Nothern Superchargers 112-7 (100 balls): Litchfield 31 (27); Kerr 2-20

Manchester Originals win by five runs

Northern Superchargers missed the chance to move top of the table in the women’s Hundred competition, falling to a five-run defeat to Manchester Originals at Old Trafford.

Chasing 118, the visiting side had looked set for victory after Phoebe Litchfield and Alice Davidson-Richards put on 64 for the second wicket.

But Litchfield’s dismissal by Melie Kerr began a spell where Superchargers lost four wickets for 17 runs and saw their chase stall.

Needing 14 from the final 10 balls, Sophie Ecclestone had Bess Heath caught superbly by Deandra Dottin and Lauren Filer removed Kate Cross as Superchargers fell short.

Earlier, Cross had got her side off to a strong side after Superchargers chose to bowl, dismissing both Originals openers for single figures.

Captain Beth Mooney was bowled by the former Originals seamer and Kathryn Bryce was caught behind.

Having only reached 58-4 from 64 balls, Deandra Dottin powered the Originals to a respectable score, hammering 51 from 26 as they finished on 117-5.

A communique signed by the Edo state Command Public Relations Officer,  CSP Moses Joel Yamu, said his men acted on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, after a series of complaints

”On 15th August 2025, operatives of the Ugbowo Surveillance Team successfully intercepted the suspects with a silver Colored Toyota Yaris and other incriminating items.”

Manchester United are in discussions to sign Germany forward Giovanna Hoffmann from RB Leipzig.

The 26-year-old appeared in all five of her country’s matches at Euro 2025 and started in the quarter-final victory over France and semi-final defeat by Spain.

Hoffmann has spent her entire career so far in Germany, having played for Werder Bremen and SC Freiburg before her move to RB Leipzig in 2024.

She made her international debut last year and has scored three goals in 12 appearances.

United, who finished third in the Women’s Super League, targeted Hoffmann having already signed Swedish pair, winger Fridolina Rolfo and midfielder Julia Zigiotti Olme.

Katie Price’s controversial decision that ‘triggered’ Peter Andre’s furious statement

A move Katie Price made over daughter Princess reportedly triggered ex-husband Peter Andre into making his bombshell statement

Peter Andre released a furious statement last week aimed at ex-wife Katie Price

A controversial decision Katie Price made is said to have prompted ex-husband Peter Andre’s furious statement against her.

The glamour model was seen getting yet another cosmetic surgery this week as she was photographed in Turkey after having undergone a facelift in Istanbul. Katie, 46, was snapped walking through a hotel restaurant in the city with surgical bandages visibly applied to her head.

The images came on the same day that daughter, Princess Andre, 18, launched her new four-part documentary series on ITV2. Now it has been reported that the images of Katie were what prompted Peter to lose his temper as Katie has been accused of attempting to steal the limelight from her daughter.

Katie was allegedly banned from taking part in the reality series as it was made in a deal with the same management company as Peter works with. “Katie would have known exactly when those pictures were going to be published. She has form for setting picture opportunities up with the paparazzi and this appears to be no exception, a source told the Daily Mail. “They went out at 1.21pm on the same day of Princess launching her show.”

The source then brutally slammed her for the move and claimed it was “an attempt to take some of the attention away from her own daughter”.

They also claimed that Katie’s refusal to support their daughter in her TV career was a huge trigger for Peter and sparked his scathing statement. Accusing Katie of “making up lies” and “slagging off her own daughter’s show”, they continued: “She even said she wouldn’t be watching it. Imagine the hurt for Princess. Peter knew Katie would have something to say but nobody thought it would be this bad.”

Peter, 52, slammed Katie on Instagram in a statement that read, “For 16 years, I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, out of respect for my children and loved ones, but staying silent has been incredibly frustrating. That ends today.

“The latest comments about my children’s welfare and living arrangements compel me to set the record straight. For well-documented reasons, and for their safety, Junior and Princess came into my care in 2018 and remained with me until they reached adulthood.

“In 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order to enforce this arrangement. I have never made this public before, out of respect for my children. Unfortunately there are many more lies and baseless accusations I have yet to address. Those will now be dealt with in the coming months.”

Katie subsequently responded with a post that read, “I know I will always be seen as a sinner. That’s fair. I allowed myself to fall into a reliance on drugs and alcohol. At times I was not the mother I should have been while I struggled with mental illness.

Bolivia heads to the polls as 20 years of leftist rule expected to end

People in Bolivia are headed to the polls to elect the next president as well as the members of the Congress, with the governing socialists expected to lose power after almost 20 years due to a deep economic crisis and division within the leftist coalition.

Ballot stations opened on Sunday at 8am (12:00 GMT) and will close at 4pm (20:00 GMT), with initial results expected after 9pm (01:00 GMT on Monday).

The election is also the first time in almost two decades that polling indicates Bolivia’s incumbent Movement for Socialism, or MAS, could face defeat. MAS-affiliated and other left-leaning candidates trail the right-wing opposition by about 10 percent, according to the latest August Ipsos MORI survey.

Eight presidential candidates are in the running – from the far-right to the political left. But two candidates appear to have a comfortable lead: Jorge “Tuto” Quiroga, who served as interim president and vice president under former military ruler Hugo Banzer, and Samuel Doria Mediana, a wealthy businessman and former planning minister.

Medina, 66, and Quiroga, 65, are neck-and-neck, according to the polling survey.

Former leftist President Evo Morales has been barred from running, and the outgoing socialist President Luis Arce, who had fallen out with Morales, opted out of the race.

Divided left

Eduardo del Castillo, who is backed by outgoing President Arce, is the official MAS party candidate. Andronico Rodriguez, who has distanced himself from the MAS party, is running as an independent.

Morales, Bolivia’s undisputed left-wing leader for the last 15 years, is holed up in his tropical stronghold, where he still leads the coca growers union. He has asked his followers to cast invalid votes.

“Brothers, we are on the right track. Absenteeism, blank ballots, undecided voters, all of it,” Morales told Radio Kawsachun Coca, his media outlet in the Bolivian jungle of Chapare, where he has been holed up for months among fiercely loyal coca-growing labour unions.

If Morales leaves his tropical stronghold, he risks arrest on charges related to statutory rape. He denies the allegations.

Official results are due within seven days. Voters will also elect all 26 senators and 130 deputies, and officials assume office on November 8.

A run-off will take place on October 19 if no candidate wins an outright majority.

‘Worst crisis in a generation’

The Andean country is struggling through its worst crisis in a generation, marked by annual inflation of almost 25 percent and critical shortages of dollars and fuel.

The two frontrunners have pledged significant changes to Bolivia’s big-state economic model if elected.

Doria Medina, a millionaire former planning minister, made a fortune in cement before going on to build Bolivia’s biggest skyscraper and acquire the local Burger King franchise.

Seen as a centrist, he has promised to halt inflation and bring back fuel and dollars within 100 days, without cutting anti-poverty programs.

“We will change everything, absolutely everything after 20 lost years,” said the tough-talking Quiroga, who trained as an engineer in the United States, during his closing rally in La Paz on Wednesday.

Bolivia enjoyed more than a decade of strong growth and Indigenous upliftment under Morales, who nationalised the gas sector and ploughed the proceeds into social programmes that halved extreme poverty during his stint in power between 2006 and 2019.

But underinvestment in exploration has caused gas revenues to implode, falling from a peak of $6.1bn in 2013 to $1.6bn last year.

With the country’s other major resource, lithium, still underground, the government has nearly run out of the foreign exchange needed to import fuel, wheat and other foodstuffs.
