The Wrong Paris’ Miranda Cosgrove claims friends ‘had crush’ on her Netflix co-star

The new Netflix romcom follows a young woman who signs up for a dating show in Paris, Texas, believing it is filmed in France.

Miranda Cosgrove has opened up about the moment she knew her romcom co-star Pierson Fodé was the right choice – and how her friends reacted to the casting.

The iCarly icon fronts Netflix’s new film The Wrong Paris, which features Fodé alongside Madison Pettis and Yvonne Orji.

It follows Dawn (portrayed by Cosgrove), a young woman who is accepted into her dream art school in Paris, France. But she soon realises she cannot afford the flight to Europe, or to make ends meet once she arrives.

Dawn’s fate changes when she discovers that a new The Bachelor-style dating show, which is filmed in Paris, is recruiting female contestants.

She applies for the show, plotting to quit after the production team have covered her travel expenses. But her plan fails when she wins a spot on the programme and discover the series is filmed in Paris, Texas.

While there, Dawn also sparks a connection with the show’s horse-riding bachelor Trey McAllen (played by Fodé). The newfound romance complicates her plans to study abroad.

Cosgrove was among the film’s executive producer, so she had some say in who would play her on-screen love interest.

The 32-year-old recently revealed the moment she ‘knew for sure’ Fodé was fit for the role.

Speaking to People Magazine, she said: “When he came in to do the chemistry reads, that was really when I knew for sure, ‘This is going to work out.'”

The former child star added that her friends were also in agreement. “I asked a bunch of my girlfriends at the time,” she shared. “They were all like, ‘Him.’ All my friends just had crushes on Pierson.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Cosgrove described her colleague as “a really good actor and a great person.” However, she confessed to one challenge the duo faced while filming.

She told People that Fode stands at “6 feet, 7 inches tall,” although online reports place him at 6 feet, 3 inches. Meanwhile, Cosgrove is reportedly around 5 feet, 6 inches tall.

Their height difference was so noticeable on screen that Cosgrove often stood on boxes during their joint scenes.

“And it’s just crazy how tall he is… They kept having to put me up on boxes and things for certain shots because I’m still much smaller than him,” Cosgrove explained.

What Miriam Margolyes ‘insists’ on having backstage on tour

Miriam Margolyes has shared the things that she needs every single time she’s on tour, but you may be surprised at the minimalistic things the 84-year-old requires…

Miriam Margolyes is well-known for her crude sense of humour and often blurting out the most inappropriate answers when being interviewed. The 84-year-old is no diva, however, as in her latest book, ‘The Little Book of Miriam,’ in which she jokes she’s written “for the money,” she shared what her backstage wants and needs are.

Miriam’s latest book is an A-Z of words she loves or feels she has a story to tell. R has many meanings, but one of the words for which she wrote an explanation is ‘rider’. Many celebrities will ask for the most outlandish things on their riders, but Miriam was keen to explain that she prefers to keep it simple.

For those not in the know, a rider is a document sent by a performing artist or band to a booker or venue, detailing their technical and hospitality requirements for a gig.

Some celebs decide they want extravagance, perhaps asking for bottles of champagne and a lot of expensive snacks.

But Miriam prefers to keep it simple. In her book, she explained: “Mine is not complicated: give me Wi-Fi, good brown bread, butter, smoked salmon responsibly sourced, freshly sliced onions and Big Tom tomato juice, and I’m happy. A gin and tonic is always welcome too.”

Speaking about artists who ask for “bowls of blue M&Ms,” or “redecoration of the room,” she said she thinks it’s “silly” and not necessary.

Miriam, who went viral on TikTok for her potty-mouthed rant getting into a pool saying “f****** h***, s***, this is a f******* nightmare, f****** h***” did say, however, there was something even more important than her beloved onions, which she carries around whole as a low-calorie snack and bites into like an apple.

The most “vital” thing for Miriam is to have “a loo within reach,” which she says is often “taken for granted”.

When it comes to going on tour and working, Miriam still adores it, saying it’s “hard work but fun,” and still enjoys playing to different audiences each night and trying to work out what makes them tick.

Miriam recently admitted she and her long-term partner Heather Sutherland, 82, plan to relocate to Tuscany in Italy because they need somewhere ‘beautiful’ to live.

She said: “The world around us has lost its charm. And we just want each other in a beautiful place which we know. We can toddle along and laugh and just quietly subside into old age. But together. We’re here for such a short time. It’s gone so fast. Mentally, I’m still fairly crisp.”

Prince Harry’s shock Ukraine trip set to deepen William feud after ‘Palace fury’

Prince Harry has made a surprise visit to Ukraine to support the rehabilitation of those wounded by the war, but the worthy visit might increase tensions with his older brother, Prince William

In a surprise move, Prince Harry has travelled to Kyiv with the Invictus Foundation, visiting wartorn Ukraine after spending four days in the UK.

The Duke of Sussex reunited with his father, King Charles, while he was back on home soil, and the pair spent nearly an hour together at Clarence House, marking the first time they had met in person in 19 months.

However, his strained relationship with his older brother Prince William shows no signs of easing any time soon. Both siblings were busy with engagements during Harry’s visit, at one point just eight miles apart, but no meeting between the once-close duo was scheduled.

Harry’s visit to Kyiv, where important government buildings were hit by Russian missiles last weekend, comes just months after he visited the country previously, spending time at the Superhuman Trauma Centre in Lyiv, which works with amputees.

After a chance encounter with the CEO of the centre in New York, Olga Rudnieva, it was suggested he visit Kyiv itself, which is far closer to the conflict than Lyiv.

He has explained that he requested permissioned from the UK government for the trip, as well as checking with Meghan it was all right with her, before the Ukrainian government officially invited him.

Harry’s been a dedicated supporter of wounded veterans since leaving the Armed Forces himself, launching the Invictus Games to promote the healing power of sport for former servicepeople back in 2014.

However, his first visit to Ukraine is said to have left his older brother, Prince William, “fuming” at palace officials.

William’s also been a massive supporter of Ukraine since Russia invaded in 2022, but he was reportedly blocked from visiting the country itself on the grounds of “security concerns” in 2024.

He has been allowed to visit Poland, where he met with British soldiers and thanked them for “defending our freedoms”. He also visited Estonia, where he got the chance to speak with Ukrainian refugees and visit an army base that’s a crucial strategic point in NATO’s eastern flank.

However, the future King was told in no uncertain terms, the Daily Mail reported, that he wouldn’t be able to visit Ukraine itself. Despite the fact he had “long-hoped” to go, it was “firmly rejected” as a possibility, with the heir to the throne expressing his displeasure to Kensington Palace staff, “rankled” by the fact his younger brother had gone.

The different fates of the two brothers has long caused contention between them. Harry’s role as the ‘spare’ to William’s heir is so much a part of his understanding of himself that he even made it the title of his bombshell memoir, released in 2023.

Harry writes in the book that rivalry and competitiveness were present in the brothers’ relationship from their early childhood, even calling William his “beloved brother and arch nemesis”.

In an interview promoting the book, Harry claimed he believed his brother was jealous of his position, saying, “I have more freedom than he does, right? So his life is planned out for him. I have more flexibility to be able to choose the life that I wanted.”

In his memoir, Harry also wrote that William had once hoped to go to the “front lines” just as the Duke of Sussex did in his two tours of Afghanistan, but the palace had “scuttled his plans”.

“I was training to get to the front line, the same place Willy had been training to get, but the Palace had scuttled his plans,” he wrote. “The Spare, sure, let him run around a battlefield like a chicken with its head cut off, if that’s what he likes.”

Little Mix’s former vocalist Jade Thirlwall has released her debut album after “years in the marking” and fans have shared their glowing reviews online, calling the South Shields singer a “genius”.

Jade, 32, is the last member of the quartet to have released her own solo music following the band’s hiatus announcement in 2021.

She first found fame when she auditioned for X Factor in 2011. Although she didn’t succeed as a solo artist, she was put into a four person girl group, Little Mix, alongside Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jesy Nelson.

The group eventually won the show, becoming the first band to do so. Little Mix went on to have multiple hit albums, including one in which only Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne were featured, after Jesy split from the group in 2020. The remaining trio announced a hiatus in 2021.

While the group is still on hiatus, all three have pursued solo albums. Leigh-Anne’s was released first in May 2024, whilst Perrie’s is set to be released on 26 September. Jade’s debut album, That’s Showbiz Baby, has gone down a huge hit with fans ahead of a tour which kicks off in October.

Tiled THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY!, the album’s full track-list has finally been revealed with songs including Angel of My Dreams, Midnight Cowboy, Fantasy, IT Girl and FUFN. The record also includes features from well known artists, such as RAYE, Pablo Bowman, Lostboy and Mike Sabath.

Jade and RAYE worked together on a single from the album titled Midnight Cowboy – which was released on September 25, 2024. The Escapism singer has previously worked with Jade when she was part of Little Mix, creating their popular hit named Told You So.

The news of her first solo album was met with a lot of excitement from fans earlier this year, who have been waiting for the singer to release her music.

As previously reported by The Mirror, the singer has already been making big moves on her own, winning her first BRIT Award for Best Pop Act and a set for Glastonbury’s 2025 music festival.

Announcing the news of the release date of her album, THAT’S SHOWBIZ BABY!, fans flooded the comments section with words of excitement. One wrote: “Bring it on I can’t wait!,” with a second one adding in capital letters: “EVERYBODY MOVE SHE’S SAVING THE MUSIC INDUSTRY.”

And following its hotly anticipated release, fans have labelled Jade’s album as “the best thing they’ve ever heard.”

Taking to X to share their thoughts, one fan gushed: “This album is EVERYTHING I needed this year. Jade smashed it.” Another echoed: “Obsessed!! The melodies, the lyrics… Jade just raised the bar.”

“This is literally the best thing I have ever heard!!! Every single song is incredible. Jade the woman that you are,” someone else gushed.

“This album is a masterpiece. Jade’s vocals are flawless, the lyrics hit so hard, and each song feels like it tells a story. Honestly, she’s outdone herself,” another fan agreed. While someone else added: “I wasn’t ready for how good this album would be. Jade’s voice is stunning, the songs are addictive, and it’s honestly impossible to pick a favorite track.”

Jade is set to embark on a short tour in the UK and Ireland, starting on October 8, 2025 in Dublin, Ireland and ending on October 19, 2025 in London.

Wrexham deserve praise for buliding ‘outstanding’ squad

Conor Coady has labelled Wrexham’s squad as “outstanding” and says the club deserve praise for the way they have developed the team since gaining a third successive promotion.

Phil Parkinson’s side took their total of incomings across the summer transfer window to 13 players by bringing in Dom Hyam, Ben Sheaf and Issa Kaboré on deadline day.

Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney forked out in the region of £30m to do so, ensuring Wrexham had the highest net spend of any side in the Championship.

But summer addition Coady – who has featured in all four of his new club’s Championship matches since moving to the Stok Cae Ras from Leicester City – says he is “massively excited” to continue the season following the latest additions to the squad.

“I’m so excited to be a part of it. I was one of those excited people seeing players come through the door, players to make us better. Real good people first and foremost, but fantastic footballers as well.

What information do we collect from this quiz?

New recruits Hyam and Kaboré will be assessed before Saturday’s contest with Queens Park Rangers (15:00 BST) in north Wales, having been away with Scotland and Burkina Faso respectively during the international break.

Coady admits he tracked the entirety of transfer deadline day and was left thrilled with the late business undertaken by Wrexham.

“Deadline day is exciting for everybody, including us as players,” added the centre-back.

“When you see top quality players who have had fantastic careers come into your club, it’s always exciting.

“Having Sheafo (Ben Sheaf) in, Dom being away with Scotland and Issa’s been away as well, to have them all back and firing for us is brilliant.

Coady endured tough spells with Everton and Leicester prior to making the switch to Wrexham on the opening day of August.

But he has swiftly settled into his new surroundings in north Wales and says the club has already exceeded his lofty expectations.

“I love it, I’m loving everything about it and how refreshing the football club is. I just want to work with good people and play football with good people – that’s the most important thing for me,” added Coady.

“To be part of this football club is special but the first few weeks have been everything I wanted and more.
