Meghan Markle is celebrating her 44th birthday today, and as expected, she has been celebrating over the weekend with her tight-knit family in California.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with Prince Archie, were spotted on a beach just 10 minutes away from their Montecito home to cheer on Archie as he took part in one of his favourite hobbies: surfing.

The six-year-old was having lessons when parents gathered to watch, and Harry and Meghan were seen chatting to other mums and dads, smiling broadly as they cheered Archie on as he took to the waves. It comes after Donald Trump accused of ‘throwing shade’ at Prince Harry and Meghan with cryptic quip.

“Harry and Meghan were part of a group of parents, they were very down to earth,” a source told HELLO! “They were so proud of Archie. It was cute to watch – a special family time.”

In true California style, Archie first fell in love with surfing last year, when he tagged along with his father Prince Harry to hit the waves alongside surfing professional Raimana Van Bastolaer.

However, while Harry and Meghan have celebrated her milestone birthday as a family, royal expert Jennie Bond believes that the Sussexes should not hold their breath for birthday wishes from the royal family.

The former BBC royal correspondent told the Mirror : “I definitely thought that being 44 was a bit of a non-descript birthday, not particularly worthy of a special celebration. But I’m sure that Harry will want to make a fuss of his wife on her special day.

He still seems to be in love with Meghan, and he may plan a romantic dinner or a beach party with friends and lots of children to celebrate their happy families in California. Perhaps a yoga sunrise session would help to set the day up a little better!

“I don’t think Meghan should hold her breath for birthday messages from the Royal family, though it may well be that Princess Eugenie – and possibly Beatrice— will send a present or a card.”

While also celebrating her 44th birthday, Meghan is also preparing for the launch of a new wine with her lifestyle brand As Ever, as she teased on Instagram last week.

A new vintage of her rosé wine will be available over the next few days, according to the brand’s Instagram post.

The announcement was shared to the brand’s Instagram page alongside a picture of the new tipple being poured on a beach, as the caption read: “Oh, how we love seeing the world through rose colored glasses. Rosé colored glasses? Perhaps even better. Our new vintage of As Ever’s beloved rosé is available next week.”

Donald Trump’s six weird words after learning Sydney Sweeney is a Republican

Donald Trump was informed that Sydney Sweeney, who created controversy with a pair of jeans ads, is a registered Republican, which surprised him and caused him to make an odd statement.

While on the runway in Pennsylvania on Sunday evening, Donald Trump stopped to answer questions from reporters who were gathered there. One informed the US president that actress Sydney Sweeney is a Republican.

His somewhat strange six word reply appeared to reveal that he was unaware that the Euphoria star, whose recent jeans campaign has sparked furious backlash over its ‘eugenics-coded’ messaging, has political leanings close to his own.

“I’m glad you told me that,” he replied to the reporter before adding that the nugget of information certainly swayed his opinion on the American Eagle advert. It comes after Donald Trump’s mental state ‘clear to see’ as lawmakers urged to ‘act now’

Trump was about to board Air Force One before departing from Allentown to return to Washington. He was clearly surprised when he learned that Sydney, 27, was a registered Republican and said to reporters: “Oh, I love her ad. How many Republicans are there would surprise you. I wouldn’t have known that, but I’m glad you told me. I think Sydney Sweeney’s ad is fantastic if she’s a registered Republican. “

According to the New York Post, which claimed to have viewed public voter records, the White Lotus actress was registered with the Republican Party of Florida in Monroe County since June 2024. She hasn’t publicly supported Trump, though.

The blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty wears a variety of denim outfits in her most recent Fall 2025 America Eagle jeans campaign. My genes are blue, she claimed in the advertisement, “Genes are passed down from parent to offspring, frequently determining traits from personality to eye color to hair color. The voiceover then states, “Sydney Sweeney has great genes. The word “genes” is replaced with “jeans” in American Eagle’s billboard ads in the US.

Some people claimed the ad supports the theory of eugenics, which states that humans can be improved through selective breeding, and the ad sparked a furious backlash. Although the ideology is now widely dissented and supported by science, it laid the groundwork for how society defines beauty and value.

On social media fans were divided, with some outraged at the message they believed it was promoting. One wrote: “The Sydney Sweeney American Eagle ad campaign is just modern day Nazi propaganda. Like it’s wild how blatant it is. Things are weird right now, man.”

Another said, “This advertisement is a dog whistle to the racists out there, confirming their way of thinking and way of life is correct in the extremely conservative climate we are in today, where right-wing, white nationalism, and patriotism are growing.” “

One X user wrote, “The backlash to Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle ad campaign is just insane,” in opposition to others. You can like the ad, my God, but the content is not anti-racist. Another raged: “The claim that Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle commercial is pro-eugenics due to a “good genes/jeans” pun is genuinely unsupported. It’s a denim campaign, not a manifesto. Not all blondes with blue eyes are Nazis. Some of you require a nap and a history book. “

Sydney’s defense was also defended by the White House. She was described as an “all-American beautiful woman,” according to Vice President JD Vance. This warped, moronic, and dense liberal thinking is a significant factor in why Americans voted in 2024, according to Steven Cheung, president of Trump. They’re sick of hearing this lies. He added that the ad’s response was “cancel culture run amok.” “

Last Friday American Eagle defended the star and its campaign. It posted on Instagram: “‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story.” It added: “We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.”

Sources close to the company told TMZ that the online backlash is “absurd”. An insider claimed that independent polling discovered 71% of the people found the ad to be “appealing”. They added: “This is yet another example of how social media is just not reflective of real life. The absurd response from some corners of the internet is absolutely not reflective of how American Eagle’s customers feel.

Palestinian women on hunger strike to demand body of slain activist

Awdah Hathaleen, a Palestinian activist and English teacher, was shot dead last week in the village of Umm al-Kheir, south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, killing more than 60 Palestinian women.

The collective action, which started on Thursday, resulted in the receipt of two women’s medical care.

The group is requesting the body of the 31-year-old community leader who co-directed the documentary No Other Land, which won an Oscar this year, be released without condition. No more than 15 people were present at the village’s overnight burial ceremony, which was ordered by Israeli police.

The protesters also demand the release of seven Umm al-Kheir residents who have been detained by Israeli forces and are still undergoing administrative detention, a quasi-judicial procedure where Palestinians are detained without charge or trial.

Umm al-Kheir belongs to Masafer Yatta, a group of Palestinian hamlets on the southern hills of Hebron, where residents have fought for decades to remain in their homes since Israel designated the area as an Israeli “firing” or training area.

Women between the ages of 13 and 70 were taking part in the hunger strike, according to Iman Hathaleen, Awdah’s cousin. She told Al Jazeera, “I am starving and breastfeeding right now as I’m talking.” We’ll carry on until the body is released so that we can honor him according to Islamic customs. According to our religion, we must grieve him.

Awdah was taken by ambulance to Beer Sheva’s Soroka Hospital on July 28 and later declared dead. An Israeli settler had shot him. The police took his body for an autopsy at the Jaffa-based Abu Kabir National Institute of Forensic Medicine on Wednesday. The family then agreed to stringent terms for the funeral and burial, and they then refused to return the body.

A “trick to break their spirit,” they say.

Israeli policy of withholding a Palestinian’s body was a common practice, according to Fathi Nimer, a researcher at the Al-Shabaka think tank. There are hundreds of Palestinians whose bodies are used as bargaining chips by their families to stop any form of activism, resistance, or attempt to overthrow the spirit of resistance, Nimer told Al Jazeera.

This is a tactic to break the village’s spirit because “Awdah was very loved in the village,” he continued.

Yinon Levi, the Israeli settler accused of firing the deadly shots, was put on house arrest for a while in the meantime. Awdah, who was shot in the chest by Levi, was captured on a video that local activists shot him.

On Monday, residents of Umm al-Kheir documented Levi’s return. He was seen overseeing bulldozing work alongside army officers at the nearby settlement in Carmel, according to images shared on social media sites.

Levi is one of several Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank who was previously subject to Israeli law under the former US President Joe Biden’s blatant use of violence against Palestinians.

In an executive order issued shortly after taking office for a second term in January, US President Donald Trump reversed those sanctions. However, Levi is still subject to sanctions from the UK and the European Union.

According to Nimer, individual sanctions have little effect on settler violence and the expansion of Israel’s illegal settlements. There needs to be real international action to sanction Israel and put an end to any of this behavior, he said. It’s not just individuals.

A “continued trauma”

Levi’s return, according to Iman, Awdah’s cousin, raises concerns for the safety of her family. We’re concerned that he’s back and capable of doing this again, and perhaps he’ll shoot someone else, she told Al Jazeera. An Israeli bulldozer struck Suleiman Hathaleen, her father, in 2022, killing him.

The hunger strike was a desperate plea for a community that had lost all hope of obtaining justice through legal means, according to Oneg Ben Dror, a Jaffa-based activist and friend of the Hathaleen family.

The women claim that returning the body is only a last resort because they believe it is their way of protesting. The community needs the opportunity to start grieving and beginning to recover from this horrible crime.

She added that Levi and other settlers were a “continuous trauma and nightmare” for both his wife, who has been widowed while taking care of three young children, in Umm al-Kheir.

On Sunday, dozens of left-wing Israeli and international activists marched in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to support the demands made by the hunger strikers. During the demonstrations, four people were detained.

Since January, the UN office has reported 757 Israeli-occupied Palestinians, up 13% from the year before, as well as close to 1.000 deaths.

Additionally, hundreds of homes have been destroyed and raids have been carried out across the occupied West Bank. In the town of Qabatiya, south of Jenin, on Monday, Israeli forces killed two Palestinians. Additionally, the Israeli municipality issued a demolition order for Palestinians’ homes in occupied East Jerusalem, Silwan.
