BBC star Greg James calls out A list Hollywood celebrity for awkward encounter

After Sandra Bullock refused to shake his hand in an interview, BBC One DJ Greg James has made her one of the most awkward celebrities he has ever met.

As one of BBC Radio One’s most sought after DJs, Greg James has probably met the good and the great of Hollywood in his time. But one interview with a Hollywood celebrity left him feeling rather uneasy, which unfortunately has been etched in his memory, as one of the most awkward interviews to date.

While on JaackMaate’s Happy Hour podcast, the radio presenter, 39, revealed that during an interview with Hollywood actress Sandra Bullock, he was left feeling a little weird after she refused to shake his hand during their initial introduction.

And she stated that her child had a medical condition. On the podcast, he stated, “I remember Sandra Bullock refusing to shake my hand.”

He continued, “She said it was a junket interview, and they’re really stressful, aren’t they? ” They are terrible. Yes, it was four minutes. Talk to Meryl Streep, please.

Sandra Bullock was the subject of his comments, adding that “I went to shake her hand, and she said, “I’m not shaking hands today, my kid’s not very well. What”?

She continued, “She believed that if she passed her child’s hand, her hand, and I would become ill with Sandra Bullock’s child’s flu,” he continued.

Although the date of the incident is unknown, his attitude on the podcast made him seem like he was surprised by her decision to avoid bodily contact.

And he acheived his handshake after realizing that she had “been honest” with her justification. He continued, “She might be trying to protect you from the child’s illness and, in my opinion, be being really nice.”

He continued, “Or she might be very bitter. Or. And say, “Someone has made my child ill, so I’m not shaking the hands of strangers once more.”

Fans eluded the comment section for a while to express their views. “Totally accurate,” one person said. She isn’t interested in making you sick. Another user continued, “There are some stories you don’t have to share.”

A third person responded, “I think Greg is being weirdly sensitive about it.” That day, she encounters a ton of people. Her children are ill. She’s either worried that every person she shakes hands with will receive it, or worried that the interviewees will give it something. She doesn’t seem to like you like Greg suggests, so it’s hardly a case of that.

A fourth person added, “What’s an issue with him sharing this story?” after the lengthy thread was in progress. Greg has forged relationships with numerous famous people and recently received an invitation to Taylor Swift’s wedding with Travis Kelce.

He had been honored with an invitation, it was revealed last month during a live broadcast of his show. Greg quickly inquired, “Woah, woah,” after a conversation about her fiance. “Am I coming?”

And Taylor responded, “of course,” in the manner that “obviously”. However, she made sure he would learn more about the date more in-depth than she did by not giving more details.

Norris and Verstappen closely matched in practice

The Formula 1 title fight is finely poised after Lando Norris and Max Verstappen appeared closely matched in Friday practice at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Norris’ McLaren headed the Red Bull of Max Verstappen, who is 12 points behind the Briton heading into the final race of the season, by 0.363 seconds at the top of the timesheets at Yas Marina.

That is a larger margin than Verstappen would have liked, but the four-time champion was closer on the race simulation runs later in the session, which are usually a more accurate gauge of form.

The third driver in contention, McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, was 11th fastest, failing to achieve a clean lap on the fastest tyres.

The Australian is 16 points adrift of Norris and faces a stiff task to enter into serious title contention.

The maths are more complicated for Verstappen, but one way he can take a fifth consecutive title is to win the race with Norris lower than third, or be second with him lower than seventh.

Norris looked impressively quick on his single lap on the soft tyres that will be used for qualifying and he and Verstappen were the stand-out drivers on the race-simulation runs.

Norris was 0.209secs ahead on the race-simulation runs overall, but Verstappen ran almost twice as many laps as the McLaren.

Stop the runs at the same point, after eight laps, before tyre degradation kicks in for Verstappen, and the Red Bull was just 0.075secs on average slower.

Norris said: “From the times, things look good at the minute, but still want a bit more from the car. Not completely happy or confident.

“We are a bit in the middle of trying some things and trying to understand some things with the car.

“Hopefully some more stuff we can get out of it, but it’s not been a bad day, for sure.

“It’s been a good positive day. We always know it gets a lot closer going into qualifying so nothing to smile about yet.”

Verstappen, seeking his fifth consecutive drivers’ championship, said: “Pretty OK. I was fairly happy with the car; we just need to be probably a little bit faster. We are still not quick enough but we have been in a decent window.

“It seems like it’s a decent gap we need to close but we will just try to put the best car forwards and let’s see how much we can find overnight. Single lap and long run needs to be better.”

Piastri, who sat out the first session as McLaren IndyCar driver Pato O’Ward fulfilled one of the team’s obligatory young driver test sessions, was not quite in the same ballpark as his rivals.

“I got there pretty well on the medium (tyre) but on the softs didn’t get the most out of the grip on that first timed lap.

“Finding my feet but clearly some things to try and improve for tomorrow. But after just one session, not too bad. The car feels like it’s in a pretty decent place. Some small tweaks of course, didn’t feel perfect out there but nothing major.

“The car’s looked quick. Just need to get some more laps under my belt and find my feet a bit more.”

On headline times, Mercedes’ George Russell was third fastest, from Haas driver Oliver Bearman, who said over the radio that he could not believe just how good the car was feeling.

Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto were fifth and sixth in Sauber’s final race before they morph into Audi for the German manufacturer’s debut season in F1.

Racing Bulls’ Isack Hadjar was seventh in his final race before his promotion to Red Bull in 2026, followed by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and the second Mercedes of Kimi Antonelli.

Lorraine Kelly ‘wasn’t shocked’ by ITV cuts but insists ‘it wasn’t my decision’

When Lorraine Kelly learned that the episodes of her eponymous daytime TV show would be reduced due to ITV cuts, she wasn’t surprised.

Lorraine Kelly has admitted that she wasn’t surprised when she was told that her eponymous daytime show would be reduced from next year. The TV legend, 66, has been a regular face on ITV for several decades now but as of January 2026, her programme will be slashed to just 30 weeks a year, along with Loose Women, and will also be aired for just thirty minutes instead of a whole hour.

The star has now argued that while it “wasn’t her decision,” it’s still “just a sign of the times” and that a number of her team members are still employed by the broadcaster.

Asked if it came as a shock to her, she said: “Not really. I mean, it’s kind of indicative of the whole industry, really. I’m just glad that we’re still there. We’ve still managed to save some jobs. A lot of my team are going to This Morning. And so yeah, it’s not my decision. It wasn’t a decision that I made.”

In the end, the former GMTV presenter is pleased to still be able to host the program, where she frequently interviews her favorite celebrities, and reassured viewers that her regulars will continue to host with her.

“I just feel fortunate that I can continue to do what I love to do. What could possibly not be loved, really? This morning, we are. I’m incredibly proud of Brian Cox. My heroes include both the actor and astrophysicist, both Brian Coxes, the two.

It’s a privilege to talk to people like that, I suppose. It’s amazing to watch Jamie Oliver cook something and then eat it, you know. And you’re aware that all of our regulars, including Dr. Hilary, Dr. Amir, Mark Hayes, and Ross King, will still be present next year, just like we’ve known them.

“So I’m happy that we’re going to stay there.” It will be unique. You don’t know what, though? I’ve gone through a lot of regime change. It’s just another one, then. Another one, just now. It’s fine, really. We’ll still be there, and it’ll still be a lot of fun, and I still really, really, really enjoy it. I therefore consider myself fortunate.

Lorraine still has an awful lot coming up, including a Christmas special of her daytime chat show, and early next year she will be guest hosting on BBC Radio Two and will be seen heading to Norway as part of a new documentary. But above all, Lorraine insisted that life will continue to revolve around her Billie, who was born to her daughter Rosie in August 2024.

She continued, “For my New Year’s Resolution, I always say I’m going to look after myself more and I’m going for facials and and get my feet done and you know and all of that sort of stuff.” And I never choose to do it. You’re all too busy, I promise, and to be honest with you, it’s all very nice to have all these things, but Billie’s the main thing is.”

Lorraine and her daughter, who also host the What If? podcast together, have now teamed up with EE to share a glimpse into their Christmas plans, and they both spoke of how grateful they are to have the technology to communicate, especially around the festive season, especially as new research has found that over three quarters of Brits tend to have more than one Christmas to fit in.

“A lot of our Christmas Day is actually going to be spent calling and making incredible video calls to people who live far away, like Graham, my brother, who lives in Singapore,” said Lorraine. We’re not that concerned about our relationship right now, isn’t she? My mother, Rosie’s grandmother, Billie’s great grandmother.

We have a lower priority order than you. The great granddaughter is the focus! Additionally, she wants to visit her. When do you require internet access? When do you require Wi-Fi? so that you can accomplish everything. You’ve got to talk to and see your relatives, right?

Rosie Smith and Lorraine Kelly have collaborated with EE to reveal their Christmas plans and how they are utilizing the company’s broadband and mobile network. According to new research, Brits are getting ready for up to three Christmas Days this year, with families visiting everyone they love from different homes. Stacey Solomon praises ‘incredible’ under-£90 Shark vac-mop for cleaning up after kids and pets

Stacey Solomon has found her new favourite multi-use cleaning gadget for keeping her home spotless despite a house full of pets and kids – and it’s less than £90 from Shark

No one knows the struggles of keeping a house full of children and animals looking spick and span quite like Stacey Solomon. With five kids, two dogs, plenty of DIY projects and a garden full of animals like chickens and ducks to contend with, she’s all too aware of how hard it can be to keep your home looking clean and tidy.

However the Sort Your Life Out presenter has just found the ultimate cleaning gadget that takes care of multiple chores at once – and you can pick it up for under £90. Stacey spoke about the Shark VacMop 2-in-1 Cordless Hard Floor Vacuum Spray Mop on her Instagram stories, saying how “incredible” it was for using in between big cleans.

In her post, Stacey said the vacuum was: “Lightweight, cordless, good as any flat mops with the added bonus of a light hoover.” She also added that it’s: “Not a deep cleaner but INCREDIBLE for the constant in between especially with kids and pets.”

She did offer shoppers a balanced review though, pointing out some flaws in the Shark VacMop, saying: “ Hate the disposable pads but you can get reusable. It does still smoosh fine dust around like any other flat mops IMO but I’m yet to find anything that doesn’t.”

Although Stacey was lucky enough to snap up the Shark VacMop with a huge 40% discount during the Black Friday sales, it has since gone up in price – although it’s still on sale. It’s now down from £99.99 to £86.06 on Amazon, marking only a 14% saving, but still putting it lower than buying from the Shark website where it’s still £99.99.

This discount only applies to the lime green and grey version, whilst the lilac pick (which Stacey got) is only 6% cheaper at £93.94, and the mint green option is £94. However, the Shark VacMop also comes with a charger, six disposable VacMop pads, and a 350ml bottle of multi-surface cleaning solution.

For a similar price, you can pick up the Steam Mop with 13 Accessories from Torder which is now £94.99, a 47% discount from its usual price of £179.99. This steam mop comes with 13 different accessories and two replaceable washable pads.

Meanwhile at Dyson, you can save a huge £300 on the Dyson WashG1 Wet Cleaner which is now down to £299.99 from £599.99. There are two rollers for smear-free stain removal, removes both wet and dry dirt in one pass, and has a self clean cycle that keeps it ready for your next cleaning spree.

Meanwhile the Shark VacMop is completely cordless and lightweight so you can instantly grab it and clean up any spills or stains. It can be used to tackle anything from wet, stuck on messes, pet hair, debris and dirt, and can be used as both a vacuum and mop on hard flooring surfaces.

South Africa triumphs by 105 runs.

In their first Twenty20 international against Ireland Women in Cape Town, South Africa women won by 105 runs.

After just one run, Jane Maguire removed Faye Tunnicliife from the field after the hosts won the toss and chose to bat first.

Laura Wolvaardt, captain of South Africa, was the hero, recording 115 points and four sixes in the process.

With only 52 deliveries to reach the milestone, Wolvaardt completed the seventh-fastest century in women’s T20 international history.

As Ireland finished second overall in the World Cup, Sune Luus added 81 more runs, which they fared far short of.

Amy Hunter and Orla Prendergast were dismissed in the opening game of Lloyd Tennant’s side, who lost two wickets in the first over.
