Chris Paul Axed By Los Angeles Clippers

Chris Paul, a 12-time All-Star, was fired by the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday in a shocking move that comes as the team approaches the bottom of the NBA standings.

In a social media post on Wednesday morning, Paul, 40, revealed that he had left the Clippers while on a road trip in Atlanta.

Paul, who signed a one-year deal with the Clippers this season, was informed that he was being sent home.

In a statement made available to US media, Clippers’ CEO Lawrence Frank later confirmed Paul’s exit.

Chris and I are going to end our relationship, according to Frank. We will collaborate with him as he moves forward in his career. ”

At the end of the current season, Paul is said to have made plans to leave the NBA. The veteran, who joined the Clippers in 2011 and left in 2017, had previously spent six seasons with the team.

The Clippers’ franchise leader in total steals and assists is the fan favorite.

Following weeks of unrest between the player and coach Ty Lue, Paul’s exit was reported by ESPN.

According to the report, which cited unnamed sources, the Clippers believed Paul had become “disruptive” after the pair had been arguing for “several weeks.” ”

Lue said the return of the ex-long franchise star “wasn’t a good fit,” as he told reporters before the Clippers’ game against the Hawks in Atlanta on Wednesday. ”

Lue described the abrupt breakup with Paul as “I don’t like it.” I don’t like it for CP because it just didn’t work out as we anticipated.

It simply wasn’t a good fit, she said. That is what we knew. They made the decision, and so we have to see what we do going forward. It was an organization. ”

Every year Paul was on the Clippers’ roster, but they never made it past the Western Conference semi-finals.

With a 5-16 record this year, the Clippers are only one place off the Western Conference’s bottom.

Paul, who was hired as a bench player, has only averaged 2. 16 appearances for a total of 9 points.

Frank, the head of the Clippers, asserted in a statement on Wednesday that Paul was not to blame for the team’s subpar campaign.

Chris has a legendary career and is a legendary Clipper. One thing should be very clear, I want to say. No one is blaming Chris for our subpar performance, Frank said.

I accept liability for the information currently available. There are many causes of our difficulties. We’re appreciative of Chris’s influence on the franchise. ”

What’s on Nancy’s Celtic to-do list?

Wilfried Nancy has made an appearance at Celtic, promising “exciting, attacking, winning football” to come. But priorities must first be established.

After overcoming Heart of Midlothian’s eight-point deficit, Martin O’Neill will leave, allowing the Frenchman to begin his Celtic Park reign by defeating the faltering early leaders on Sunday to claim the top spot in the Scottish Premiership.

The 48-year-old has a testing start with Roma visiting in the Europa League in midweek and St Mirren hosting the Premier Sports Cup final on Saturday. Wins are the only real currency that matters in Glasgow.

Hit the ground running

Time is perhaps the one thing a new Celtic manager needs but is in short supply, according to their nemesis. Nancy will need to navigate the first large block of fixtures with little trouble, so he’ll need to learn how to navigate it.

The schedule is difficult, with Rangers’ first game on January 3rd being the first of his derby against Rangers scheduled every three or four days.

A game at Hampden with silverware up for grabs and a Hearts visit that will decide the league leader will be played in the foyer also serves as an old-fashioned game.

Before the end of the year, negotiations must be made regarding a challenging assignment for Roma with the goal of winning the Europa League.

Ensure success in influencing culture.

What is clear about his time at Montreal and the Columbus Crew is that some of the current Celtic squad members may experience a bit of a culture shock as a result of playing “Nastyball.”

The new boss will have little time to practice on the field despite the frantic schedule of games and favors a 3-4-3 formation with a very high defensive line in front of a ball-playing goalkeeper.

He has fewer opportunities to impart any fresh ideas because of the number of matches and recovery time.

Start making plans now

Everyone is aware that recruitment in 2025 was largely unsuccessful, including the Celtic board.

In the face of the new challenge from Hearts and the traditional one from Glasgow’s south side, the club must advance further in Europe and maintain their top-dog status at home.

Therefore, Nancy will need to come up with a plan for who he wants to bring in and who he can’t afford to lose.

The board’s admission that Celtic could and should have spent more money in the previous two windows is what makes him happy, as well as the relative strength of Celtic’s bank balance.

Create connections

He has never succeeded in Europe, much less the Glasgow Goldfish Bowl. Therefore, Nancy will need assistance if he wants to succeed. From the Celtic community, his players, and his board of directors.

This situation might be similar to that of Ange Postecoglou’s first few months of rule. Although much more successful and experienced than Nancy, who took his first-ever management position in senior football the same year, he also was a relatively unheralded arrival back in the summer of 2021.

The Australian’s style of play was immediately appealing to a sizable portion of Celtic fans, who then latched on to lose half of his first six Premiership matches.

By the end of February, he had a chance to completely overhaul the league leaders, but he never looked back.

Nancy’s issue is that he is starting out in the middle of the season and has a weaker squad.

He will rely heavily on Calum McGregor, his captain. The man who has spent more than ten years running a successful dressing room.

McGregor had a significant impact on Rodgers and Postecoglou. Unconcerned, Nancy will continue until the Frenchman can gain a foothold in the Scottish game, at least for the time being.

Before selling the right-back to Celtic, he developed Alastair Johnston in Montreal. Is the Canadian a future Celtics’ captain under the guidance of his former boss? one that is for the future.

Two words, as appropriate, should help Nancy understand the value of managing upwards: Brendan Rodgers.

The talismanic Northern Irishman, who was adorned with green and white ribbons, had everything working out for him. until it wasn’t, which allowed the club’s largest shareholder to sour.

Find the best backroom team

Nancy will have some crystal-clear ideas for how he wants to work. He will be able to identify someone who will assist him in that endeavor in the same way.

His long-time friend Kwame Ampedu appears to be traveling with him. He and Paul Tisdale were both at Exeter City when he and Celtic’s head of football operations met.

Nancy will also understand the value of thorough local knowledge. Additionally, it wouldn’t be out of stock.

Shaun Maloney, Stephen McManus, and Mark Fotheringham are currently serving as O’Neill’s interim staff. Could the new management team ask one of those coaches? It is still ambiguous.

Nancy will value a thorough understanding of the current squad’s problems and potential. He will have his own ideas for how to maximize their potential.

Mark Wood, an England bowler, has doubted his ability to play in the third Ashes Test due to a knee injury.

Wood, 35, returned from knee surgery for the first Test in Perth after nine months, but his left knee was ruled out of the second Test in Brisbane due to concerns.

Between the start of the third Test in Adelaide and the scheduled end of the second Test, there is a week.

Wood told Channel 7: “I believe there is a chance there for Adelaide.”

“More realistically, it’s probably more Melbourne and then [Sydney] after that.

Wood has struggled with injuries throughout his career despite being one of the fastest bowlers to score for England.

Prior to his 15-month suspension in Perth, he had an elbow issue, left knee surgery, and then not played a test.

Wood managed eight overs in his first Test match against the England Lions before suffering tightness in his left hamstring when he made his on-field comeback before the first Test.

He was cleared of any hamstring issues and given a pass for fitness to play in Perth, where he had match scores of 0-44.

Wood’s availability enabled England to carry out a long-awaited strategy to start beating Australia at the Ashes.

England’s opening day of Test cricket was their fastest overall bowling day thanks to a five-man pace attack at Perth Stadium.

Conor McGregor Sexual Assault Lawsuit Dropped

Conor McGregor, an American woman who claimed she was sexually assaulted at an NBA basketball game, has dropped her lawsuit against the Irish mixed martial arts fighter.

Following a 2023 Miami Heat game, McGregor, one of the most well-known and financially successful fighters in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, had refuted the allegations of sexual battery.

A Florida court on Tuesday issued a notice of voluntary dismissal for the woman, who was first identified as a 49-year-old Wall Street executive.

The alleged incident had already sparked a criminal controversy for the prosecution.

In June 2023, McGregor was present for the Miami Heat’s NBA Finals Game 4 encounter with the Denver Nuggets as part of a sponsorship deal to promote a pain-relief brand.

At the conclusion of the game, McGregor apparently met the mysterious woman in the VIP area of the venue.

It is claimed that McGregor later allegedly assaulted the woman in a restroom while leading her to a men’s restroom.

In a separate sexual assault case in Ireland last year, McGregor was found guilty and ordered to pay a woman who had accused him of rape about $250, 000 in damages.

After missing three drug tests in a year, the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion was given an 18-month suspension last month.

McGregor will be able to fight again by March of next year because the suspension was postponed until September 2024, which could allow him to compete at a UFC event that is scheduled to take place on June 14 at the White House in honor of US President Donald Trump’s birthday.

Survivors recall terror of landslides from North Sumatra cyclone

At 2: 30 a.m. (09: 30 GMT), Sri Yuni Pardede, 20, was with her family at home when a thunderous crash woke them up. It was just thunder, according to my mother-in-law. No, the house is shaking, I said. She recalled that boulders suddenly came down.

“My younger sibling was staying over,” my sister said. I kicked him to avenge the landslide, which had occurred. We would have all perished in that house if we had all slept. Sri fled to the nearby church after grabbing her daughter Eleanor. They watched horrified as another landslide completely destroyed their home from the top of the hill.

The family has been residing at the church for a week along with hundreds of other displaced victims. At least 770 people have died as a result of the cyclone-caused floods and landslides, with 463 still missing, according to government data.

We were all saved, please. What matters is that the children and everyone else survived, she said, not that our possessions can be replaced. However, the trauma persists. I become frightened whenever I hear a door opening or closing, as in the case of a door. I’m a shocker if there is any loud noise. I overheard a helicopter making noise on our first day at the church. We’re going to die! screamed I. I nearly passed out because I believed there had been another landslide.

Armed clashes reported between Yemeni army and southern separatists

In an effort to advance towards the strategically located al-Ghuraf area in the oil-rich Hadramout governorate, local sources reported armed clashes between the Yemeni army loyal to the internationally recognized government and STC (Second).

Following clashes with the army, STC forces stormed the presidential palace building in Seiyun, southern Yemen, on Wednesday, according to videos posted by local activists.

The sources added that the STC forces were stationed in the Seiyun plateau’s Jathma neighborhood before they bombed the city center’s Yemeni army headquarters.

Since Wednesday morning, Wadi Hadramout has been the site of significant military operations, which have included intense artillery fire, according to local media.

The STC has previously requested that Yemen’s southern region be separated. Its southern province, including Aden, is under its control.

A “Promising Future” operation, according to the group on Wednesday, “follows the exhaustion of all options proposed in recent years to restore stability to the valley, end the state of security breakdown, and stop the region’s exploitation by forces alien to the valley]of Hadramout] and the governorate.”

A Saudi delegation has reportedly reached a settlement with the opposing parties while negotiating a resolution to the conflict in Hadramout.

For decades, Yemen has experienced internal conflict and external interference.

The Houthis, an Iran-aligned group, own the majority of Yemen’s largely populated northwest and Sanaa, its capital. Since Israel started its genocidal war against Gaza in October 2023 in support of Palestinians who were being shot down by Israeli forces, Yemen’s government and other groups have largely frozen war. However, it has gained international notoriety for its attacks on Israel and shipping in the Red Sea.

In Sanaa, dozens of civilians and political figures have been killed in deadly attacks by the US and Israel.
