Security Operatives Rescue Seven Kidnap Victims In Kaduna Forest

Security operatives drawn from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Military have rescued seven abducted persons in Kaduna State.

Disclosing this in a statement on Sunday, the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, Josephine Adeh, said operatives dislodged a criminal camp in a high-risk, cross-border security raid in the Ushafa area, Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

She said the Command received a distress report on December 5, indicating that armed men had invaded a community in Ushafa and abducted several residents. In a swift reaction, a combined team comprising operatives of the FCT Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Nigerian Army, and the Department of State Services (DSS) mobilised to the area on 6th December 2025 to begin a coordinated search operation.

“Following a distress call received by the Police on December 5, 2025, reporting that heavily armed kidnappers had invaded a community in Ushafa, Abuja, and whisked away several residents under the cover of darkness, a joint security task force made up of operatives from the FCT Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS) swung into action on December 6, launching a coordinated manhunt for the abductors,” the statement read.

“Guided by credible intelligence, the security team traced the suspects’ movements through the outskirts of the Mpape community and onward into settlements linking the Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“On sighting the advancing operatives, the kidnappers opened fire in a desperate attempt to escape, leading to a fierce gun battle. The security forces responded with overwhelming firepower, forcing the criminals to abandon one of the kidnapped victims during their retreat.”

Adeh, a Superintendent of Police, said, “displaying uncommon courage and endurance, the joint security team continued the chase for more than seven gruelling hours across treacherous mountains and dense forest paths, determined to dismantle the criminal network completely.

“The pursuit eventually led the operatives to the kidnappers’ main hideout deep inside Kweri Forest in Kaduna State, where another heavy exchange of gunfire took place, breaking the gang’s resistance and forcing them to flee in disarray.

“A thorough sweep of the forest camp resulted in the rescue of six additional victims, bringing the total number of freed captives to seven.

“The victims were immediately evacuated to a hospital, where they are presently receiving medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition.”

I’m A Celeb’s Lisa Riley hints she secretly married Al after leaving the jungle

Lisa Riley’s comments left people wondering if she has secretly married her partner of 10 years, Al, after the Emmerdale icon left the I’m A Celebrity camp

Lisa Riley has hinted she is now a married woman after leaving the I’m A Celebrity camp. The Emmerdale icon entertained the ITV viewers with a fun stint Down Under before fiance Al met her on the rope bridge. And now, it’s thought the loved-up duo might have tied the knot.

Lisa, who is best known for playing Mandy Dingle, was part of a shock double elimination, leaving with Jack Osbourne on Friday evening. Following her exit speech, Lisa joined Unpacked host Joel Dommett for a chat on all things jungle. She admitted she is thrilled she no longer has to wear the camp boots that “smell like a skip”.

Joel then asked about her revelation about her lusting over Ant McPartlin. The presenter said:”Obviously you had a lovely moment with Al on the bridge but how was your hug with Ant [McPartlin, show host]?” Lisa joked things got “juicy” between her and the Geordie presenter. And she went on: “And it’s caused a bit of fury with my husband, he’s fine.”

Despite clearly saying husband, Lisa continued: “As I said you can go to a shop and have a look, you don’t have to buy anything.”

And she later tried to brush over the term once again as she said: “When we go to the bank, he will say ‘that’s my wife’ and I will call him ‘my husband’.” She added: “We use that terminology and there is nothing different other than I am wearing an engagement ring rather than a wedding band.

“We are happy as we are — I don’t see what that day would do. I dress up every day as Mandy Dingle, I don’t want to dress up as me.”

Following her exit, Lisa admitted she lost weight in camp. She disclosed she shed nearly a stone and a half in the weeks in the jungle. She revealed it wasn’t solely the rice and beans diet responsible for dropping the pounds, but rather the controlled portions and demanding daily routine.

Lisa said: “Do you know what it is? It’s portion control. Everyone says, ‘Oh, it’s beans and rice.’ Yes, it is beans and rice, but it’s actually what you consume. When you’re in there, people don’t have an idea of the lifestyle, the geography of the camp. It’s the do-ability, the activeness.”

“Like, when you go up to the [Bush] Telegraph to talk, it’s step after step. When you go to a challenge, you never stop moving,” she told the Mail. “It’s endless. It’s not just sat around a campfire having loads of giggles. The activeness… by the time you’ve consumed the beans at night, you’ve probably burned it off.”

Rutter Rescues Brighton In West Ham Draw

Brighton forward Georginio Rutter stopped West Ham from climbing out of the Premier League relegation zone with a last-gasp equaliser in a dramatic 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were moments away from escaping the bottom three thanks to Jarrod Bowen’s second-half strike at the Amex Stadium.

But Rutter grabbed Brighton’s leveller in stoppage time to leave West Ham stuck in 18th place.

The third-bottom Hammers are two points behind fourth-bottom Nottingham Forest in the fight for survival.

Conceding so late was a painful blow for West Ham. Still, after holding Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Thursday, West Ham’s battling display was further evidence of their improvement since Nuno replaced the sacked Graham Potter in September.

West Ham have lost just one of their last six league matches to revive their survival hopes.

Brighton blew a two-goal lead in a 4-3 defeat against Aston Villa in midweek, surrendering their 10-match unbeaten run at home in the process.

Avoiding another loss in front of their own fans kept seventh-placed Brighton in the hunt for European qualification.

On the rain-lashed south coast, both teams struggled to cope with the treacherous conditions.

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo brought Lucas Paqueta back into the team after his suspension for a needless dismissal provoked by two incidents of dissent in quick succession against Liverpool.

The 28-year-old claimed his behaviour was the result of frustration at a spot-fixing investigation launched against him by the Football Association in 2024 that ended this summer with Paqueta being cleared of all charges.

Nuno said Paqueta was still affected by the investigation, but the Brazilian went close to putting West Ham ahead with a stinging strike that Bart Verbruggen pushed away.

Verbruggen kept Brighton level with a brilliant double save after half-time, clawing away Bowen’s deflected effort before quickly scrambling to his feet to stop Crysencio Summerville’s volley.

West Ham finally made the breakthrough in the 73rd minute.

Jan Paul van Hecke’s careless back header was intercepted by Callum Wilson and he slipped a pass towards Bowen, who stretched for a low shot that crept past Verbruggen from an acute angle.

However, Brighton laid siege to the West Ham goal in the closing stages and snatched their equaliser in stoppage time.

West Ham keeper Alphonse Areola made two saves in a penalty area scramble, but Rutter pounced on the loose ball and squeezed his low shot into the net from close range.

Spurs investigate Bissouma nitrous oxide claim

Tottenham say they are looking into claims that midfielder Yves Bissouma was filmed inhaling nitrous oxide.

The Sun published footage which it alleged showed the 29-year-old Mali international inhaling the substance, also known as laughing gas or NOS.

“We are looking into the events and it will be dealt with as an internal matter,” a club spokesperson told BBC Sport.

He apologised, saying he displayed a “severe lack of judgement”.

Possession of nitrous oxide for recreational use has been a criminal offence in the UK since 2023 and can result in a two-year prison sentence.

Bissouma, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has not played since Thomas Frank was appointed manager in June.

Heartbreaking way Meghan Markle’s dad Thomas made sure she can always reach him

Meghan Markle’s dad Thomas has revealed that he refused to change his phone number in the desperate hope that she would be able to contact him when she was ready

Thomas Markle has revealed that he has kept the same telephone number in the hope that Meghan would be able to reach out to him when she felt ready to reconnect. The 81 year old father of the Duchess of Sussex was recently hospitalised after having his left leg amputated in the Philippines. Before the surgery, his foot had become discoloured and swollen, restricting his mobility.

According to reports, had Thomas not had the “life or death” surgery, the infection in his foot could have reached his heart. In an interview with The Mail On Sunday, Thomas explained that he has never changed his phone number so Meghan “could always get in touch with me.”

The pair have been estranged since 2018 when it came to light that he had reportedly staged paparazzi photographs ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry. From that moment on, relations between Thomas and his daughter became so tense, he pulled out of the wedding, claiming to have health problems at the time. Instead, King Charles walked her down the aisle.

During the height of their tense relationship, Thomas spoke to the press once again and cast doubt over their decision to step away from the public eye.

In an interview at the time, he reportedly said: “I think they’re both turning into lost souls at this point. I don’t know what they’re looking for. I don’t think they know what they’re looking for.”

One of his wishes before he dies is to reconcile with his daughter, meet his grandchildren and her husband Prince Harry. Meghan and Prince Harry have two children together, Archie and Lilibet.

He told the publication: “I’ve always said I am open to reconciling with my daughter. I have never stopped loving her. I don’t want to die estranged from Meghan. I want to meet my grandkids. It might be nice to meet her husband too.”

According to reports, a source close to Meghan said the Duchess’ team had not been contacted before the publication went to print. But according to the BBC, a spokesman for Meghan said: “I can confirm she has reached out to her father.”

The source went on to say that had Meghan had prior knowledge of the article, where Thomas spoke openly about desperately wanting to reunite with his daughter, they would informed hospital staff, to tell Thomas to read his email, a detail Meghan’s team wanted to remain private.

Meghan’s half sister Samantha has also denied hearing from Meghan. She took to X and described quotes from sources close to Meghan as “PR b********t.”

With the permission of Thomas, his surgeon spoke to the publication and confirmed: “It was life-or-death surgery. Had the infection in the foot moved to his heart, it would most likely have been fatal. He is doing well but he is not out of the woods yet.”
