down” by the decision.

The sport’s governing body, the Camogie Association, has called a Special Congress for 22 May to vote on the issue, which if passed would give players the option to wear shorts from 24 May.

Derry initially took to the field in Dunloy on Sunday with half their team wearing shorts and half playing in the regulation skorts.

However at the coin-toss, match referee Philip McDonald reminded joint-captain Rachel McAllister of the current dress-code rule and the Derry players returned to the dressing-rooms before coming back onto the field with all of them wearing skorts.

Prior to the game, the Derry squad said they had taken the decision that half their players would wear shorts to “stand in solidarity with fellow players who wish to have the right to choose whatever uniform they wish to wear while playing our beloved sport”.

“We understand that officials must stick to the current outdated rules of the game and ask that all officials are respected regardless of the outcome of our protest,” said the Derry statement.

“We hope that our protest clearly demonstrates to the Congress the need for change.”

The Oak Leafers were defeated 2-17 to 1-11 by Antrim, who opted to wear the regulation skorts as they retained the Ulster title.

A Nicole McAtamney goal helped Antrim to an early 1-3 to 0-1 lead but Derry fought back to level at 1-6 to 0-9 by half-time with Orlaith Hull hitting six of the Oak Leafers’ first-half points, including two from play.

Roisin McCormick’s free-taking accuracy moved the Saffrons four ahead in the third quarter only for a Aimee Lennon goal to cut the margin to 1-11 to 1-10 in the 47th minute.

However, Antrim outscored Derry 1-6 to 0-1 in the closing 15 minutes of action with Orlaith McAllister hitting their second goal in added time.

Kirsty Wark will be awarded a BAFTA Fellowship for her exceptional contribution to television at the The BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises at London’s Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on May 11. The prestigious event is set to be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer and will see the Scottish born journalist accept the honour.

Kirsty, 70, was born on February 3 1955 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, and is well known for her career in broadcast journalism. She is married to television producer Alan Clements with whom she tied the knot in 1990.

Kirsty and Alan share two children and live in Glasgow. She has previously been honoured for her work when she received the Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting accolade at the 2013 British Academy Scotland Awards.

The couple saw their home become a work hub not just for them but for their children – Caitlin, 35, a TV executive, and James, 33, who works as an actor – when COVID pushed them all to stick under one roof. At the time Kirsty discussed what it was like to suddenly have a full home again with all the family in it.

She also happily discussed their differing careers while talking to The Sunday Post. She said: “The house is full – there are five of us here, all working away, my husband is running his media companies, with his staff all working from their homes.

“My daughter is usually in London, she’s a development researcher for Eon Entertainment, and my son runs a theatre company in New York, so he’s here doing some teaching, writing, doing courses and planning productions. We’re not sure when he’ll get back to America. And my daughter’s fiancee, who is a civil servant, is also working from here.”

Kirsty hosted Newsnight for 31 years between 1993 and 2024 when she stepped down from her role after the general election coverage ended. She first joined the BBC in 1976 as a graduate researcher for Radio Scotland.

Following the announcement of her departure from Newsnight Kirsty hit out at BBC execs over cost-cuts on the show that led to the change. Speaking to Emma Barnett on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, Kirsty addressed the broadcaster’s decision to make cuts to BBC Two’s Newsnight. She said: “It was really a tough time for everybody.

“In this world, it’s all about the brand and Newsnight is a massive brand for BBC Two. Especially in an election year, every single night we will interrogate what is going to be a critical election.

“So, it’s not about killing it,” Kirsty said before adding: “Some people wanted to kill it maybe. But, lots of people didn’t want to kill it and I think whatever happens down the line, it’s going to be in hale and hearty health. We won’t have some of our best editors, but we will still have Nick Watt running up to an election.”

Kirsty admitted that she would not have made the same decision as the broadcaster. She continued: “I’m going to be bullish about this and I think I wouldn’t have done it.

“I loved Newsnight the way it was, but your point about linear [TV] is not lost. Everybody has to change and so I think there is a future for Newsnight and I think it will be in a different format.”
