Champions League winners? Best moment? Star player? Pundits’ picks

It represents club football’s pinnacle.

On Saturday night in Munich, Paris St-Germain and Inter Milan will square off against one another for the Champions League title.

In an expanded tournament that has resulted in shocks, drama, and scores, 36 teams from all over Europe have been reduced to two after 188 matches.

The tournament will be won by who?

Paris St. Germain expert and Spaniard Guillem Balague. More players appear to be performing at their best right now.

Julien Laurens, a French football expert, says it’s difficult to call, especially if you’re a PSG fan. Inter have a lot of experience, which can help them win big games. Although my heart says PSG, my head is more centered and difficult to do so!

Italian football expert Mina Rzouki: I prefer PSG because Luis Enrique is a master at meistering these types of contests.

Ex-Germany midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger, a pundit for the Champions League match of the day, and Thomas Hitzlsperger, a pundit, says: “It’s a tough one because I admire Inter very much for making it to the final and they obviously deserve to be here.”

However, I’ve seen more of Paris St-Germain, and I’ve been so impressed by how they play.

I believe they will prevail, but anything is possible because I’ve been impressed by Inter, particularly when they lost to Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals, by how well they defend and how they can endure such long periods of suffering and find the right opportunities to attack.

Ousmane Dembele, just, balague. It has been amazing to watch his development and the leap forward at Paris St. Germain.

Laurens: I’m going for Ousmane Dembele, though Raphinha is one of the contenders. His transformation this season has been incredible. He initially appeared to be leaving, but he has.

He is a great guy in the dressing room for everything he has done and how he changed the perception we all had of him. He used to play until 3 a.m., then go to bed, and then awaken late. was behind schedule for training, and it was unpopular. When you have the skills to succeed in a professional sport and have the qualities to succeed, it wasn’t that discipline.

He finally arrived there at age 27. He married and established a lot of discipline. And Luis Enrique has done a fantastic job of making him aware that leaders must lead and act in a certain manner both on and off the pitch.

In the 1073-000 minutes of Champions League play this season, Dembele has scored eight goals, five of them on his right foot and three of his left. He also has four assists.

Rzouki deserves praise, but I’ll give it to PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. Lamine Yamal and Ousmane Dembele deserve mention.

The Paris St-Germain goalkeeper has kept five clean sheets this season’s competition, with only Yann Sommer (seven) and David Raya (six) keeping more. He has also made some important saves during the French side’s run to the final.

Hitzlsperger: Normally, you would choose one of the finalist, but I think Raphinha because of his outstanding Barcelona performance.

I’ve been so impressed with Achraf Hakimi that it must be a PSG player.

I’m going to pick Raphinha because it’s difficult, but I’m going to do it because I’ve seen him perform exceptionally well overall.

One of two from that Barcelona team, according to Nicky Bandini, Champions League Match of the Day pundit. Everyone wants Yamal, but sometimes numbers come in, and Raphinha‘s numbers in this tournament are ridiculous.

Top assists provider and joint top scorer. And Raphinha once more scored in that absurd semi-final against Inter, when we were all enthralled by Yamal’s deeds.

Raphinha had a remarkable campaign, scoring 13 goals and adding nine assists in 14 games, despite his semi-final defeat to Inter Milan.

What data are gathered from this quiz?

Moment of the tournament

Balague: I’d say Lamine Yamal did the semi-final between Barcelona and Inter Milan in its first 45 minutes at Montjuic, and how that went. Yamal’s incredible first-half display led Barca to victory after the club trailed by 2-0. In the end, it wasn’t enough, but it was a powerful display.

Laurens: Probably due to Lamine Yamal’s performance in the semi-final against Inter’s first half. We had the impression that something was magical watching.

Rzouki: Tough, but I’m going to score Francesco Acerbi’s goal in Inter Milan’s semifinal against Barcelona.

Hitzlsperger: As a fan of Aston Villa, do you mind if I mention Jhon Duran scoring against Bayern Munich? Thinking about that brings back some fond memories of Villa’s Champions League moments, which are special to all Villa fans.

Wales seek statement win in fairytale city

Nations League: Wales vs. Denmark

Odense Stadion, Odense Date: Friday, May 30th Kick-off: 18:15 BST

Live coverage on the BBC Sport website and app, as well as live text commentary, BBC Two Wales, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio Wales, and Radio Cymru.

In the run-up to Euro 2025, the Wales squad is already at a high level of tension.

The lowest-ranked team in Switzerland will make its debut at a major finals in less than a month.

They must avoid losing to Denmark on Friday if they want to avoid dropping out of the top tier and have yet to record a win in League A of the Nations League.

With matches against former champions, current champions, and traditional women’s football powerhouses in store this summer, it’s important to keep in mind that Wales have never been able to win a game in the top 20 of Fifa’s rankings.

Despite the strides they have made, the Welsh camp’s mood is more determined than resolute.

With just two games left before Denmark take on a team that is ranked 12th in the world, head coach Rhian Wilkinson declared, “This team is ready to win, let me tell you.”

As Wilkinson and Wales prepared for a city full of opportunities for inspiration, they looked it too.

And while talking about fairytales in Hans Christian Andersen’s birthplace is tempting, there is more significance in the case of another son of Odense, whose name is adorned a stand above the venue where Wales will play.

The stadium’s entrance is a tribute to Richard Moller-Nielsen’s monumental accomplishment, the country’s 1992 greatest shock, as it was led by the manager.

A team that wasn’t supposed to compete in the men’s European Championship won.

A side that has undoubtedly earned the right to be at this point and is fervent about improving should therefore be reminded of the possibilities.

Wales have consistently been competitive this time around, despite their most recent defeats in League A.

“Every game is a challenging game against opponents who have won numerous Euros and World Cups,” said captain Angharad James.

BBC Sport

They are progressing, and there is proof of it.

Italy and Denmark both lost to Wales by one goal. They had a great chance to defeat Denmark in Cardiff a month prior, but they were soon to concede.

And they came back from a 1-1 draw with Sweden in Wrexham with a top-notch performance in Gothenburg that gave the same result.

They have appeared defensively sound, caused issues on the counter, rarely overawed, and are aware of where they need to improve if they want to match opponents’ strengths instead of defeating them.

“This is where we want to be,” Wilkinson remarked. Now that they understand that their position is among the best in Europe and those top nations, “These teams consistently have high scores, but these are tight margins.”

Some people claim that the draw with Sweden could have been Wales’ best ever, but it’s only “so-far,” because it’s going to keep getting better. “We want to keep getting better, we’re not going to celebrate getting ties with big nations,” he said.

James expressed his desire to know more about the side, which was aided by Wilkinson’s commendable decision to provide young people with experience during this campaign.

Rhiannon Roberts was one of the people to acknowledge this week that Wales will need to be more clinical in front of goals to improve their defensive record if they are to capture the statement victory.

The Real Betis defender said, “The foundations are there, defensively we’ve been fantastic, and now we need to put a little more pressure on ourselves to take our chances,”

“But we already have the mentality to defeat these opponents.”

Wales only needs to demonstrate that it can take the scalp, even though Wilkinson denied that it is necessary before Switzerland.

The man making darts for the world’s best players

Murray, Matthew

He has a long list of world champions to his name and is one of the most successful sports designers.

Lee Huxtable’s status in the darts community is unknown, though.

Luke Humphries won the 2025 Premier League darts championship on Thursday night, sealing his victory at the O2 in London with his own creation.

For the tournament, which has been running since February, Mr. Huxtable has also made darts for Gerwyn Price, the semi-finalist, and Dutch player Michael Van Gerwen.

Head of development Lee Huxtable, is pictured next to cabinet which contains five rows of darts. He is pointing at one dart, and is wearing a black polo shirt. Lee is bald with short stubble.

Mr. Huxtable attempts to name every world champion who has created darts for Red Dragon Darts while heading up development.

“Terry Wright, Gerwyn Price, Michael Van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, Trina Gulliver,” by Gerwyn Price. “The names keep coming,”

Mr. Huxtable has contributed a significant amount to the success of many players, including World No. 1 Humphries, through his leadership in his field.

A long-shaft, front-weighted short barrel with a good amount of drag and a perfect angle on the board allows Luke Humphries to score points.

Every darts player is unique, and Peter “snakebite” Wright’s world titles mean a lot to him, me, and him and hundreds of concepts, he said.

His darts are “all-encompassing,” with a long range of thicknesses.

“We had chemists working on one diamond-coated dart for 18 months. However, with it, he eventually won a world title, which was very satisfying. “

Mr. Huxtable created darts for the PDC and BDO world champions in 2020.

Both Wayne Warren and Wainwright praised Mr. Huxtable for his contribution to making them the world’s best.

The engineer said that while working with players can take years, there are times when you experience a eureka moment, which can greatly improve a player’s game.

Jonny Clayton, a Welsh dartsman from Carmarthenshire, has won four titles with his darts, and Mr. Huxtable is also making darts for him.

“Jonny Clayton’s game changed overnight, and it went from strength to strength,” he said.

He has a great personality. “

Before he and Price squared off at the O2 on Thursday, Mr. Huxtable has been finessing his former world champion’s darts from Caerphilly county.

He claimed, “I’ve never seen Gerwyn Price’s focus be that strong.”

He made it into the top 32 as a former rugby player who had only ever played socially.

He continued, “He said that’s not good enough, and he was unhappy with how he made it to the top 16.”

Mr. Huxtable, who has spent about 25 years working for Nodor’s Bridgend headquarters, has also traveled to Kenya where their darts are mass-produced for the retail market. He is from Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

Red Dragon Darts is a subsidiary of the family-run Nodor group, which moved its darts and dartboards production to Kenya after buying the Winmau brand about 20 years ago.

The east African nation’s sisal plant grows naturally, making it the best material for bristle boards, lowering operating costs.

In 2023, Nodor opened its own sales and distribution center in Dallas, Texas, where it employs 1,000 people and produces 30,000 sets of darts and 20,000 dartboards weekly from its factories in Kenya.

According to Mr. Huxtable, “It’s always about the technology that goes into the dart for performance enhancement,” which is most crucial to me.

Darts is currently referred to as having reached its third golden age and is now watched by the second-highest viewers on Sky, after Premier League football, with the Luke Littler effect fueled by the junior game.

Luke Littler, 17, won the world championship at Alexandra Palace in January, with the help of more than three million spectators.

“The youngsters have catapulted the game; we are seeing 12 and 13-year-olds throwing yet another level of darts for that age,” said Mr. Huxtable.

South Korea set to break early voting record as presidential election looms

More than 12 million voters cast ballots in South Korea in preparation for the nation’s upcoming presidential election, breaking a record for early voting.

More than a quarter of South Korea’s 44.3 million eligible voters are now voting early, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency, which is the figure that was at midday on Friday.

Before the official vote on Tuesday, in which case South Koreans will choose Yoon Sook-yeol will be replaced, early voting began on Thursday and will end on Friday.

In December, Yoon temporarily declared martial law in South Korea before the National Assembly overturned the controversial decision.

The former president claimed that anti-state and North Korean forces had influenced the government’s infiltration, leading to his decree declaring martial law and ordering the arrest of opposition politicians.

Yoon was impeached the same month, but he didn’t take office until April when the constitutional court of South Korea approved the impeachment vote.

Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party’s front-runner, received 42.9 percent of votes in the final poll before the election, according to Yonhap, Kim Moon-soo from Yoon’s conservative People Power Party, who received 36.8 percent.

Lee Jun-seok, a conservative candidate for the New Reform Party, who had only 10.3% of the vote, was a distant third place behind the candidates.

According to David Lee, a journalist from Seoul, electorate turnout has been highest in regions of South Korea with the Democratic Party, while turnout has been lowest in conservative districts like Gyeongsang Province.

He told Al Jazeera, “The Democratic Camp has much higher morale now, especially after the historic impeachment trial.” On the other hand, PPP supporters are navigating murkier waters.

A divided public has mobilized both for and against the impeached Yoon in South Korea, where the vote is expected to end months of political unrest.

According to Lee, early voting provisions have also contributed to the election period’s prevalence of fraud conspiracy theories.

According to Yonhap, South Korean police reported an increase in the vandalism of campaign materials and reported that they had arrested at least 690 people over the course of a related incident this week.

Following threats to his life, frontrunner Lee admitted to wearing a bulletproof vest and installing bulletproof glass at campaign rallies.

Additionally, according to police, they reported 11 instances of threats to Lee and one to the candidate of the New Reform Party on social media this week.

Carl and I had many wonderful years together. Words cannot adequately express the love we have shared for more than 60 years. I appreciate your compassion and prayers. In this challenging time, the family has requested privacy.

Dolly revealed she “truly believes she’s going to see him again someday” almost three months after his death.

During a conversation with The Independent, the actress admitted that she “sees him every day in her memories and in her heart.” I really feel his presence, the 10-time Grammy winner continued.

“I just make an effort because I know I have to,” I said. And while he was ill for a while, a portion of me was content to know that he was well and not suffering any longer. But that doesn’t even cover the loss and loneliness.

Dolly previously shared an update with concerned fans, saying she was “doing better than I thought I would.” Speaking to Knox News, she said: “I’ve been with him 60 years. So, I’m going to have to relearn some of the things that we’ve done.

But I’ll keep him close at all times. Carl had suffered a lot “to the end of his life,” according to the Jolene singer, who also emotionally revealed this.

I’m happy that he’s happy, but that doesn’t stop me from missing and loving him…

She said, “We’ve got a hole in my heart, you know, but we’ll fill it up with good things and he’ll still be with me.”

Later, Dolly thanked fans for their kind words and expressed gratitude for all the messages, cards, and flowers I’ve sent in my husband’s memory.

Although I can’t speak directly to each of you, I am aware of how important it is to me. I’m happy that he’s now in God’s arms. I’ll be there for you forever.
