Charlotte Dawson responds to split claims with bombshell post about rugby star fiancé

Mum-of-three, Charlotte Dawson, has set the record straight on her relationship with fiancé, Matt Sarsfield, after it was reported that the couple had called it quits

Charlotte Dawson has responded to reports she’s split with the father of her three children, Matt Sarsfield.

The daughter of comedy legend, Les Dawson, 32, reportedly told pals that the rugby star, 34, had left her in Manchester alone following a huge row at the launch party for her tanning brand, Dawsylicious, on Thursday.

It was also claimed that Matt had blocked Charlotte – who revealed the couple’s son, Jude, two was in hospital this week – on WhatsApp following the fracas, with sources suggesting there was no way back for the pair. However, now the mum-of-three has broken her silence over the reports – and insisted they’re not true.

Taking to Instagram, sharing snaps from the party to celebrate the launch of her tanning brand Dawsylicious Tanning this week, in which Matt can be seen embracing the entrepreneur, Charlotte, who looked stunning, sporting a black velvet mini dress with diamanté detail, wrote: “Don’t believe everything you read my darlings… it’s not true. We are still together. We even got matching tattoos of Noah, Jude and Gigi.”

It comes after the pair were said to have called it quits following a ‘blazing row’ at the launch party of the tanning brand, with a source telling The Sun: “Charlotte and Matt have split – and this time she is saying it’s for good.

“They had a massive row at her tanning brand party in Manchester and he walked out.” The source added that Charlotte was ‘so upset’ at the time of the fallout.

They continued: “She’s not managed to speak with him either because he’s blocked her on WhatsApp.” However, now Charlotte is said to be putting a “brave face on” and “says she wants to move on” as it is claimed Charlotte has “had enough of Matt”.

However, a representative for Charlotte denied the reports as they said: “Charlotte and Matt are definitely still together and any suggestions otherwise are completely untrue.” It’s not the first time the couple’s relationship has hit the headlines. Last year, it was reported Charlotte had kicked Matt out of their family home after she discovered he had been sexting another woman.

At the time, The Mirror revealed that the former Celebs Go Dating star had been left “hurt and humiliated” after learning that Matt had sent x-rated messages to someone else. But it was later reported she took him back after Matt was left ‘broken’.

Charlotte told Closer magazine after taking him back: “Of course I was fuming when I found out what Matthew had done.

“The trust has gone massively, so it’s been very difficult, but there is still love there and that’s what’s important,” she said. “We share two boys, a house, businesses and we’re engaged – it’s not as easy as cutting everything off, so we are giving it one last go.

“At the moment everything is going in the right direction.”

“Hopefully clear skies and happiness ahead. Love, kindness and healing to all. Dr S and Mango.”

Scott, who is married to Zo Christien, with whom he shares four children – Summer, Quinn, Jackson, and Riley, then added a number of tags to his post, including ‘rescue’, ‘dogs’ and ‘divorce’.

His fans were quick to comment on the post, with a number of Scott’s followers wishing him the best.

One wrote: “I am so sorry you have been through a difficult time. I am so glad that Mango has been such a support. Sending you a big hug, and wishing you happiness.”

Meanwhile, another replied: “Are you telling me Dr Scott is single? Join the queue ladies!”

Minister Denies Diverting ₦16.5bn For Taraba Bridge Construction

The Minister of State for regional development, Uba Maigari, has refuted allegations that he diverted the sum of ₦16.5 billion meant for the reconstruction of the collapsed Namnai bridge in Gassol local government area of Taraba State.

Addressing journalists in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, the minister, who spoke through his lead counsel, Ibrahim Effiong, described the claims as baseless, deliberately crafted to mislead the public.

According to him, the minister has already instituted a legal action against the individual behind the accusations, a social media activist identified as Abdulmumuni Imam.

He insisted that, despite making weighty allegations, Imam had failed to provide any evidence and had instead gone into hiding.

The counsel revealed that making accusations without proof constitutes a serious offence under the Nigerian constitution and against cyber Cybercrime Act, and the decision to pursue legal action was necessary to provide a deterrent against the rising trend of unverified and malicious claims on social media.

Abdulmumuni Imam had raised a distress alarm via his social media handle, alleging that the minister secretly procured a security order directing the police, DSS, and civil defence to arrest him over his criticism of government inaction on the collapsed Namnai bridge.

Australia captain Pat Cummins says he will be “good to go” for the third Ashes Test against England after missing the first two with injury.

Fast bowler Cummins missed his side’s victory in Perth and the ongoing day-night match in Brisbane as he recovered from a back injury.

The 32-year-old had an outside chance of playing in the second Test but is confident of a return in Adelaide on 16 December.

“I’ll have one more bowl tomorrow in the nets and then we’ll go to Adelaide and have a bowl there,” Cummins told host broadcaster Fox Sports.

Cummins has taken 309 wickets in 71 Tests and has a career average of 21.19 with the ball at the Adelaide Oval.

Australia are also without fast bowler Josh Hazlewood, while Steve Smith has captained the side in Cummins’ absence.

Cummins said the selectors considered bringing him in for Brisbane but decided it was too risky.

“It felt a bit too acute and didn’t really feel fair on the other bowlers,” he added.

President Has Absolute Prerogative To Choose Ambassadors — Ex-Envoy

Former Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Eniola Ajayi, says President Bola Tinubu has the unquestionable constitutional authority to appoint whoever he deems fit as ambassador, noting that envoys first represent the president before representing the nation abroad.

Ajayi, who served as Nigeria’s envoy to The Hague between 2021 and 2023, stated this on Saturday while appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise programme.

“The first thing that everybody has to understand is that the president has the right to choose the people that will represent him abroad. They first of all represent the president before they now represent the larger community called the nation, Nigeria. So the president has the prerogative to select whoever he deems appropriate to represent him.

“And the thing is for them to understand what the president requires of them and to do it. That’s the truth about representation. Anybody can be picked by the president of any country to be an ambassador,” she said.

Asked whether the personal history or controversies surrounding some nominees should matter in the selection process, Ajayi said such considerations are important, though she was not implying wrongdoing on the part of any specific nominee.

“Of course it matters. One of the things written on our letter of credence that you present to other countries is that this person has been found worthy in character and in everything to represent the president of the country and has the full authority of the president to execute orders on behalf of the country.

“That’s why an ambassador is called extraordinary and plenipotentiary, because you have the full backing. Apart from the president of countries, the only other group of people that they don’t take their biometrics at embassies when using diplomatic passports are ambassadors. They are recognised almost as if they are the president, because they represent the country in another country,” she said.

Ajayi added that Nigeria’s diplomatic gaps, including the long delay in filling ambassadorial postings, may have worsened recent tensions with the United States, especially following Nigeria’s designation under the CPC list.

“A lot of problems could have been averted, especially because there would have been somebody speaking on our behalf,” she said.

Her remarks come amid heated public debate over President Tinubu’s fresh ambassadorial list, submitted shortly after Nigeria was placed on the U.S. Countries of Particular Concern (CPC) list for alleged religious freedom violations, a move that attracted criticism of the government’s diplomatic posture.

Last week, President Tinubu transmitted 68 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

The nominations came in two batches.

The first batch, sent in November, comprised three non-career nominees,  Ayodele Oke (Oyo), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa) and retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are (Ogun), all of whom have already been screened.

The second batch, submitted on 4 December 2025, contains 65 names: 34 career diplomats and 31 non-career political appointees.

Prominent among the non-career nominees are former INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu; former ministers Reno Omokri and Femi Fani-Kayode; and former governors Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Okezie Ikpeazu.

The Senate has referred the list to the Committee on Foreign Affairs, which is expected to submit its report within a week.

Last week, Aston revealed he required surgery on his injured ankle. “So, I had a bit of an accident on an injury and basically it requires surgery. So they’ve given me these really cool crutches,” he said on TikTok.

Despite the painful injury, which he also showed off on a post on his TikTok showing his swollen ankle, Aston continued to perform with his band while on crutches. He joked, however, that backflips were “on hold” for the meantime as he sported a black denim jacket with the words ‘Backflips on hold’ bedazzled on the back.

Aston has been touring with his band, which kicked off in Glasgow at the Hydro Arena. He revealed at the first gig of the group’s comeback tour that he had been advised by his team to postpone, the Daily Mail reports, but said there was ‘no way’ he could let his fans down. Aston also reportedly praised his bandmates for their support as he battles with the injury.

The group, which is comprised of Oritsé Williams, 38, JB Gill, 38, Aston and Marvin Humes, 40, first formed in 2007 before they auditioned for The X Factor in 2008 and gained huge popularity. They were the show’s runners-up of that year, missing out on the top spot to Alexandra Burke, but still landed a record deal in 2009.

The continued to perform before announcing their decision to split in 2013. However, they reunited this year to perform a limited amount of shows across the UK.
