Beginning on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) announced the resumption of passenger train services along the Abuja–Kaduna corridor.
Commercial service will resume following the successful completion of all necessary safety, technical, and operational checks, according to Callistus Unyimadu, the company’s chief public relations officer.
The second train derailed at the same station in the previous 13 months, making the development happen on August 26. Shortly after passing a manually operated switch point that had previously been deemed unusable, the incident occurred.
The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) conducted an investigation to discover that the train’s derailment was caused by malfunctioning infrastructure and safety management blunders.
However, NRC’s update stated that the train’s necessary checks had been completed.
This action demonstrates the Corporation’s commitment to providing the traveling public with smooth, trustworthy, and secure train services.

Following the August 26, 2025 incident, the Corporation updated the passenger welfare.
“530 of the 583 passengers on board were contacted by phone, of which 512 have received refunds successfully.
“All 22 injured passengers have been contacted, many of whom have been seen by our medical team, and they will receive one free ride a week through December 31, 2025.
Before December 31, 2025, all 618 passengers on board the ship during the accident on August 26, 2025, will be eligible for one free ride.
As the train resumes its operations, it provided detailed information about the services available.

NRC later claimed that the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service’s maintenance schedule was for each Wednesday.

A new BBC One documentary reveals intimate details about Ozzy Osbourne’s final months, including the love notes he left around the house for his wife, Sharon.
Sharon claims that Ozzy leaves her “very romantic” notes around the house. You are the love of my life, according to the notes, which can be seen on screen, and “My baby girl, I love you.”

Sharon, 72, reflects on their marriage and the singer’s death on July 22 at 76, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease. “I always always told Ozzy, when you’re 70, we say goodbye,” she says in the film. Daughter Kelly, however, disagrees: “I don’t think it’s possible for either one of them to retire ever.”

The couple’s two youngest children, Kelly and Jack, as well as their close friends, are followed in the 60-minute movie as they make plans for the next chapter of their lives together in their Buckinghamshire home.
The documentary was initially due to be shown on BBC One on August 18, but was replaced with an episode of Fake Or Fortune? with the broadcaster saying it had been “moved in the schedules”.
A BBC spokesperson said: “Our sympathies are with the Osbourne family at this difficult time” shortly after the documentary’s postponement. We respect the family’s request to air this extremely special movie for a while.
Just weeks after reuniting with his band for a farewell concert at Villa Park in his hometown of Birmingham, Osbourne, who passed away on July 22 from a reportedly heart attack, died at the age of 76.
Osbourne and his wife Sharon’s move back from the US, where they had resided for more than 20 years, was the original intention behind the BBC documentary, which was released as a series in 2022.
However, the three-year project “evolved as Ozzy’s health deteriorated” into the one-hour film, according to the BBC.
Ozzy: No Escape From Now, a feature-length film about the late Black Sabbath frontman, will be available on the streaming service on October 7. Paramount+ has made the announcement.
Ozzy and Sharon were married for 43 years, from the day they got engaged on July 4, 1982, until Ozzy passed away in July. Their long-lasting union spanned more than four decades, and it was a significant component of their private lives, particularly after the success of their reality series The Osbournes.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been denied an acquittal and a new trial. The rapper, 55, will be sentenced late this week in Manhattan after his conviction on two counts of arranging interstate travel for people engaged in prostitution.
Diddy was found guilty of the two counts above but he was acquitted of the more serious offences of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. If he had have been found guilty, these could have resulted in a life sentence.
Diddy’s team had originally requested that the judge conduct a new trial based only on the prostitution charges as they claimed he was unjustly charged under the Mann Act for consensual sexual activity between adults.
However, an acquittal and new trial request has been denied. US District Judge Arun Subramanian wrote in new court documents: “The government at trial presented overwhelming evidence of Combs’s guilt under the Mann Act on many occasions with respect to both Ventura and Jane. The government proved its case many times over. That by itself might be enough to dispose of Combs’s challenge”, according to The New York Times newspaper.
Diddy faces up to 10 years in prison for each of the two counts of arranging interstate travel for people engaged in prostitution. His defence attorneys have asked that he is sentenced to no more than 14 months in prison, which with good behaviour would mean an immediate release from prison.
The prosecution have asked the judge to sentence Diddy to a minimum of 11 years and three months in prison.
During an eight week long trial, the jury heard testimony from Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and a woman who used the pseudonym Jane. In a three-page victim impact statement ahead of his sentencing, she wrote: “For four days in May, while nine months pregnant with my son, I testified in front of a packed courtroom about the most traumatic and horrifying chapter in my life.

“I testified that from age nineteen, Sean Combs used violence, threats, substances, and control over my career to trap me in over a decade of abuse. He groomed me into performing repeated sex acts with hired male sex workers during multi-day ‘freak offs,’ which occurred nearly weekly.
I was made to wear lingerie and heels, given exactly how to look, and given drugs and alcohol so he could manipulate me like a puppet. Before he demanded it all again, I had infections, illnesses, and days of physical and emotional exhaustion because these things were degrading and disgusting. My only option to stay in his good graces was to perform sex acts, which became my full-time job.
By beating American teenager Learner Tien 6-2, 6-2 in the China Open final, Jannik Sinner has won the 21st title of his career.
