New Wales head coach Steve Tandy says the 52-28 record defeat by Argentina in Cardiff has demonstrated the magnitude of the job he has taken on.
Tandy watched his side concede seven tries at Principality Stadium against the Pumas.
Wales are ranked 12th in the world and face Japan next Saturday before further tests against New Zealand and South Africa, who are the best two teams in the world.
“I always knew it was going to be a challenge,” said Tandy.
“We’re 12th in the world for a reason. We want to build something people can identify with and are excited about going forward.

Argentina celebrated a record margin of victory and scored the most number of points in a game against Wales, but Tandy saw some shoots of positivity.
“The day ended in disappointment, but there’s a lot to like around the group,” he said.
“You could see what we’ve done over the last two weeks coming out, to score four tries was a real positive and we left a few out there.”
The Pumas boasted 400 more caps than Tandy’s side and their experience and class shone through.
“We’ve got boys with low cap numbers, that’s the opportunity for us,” said Tandy.
“I know the journey we’re going to go on, I’m excited and energised by it.
“I know today is the marker of how far we need to go. It’s the line in the sand to probably give us something to work on.
“We’ve been together as new coaches for two weeks. We’ve seen a lot of things we’ve worked on come out, but Test match rugby is unforgiving.
Wales hooker Dewi Lake, who is set to take over the captaincy for the remaining three autumn games after captain and open-side Jac Morgan suffered a dislocated shoulder, was frustrated with the outcome.
“To concede 50 points in a game where we had some good defensive sets was disappointing,” said Lake.
“You could see the attacking game we want to play, the way this group wants to get the crowd into the game.
“Lapses of concentration or bounces of the ball can hurt you when you’re playing a team that’s sixth in the world and are as good as Argentina.
“It’s always disappointing to lose the match but there were strides forward.
The White House says nearly 15,000 trucks carrying commercial goods and humanitarian aid have entered Gaza since October 10, but Palestinians and aid groups have sharply disputed the figures.
White House spokesperson Dylan Johnson told Al Jazeera on Sunday an average of 674 trucks have entered Gaza daily since the Israel-Hamas ceasefire took effect.

Humanitarian workers “have reached more than one million people with household food parcels since October 10”, while meal production in Gaza has increased 82 percent since late September, he said.
“Eggs appeared on shelves in Gaza for the first time since February” when Israel began a total blockade of all humanitarian aid into the besieged Strip, Johnson said.
The US figures could not be independently verified.
According to the World Food Programme (WFP), only half the required food aid is currently reaching Gaza, while a coalition of Palestinian relief agencies said total aid deliveries amounted to just one-quarter of what was agreed under the ceasefire deal.
“The United States is leading a historic effort to address the critical needs of Gazans right now,” Johnson said, insisting the administration of US President Donald Trump is committed to treating Palestinians “with dignity and respect”.
‘Engineered starvation’
Despite US claims, conditions on the ground remain dire. Gaza’s Government Media Office said on Thursday since the start of the ceasefire only 28 percent of the agreed-upon number of aid trucks have been allowed to enter – totalling 4,453 vehicles, far below the promised 15,600 – amounting to 171 trucks per day.
“These limited quantities fall far below the minimum humanitarian threshold,” the office said, calling for the immediate entry of at least 600 trucks daily to provide essential supplies such as food, medicine, fuel, and cooking gas.
The media office also accused Israel of “engineered starvation” saying Israeli authorities have banned more than 350 basic food items – including eggs, meat, cheese, vegetables, and nutritional supplements – while permitting low-value products such as soft drinks, chocolate, and crisps sold at inflated prices.
“This proves that the occupation is deliberately implementing a policy of food manipulation as a weapon against civilians,” a press office statement said.
‘Only the beginning’
Johnson, however, promoted US-led aid efforts saying “17,000 cubic metres [4.5 million gallons] of drinking water has been delivered daily, increasing drinking water in northern Gaza by 130 percent in October alone”.
“There has been great progress, but there is still much to do. This is only the beginning,” he said.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs noted improvements in southern Gaza since the truce, with families eating two meals a day compared to one in July. However, it said food security in northern Gaza has remained in catastrophic condition.
UN spokesperson Farhan Haq said on Friday while humanitarian access has improved, “people’s urgent needs are still immense” with aid convoys restricted to just two Israeli crossings.
Manchester City celebrated Pep Guardiola’s 1000th game in management with a statement 3-0 win over Liverpool to close to within four points of Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Erling Haaland shrugged off missing an early penalty to head in his 99th Premier League goal before Nico Gonzalez’s deflected effort and a wonder strike from Jeremy Doku confirmed City’s status as Arsenal’s major title rivals.
Liverpool have now lost four of their last five league games to leave the defending champions down in eighth, eight points off the top.

Arsenal’s 10-game winning run came to an end in a 2-2 draw at Sunderland on Saturday and Guardiola’s men took full advantage in the battle of the two sides that have dominated the Premier League over the past decade.

Even if decisions went against Arne Slot’s men, this was another show of how far they have fallen since cruising to a 2-0 win at the Etihad in February.
The Reds showed signs of a revival in beating Aston Villa and Real Madrid in the past eight days, but had no answer to the slickness of a rejuvenated City, who have won 11 of their last 14 games in all competitions.
Conor Bradley shut down the threat of Madrid’s Vinicius Junior on Tuesday but was given a torrid time by the pace and trickery of Doku down City’s left.

Doku made the most of Ibrahima Konate’s clearance off Bradley to round Giorgi Mamardashvili before his trailing leg was clipped by the Georgian.
Referee Chris Kavanagh was initially unmoved but pointed to the spot after a VAR review.
Haaland has struck 28 times already this season for club and country, but is yet to score for City from the spot.
Mamardashvili redeemed himself by getting down low to his left to turn the Norwegian’s penalty to safety to briefly lift the mood among the Liverpool players and travelling support.
City remained in control of the game, though, as Rayan Cherki’s effort was deflected wide before Mamardashvili turned Doku’s strike after another mazy run into the side-netting.

Haaland has only failed to score in two of his 18 appearances this season and duly delivered with a looping header to meet Matheus Nunes’ wicked delivery on 29 minutes.
Liverpool thought they were level nine minutes later when Van Dijk’s header from a corner arrowed into the far corner.
However, Andy Robertson ducked out the way of his captain’s effort and was deemed to have interfered with Gianluigi Donnarumma from an offside position.
Instead of going in all square, City rubbed salt in the wounds of Liverpool’s perceived injustice.
The visitors were slow to get out from a corner and Gonzalez had time to take aim before his shot deflected off Van Dijk to wrong-foot Mamardashvili.

Liverpool only had themselves to blame for not getting back in the game early in the second period as Cody Gakpo blazed over with the goal gaping at the end of a fine move involving Mohamed Salah and Bradley.
But Doku fittingly rounded off arguably his best performance in three seasons at City in style to seal a statement victory.
The Belgian jinked inside the leaden-footed Konate before curling into the top corner from outside the box.
Salah summed up Liverpool’s day and season so far when he dinked wide a glorious chance 10 minutes from time.
Despite the visitors need for goals, Slot left £125 million ($165 million) striker Alexander Isak on the bench for the entire match due to his lack of match fitness.
The decision to tear up the squad that coasted to the title with a near £450 million spend in the transfer window looks more misguided by the game as Liverpool find themselves in a battle just to make the top four rather than the title race.
Seven wins on the spin and top of the table once again – Manchester City are back in business in the Women’s Super League.
Khadija Shaw’s winner against Everton on Sunday meant City moved above Chelsea at the summit after the six-time defending champions dropped points in a 1-1 draw with Arsenal on Saturday.
And the Jamaica striker says there has been a “mentality shift” under new head coach Andree Jeglertz after a disappointing 2024-25 campaign, which City ended fourth in the table to miss out on a place in the Champions League.
“We had a setback last year, no Champions League, and we sat down as a group at the end of last season and had an honest conversation between ourselves,” said Shaw, who is the league’s joint-top scorer with five goals.
“There’s a mentality shift compared to last season. This season we just need the three points.
“Last season we fell short in a couple of the games but this season the mentality is the biggest thing.”
City dropped points in nine games last season, and finished the campaign 17 points behind Sonia Bompastor’s Chelsea, also failing to win any silverware.
Jeglertz appears to have reignited City’s title ambitions.
They have not lost since their opening-day defeat by Chelsea, and have scored more goals (20) than any other team in the WSL this season.
“They’ve already taken advantage of Chelsea dropping points and now they’re top of the table,” former City striker Ellen White told BBC Two.
‘We are trying to build something’
Since arriving in July, Jeglertz has done more than introduce an energetic, high-pressing brand of football – he has reshaped the team’s mindset.
“I think it’s very important that we have so many good players,” he told the BBC. “They have been through so many different things in their careers, they have so much knowledge and have won so much with this team.
“To bring everybody together so that everybody feels we are part of it, it’s not just the head coach ideas and role. We are trying to build something so everyone feels ‘this is Man City’ and this is our team. Maybe that is one thing that has caused it.”
City’s free-flowing, attacking football may have faltered in their past two matches, but they have ground out wins over West Ham and Everton.
“Everton made them earn every ounce of that victory,” ex-England goalkeeper Rachel Brown-Finnis said after Sunday’s 2-1 win.
“If you want to go on and win a title you can look back at games like this one that could easily have snuck by you if you’ve not been as disciplined as Manchester City were.
“So albeit maybe not as comprehensive victory as onlookers would have thought, a very valuable one.”
‘We know what Shaw can do’

Shaw’s winner against Everton was her fifth goal of the season and the Jamaica striker – a two-time winner of the Golden Boot – once again leads the league’s goalscoring charts, along with Manchester United’s Melvine Malard.
The 28-year-old finished as the league’s joint-top scorer last season with Alessia Russo on 12 goals, despite missing the end of the season with a foot injury.
Jeglertz will be hoping Shaw can stay injury-free as City mount another push for the title.
“I feel like we know what she can do,” White said. “It’s about being ruthless.
A senior lecturer at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Dr Muhammad Habeebu, has identified alcohol consumption, sedentary lifestyle, and junk food as major lifestyle factors that increase the risk of developing breast cancer, particularly among women.

Habeebu, who is also a consultant radiation and clinical oncologist and the chief clinical coordinator at the NSIA-LUTH Cancer Center, explained that while gender remains the most important risk factor, as about 99 per cent of breast cancer patients are women, certain lifestyle habits further increase susceptibility.
“The older a woman is, the higher the risk,” he said, noting that black women tend to develop breast cancer earlier than their Caucasian counterparts.
He added that hormonal contraceptives, late childbirth, and failure to breastfeed also elevate the risk of the disease.
“Women who have their first child before age 25 are less likely to develop breast cancer, and breastfeeding provides significant protection,” Habeebu stated.
Highlighting the role of genetics, the medical doctor said hereditary factors, including mutations in the BRCA gene, could predispose entire families to breast cancer, with men accounting for about one per cent of total cases due to shared genetic links.
He, however, said that prevention and early detection remain the best defence.
He, therefore, advised women to maintain healthy lifestyles, reduce alcohol intake, avoid fatty and processed foods, and engage in regular exercise.
“Women should perform self-breast examinations, go for clinical check-ups every six months, and undertake mammogram or ultrasound screenings when necessary,” he said.
‘Herbal Remedies Unproven’
He warned that fear and misconceptions about chemotherapy often make patients present late for treatment, reducing their chances of survival.
“Herbal remedies have not been scientifically proven to cure cancer,” he cautioned, urging patients to seek medical attention early.
Habeebu further noted that access to treatment remained a challenge in Ngeria due to high costs, despite efforts like the cancer health fund and the CAP programme.

BBC director general Tim Davie and CEO of News Deborah Turness have resigned from the broadcaster.
The announcement follows accusations that a BBC Panorama documentary misled viewers after editing a speech by US President Donald Trump.
The Telegraph recently published details suggesting the BBC edited two parts of Trump’s speech together so he appeared to encourage the Capitol Hill riots of January 2021, leading to the BBC facing bias allegations.
Davie said his departure will not be immediate and that he is “working through” timings to ensure an “orderly transition” over the coming months, while Turness said in her statement that the controversy around the Panorama edit had “reached a stage where it is causing damage to the BBC – an institution that I love”.
BBC Chairman Samir Shah has shared a statement which read: “This is a sad day for the BBC. Tim has been an outstanding Director-General for the last five years. He has propelled the BBC forward with determination, single-mindedness and foresight.

“He has had the full support of me and the Board throughout. However, I understand the continued pressure on him, personally and professionally, which has led him to take this decision today. The whole Board respects the decision and the reasons for it.”
He went on to say: “Tim has given 20 years of his life to the BBC. He is a devoted and inspirational leader and an absolute believer in the BBC and public service broadcasting. He has achieved a great deal. Foremost, under his tenure, the transformation of the BBC to meet the challenges in a world of unprecedented change and competition is well underway.
“Personally, I will miss his stamina, good humour and resilience and I will miss working with him. I wish him and his family the very best for the future.
“This is an important time for the Corporation and the Board and I will continue to work with Tim in the interim while we conduct the process to appoint his successor.”
Deborah, who has been in the role for three years, said despite the “controversy” around the Panorama edit, the allegations that BBC News “institutionally biased are wrong”.
In a message sent to staff, she said: “I have taken the difficult decision that it will no longer be my role to lead you in the collective vision that we all have: to pursue the truth with no agenda. The ongoing controversy around the Panorama on President Trump has reached a stage where it is causing damage to the BBC – an institution that I love.
“As the CEO of BBC News and Current Affairs, the buck stops with me – and I took the decision to offer my resignation to the director-general last night. In public life leaders need to be fully accountable, and that is why I am stepping down. While mistakes have been made, I want to be absolutely clear recent allegations that BBC News is institutionally biased are wrong.
“In a polarised world, BBC News journalism is more vital than ever, and I could not be prouder of the work that you do. Together we have bucked the global trend, to grow trust in BBC News, and I want to thank you, wherever you are in the world, for your courageous work to deliver that.”
Samir Shah also shared a statement on Deborah, and said: “I want to thank Deborah for her leadership of BBC News over the past three years. She has transformed the operation of News with real commitment and a clear vision of the future.
“She has acted with integrity in challenging circumstances and leaves a strong legacy from which to build for the many millions around the world who rely on and trust the voice of BBC News every day.”
BBC Director-General, Tim Davie said in a statement: “In the past three years, Deborah has led the newsroom with extraordinary energy, changing the way that it works and cementing BBC News as the most used and trusted news outlet in the UK and the most trusted news provider internationally.
“She has been a valued colleague and a passionate advocate for her team of more than 5,000 people who work round the clock and around the world, on and off air, to report without fear or favour in an age where press freedom has never been under greater pressure. Deborah offered her resignation to me last night, and I want to thank her for all that she has done and to wish her the very best for her future.”
Following the news, Labour MP, Lisa Nandy tweeted: “I want to thank Tim Davie for his service to public broadcasting over many years. He has led the BBC through a period of significant change and helped the organisation to grip the challenges it has faced in recent years.”

The White House appear to have responded to the news on Twitter with two screenshots. One from an article written by The Telegraph which stated Trump had gone to war with ‘fake news BBC’ and another from the BBC which stated Tim had resigned. They wrote the caption ‘Shot:’ above the first snap and ‘Chaser:’ above the second.
It follows after the BBC has been criticised on a number occasions in recent months, including live-streaming the controversial Bob Vylan Glastonbury set, as well as misconduct allegations surrounding the former MasterChef presenter Gregg Wallace.
