Everything you need to know about the 2026 Reading and Leeds Festival

  • The first six 2026 acts have been announced by The Reading and Leeds Festival. Charli XCX, Dave, Raye, Fontaines DC, Florence and the Machine, Chase and Status, and others have been confirmed as the major names.
  • This first headliner announcement is historic because it marks the first time the entire headline lineup is made up entirely of Irish and British artists in 25 years. This focus highlights a significant change in the festival’s booking strategy.
  • By opening its Main Stage on Thursday night, the Leeds Festival site introduces a new tradition. Kasabian has confirmed to be the show’s headliner for Bramham Park’s special opening night.
  • Over the August Bank Holiday weekend, the annual dual-site event will once again take place. The dates for 2026 are scheduled for August 27 through August 30 at Little John’s Farm in Reading and Bramham Park in Leeds, both well-established locations.
  • Numerous other artists from a variety of genres were also included in the initial announcement, confirming the event’s diverse lineup. Skepta, Role Model, Kneecap, Chris Stussy (Reading only), and Sombr are other confirmed acts.
  • Only the first line-up of acts for the 2026 festival lineup is included in the revealed list. In the upcoming weeks and months, organizers have confirmed that many more artists will be announced.

Batting for Ireland with brother ‘a privilege’

Tim Tector, the brother of Heinrich Malan’s team’s starting pitcher, describes it as an “unbelievable privilege” as they try to make history in their crucial T20 international against Bangladesh on Tuesday.

With a victory for Ireland, they would become the first Irish men’s team to defeat an Asian Full Member in a series and gain some momentum as they prepare for the 2026 T20 World Cup in February.

Harry Tector and his younger brother joined the team for the three T20I matches that followed, losing both of their November Test matches to the Bangladeshis.

Harry finished third in the batting order, ending unbeaten on 69 and Tim contributing 39, and Ireland won the first of those matches with 39 runs.

As Bangladesh won the second game by four wickets on Saturday, Tim scored 38 and Harry 11-11.

“It’s obviously very cool playing baseball with Harry.” It didn’t feel that different batting with him because we’ve done it for a while in our home and club stuff,” Tim said.

“It’s obvious that this is a slightly bigger occasion, but I do know it’s a privilege to play on the same international team,” he said.

The Tectors’ love of cricket is so strong that other players have also played the sport.

It’s truly a family affair. At a World Cup, our older brother Jack was the Under-19s’ captain, which I believe happened in Bangladesh.

Harry and our father both performed the same, and I did the same. Alice, our youngest sister, has also joined the women’s team.

Players “have the freedom to express themselves.”

Ireland head coach Heinrich Malan Sportsfile

The first two meetings between the teams were night games, but Tuesday’s game will be a day game.

The younger Tector brothers remarked, “We’ll have to wait and see,” but the pitch might be a little drier without the dew.

“I’ve got a couple of starts coming up, and I’ve obviously been disappointed,” he said. “I don’t mind if I’m going to get out while looking to keep that momentum moving outside the powerplay, rather than bat for a score.

For me, the key to success with powerplay batting is to “take the game to the bowlers.” I enjoy lattice moving because it allows me to access various areas of the ground and keeps my body moving.

“It’s more about knowing what I’m trying to do and being both confident and informed about what that is,” says the author.

Heinrich Malan, Ireland’s head coach, acknowledged that the Tector brothers were “two big players” in the squad.

“Hopefully they can go out there and continue to honor themselves and their families and advance our team,” said Malan.

The Ireland coach said that despite “some real progress over the last two games,” there were still some areas where improvement could be made.

We made it clear that this series was a part of our T20 World Cup preparation when we first started this series. He said, “We haven’t had the amount of cricket we would have desired throughout the year, but that’s in the past.”

“We’re just focusing on where we’re at right now.” The quality of the thought and process that we put into the first two games really shined in the results.

Indonesia races to find missing after massive floods, landslides

NewsFeed

In the wake of days of tropical storms, more than 1, 000 people have died as a result of floods and landslides in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia. As aid teams battle their way to remote areas, President Prabowo is under increasing pressure to declare a national emergency in North Sumatra.

World champion Zhao makes fine start to UK campaign

Media PA

With a dominant first-round victory over fellow compatriot Long Zehuang, reigning world champion Zhao Xintong had a strong start to his UK Championship campaign.

In May, Zhao, 28, defeated Mark Williams 18-12 in the Crucible final to become the first Chinese player to win the World Championship in snooker.

Zhao made breaks of 107, 68, 51, 59, 52, and 72 on day three at the York Barbican, making 6-1 of Long, a 28-year-old UK debutant.

Long, who is 54th overall in the world rankings, battled through three qualifying rounds to reach York and was unable to hold back Zhao’s 6-0 defeat.

After declaring his intention to play snooker in the world of snooker in 2021 by defeating Luca Brecel 10-5 in the final in York, Zhao experienced a rollercoaster.

Zhao was then one of the ten Chinese players who received a corruption ban.

Zhao did not directly play the game; instead, he was initially given a two-and-a-half year suspension that was later reduced to a year and eight months. He accepted the accusations that he had personally cheated on matches with other players and had been a party to them.

He made history as the first Chinese world champion to win the tournament after winning the UK Championship last year and then a sensational nine-match run from the first qualifying round of the World Championship to the Crucible final.

Zhao described how his life had changed since his victory over Long.

You need to do more, he said, “but I’m trying to learn, and now being a world champion is very different.” I’m learning to enjoy the table and enjoy winning any match because it’s a lot of pressure, which is a big problem for me.

I’m trying to get the balance right and trying to get better because this is my first time being famous and I’m very busy. This is not entirely true, in my opinion!

Zhao hopes to make another extended run to York Barbican, a place that will always be near his heart.

He continued, “I have good memories here because this was my first championship; Barbican is my lucky location, so I enjoyed that today.” I’ve only just begun, and I’ve not yet finished, so I can improve in every way in the future.

Zhao revealed that his family was so agitated they couldn’t watch his World Championship final, but that he is also the one who gets the nerves when he plays.

They turned off their phones and went on a city walk because the pressure was great, Zhao said. They called three hours later to get the message that he was the world champion because they did not want to look at the TV.

They gave me a big hug when I returned home. It was my first hug in 20 years, and I thought it was wonderful.

The top 12 Chinese players compete in the UK Championship, which is the highest total at a Triple Crown event, and at least five of them are in the final 16. Zhao hopes that Ding Junhui’s success in the China Open will inspire other players, just like he did Ding Junhui, who won the same tournament in 2005.

Zhao added, “It’s very good for Chinese players and Chinese snooker is very strong right now.” Everyone gains confidence and strength because I won the World Championship, which also helps them.

Katie Price hits back in new feud as presenter brands her a bully who called her ‘scruffy’

Miranda Sawyer claims the mother-of-five told her to shut up after being accused of bullying a journalist and calling them scruffy.

Katie Price has been labelled a bully by a TV presenter who says the star told her to shut up. The former glamour model, 47, reportedly labelled the female author “scruffy” at an event in Leeds. They also claim the mum-of-five told them to “shut up” more than once. But the claims have been almost immediately shot down by Katie, who called them a “liar”.

The feud comes after journalist Miranda Sawyer spoke on a recent episode of the Glue Factory Podcast. She was speaking alongside comedian Milo Edwards when she made the allegations. The author and journalist, 58, claimed: “I once got bullied by Katie Price, I feel like I should tell you about that.” The alleged incident is said to have taken place in 2022. Miranda explained how she had been tasked with writing a “feminist take” on Katie.

She claimed to have been at a club with the star, but security searched and stopped her. She said to me, “They only stopped you because you’re scruffy,” Miranda said.

The journalist continued, “And I was like, okay. Then we conducted the interview, which turned out to be okay and I went for lunch while she said, “Shut up, no one is listening. And I said, “OK!

And I made a noise of some kind, and she said, “Shut up, no one is listening.” Miranda then chuckled at the situation. Katie appears to have a different perspective on what transpired, though.

Katie was quick to respond in the comments section after the clip was shared on social media. What a liar, she rebutted the accusations in a sharp manner. Fans were divided online over which story was true because of the potential feud.

Another user supported Katie’s position while another user said, “That’s so awful oh I bet she’d apologize to you now.” They said, “It sounds like half a story to me. Although I’m not a fan of Katie, I’m interested to hear her side of the story because it seems like she is omitting her own words and actions.

It comes as Katie admits she must stop vaping after concerning discoveries. Katie, whose mum, Amy, 73, is battling Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), posted a sobering message on her Instagram page and confirmed she needed to start looking after her own health.

A shocking X-ray of a diseased lung was uploaded, according to Katie, who stated, “Vaping has officially been linked to rare and irreversible lung disease.” Then, she said, “I have to stop.”

She admitted that her mother has lost her independence after receiving a lung diagnosis while hosting her podcast, The Katie Price Show, earlier this year. The NHS claims that Amy’s condition causes scarring in the lungs and difficulty in breathing. Prior to this, doctors informed her that she could live to be five years.
