Katie Price says ‘poor JJ’ as she watches him get surgery while recovering from her own

Former glamour model Katie Price has revealed she watched her boyfriend JJ Slater get cosmetic surgery as she recovers from her latest round of beauty treatments

Katie Price has shared her nerves as she watched her boyfriend JJ Slater get surgery. The former glamour model, 47, is recovering from her own latest procedure after jetting to Turkey.

She revealed she had another round of cosmetic procedures in Istanbul and can no longer perform basic tasks amid her healing process. However, it hasn’t put off her Married At First Sight UK partner as he is going under the knife as well.

Katie revealed it was now JJ’s turn as she showed off her bandages and prepared to get a very close view. It comes after Katie worried fans with appearance in family photo after explaining weight loss.

She took a selfie while sat in the sun and wore a small bandage above her top lip. Katie shared: “Watching JJ get his surgery we were both so nervous.”

Despite the nerves, JJ had Katie throughout his procedure. Earlier this week, the mum-of-five was seen leaving Turkey’s Trio Clinic with her face heavily bandaged, having undergone a series of enhancements, including a brow lift, eye lift, and lip correction.

She appeared upbeat in snaps she shared from the hospital even though her face appeared swollen and in dressings. The latest procedures follow a £10,000 facelift and add to her long list of body modifications.

However, it seems to have come at a price as Katie revealed she can no longer smile after her latest operations. Taking to her social media yesterday, the former glamour posted a photo of her brand-new face as she covered her eyes with huge oversized sunglasses.

Showing off her plump pout, Katie told her followers: “I can’t smile.” She hinted it will be a long road to recovery. Katie has often spoken openly about her battle with body image and surgery addiction.

Earlier this year while appearing on The Louis Theroux podcast, the mum-of-five admitted that she thinks she has suffered with body dysmorphia all of her life.

“I don’t ever look in the mirror and think I look good. I never have done. So, there’s obviously an underlying issue,” she admitted. Katie has allegedly undergone 17 breast augmentations and six facelifts.

Her trip abroad for surgery comes amid a sad family rift with her daughter Princess Andre. Katie had claimed she was banned from attending her daughter’s 18th birthday part as it was being filmed for her new ITV2 documentary series.

Speaking on her podcast, Katie claimed: “Princess was like ‘I’m having a party’. And I wasn’t invited because it was for ‘filming’. The fact is there’s stuff my daughter is doing and I’m not allowed to be seen at any of it.”

However, sources told the Mirror that Katie had in fact swerved a meet-up with Princess on her 18th birthday so she could carry on partying abroad instead.

They said the 18-year-old had arranged to see her mum on the morning of her birthday in June in London, but Katie failed to appear. A source said: “It was all in the diary but then Katie claimed she couldn’t make it as she was abroad. It was disappointing.

“For Katie to then say she was banned from the afternoon’s filmed party when she was the no-show in the morning is just beyond belief.”

Reps Begin Probe Of ₦1.06trn NG-CARES Social Intervention Programme

The House of Representatives Committee on NG-CARES, on Wednesday, began an investigation into the implementation of the $696 million (₦1.06trillion) Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) social intervention programme of the Federal Government.

The Chairman of the committee, Abubakar Kusada, who disclosed this at a briefing in Abuja after the committee meeting on Wednesday said the investigation became inevitable since the masses were not feeling the impact of the palliatives and safety nets despite the government fulfilling its funding obligations and providing the guidelines, and the operational arrangements for the effective implementation of NG-CARES.

“A total of $696 million or ₦1.06 trillion has been released as social intervention, safety nets, and palliatives, to Nigerians in the 36 states and the FCT, through the various delivery platforms.

“It is therefore most surprising that the effect of these palliatives is not being felt by the target vulnerable groups in Nigeria after the government has committed so many resources to this purpose through the states.

“There is still a loud cry of government neglect of the plight of Nigerians enduring the brunt of economic reforms,” Kusada said at the briefing.

He disclosed that the House Committee on NG-CARES, in exercise of its powers under sections 88 and 89 of the Constitution, had resolved to commence immediate and full investigation of the NG-CARES programme to unravel the disconnect and ascertain the propriety of expenditure of the huge sums provided by the government for the administration of social welfare.

The lawmaker said, “The envisaged investigation should provide answers to the following nagging questions that create the disconnect between cause and effect: Were the funds embezzled? Were the funds misappropriated or diverted to serve other purposes in the state?

“Did the utilisation of the funds create enough value for money (VFM). In other words, was there an undue inflation of contracts?

“Can the integrity and fairness of the procurement process stand scrutiny? In other words, did the contract procurement follow due process?

“Was the distribution of notional amounts fairly done? Why did some states manage to get more than the attributable notional amounts?”

Lamenting the state of affairs, Kusada added, “Several states have claimed billions for social transfer. These beneficiaries are Nigerians who can be reached. If fake names have been used to claim social transfer, we will say so.

“States have collected billions for agric inputs and services, for labour-intensive agric infrastructure, for procurement of agric assets, and development and upgrading of wet markets and storage facilities.

“If we verify these claims, we will also disclose the impact they have had on food supply, food prices, and the plight of ordinary Nigerians. If we are unable to verify the claims, we will name and shame the affected states and insist that the right thing be done.

“If the funds have been diverted, the affected states should restore the funds and utilise them properly. If there has been a gross mismanagement of funds, the people will know that the funds for palliatives have been misused, and who to hold responsible.

Coronation Street as recast a beloved character after just one year on screen, with the fourth star now taking on the role. The ITV soap has rejigged its cast as a new actor will appear on the Cobbles very soon.

The character has been part of the ITV show for eight years, but will now be taken on by a new actor. Harry Platt, who is the son of Sarah Barlow, had been played by Carter J Murphy.

He took on the part of actress Tina O’Brien’s child, having filled in from twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes. It comes as a former Coronation Street resident is sentenced to four years in prison offscreen.

However, Carter’s departure from the soap comes with a good reason. He has landed a huge role in Matilda the Musical and could no longer carry on with his commitments on Corrie.

Carter has decided to step away from his role for a year, with a new actor called Josh filling in for him. He will make his debut on the Cobbles in the coming weeks, according to the Sun.

Character Harry was born in 2016 following Sarah’s fling with baddie Callum Logan, played by Sean Ward. Twins Freddie and Isaac played the role from 2017 to last year.

It wasn’t Carter’s first taste of the big screen thanks to landing the role of a young Robbie Williams in his upcoming movie Better Man. Speaking to press about Carter joining the soap, Jack P Shepherd said: “They’ve just recast the lad who plays Harry.

“Carter is very, very confident.” He made his debut on screens in December last year. Just last month, Corrie saw a new actress step into a role following the recasting of a character.

Grace Ashcroft-Gardiner stepped into the shoes of Lily Platt on the beloved ITV soap. The young actress couldn’t contain her joy as she announced her new gig to her followers, taking over from Brooke Malonie who portrayed Lily since 2016.

Grace said: “I am so excited to share my news that I have joined the cast of Coronation Street playing the role of Lily Platt.” She went on to thank the Stagebox team for their pivotal role in her journey.

The young star added: “It’s been a brilliant few months since my first audition, which wouldn’t have happened without the fantastic Stagebox team (who I can’t thank enough! ).

“The whole Corrie team, the cast and crew have been absolutely amazing, I couldn’t have asked for any more support during my first few weeks filming on the cobbles.”

Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy Swain, commented: “Smashing it! ! I love the sass you give her.” Jack P Shepherd, who plays her on-screen father David Platt, chimed in: “Yay! Great to have part of the family Grace.”

Grace became the sixth actress to step into the shoes of Lily since the character’s introduction in 2013.

What can Celtic learn from Aberdeen’s Almaty trip?

Google Maps

It is the Champions League trip Celtic had probably hoped to avoid.

A short hop to Slovakia and back would have been easier – logistically, at least – than a round-trip of 7,000 miles to Kazakhstan.

But Kairat Almaty upset the odds on Tuesday to beat Slovan Bratislava on penalties and set up a play-off with Celtic.

The first leg is in Glasgow next Wednesday but the return, six days later, is about 360 miles from the Dzungarian Gate border crossing into China.

The quickest flight time from London to Almaty is more than eight hours. So when Celtic charter their plane, players and staff will be able to get through about four films at least. And that is just the outward journey.

Celtic will be schlepping further east than Kabul in the week leading up to the first derby of the season at Ibrox.

Tony Bennett’s plane, Tallinn & steak dinners

Should they need some advice, Aberdeen made the same journey on Europa League qualifying duty in 2015.

And the Scotland men’s national team also travelled to Kazakhstan in 2019, an ill-fated trip on which Alex McLeish’s side lost 3-0.

Speak to those at the Scottish FA about it and they make the logistics sound simple. “You fly there and back in a long-range Airbus or Boeing,” one said.

The plane Aberdeen hired a decade ago might as well have had ‘fly me to the moon’ branded along the fuselage.

It was – as a club insider recalled – different from the type they had used before for European away trips. Smaller, more luxurious.

“I believe it was used by the singer Tony Bennett and other celebrities,” they said.

It did not go too well on the football side, though, Aberdeen losing 2-1 away before a 1-1 draw at Pittodrie.

But that was not for a lack of attention to detail from then manager Derek McInnes and assistant Tony Docherty.

The Aberdeen squad – who stopped in Estonia on the way out and Turkey on the way back – had a steak dinner before flying out late on the Tuesday for a Thursday game.

The idea was that they could sleep on the plane, rather than travelling during the day, and they also all stayed on UK time to be better equipped to handle their subsequent league game a few days later.

What can history tell us about Kazakh trips?

Rodgers and Celtic’s support staff will already have a plan in place for Kazakhstan. Not least given it is a trip which will go a long way to defining their season.

They cannot leave anything to chance when it comes to getting in and out of Almaty as quickly and as safely as possible, while giving the players the optimal conditions to prepare for and recover from the gruelling trip.

It is expected to be about 30C when Celtic visit, though that is likely to drop to the mid-20s around kick-off time.

Celtic’s record against Kazakh opposition is good, though the club still await their first win in the former Soviet republic.

They have never played Almaty before but have made the journey to Kazakhstan three times in the past decade or so.

Shakhter Karagandy were beaten 3-2 on aggregate after a memorable night at Parkhead, featuring a late winner from James Forrest.

Rodgers was in his first spell at the club when Celtic knocked Astana out of Europe in consecutive seasons.

The Northern Irishman will not want the copybook to be blotted now, for all sorts of reasons.

Harvey Weinstein, 73, set for third trial this year after mistrial on rape charge

Disgraced media mogul Harvey Weinstein is set for a third trial in New York after a mistrial in June as jury members couldn’t reach a decision

Harvey Weinstein is set to face trial for a third time later this year. It comes after the disgraced media mogul was convicted in June of sexually assaulting one woman.

He was also acquitted of assaulting another by a jury who could not reach a verdict in a third case. Now, the judge wants another retrial to be held this year.

On Wednesday, New York Judge Curtis Farber said he wants the trial to take place before the end of the year after a jury was unable to come to a verdict on a rape charge that accused Weinstein of sexually assaulting former actress Jessica Mann.

Weinstein, 73, denies sexually assaulting or raping anyone.

Harvey Weinstein is set for a third trial

The jury in June reached a split verdict in the second of the fallen star’s New York trials. Of three charges from three different women, only one resulted in a criminal conviction. Another resulted in an acquittal, and the third, the accusation from Jessica Mann, ended in a mistrial as jury members couldn’t reach a decision.

Now, however, that mistrial might see a different ending with the latest decision. The first New York trial against Weinstein occurred in 2020. At that time, a jury returned a guilty verdict.

However, his team were successful in having the conviction overturned, which resulted in a retrial.

The sentencing for Weinstein’s conviction, according to the judge, is set for September 30. “We continue to fight,” Jennifer Bonjean, Weinstein’s attorney said, according to The New York Times. “This doesn’t change the strength of the appeal, which is strong and compelling. We will continue to fight till the bitter end.”

Following the verdict in June, Mann told the Mirror in a statement, “I would never lie about rape or use something so traumatic to hurt someone. Rape can happen in relationships – and in dynamics where power and manipulation control the narrative.

“Some victims survive by appeasing, and many carry deep empathy, even for their abusers. That’s part of the trap.

“No matter the ‘power’ I gained, I never used it to harm him. I’ve advocated for men, studied consent law to protect both victims and the wrongly accused, and kept the fight where it belongs: in the courtroom. I never even sued him civilly when I could have been awarded damages. I waived liability because I only ask for accountability.“Even in my dynamic with Harvey – the lack of a ‘seductress’ is under-discussed and the evidence that usually follows a person with those intentions. The smear campaign built around me is hollow.

“The evidence doesn’t exist because the propaganda isn’t real. It’s the nuances I fight to have heard while I’m objected at when answering in the courtroom.“Coming forward cost me everything. My privacy, my safety. I laid bare my trauma, my shame – everything I’d tried to bury just to keep living. Still, I stood up and told the truth. Again and again.”
