The 1872 Cup was won for the fourth time in a row by the Glasgow Warriors after coming home from Edinburgh with victory in a mostly dull match at Murrayfield.

With only two points in the half-time period left, Cammy Scott kicked Edinburgh’s only points of the half while the hosts held a 24-12 overall lead from last weekend’s first leg.

When George Horne burrowed over from close range and Dobie scored a wonderful second to win, the second period largely remained a non-event.

Edinburgh had stated their intention to fire more shots this time around after a brutal attacking performance at Hampden in the first leg, but Scott knocked over a penalty to give the home side an early lead. However, they once again failed to offer any meaningful threat.

The match struggled to get into any kind of flow, not least of which due to a number of injury stoppages that occurred throughout the match. There was no shortage of desire and physicality on display.

Glasgow fly-half Adam Hastings grabbed a pass from Horne, stepped inside a defender, and kicked a precise cross-field kick into Dobie’s corner for the first time.

Edinburgh’s attack was failing to offer much, but Glasgow’s offense was sparked by Glasgow flanker Angus Fraser’s high shot on Scott, who was sent to the sin-bin for a high shot.

Edinburgh’s action was almost nonexistent, and even the numerical advantage couldn’t bring it to life.

Warriors eventually ran out for one last run before Edinburgh were ruined when Horne sniped close to the line for the try that earned the win.

Gavin and Stacey star Mathew Horne ‘devastated’ after ex-girlfriend died of leukaemia

Mathew Horne, the actor from Gavin and Stacey, has revealed how devastated he was when a former girlfriend was diagnosed with cancer and ultimately passed away.

Gavin and Stacey star Mathew Horne has spoken out about how his former girlfriend died after being diagnosed with leukaemia. The actor is known for his role as Gavin Shipman in the hit BBC comedy drama and has opened up about how he dealt with the tragedy in what he referred to as a “very, very sad time”

In a heartbreakingly honest conversation with broadcaster Gyles Brandreth, 77, Mathew, 47, described his ex as an “amazing girl.”

Appearing on the Boxing Day episode of Gyles’ Rosebud podcast, Mathew explained how he went through a “very difficult” time when the unnamed woman was diagnosed with the disease.

He told the This Morning presenter: “She was a very very dear friend. It wasn’t like a sort of lustful passionate union like it was with the school relationship. It was quite an interesting one. We were really close friends and everybody thought that we should be together, and eventually we did.”

The woman’s death after her diagnosis was then explained by him. He declared, “She sadly passed away. She passed away in January 2004 after being diagnosed with leukaemia in 2003.

He continued, “Very sad. At the time she passed, we weren’t strictly together. Although we had been separated for about a year, there was still a connection, it is obvious. It was a very challenging time.

Leukaemia, a type of blood cancer, affects bone marrow cells by attacking the immune system. The body produces too many abnormal white blood cells, which hinders the body’s ability to defend itself from infection.

Mathew and his wife Celina Bassili, who he married in 2021, rekindled their romance. In her native country of Norway, the couple tied the knot in a heartfelt ceremony.

They were seen posing in an adorable image from the ceremony where they embraced at the Oslo based mansion where they got hitched, with the couple sharing the picture with their fans on Instagram.

Mathew previously popped the question to Casualty actress Evelyn Hoskins in 2018, with the duo enjoying a short engagement. However, just one year later he was seen kissing Celina after they had worked together on the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special in 2019.

In Wales, the two were spotted together outside a Burger King. During the same podcast, he mentioned his wife and said, “It became very obvious that she was the one.” About a year before my mother passed away, I met her.

Celina remained by my side throughout what was a truly terrible time until I lost my mother. My love for her grew and grew as our relationship progressed. I just knew from that moment on that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her.

Mane Rescues AFCON Draw For Senegal Against DR Congo

Senegal, who is 2022 champions, and the Democratic Republic of Congo drew 1-1 with the Democratic Republic of Congo in their Saturday heavyweight Africa Cup of Nations match.

With only one game left to play, Senegal will continue to lead Group D thanks to Cedric Bakambu’s opening score of just after the hour mark in Tangiers.

Before their final group game against Benin on Tuesday, Senegal had a better goal difference despite the two teams having four points.

After winning 1-0 to Botswana on Saturday in Rabat, Benin now has three points. Neither team has scored in the bottom three.

After suffering a devastating defeat at the previous meeting of the nations, World Cup qualifying in September, Sebastien Desabre’s Congolese side sought retribution.

Senegal won the matchup 3-2 in Kinshasa, going on to win the match and leading their group to advance to the next year’s North American finals.

In order to avoid being eliminated from the World Cup in March, DR Congo must now enter a one-off play-off against either New Caledonia or Jamaica in Mexico.

Senegal had more possession and chances on the day thanks to Botswana’s 3-0 victory, which is seen as perhaps the biggest threat to Morocco’s chances of capturing the title on its own soil.

Theo Bongonda, the Leopards’ top scorer, scored the only goal in their opening game win against Benin in the 61st minute after Edouard Mendy’s fine pass was parried by goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who scored the winning goal.

Senegal, however, were only eight minutes into the game when Ibrahim Mbaye, a young substitute, made a superb run.

The 17-year-old Paris Saint-Germain winger Mbaye, who was born in France and has represented them until the Under-20s, recently committed to Senegal, for whom he has a parent who qualifies.

Just after Bakambu’s opener, he made the leveller from a perplexing run down the right. He took the place of Ismaila Sarr.

Mbaye slammed into Arthur Masuaku, who appeared to be hurting himself before being blocked by Lionel Mpasi, but Mane was on hand to score.

Former Liverpool legend Mane, who is playing in his sixth tournament, scored 10 goals in the AFCON.

We would have lost that game last season – Guardiola

Although Pep Guardiola advised his players to avoid being overweight during the holiday season, Manchester City still has a lot of fat.

After Guardiola had threatened to drop anyone who consumed too much at Christmas, City remained two points clear of Premier League leaders Arsenal, who also won on Saturday.

City’s momentum was bolstered by Saturday’s 2-1 victory, which was their eighth consecutive victory in all competitions, as they attempted to turn the title-race tables in their favor.

In January, they have a tough nine games to play, including their Champions League group stage finale and their first game of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Newcastle.

City are the division’s top scorers, but they have lost two of their previous 15 games and are currently the top scorers in the division after falling behind in two of their opening three Premier League games.

After a crucial victory, Guardiola thinks City have since found their groove.

They were so frustrated by Forest that Erling Haaland couldn’t stop talking about them. They were also bullied by center-backs Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic.

Milenkovic’s brutal Milenkovic beat Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Josko Gvardiol avoided receiving a yellow card for kicking the ball away.

City have won 24 of the past 27 points, with the exception of a 2-1 defeat at Newcastle in November, despite not having a classic performance.

Guardiola said, “Instead of having no chance, how you suffer, how you defend, accept that you’re not playing well and can be better and be in the game,” is more important. Last season, that game was lost by 10 points.

It’s good to finish with three important points because the team has long wanted to do it and it’s the final game of the season.

“They are three points, but they’re a lot of three points, primarily because the opposition’s quality is outstanding.” A proper team has been created by Sean Dyche, who was competing for the Champions League a few months ago.

It has a top side, they say. Although I am aware that the side’s quality is affected by the lack of momentum, it does not.

Joe Hart, a former City goalkeeper who won two Premier League titles while playing for the club, thought it was a crucial victory.

Look at the way they celebrated, he said to TNT Sports, “They know what a difficult day it was.” Although it was a total battle, the championship-winning performance came out. You find a way when your back against the wall.

After winning the previous four titles, City came in third place last season, 13 points behind leaders Liverpool.

Guardiola dealt a severe blow to the team, and he revealed heart-to-heart talks with them during the summer’s Club World Cup, which re-established their focus.

“The Club World Cup changed at the time, in my opinion.” We spoke and spoke, and a lot of things happened, he said.

It’s a process right now. You had a lot of games of this kind when we won a lot of titles at Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and here.

Because they believe the team wants to do it, they want to fight for each other, according to the body language and connection between how we interact with the fans.

“We are on the lookout,” the phrase means.

Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri are on Africa Cup of Nations duty, but City are without the injured Jeremy Doku, John Stones, Oscar Bobb, and Mateo Kovacic.

Rodri’s return to the squad, who had endured a hamstring injury, was therefore a significant improvement.

The midfielder hasn’t played a minute since October, and Guardiola only needs to add more time because of his inclusion in the squad.

Nico Gonzalez has replaced him while Tijjani Reijnders, who has now won twice in his debut season, has sent a warning to Arsenal and other title rivals.

Jamie Redknapp says ‘we got a lot of stick’ in rare mention of ex-wife Louise

As he reflected on his early years of football career, Jamie Redknapp explained how dating pop star Louise Redknapp caused backlash.

Jamie Redknapp said dating Louise Redknapp contributed to him “getting a lot of stick” at the height of his football career. In 1991, the sportsman signed for Liverpool FC and made his debut in a UEFA Cup match that year aged just 18.

Due to their youth and prominent lifestyles, Jamie, 52, and a number of his teammates were nicknamed the “Spice Boys” during their 11 years at the club.

As part of this period, Liverpool won the Football League Cup (also known as the Coca-Cola Cup) in 1995 and it was around this time that Jamie met Louise, who was a member of Eternal.

After many doubted his abilities, the father-of-two said in his reflective years that he was determined to show that he had “the mental strength” to succeed.

When the public learned that Jamie was dating singer Louise, Jamie gained even more attention.

He stated in a statement on the Making A Scene podcast that: “We won the Coca-Cola final, which was the lead cup at the time. We were called The Spice Boys because of our young team.

Avoiding naming his now ex-wife, he went on to explain to hosts David Walliams and Matt Lucas: “We got a lot of stick because I was dating a popstar, David James was modelling for Armani, John Barnes was just John Barnes, Jason McAteer [was there].”

For the past 20 years, Jamie and Louise have two sons, Beau, 17 and Charley, 21.

The singer reportedly cited “unreasonable behavior” in the singer’s divorce proceedings at the time of their split in 2017.

After a few years, the pair has since developed new relationships.

Jamie became in love with Swedish model Frida Andersson for the first time. Raphael, the couple’s son, is now four years old, and she was expecting him in 2021.

She had four children with American hedge fund manager Jonathan Lourie before becoming a wife.

Speaking recently on The Romesh Ranganathan Show, the football pundit made a rare admission about moving on from Louise and the impact it had on their children.

He said, “I have to be honest when I tell my eldest son that Frida was pregnant, that it didn’t go well with Charley.

If I’m being honest, when I told him that Frida was pregnant, he said, “I went to pick him up at school and told him that.”

He added: “I got it, I totally understood it because his world had been turned upside down — you’re married, everything feels straightforward, and then you meet someone else and you get married again.”

In 2023, Louise started dating businessman Drew Michael. The mother-of-two regularly updates her on social media about their relationship, including last year’s Glastonbury Festival together.

Marilyn Granas dead: Shirley Temple’s first stand-in dies aged 98 after dementia battle

Marilyn Granas, a legend in Hollywood, passed away at the age of 98. Along with Temple, she had previously appeared in blockbusters like Bright Eyes, Curly Top, and The Little Colonel.

Marilyn Granas, the original body double for Shirley Temple as Shirley Temple’s child star, passed away at the age of 98. Her family has revealed that the Beverly Hills resident had passed away in October.

Her nephew, a historian of film, Arthur Grant, gave an update on her dementia. Grace was a part of numerous acclaimed Hollywood productions, including The Little Colonel, Curly Top, and Bright Eyes.

Granas stood just feet away as Temple and Bill “Bojangles” Robinson delivered their iconic staircase sequence during the latter’s production. Granas remained secret about her involvement in Temple’s life for years, worried that it would overshadow her other accomplishments.

She continued, “I made a new life and made the decision not to be Shirley Temple’s stand-in.”

However, she revealed that her relationship with Shirley was “best friend” in an interview from her 40s. We had a wonderful time together. We created a variety of games, and we were always forced to play “house” in all these wonderful locations when the sets weren’t being used.

Granas expressed her sympathy for Temple’s unusual upbringing in a 2016 interview with Closer, saying that her childhood was “unnatural.” She was denied access to a public school. She didn’t have many friends or be able to ride bikes or do kid things.

It was just the two of us on the set, they said. We never engaged in any other child play.

Granas later transitioned to a position as a casting director for NBC, where she participated in the 1955 Television Academy’s “Miss Cinderemmy” beauty contest. She played a crucial role in William Morris’ casting department before launching her own Beverly Hills-based agency over the course of more than three decades in the field of casting.

Fans of her work took to social media to express their condolences after the news of her death was revealed. One user wrote on Twitter/X: “#RIP Marilyn Granas, Shirley Temple’s replacement in “Bright Eyes” and other movies.
