Reading and Leeds 2026 headliners spark disappointment over one major change

Fans have expressed their disappointment with the lineup after Reading and Leeds Festival announced their headline acts for the following year’s events.

The 2026 headliners from the Reading and Leeds Festivals, which include some well-known names, have been unveiled. The announcement has sparked a common query among music lovers, who have noticed something missing from the lineup of the world-famous festivals.

The two major festivals have announced their 2026 headliners, with fans looking forward to performances from Charli XCX, Dave, Florence and the Machine, and Raye. It’s also been revealed that Kasabian, the band hailing from Leicester, will be headlining Leeds Festival on Thursday for the first time ever.

The special guests scheduled to appear at the festival the following year were also given a sneak peek. Skepta, Role Model, Jade, Sombra, Kneecap, and Geese are included in this list.

However, many festivalgoers appear to have noticed something missing from the lineups of both festivals after the announcement. Rock and metal acts, traditionally associated with the festival, are absent from social media.

One Reddit user, @Killerpig14, responded to the announcement by suggesting the festival was lacking in these genres, writing: “Looks like another year of no rock and metal acts”, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Not a single 00s metal or rock act on there, according to another fan, @Robotdogdoo. I must admit that I’m disappointed.

Other festivalgoers have expressed disappointment, suggesting that the festivals have abandoned showcasing genres they’ve previously championed, such as rock and metal. Third festival fan, identified as @Qu4ckAttack, cheekily remarked, “Reading isn’t the rock fest of old.”

Another fan, @raceplatt, responded, “I guess they’re trying to satisfy their largest customer base, especially those who have just begun to study rock/metal.”

Another festival attendee, @Consistent-Bat1632, commented that they were doing so well to incorporate rock back into RandL with BMTH and Limp Bizkit last year, but it seems like they’ve completely changed this year. I suppose I was hoping for Muse because it was only mainstream then.

Not all fans, however, are disappointed by the alleged lack of rock and music on the festival lineup. Reddit user @RandomName00_ reacted to the debate over whether rock and metal artists should perform at the upcoming Reading and Leeds Festivals, saying that “contrary to popular belief, an act isn’t worthwhile based on how many guitars they play, and festival organisers don’t have to prioritize rock/indie.”

However, some fans have defended the lineups for the Reading and Leeds Festivals, suggesting that one of the “most hyped” rock bands has recently made the list.

American rock band Geese was named one of the special guests for the upcoming year’s festivals in the most recent announcement for the Reading and Leeds Festivals, which received applause from some festivalgoers. One user using the handle @Look_Alive responded to criticism of the line-up on Reddit, saying, “Geeese are one of the most hyped rock bands in quite a long time.

Nancy will take charge of Celtic this week – O’Neill

According to interim Celtic manager Martin O’Neill, Wilfried Nancy will be playing in the Celtic dugout for the Scottish Premiership game against Hearts on Sunday.

The Glasgow club has been in advanced discussions with the Columbus Crew head coach for almost a week and appears to be close to appointing a deal.

Since Brendan Rodgers left as interim manager, O’Neill has won six of his seven games, narrowing Hearts’ position at the top of the Scottish Premiership and guiding the Parkhead outfit to a Premier Sports Cup final spot. He has been in charge for more than a month.

The 73-year-old, who had previously led the organization between 2000 and 2005, had already stated that he anticipated Sunday’s trip to Hibernian, which Celtic won 2-1, to be his last outing at the club.

O’Neill, however, made it clear that he would lead Celtic before Nancy took over the reins for Wednesday’s league game against Dundee.

O’Neill told TalkSport, “He is the man who will be coming in.”

“I believed it was over on Sunday, but there is still some paperwork to be handled. My final game will undoubtedly be on Wednesday.

Nancy’s new club could win the title with a win in his first game as manager if Dundee and Hearts defeated Kilmarnock on Wednesday.

O’Neill said, “It’s a nice one for him [against Hearts], a nice introduction.” Naturally, it will be a challenging game, and I wish him all the success. At least he’s gaining some self-assurance from the side.

O’Neill has lost just once in the Europa League, winning 3-1 at Midtjylland, thanks to his success on the field in the previous five weeks.

However, the former Republic of Ireland manager and his players reacted with a 3-1 victory over Feyenoord last week to claim their first away victory in Europe since 2021.

With three games to go, Celtic are 21st in the 36-team table, facing Roma, Bologna, and Utrecht.

O’Neill said, “We lost to Midtjylland. That was a challenging game because Nottingham Forest had already defeated them a few weeks prior. It was fantastic to win away from home at Feyenoord.

Will I Were You? Be wise.

O’Neill says it has given himpause as the interim boss has been asked about whether he wants to stay in charge in the future.

He responded, “I genuinely don’t know.” After Wednesday evening, I’ll have a wee bit of a reflection.

It wasn’t simple, they said. Failure was a big concern, which is always a big one. I’d once boasted that I could handle the position just as badly as many other managers.

I’ve gained a lot of knowledge. I have some excellent young coaches working alongside me, which has helped me greatly in many ways by interacting with young people every day.

The former manager of Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Republic of Ireland, who claims that is entirely up to Nancy, decides whether he wants to work as a consultant for Celtic.

The incoming manager must ultimately decide that, O’Neill said.

He ought to have complete freedom. That’s fine if he wants my opinion on certain things. That is completely unrelated to his lack of knowledge.

When he enters the breach, he says, “It’s very much his team.”

When the full-time whistle blew on Wednesday, TalkSport host Jim White posed the question to O’Neill to end the interview.

London Spirit name Knight as women’s general manager

After deciding not to play in the 2026 edition of The Hundred, Heather Knight has been appointed as general manager of the London Spirit’s women’s team.

Knight and Mo Bobat, both of whom have been hired for the newly created position, will collaborate to provide top-notch perspectives on the women’s game.

She will continue to play for Somerset domestically and represent England.

Knight, 34, has been a part of London Spirit since it first started in 2021, winning the title in 2024 and serving as team captain in its first four editions.

She didn’t participate in the 2025 competition because of a hamstring injury, but she continued to coach and mentor the team.

In the previous year’s The Hundred, I had a fantastic time playing for the franchise and also coaching it. In this brand-new chapter of the women’s team, I’m really excited to collaborate with Mo and the head coach,” Knight said.

“This is a huge development opportunity for me, but I’m still very much committed and passionate about playing for England and Somerset.”

It gives me the opportunity to gain insights from one of the top minds in the world of video games, Mo, as well as expand my horizons in terms of my professional game.

Heather’s deep knowledge of the women’s game and what is required to perform at the highest levels, according to Bobat, makes her the ideal choice for our first women’s general manager.

She “knows what it takes to win The Hundred,” and the franchise will benefit from having one of the game’s most prominent current players play such a crucial role.

Gladiators star Fury heartbroken as dad dies after horrific accident

Fury, the actress behind The Galactictors, revealed that her father passed away in a tragic accident. Phil Ounsley, a 56-year-old mixed martial artist, tragically collapsed on Sunday in one of Yorkshire’s Three Peaks before suffering a rumored heart attack.

Fury, 24 years old, also known as Jodie Ounsley, wrote “Heartbroken” on Instagram along with a photo of her father when she was a child. My dad passed away while he was walking Pen-y-Ghent, one of his favorite pastimes, yesterday.

None of us were aware that he wouldn’t ascend that day despite the fact that he had hiked that peak numerous times throughout his life. The words are not mine. He was and will always be my absolute hero, that is all I can say.

Fury, the Gladiators’ star, shared this heartbreaking condolence for her father (@jodieounsley/Instagram).

Jodie continued, “He loved me unconditionally and encouraged me to dream big,” and I will forever be grateful for that.

“Until we reunite, Dad,”

According to The Sun, paramedics battled to save Phil by airlifting him from the 2,277-foot peak, but it is believed that it was too late.

Phil was “perfectly fit and healthy,” according to a source close to the publication. Everyone who knew him knows how shock-struck he was by his death.

He did a lot for charity, and he was truly great. Additionally, he was constantly pushing himself to help others.

Because of the lifestyle he led, “Phillip is the last thing you would anticipate this happening.”

They added that Jo and Jo’s daughter Jodie, Jack’s son, and Jo’s wife were all “devastated.”

Jodie, who will appear in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special next Tuesday, became a top-flight show on BBC’s reboot of the beloved 90s show. Globarians .

The professional rugby player has played for the Loughborough Lightning, Sale Sharks, and England Sevens and Chiefs before launching his professional career.

However, Jodie made the announcement last year that she would be resuming playing rugby to look for other opportunities.
