Mariah Carey declares start of festive period in iconic clip – ‘It’s time’

Mariah Carey, 56, the Queen of Christmas, made it a tradition to release a new video to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season.

Mariah Carey has officially declared the start of the festive period in an iconic clip that saw her transform into Mrs Claus. The pop star is known as the Queen of Christmas due to the immense success of her holiday music.

She gained notoriety for her 1994 albums Merry Christmas and All I Want for Christmas Is You. In the clip, she yells, “It’s time! ” while wearing an all-white angel-like outfit with wings and feathers in her new post.

The singer, who was spotted by an unhappy elf who declares that Christmas is “cancelled” because he and his coworkers are unhappy, is captured in the video, which was produced in partnership with Sephora.

He claims that Mariah Carey and the elves are striking this year. Elf retaliation for putting us through holiday abyss. The helper for Santa left. To make money off of elf therapy, I’m pawning all of this.

However, Mariah responds, “Elf boy, that’s my blush.” He replies, “Your lipstick, please? I’ll accept it. Christmas has been canceled. No cheer, glam, or bells. Bye, sweetheart”!

However, the angelic performer says to the elf, “You can’t cancel Christmas!” Billy Eichner plays the elf as he departs and asks Mariah if she has any last words, which she responds with “Yeah.” As Mariah sings, “It’s time, elf!” the elf then begins to become encased in ice.

As All I Want for Christmas Is You plays, she can be seen flying over a sleety New York City and delivering presents while driving the sleigh. The release of Mariah’s “It’s time” videos on November 1st, the day after Halloween, is a tradition.

In September, she announced she was working on the clip with director Joseph Kahn. After she shared the video on Instagram, comedian and actor Billy, 47, commented: “Always an honor to be your elf, @mariahcarey!”

Mariah acknowledged that she has never grown tired of Christmas in 2023. The singer remarked to The Mirror, “I really love Christmas and the holidays. The song is a part of the magic that I still believe to be still exists. Every time, I sing it from the heart.

The singer explained that the festive season was “a mess” during her childhood after growing up in a “dysfunctional family,” so she was so determined to change that. However, Christmas hasn’t always been a happy time for her. Mariah enjoys all the traditional customs, from decorating her numerous trees to eating festive food.

And she has also started a new tradition with her own family, taking her twins Moroccan and Monroe to Aspen, Colorado, every year to experience a white Christmas. “To see snow at Christmas is the greatest joy,” she explained. “It costs money to get to places with snow if you don’t live in one, and we never take that for granted.”

Film about Ibiza legend has ‘green-light’ and set to shoot next year

In 2026, insiders claim the script is “brilliant,” and the film is being wildly popular.

The production of a Tony Pike-inspired film is set to start the following year. The script, which is described as “captivating,” was written by Irvine Welsh, who is currently casting Tamer Hassan as Pike.

Last week, producers received the order to begin scouting locations. Welsh once claimed that the Spanish party island was his “second home” and was a regular visitor to Pike’s Hotel. His script is brilliant, according to a source, and it really illuminates the island’s extraordinary cultural legacy. . It will be epic in length. “

The infamous hotel was run by the late Pike – once dubbed Ibiza’s version of playboy Hugh Hefner – and who claimed to have slept with more than 3,000 men and women. He is also said to have taken drugs with Freddie Mercury at the hotel, which was famously the setting for Wham’s Club Tropicana video. Celebrity guests at the hotel over the years included Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin, Grace Jones, Boy George, Nirvana singer-songwriter Kurt Cobain, and Kate Moss. Pike died of cancer aged 85.

Hassan stated earlier this year when he played Pike that he wanted me to play him in the movie of his life. Find your inner Pike, he said when I said I didn’t think I could. You are capable of doing this. In 2023, “Welsh” once praised Pike. Tony was a great raconteur, he said. He had a truly greater power than life.

Israeli attacks on olive harvest ‘threaten Palestinian way of life’: UN

The UN warned that this year’s olive harvest is on track to be the most violent in more than a decade, and Israeli settlers have launched additional attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

On Saturday, the official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported several instances of settler violence, including one in fields close to Beita and Huwara, near Nablus in the West Bank, and another in Sinjil, a town close to Ramallah.

After Israeli settlers opened fire on three Palestinian farmers as they were picking their olives, three others were hurt in al-Maniya, southeast of Bethlehem.

Since Israel launched its Gaza war in 2023, there have been more settler and military attacks on Palestinians in the West Bank. However, the olive harvest season this year, which started last month, has seen an even higher increase in violent incidents.

October is on track to be the most violent month since UNRWA began tracking settler violence in 2013, according to UNRWA’s agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).

In a statement released on social media, Roland Friedrich, director of UNRWA affairs in the West Bank, stated that “the olive trees are deeply rooted in Palestinian heritage and identity. …

According to Friedrich, “attacks on the olive harvest threaten the very way of life for many Palestinians” and “increase the occupied West Bank’s coercive environment further.” Families should be able to harvest their olives without fear of harming their land, according to the article.

At least 126 Israeli settlement attacks have been reported in 70 Palestinian towns and villages this olive-picking season, according to the most recent UN statistics released on Thursday.

According to the UN’s humanitarian office (OCHA), more than 4, 000 olive trees and saplings have also been vandalized.

OCHA in addition claimed that the expansion of Israeli-occupied West Bank settlements has “further undermined Palestinian farmers’ ability to harvest their olive trees.”

In the wake of the Gaza War, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration has been quickly launching settlements, drawing international human rights organizations’ condemnations and warnings.

Israeli far-right politicians have been calling for Israel’s formally annexation of the West Bank, including members of Netanyahu’s ruling coalition.

The UN human rights office warned in July that Israeli security forces are collaborating with them to increase settler violence in the West Bank and supporting them there.

Bompastor backs ‘class’ Hampton after Earps comments

Hannah Hampton, the goalkeeper, has shown “class” in response to Mary Earps’ criticism of her, according to Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor.

After Earps questioned Hampton’s choice as her number one at Euro 2025, Bompastor also criticized Sarina Wiegman’s lack of respect for England manager.

Earps, the former England keeper, claimed she told Wiegman that her recall of Hampton to the squad, after being “disruptive and unreliable,” was “bad behavior” by her.

Earps, 32, will release her autobiography the following week, and excerpts from her book have been released by the Guardian.

“We are talking about Hannah, but I want to speak out for Wiegman,”” said Wiegman. You should probably think about it before speaking when you use the words “winner” three times in a row.

“One of the things Hannah said about Mary Earps is class, and Hannah is the class one,” Hannah said in her earlier comments about her.

Hampton reportedly had a bad attitude after joining the England squad for Euro 2022.

Wiegman later recalled Hampton, who saved two spot kicks in their Euro 2025 penalty shootout victory over Spain. He later said it was for “something personal.”

At the Ballon d’Or awards in September, the 24-year-old was also honored as the best female goalkeeper.

Earps was a key player in England’s victory at Euro 2022, and he also saved Jenni Hermoso’s penalty from Spain in their World Cup final defeat a year later.

Hampton claimed that Earps’ “changed” her “goalkeeping in the women’s game” after her shocking international retirement in June.

With all the accomplishments she’s made in the game and helped put women’s goalkeeping on the map for the younger generation, Hampton said at the time, “I think there’s been quite a bit of scrutiny that she probably doesn’t deserve.”

Hampton kept her third clean sheet in a row as Chelsea defeated London City Lionesses on Saturday morning, the morning after the first excerpts of Earps’ book were released.

It’s difficult because Hannah is both an athlete and a person. She has grown a lot since I started Chelsea, and she is a great athlete as well, Bompastor said.

We have a really positive relationship, and I want to show her my support in this circumstance. She is regarded as a classy and professional, as evidenced by what she accomplished today.

She exhibits both mental and physical qualities as the best goalkeeper in the world. We simply want to treat her with love and respect.

Sir Anthony Hopkins forced to sell home at a massive loss after devastating LA wildfires

After the devastating fire that swept through the area in January, Anthony Hopkins is selling the remains of his Pacific Palisades estate for half the amount he paid for it.

Legendary actor Sir Anthony Hopkins is quietly putting what remains of his fire-ravaged Pacific Palisades estate on the market — and make no mistake, it’s a raw deal.

The Hannibal Lecter star is selling the two now-empty plots he once combined into one grand vision, asking a total of $6.4 million — about £5.1 million — while he paid nearly $12.6 million (roughly £10 million) for them in 2018 and 2019.

Hopkins splashed out $6.6 million (around £5.2 million) for the first parcel, which included a swimming pool, then bought the neighbouring plot — with what’s left of a chimney stack — for $6 million (about £4.8 million). Now, in what amounts to a bitter £6.2 million loss, he’s selling them separately: the pool lot goes for $2.55 million (£2m), while the smokestack plot is priced at $3.85 million (£3.1m).

The reason for the fire-ravaged shell? The devastating Pacific Palisades blaze, part of the broader Los Angeles wildfires tied to the deadly Woolsey Fire, which tore through the region in January this year. The fire was the largest raging within the LA area burning thousands of structures.

Thousands of firefighters attempted to contain the wind-driven fires in California which killed 10 people, ravaged communities, and sent thousands of people frantically fleeing their properties.

Hopkins, now in his late 80s, has spoken rarely about the loss, but when he did, he was characteristically reflective. “As we all struggle to heal from the devastation of these fires, it’s important we remember that the only thing we take with us is the love we give,” he said, according to reports.

His neighbor’s property was largely destroyed by the Woolsey fire in November 2018, which had nearly escaped his home. Hopkins lost his London home to a fire in 2000, but luckily he was safe in Los Angeles at the time.

He is not at ease with his heartache. Another A-lister, Billy Crystal, whose home was destroyed by the same fire, said: “Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that cannot be lost. We are obviously devastated, but friends and our children’s love will help us get through this.

Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, the Oscar-winning singer, Cary Elwes, Ricki Lake, Heidi Montag, and Spencer Pratt, the Hills’ Spencer, and other celebrities who lost their homes in the fires are just a few examples.

Actor Cary Elwes also shared his grief, writing on Instagram : “Sadly we did lose our home … but we are grateful to have survived this truly devastating fire,” while Eugene Levy, known for Schitt’s Creek, described the terror of fleeing: “The smoke looked pretty black and intense … I couldn’t see any flames but the smoke was very dark.”

Back in January, Anthony made a surprise appearance at a Welsh fish and chip shop after losing his home to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires. Hopkins returned to his hometown of Port Talbot and decided to treat himself to a chippy. The star stunned locals as he rocked up for a portion of fish and chips. Anthony could be seen wearing a black flatcap and black coat as he ordered from the counter.

Anthony has visited the chippy before, and the owner shared a photo and said, “He’s back again for his fish and chips, can’t ask for a better advertisement.”

A local said, “In his hometown of Port Talbot this week, at Steve’s Chippy, the street I was born in, for his fish and chips supper. We love him, he loves us, and he never gets upset when he comes home.
