Fulham agree £22m fee for Chelsea winger George

Tyrique George’s signing from Chelsea has been agreed for a £22 million fee by Fulham.

Chelsea have a sell-on clause in place of the 19-year-old’s five-year contract, while Craven Cottage has the same issue.

German side RB Leipzig were interested in George on deadline day, but they are not known to have made any official offers to Chelsea. He is primarily a winger but can also play as a striker.

Since joining the first team at the beginning of last season, the teenager has scored three goals and provided five assists in 27 games. He is expected to leave Stamford Bridge.

The move comes as a record-breaking record signing for Fulham would have been canceled because Portuguese side Sporting had offered the same sum as the £34 million deal for Brazilian winger Kevin from Shakhtar Donetsk.

Fulham had offered Kevin, 22, a five-year deal.

However, Samuel Chukwueze from AC Milan has undergone a medical and is expected to join Fulham before the transfer window closes on Monday at 19:00 BST.

Marco Silva, who has previously complained about the club’s limited transfer activity, would be benefited by the new signings.

With the exception of Montpellier goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, Silva claimed that the Cottagers had been “passive” throughout the summer.

The Cottagers are 18th in the table and have only two points from their first three Premier League games.

Guyana votes in elections amid oil boom debate and Venezuela tensions

People in Guyana are voting for a president and members of parliament who will be watching over billions in oil revenue, offshore production with a United States-led international consortium, and tensions with Venezuela.

Over 750, 000 registered voters will have until 6pm (22: 00 GMT) on Monday to cast ballots at some 2, 800 polling places.

Six parties are participating in the election to fight for the presidency and seats in the 65-member parliament.

But it is effectively a three-way race between President Irfaan Ali of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Aubrey Norton of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR), and billionaire Azruddin Mohamed, who started his We Invest in Nationhood party in March to challenge the two-party status quo.

Voting has traditionally taken place along ethnic lines, with the Indo-Guyanese supporting the PPP, and Guyanese of African descent backing the PNCR.

Billionaire Mohamed means to disrupt the system and has garnered some young backers of his own. But he is shunned by the US, which sanctioned him last year over allegations that he and his father Nazar Mohamed defrauded the Guyanese government of tax revenue and bribed public officials. They deny any wrongdoing.

The South American country’s president is seeking re-election as he wants to spend revenue from oil sales and royalties from a contract with ExxonMobil and others on infrastructure. Ali has governed one of the world’s fastest-growing economies since 2020 as a result of the oil boom.

But opposition groups claim that oil earnings disproportionately favour well-connected groups, and three of the five parties challenging the PPP have also pledged to renegotiate the country’s contract with ExxonMobil.

The victor will manage a booming oil economy that has quadrupled the state budget to $6.7bn in 2025 since production began in 2019.

But they will also have to navigate a crucial border dispute with Venezuela over the Essequibo region, where most of the nation’s oil reserves are located.

The Venezuelan government claims the region, which has been governed by Guyana since independence in 1966, as its own. Despite Caracas having no authority there, Venezuela elected a governor to the region this year.

The electoral commission in Guyana has said results may be expected by Thursday or later. The party that wins the most votes will select the next president.

With the return of The Great British Bake Off, co-host Noel Fielding will be returning to screens just months after abruptly disappearing from a TV show at the beginning of this year.

Presenter Noel, 52, has scarcely been seen on TV since dropping out of filming the second season of his Apple TV show, The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, leading some to question whether he would be returning to host Bake Off.

The actor’s health is said to be the cause of his decision to not shoot again in January, which is causing a lot of concern, especially as the season was about to wrap up. A spokesperson at the time stated that the health of our client is a private and private matter.

Here is a breakdown of his health, his sporadic appearances since January, and rumors about his future with the Channel 4 show as Noel and The Great British Bake Off both return tomorrow (2 September).

Show’s abrupt axe

Following Dick Turpin’s abrupt cancellation of The Completely Made-Up Adventures, concern was raised about Noel’s health. A second season of the show was announced in July, just as the show first aired on AppleTV last year.

A source told the Times that Noel had “no choice but to stop”. They continued: “People have been concerned about Noel’s wellbeing and given him time to recover but there are serious repercussions.”

The comedian has not been able to film a show before for health reasons. Noel skipped the first day of The Great British Bake Off’s first filming in 2022, but co-host Matt Lucas did the rest, presenting only the first half of the episode. Similar to the year before, eagle-eyed observers observed Noel disappearing just before the German week showstopper round. Noel was reportedly “under the weather,” according to Matt Lucas, who was speaking during the episode.

appearances on the flimsy

Since he left the AppleTV show, the comedian has made a few appearances, but none have been particularly frequent. Noel and his wife Lliana Bird were spotted in North London in February. His first appearance since leaving the show was this one.

He joked that he and fellow Bake Off star Prue Leith shot shots backstage at a Kasabian Brits Week performance two weeks later. In July, Noel and his wife were spotted at BST Hyde Park as well.

There were concerns that Noel would not be able to film The Great British Bake Off after his unexpected departure from Dick Turpin’s Completely Made-Up Adventures. However, those worries vanished as soon as a comedian’s representative assured fans that Noel would return.

“There has been absolutely no discussion about Noel stepping down from Bake Off,” they told Deadline.

“We have been in contact with Channel 4 and Love Productions throughout all the speculation and his ‘stepping down’ has never been part of that dialogue. We can confirm he will be returning to co-host the next series of Bake Off.”

Kaduna Govt Warns El-Rufai Against Alleged Plot To Destabilise State

The former governor Nasir El-Rufai’s recent comments on a television show, in which he accused the federal and state governments of “bribing bandits” to achieve peace, have been condemned by the Kaduna State Government.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Suleiman Shuaibu, said El-Rufai’s comments are “calculated, malicious lies designed to undermine security efforts, incite public anger, and legitimise criminality.”

The former governor’s recent actions posed a direct threat to peace and development, according to the statement, who also claimed that he had plotted to “provoke, manipulate, and incite,” and that it would not allow him to repress the state into violence.

The former governor’s activities increased in response to the defeat of his political allies in the by-elections on August 16 in the opinion of the Commissioner.

The Commissioner declared, “This Government will not fold its arms and allow a discredited former leader who abandoned the state to suffocate it to cause chaos and bring the state into a new era of ethno-religious tension, insecurity, and economic stagnation.”

In free, fair, and transparent elections that affirmed the people’s confidence in Senator Uba Sani’s progressive leadership and Senator Shuaibu’s leadership, his rejected candidates and the incoherent coalition he assembled were resoundingly defeated, according to Shuaibu.

El-Rufai has chosen to sabotage this democratic outcome in order to refuse to accept it with dignity.

El-Rufa allegedly convened “an illegal and chaotic meeting” with his political associates on August 30 that turned into a series of violent incidents, including gunshots to endanger innocent people, according to the government.

El-Rufai made a false claim that the government sponsored thugs to disrupt the meeting, which was true to form, according to the statement.

Why would a Governor who has just won the hearts of the people with credible elections need to disrupt a gathering of losers? El-Rufai’s desire to return Kaduna to the violence and fear that defined his rule is exposed in this narrative, which insults the intelligence of Kaduna residents as well.

The Commissioner also pointed out that El-Rufai’s accusations had already been refuted by the Office of the National Security Advisor (ONSA), insisting neither the Federal Government nor any of its subordinates had ever paid bandits.

Instead, Shuaibu noted that both the federal and the state governments have repeatedly urged Nigerians to never pay ransom and to pursue justice through coordinated military and community engagement plans.

He claims that security improvements made by Governor Uba Sani’s administration were evident in previously troubled regions like Igabi, Giwa, Kajuru, Kauru, Kachia, and Birnin Gwari. Boderi, Baleri, and Sani Yellow were among the infamous bandit leaders who were eliminated, according to him, while Ansaru members were also detained.

It is “beyond shameful for a former governor who once held the highest office in the state to publicly deny these hard-won victories and insult the memory of brave officers who lost their lives in the service,” he said.

The government contrasted El-Rufai’s eight years in office with Uba Sani’s nearly two years, which the organization claimed focused on dialogue, development, and division, which it described as “division and intimidation.”

According to the statement, “It is well known that El-Rufai’s time as governor was characterised by ethno-religious division, disregard for human life, a climate of fear, and the systematic marginalization of whole communities.”

Uba Sani, the president, has a new direction that emphasizes healing, dialogue, inclusion, and sustainable development. The Government has cultivated trust and ownership in security strategies through dialogue with traditional rulers, local leaders, and rural communities. Birnin Gwari, formerly bandit-infested areas, are among the beneficiaries of the Kaduna Peace Model, which has produced measurable outcomes. The people are beginning to see hope again as farmers return to their land, and children are back to school.

With millions of citizens integrating into the financial system and upgrading facilities across the 23 local government areas, the statement also lists accomplishments in education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

El-Rufai was advised by the commissioner to abstain from violent behavior, citing the security agencies’ high alert status.

He declared, “This will not be tolerated by the Kaduna State Government.” Within the bounds of the law, this administration will take all necessary steps to preserve the stability and peace that our citizens have worked so hard to rebuild.

No one can destabilize the state, no matter how well-established or powerful they are. Kaduna State’s peace is a non-negotiable.

Chelsea agree Bayern deal for Jackson & loan Buonanotte

Nicolas Jackson’s transfer to Bayern Munich has received a better package from Chelsea.

The 24-year-old is set to complete an initial loan of £14.3 million (16.5%), which includes a requirement to purchase a minimum of £56.2 million (65 million euros) through a minimum number of appearances, following an off-lease transfer saga.

Similar to the one that was initially agreed, the agreement is now worth more than £70 million.

Jackson’s contract with Bayern was in doubt after Chelsea instructed him to return after Liam Delap was injured in Saturday’s Premier League win over Fulham, and personal terms are already in place for a future five-year, permanent deal.

The Villarreal forward from Senegal made 30 goals in 81 games before moving to Chelsea for a 32-million deal in 2023.

Chelsea have signed 20-year-old Argentine Facundo Buonanotte on a season-long loan from Brighton to increase their attacking options.

Up until Jackson’s red card at St James’ Park in April, which was his second suspension of the season, when the club was vying for a spot in the Champions League without a striker, the team was automatically a starter.

In the 3-1 group-stage defeat by Flamengo in the Club World Cup, Fifa’s expanded competition, which Chelsea ultimately won, Jackson was then immediately dismissed just four minutes after starting as a substitute. During the tournament, Liam Delap and Joao Pedro made their debuts.

Jackson ultimately lost the trust of manager Enzo Maresca and some members of the Stamford Bridge hierarchy, according to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, prompting Jackson to seek a change.

Maresca earlier in April claimed the frontman was his “perfect number nine” and preferred to have him play “a copy of Nico” rather than take his place.

Delap will be replaced by who?

Delap’s injury, which could put him out for “six to eight weeks,” altered Chelsea’s transfer plans.

Fermin Lopez, a Barcelona forward, was offered to the Blues earlier that day, but they were then forced to change their focus while sorting out the striker situation.

Jackson still wanted to join the Munich side, so they initially decided to revoke permission for him to have a medical with Bayern.

In order to pay for the purchase of Conrad Harder, Chelsea were then interested in a permanent sale. The 20-year-old was already in close contact with RB Leipzig, who had an offer for a more significant squad position on the table.

Marc Guiu, 19, will be recalled from his season-long loan at Sunderland by the Blues.

Chelsea snuck into Leeds United’s move for Buonanotte, and the club will pay about £2 million to temporarily sign the twice-capped Argentina international.

As Leicester City’s loanee team lost their first title of the previous season, and the forward managed six goals and three assists in 35 appearances.

Co-sporting director Paul Winstanley and director of global recruitment Sam Jewell are two Chelsea employees who are well-versed in Buonanotte from their time at Brighton.

Alejandro Garnacho, a 40-million-pound signing from Argentina, has already been acquired by Maresca’s side.

He and brother Noel had quickly marched on the stage to rouse the band’s supporters. You might have wondered what it would be like to perform this song together with your Oasis fellow fans, right? Noel, who was standing ovate with his sibling, said. You’re about to discover what that feeling is, in fact.

After Robin Westman, 23, opened fire on himself during a church mass at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis on Wednesday morning, Fletcher Merkel, 8, and a 10-year-old girl died. 14 children between the ages of 6 and 15 and three parishioners in their 80s were among the injured in the attack, which also included three children. According to police, Westman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Jessie Merkel, Fletcher’s father, claimed in a statement to NBC News that the family couldn’t “hold him, talk to him, play with him, and watch him develop into the wonderful young man he was on the path to becoming.”

“Fletcher loved his family, friends, fishing, cooking and any sports that he was allowed to play,” his father told NBC News. “While the hole in our hearts and lives will never be filled, I hope that in time, our family can find healing.”

Investigators are now examining a series of disturbing posts and YouTube videos left behind by Westman, including a YouTube video expressing views of wanting to kill Donald Trump.

The names of former mass shooters, including Norwegian White Supremacist Anders Breivik and Adam Lanza, who carried out the 2011 and 2012 Sandy Hook killings, respectively, are written on firearms and magazines owned by the killer. On the magazines and firearms, anti-Semitic slurs and anti-India posts were also written.

Five days after the shooting, the Oasis concert continued. After the siblings got caught up in a fight, Liam gave his older brother an olive branch, who had not seen eye-to-eye until last year. It is now claimed that Liam has invited Noel over for Christmas to his North London residence.

Following their enormously successful tour, Liam wants to make Christmas extra special this year. He hopes to bring the entire family together as they rest peacefully.

“Liam and Noel would love to have everyone around the dinner table,” said Noel, “after their own children have enjoyed their time together on their tour.”

After attending both shows in Dublin earlier this month, their devoted mother, Peggy, finally had the opportunity to see their sons perform on stage for the first time in 16 years.
