Okpebholo Vows To Drive Out Criminal Elements, Fix Bad Roads In Edo

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on Sunday said his administration will continue to do its best to tackle insecurity, vowing to rid the state of criminal elements.

The governor, who spoke at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Auchi, during a thanksgiving service to mark his first anniversary in office, also promised to fix bad roads across the state.

“As I came here today, my mind was on how we will fix the bad roads. The second thought on my mind is about a matter that concerns us all — insecurity,” Okpebholo was quoted as saying in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua.

“We will continue to do our best to fight insecurity and ensure that the evil ones are driven out of our midst.”

Governor Okpebholo expressed gratitude to God for His grace and faithfulness, recalling how he made a solemn vow a year ago to return in thanksgiving upon winning both the primaries and the governorship election.

“Sometime last year, I was in this church and I said, by God’s grace, that if I win the primaries and the gubernatorial election, I would return here to give thanks to God. Today, I have come to redeem that vow,” the governor declared.

The governor also appreciated the Catholic Bishop of Auchi Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel G. Dunia, and the Catholic faithful for their prayers and moral support, describing them as partners in faith and governance.

“I want to thank the Bishop for his prayers and support. When he was speaking today, he was speaking my mind,” Okpebholo noted.

He further sympathized with the Church and families affected by recent kidnappings of priests within the diocese, assuring them of the government’s commitment to restoring peace and security across the state.

“While I sympathize with the Church over the kidnapped priests in recent times, I want to say that there is never a day we are not concerned about the insecurity in our land. We are doing everything possible to bring it to an end. I assure you that very soon, with your prayers and our efforts, we will overcome,” he said.

Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s determination to rebuild Edo State on the foundation of peace, faith, and purposeful leadership. He emphasized that governance must always reflect compassion, service, and accountability, assuring the people that his administration remains committed to driving sustainable development across all sectors.

The thanksgiving service was officiated by Bishop Dunia, who delivered a sermon centered on cleanliness, holiness, and gratitude in leadership.

The bishop commended Governor Okpebholo for reintroducing the state’s monthly environmental sanitation exercise, describing it as a necessary step toward improving public health and moral discipline.

Bishop Dunia also praised the governor for keeping his vow of thanksgiving, describing him as a man of integrity and faith.

“You made a promise before God and His people that you would return to this altar to give thanks if you emerged victorious. Today, you have kept that promise. This is the mark of a man of faith and truth,” the bishop said.

Countryfile’s Adam Henson shares emotional ordeal before welcoming new addition to family

Countryfile star Adam Henson has opened up about his family life at home with wife Charlie, who he shares two grown-up children with

Adam Henson has opened up about an emotional ordeal that saw him welcoming a new edition to his family. The Countryfile star tied the knot with his wife Charlie in 2021 after she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Charlie underwent a life-saving operation shortly after the intimate ceremony. She has previously explained that the diagnosis led her to realise a wedding was “the most important thing in the world”.

Adam and Charlie had however been together for over 30 years before tying the knot, sharing two children – Alfie and Ella – together. The couple also have four dogs, including one who was welcomed into the home after an emotional moment.

Speaking to K9 Magazine, Adam said: “Boo is a six-year-old Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla and was bought as a puppy as a present for my son, Alfie, so she is very much his dog. Olive is a one-year-old Hungarian Wirehaired Vizsla who we had not really planned to get!”

Adam says the family had a companion for Boo, but they were diagnosed with cancer and died, leaving the pooch feeling lonely. He continued: “Boo found herself on her own and really missed a doggy companion, so we bought Olive as a puppy and as a Christmas present for my partner, Charlie.”

TV presenter Adam juggles his work on Countryfile as well as running his Bemborough Farm, which doubles-up as the Cotswold Farm Park. The tourist attraction welcomes around 70,000 visitors each year.

Adam has previously admitted that he plans to swap the farm for a rural cottage once his tenancy has run its course. That is because neither of his children fancy following in his footsteps and taking on the 650-hectare estate.

Adam himself took over the farm from own father Joe. He said: “My dad was ahead of his time by opening a farm for people to come and visit, bottle-feed a lamb or hold a chick.

“While I was pulling on my wellies and chasing my dad out of the door to join him on the farm, my own children aren’t interested in a career in farming.

“Sure, they can lamb a sheep and drive a tractor, but my daughter lives in Perth as an events organiser and my son is a financial advisor in Leeds.

“So when the tenancy runs out in 12 years’ time, Charlie and I are moving to a bungalow close by in Winchcombe, where we have a few acres and will keep a few sheep and the dogs. It will be the end of an era, but I will still be able to enjoy the lovely countryside.”

Adam will return to screens with Countryfile on BBC One from 5.20pm this evening (November 9). He will be meeting the three finalists competing for the title of Young Countryside Champion at this year’s BBC Food & Farming Awards.

‘Nostalgia is the kiss of death,’ says Gary Numan before Telekon 45th Anniversary Tour

The eighties phenomenon is back with his Telekon 45th Anniversary Tour reveals why his fans’ fondness of nostalgia drives him mad and how he’s looking forward to performing with his daughter Raven

Robotic tones and eerie electronic music were only matched in their weirdness by Gary Numan’s heavily kohl-lined stare and stage outfits straight from the world of sc-fi.

Now the eighties phenomenon is back with his Telekon 45th Anniversary Tour – celebrating the birthday of his third UK number 1 album – supported by his daughter Raven, who will be performing alongside him.

While he professes to hate anniversary tours, he says: “It is such a big milestone it would be arrogant to not do something about it. I will have my little moment of reminiscing with people. ”

Ever since he really caught the public imagination with his 1979 hit Are Friends Electric? when he was performing as Tubeway Army, Gary Numan has been something of an enigma.

Now 67, he changed his name from Gary Webb to Numan after finding a plumber in the Yellow Pages called Arthur Neumann and then abandoning the German spelling. Born in Hammersmith, west London, but now living in Los Angeles, he is more concerned about what’s happening in the future than in taking a trip down memory lane.

Particularly worried about climate change and the future of the planet, he says: “It bothers me that we have got Trump and how the warnings about it [the planet] are getting more dire. The tipping point is coming ever closer and things are moving faster than they thought they were going to with the sea rising.

“We all know that and we have got Trump, who is systematically undoing all the things that have been put in place to try to help. None of it was enough, but instead of building on it he is getting rid of it. It is properly frightening and nerve wracking. I have got three little ones. As a dad it definitely bothers me.”

But Numan is not all doom and gloom, he does celebrate creativity. “I got into music because I was interested in creating something,” he says. “Electric music was important to me. It not only gave me the opportunity to write songs, but the very sounds themselves were the sounds you had never heard before. I was obsessed by that. I have never lost that. I still wake up in the morning and my desire is to go to the studio and come up with the noises and the sounds that you have not heard before.”

Frustrated by his fans’ desire for nostalgia, the creative genius continues: ”Fans just want me to keep doing my hits Cars and Are Friends Electric? It has been a massive hassle to get my own following to accept the fact that we are just going to keep moving forward and we are not going to do many of these nostalgia things. If people want to work with me to do an 80s thing, I am not the one for it. I don’t think about it at all. I don’t actively think about it and I don’t want to work with anyone. I do my own thing. I want to be in the here and now.”

Numan’s dislike of nostalgia is mainly fuelled by his desire for life to remain a voyage of discovery. “For me it is the kiss of death,” he continues, on his anti-nostalgia theme. “It does feel like as though you are raising a little white flag and saying ‘I have nothing new to offer. All of my ideas are gone. I am just going to live off past glories.’ That is why I have such a problem with it.”

For Gary, neither looking back, nor sitting still are acceptable options. He says: “I am as prolific now as the day I started. I am as passionate about things now as I was the day I started. I am not interested in the 1980s.” Known for his space age style clothing at the time of Telekon, Numan says most of his famous costumes have now gone. He says :”My mum kept a few up in the loft and then when my mum died we cleared everything out and half of them had rotted away. They were covered in mould. I do have the famous black leather jacket with the red stripe. I do have that one. “

Even his overly made-up face is no more. He says: “I have toned it right down now. I am getting too old for too much make up. I don’t think glam is essential. It is not a requirement now.” Gary, who has been open about his Asperger’s diagnosis, has three daughters – Raven, 22, Persia, 20, and Echo Moon, 18, with his wife Gemma, who he met at a signing and married in 1997.

He is clearly very proud that his children are all musical. He says: “They write their own music. My daughter Echo has a garage band. She is amazing at structuring four or five minutes of music. My daughter Persia has sung with me many times on stage. She has been on an album and has started to record her own stuff. And Raven did music and she went off it and now she is back into it again. She is really clever. She has an amazing ear for melody, I am all for it.

“Would I like them to date rock stars? What a terrible way to progress that would be! I am so massively family-orientated. If I am not working I am with my family.” And he loves nothing more than throwing everything in a big van and driving off together. I am slightly disconnected with the world, to be honest,” he says. “I have got my own little bubble and I love it. My family makes me really happy and my kids. They have not turned into those horrible zombie kids which some teenagers can. They are lovely and lovely to be around. I just try to keep the world at arms length from all of us.

Michelle Keegan’s sad regret over £3.5million Essex mansion

Actress Michella Keegan and husband Mark Wright have been renovating their £3.5million mansion in Essex but it seems it’s not all smooth sailing at the property

Michelle Keegan is reportedly struggling to live in her £3.5million mansion after a masked robbery took place earlier this year. The actress lives in the impressive Essex pad along with husband Mark Wright and their daughter Paloma.

Despite the house being stunning, it seems that the past trauma of the break in is now impacting Michelle. The mum-of-one was heavily pregnant with her daughter Palma at the time of the crime.

Mark and Michelle had to lock themselves in one of the bedrooms back in February when the masked criminals broke in. Due to what happened, it has now been said that Michelle prefers to be elsewhere now.

The Sun reported that a source said that the house was her “dream home” and that she is “trying really hard to fall in love with being there again”.

Since February, it is reported that Michelle has been making an effort to keep her life more private now and keep off of Instagram. They said: “It’s the only way she can feel safe again, she knows they took things too far, they’ve flaunted too much.”

Mark and Michelle are no strangers to being in the public eye and the couple’s wealth apparently “sparked jealousy with the wrong people”.

The couple found that they were being “laughed at” by mums who lived nearby them in Essex. The source said: “It’s really cruel, but in their eyes they were quick to flaunt their wealth, so of course they were going to become a target.”

Mark and Michelle are making a move to be more private since the raid. The pair have found that this is more of a priority for them since the birth of her daughter, Palma, in March of this year.

Michelle has been keeping her daughter’s face off of social media as much as she can and Mark is on board with that agreement. They are also keen to keep photos of their home offline now as well.

Michella has been taking inspiration from other celebs such as Jennifer Aniston and Adele who are on social media but on their own terms.

“Michelle likes that – these days she doesn’t post much, it’s never in real time, and she certainly isn’t showing off what she’s got or boasting about what she’s up to,” the source said.

They added: “She sees how they are hugely successful and respected in their careers and life without ever showing fans their private lives, and she wants that.”

This isn’t the only crime that Michelle has been affected by this year as just last month her Range Rover was targetted. In the short clip uploaded to her stories she pointed at the long scratch on her car door and wrote: “Hope the person who did this felt better bout themselves afterwards [thumb up emoji] scruffs.”

She then filmed herself sat in the car and wrote: “Smiling on the outside, screaming on the inside, working out how not to let it ruin my day. Why though??”

The Mirror have contacted Michelle’s reps for comment.

Italian rider Marco Bezzecchi led from start to finish to claim his second victory of the season at the Portuguese Grand Prix.

The 26-year-old Aprilia rider won at Silverstone in May and was victorious again to boost his chances of sealing third place in the championship with one round left.

Polesitter Bezzecchi did not have the pace in Saturday’s sprint, when he came third, but this time he held his own to finish ahead of Gresini Racing’s Alex Marquez and KTM’s Pedro Acosta.

Such was Bezzecchi’s dominance that he finished more than 2.5 seconds clear of Marquez as he became the sixth different winner in the past six MotoGP races.

Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia, who is battling with Bezzecchi for third in the championship behind holder Marc Marquez and his brother and runner-up Alex, crashed out of fourth place leaving him 35 points behind before the final round in Valencia.

In MotoGP a rider can earn a maximum of 37 points from each Grand Prix, with the winner of Saturday afternoon’s sprint taking 12 points and victory in Sunday’s race earning 25 points.

Guehi set to miss England games with foot injury

Defender Marc Guehi is expected to miss England’s final two World Cup qualifying games after suffering a foot injury in Crystal Palace’s midweek Conference League win that left him unable to walk.

Palace boss Oliver Glasner confirmed the extent of the injury on Sunday before their Premier League match at home to Brighton, saying Guehi would miss the game with “a heavy bone bruise”.

The incident happened at the end of the 3-1 win over AZ Alkmaar on Thursday as the Palace captain conceded a yellow card for a foul.

“Overnight he couldn’t sleep, it was so painful and the next day we assessed him and it was a heavy bone bruise,” Glasner told Sky Sports.

“He was walking on crutches the last two days and couldn’t even step on his foot.

“Fortunately nothing is broken, but at the moment he can’t even walk. It looks like he will miss England’s games, but after, maybe in 10-14 days hopefully he can return to training and be available again.”

England, who have already qualified for next year’s World Cup, will face Serbia at Wembley on Thursday before playing Albania in Tirana next Sunday.
