Tensions high as new violence spirals in Syria’s Suwayda despite ceasefire

According to state-run Ekhbariya TV, Druze armed groups have attacked members of Syria’s internal security forces in the rebellious Suwayda region, killing at least one government official and injuring others, and shelling several villages in the southern province.

A security source, who was quoted in Ekhbariya’s report on Sunday, claimed that the armed groups had violated the ceasefire that had been reached in the region’s overwhelmingly Druze region, where sectarian bloodshed claimed hundreds of lives last month.

The Syrian government stated in a statement that “the media and sectarian mobilization campaigns led by the rebel gangs in the city have not ceased over the past period.”

The Syrian state’s efforts and its obligations to our people in Suwayda were thwarted by these gangs, who resorted to violating the ceasefire by staging vicious attacks against internal security forces on numerous fronts and shelling some villages, causing the death and injuries of a number of security personnel.

Four people were killed in the most recent clashes in Suwayda, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, three of whom were local fighters and three of whom were government soldiers.

On July 13, Bedouin tribal fighters and Druze factions tussled in Suwayda.

Israel launched strikes on Syrian troops and bombed the city’s heartland Damascus under the pretext of protecting the Druze, but the bloodshed continued.

The region’s minority population has followers in Syria, Lebanon, and Israel. The communities have long had conflicts over land and other resources, and Suwayda province is primarily a region of Druze descent but also has Bedouin tribes.

Following previous unsuccessful attempts, Syria’s President Ahmed al-Sharaa announced a ceasefire in Suwayda in tandem with the United States’ brokering of a truce. For almost a week, fighting had been raging in Suwayda City and the surrounding towns. Syria established a committee to investigate the clashes, as it had promised to do.

Following a flurry of sectarian violence in the coastal region in March that claimed hundreds of Alawite lives, the Suwayda bloodshed was yet another blow to al-Sharaa’s fledgling government.

In Suwayda, hundreds of Bedouin families were forced to relocate to nearby Deraa after the fighting broke out.

Syria is under new Israeli attack.

Separately, the Israeli military announced on Sunday that it had saturday a raid on targets in southern Syria.

The army said it seized weapons and interrogated a number of people it claimed were involved in local weapons trafficking.

Meanwhile, the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Sunday that five of its members had been killed in an ISIL (ISIS) attack on a checkpoint in Deir Az Zor in eastern Syria on July 31.

The SDF and the US collaborated extensively in Syria during the conflict that ended ISIL in 2019 after the group imposed a caliphate on all of Syria and Iraq.

Middle Eastern, West, and Asia have all been staging attempts by ISIL to resurrect. ISIL seized Deir Az Zor city in 2014, but the Syrian army reclaimed it in 2017.

Four army personnel and three civilians were hurt in an attack by the SDF in the countryside of Manbij on Saturday, according to Syria’s Defense Ministry.

Oasis pay tribute to fan who died after tragic fall from top tier at Wembley Stadium

As witnesses described the “horrific” scene at the band’s sold-out concert in Wembley Stadium as “tragic” tribute to a fan who tragically plunged to his death on Saturday night.

The man, who is in his 40s, is thought to have sat in the stadium’s upper tier when he fell. The man was quickly reached by emergency services, but sadly he was later declared dead.

Oasis have released a statement and expressed their condolences to the tragic victim in a statement following the tragic incident. Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher described the death of a fan as “shocked and saddened” in heartfelt words.

We are shocked and devastated to learn about a fan’s tragic passing last night at the show. The family and friends of the victim are in need of our sincere condolences.

At 10.19pm, the Met Police confirmed officers arrived on scene to report a hurt person toward the end of the band’s reunion show.

The Met has been contacted by any witnesses and concertgoers with information about the tragedy, according to police who stated that officers at Wembley had located the man with “injuries consistent with a fall.”

A concert goer was found with injuries consistent with a fall, according to a Wembley Stadium spokesperson.

“Despite their efforts, the fan very tragically passed away. His family has been informed and is receiving support from specially trained police officers, and we condole our thoughts.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact the police, the police said. The Oasis concert will continue as planned tonight.

A horrified concertgoer posted their account of the tragic incident on Facebook, writing, “Anyone else witness the guy drop from the upper tier last night.

A guy standing next to me slipped on the railing and fell below, as I was in block 511. Was pretty messed up, but I’m still hopeful for him.

A lower-tier concertgoer described witnessing emergency personnel rush to the spot where the fan’s concrete hit after the plunge. I was directly beneath section 211, she wrote.

“At first glance, I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier, but I later realized the bloke was on the concrete.” It was horrifying to watch.

Noel, 58, was forced to control his temper after Oasis’ London fans began to boo him when he inquired if there was anyone in the crowd from Manchester.

Noel sat in front of a crowded crowd while his acoustic guitar was circling his shoulders, but he only saw a select few people who had upset him.

Noel asked the crowd, “Any Mancunians we got in the house? ” while sporting a black t-shirt and a pair of denim jeans. Except for a few people toward the front of the stage, the audience erupted in a roar of cheers in response.

Noel retorts at the culprits in the crowded audience after hearing the boos.

The singer, 58, glared directly at the crowd and said, “What you f****g booing for? You’re here because there are only Mancunians. You’re here because of Manchester, don’t you? Do you want to be us? What are you praising?

After dedicating his next song to “all Mancunians,” he turned his back to the audience and strummed his guitar.

England need 35 to win astonishing final Test

The Kia Oval, Day 4, of the Fifth Rothesay Test, is the fifth one.

India 224 (Nair 57, Atkinson 5-33, Tongue 3-57) &amp, 396 (Jaiswal 118, Tongue 5-125)

England 247 (Crawley 64, Krishna 4-62, Siraj 4-86) &amp, 339-6 (Brook 111, Root 105)

India needs four wickets, and England needs 35 for victory.

After a barely plausible fourth day was halted by rain and bad light, England must now defeat India by 35 more runs with four wickets in hand.

When the final hour of play was completely destroyed by the weather, England made it 339-6 in a scene of incredible tension and in a raucous atmosphere at The Oval.

England’s initial defeat to England was a foreshadowing sultan’s centuries, but an epic finale was delivered by India’s top seamers.

In mid-off, Brook miscued Akash Deep, Jacob Bethell was bowled for a wild hack, and Root was poking him for 105.

With 37 required, Jamie Overton and Jamie Smith from Surrey were playing at home. Chris Woakes prepared to bat after missing since the first day due to a rumored dislocated shoulder.

As Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna called in one last effort, Smith and Overton struggled to lay bat on ball. The indicator barely moved.

When the umpires decided the light wasn’t sufficient, Overton had just survived a review for being caught behind Krishna.

Super Sunday provides a crucial final day.

Perhaps it’s only fitting that this unforgettable series is decided on the final day, after seven weeks of drama, needle, and outstanding cricket.

This Test should already be won, in the opinion of both sides. One of the most incredible sports you could ever imagine, one that swung this way and that, and ended with neither side truly holding an advantage, makes it possible that it is not.

Root and Brook’s counter-attacking partnership of 195 kept England fans dancing as they approached each milestone. The Yorkshiremen appeared to have set up their second-best run chase of all time and the second-best run chase of any team on this ground.

India’s roaring back speaks volumes about their spirit, the tireless work of their seamers, and the enthusiasm of their wonderful supporters. The touring players repeatedly shook their heads and kissed the badge on their shirts while looking at their fans.

The conclusion of the game is more likely to benefit England. India appeared to have the ability to take a wicket with every ball before the stoppage. However, a night off gives the visiting seamers the chance to get up early on Monday morning, with a brand-new ball in hand just over four overs away.

The best of Yorkshire’s approach to England

Ben Duckett looked a key player for England overnight, leading only to score 54 against Krishna. 102 – 3 Olivia Pope left England as she did everything. India was on course.

Brook, however, had the audacity and ability to defend. Root is a master at leading Test chases, having survived a difficult lbw review from Krishna on three. They first halted India’s momentum before acing a weary attack in better batting conditions than any other time of the match.

Brook only had eight of his 18 balls before a pulled four and lofted an off-side six off Akash Deep brought it to life. A crucial chance was presented to Brook in the following over, which was 19-over. Krishna is at the top of the world, Siraj is beneath, and time is still in the background. Siraj jumped onto the rope after taking the catch.

Root played his signature handsome drives while Brook frequently heaved through the on side. For Brook’s 91-ball century, which was edged by spinner Washington Sundar, the crowd resurrected.

Brook lost his bat and wicket during a dance at Deep, and Root went to tea on 98. The players resurrected in the sunshine and roared back to where they had at his 39th Test hundred. Root celebrated by putting on one of Thorpe’s signature white headbands and gazing at the sky during a match dedicated to Graham Thorpe’s life.

After being tortured for his five of 31 balls, Bethell eventually tried to bowl Krishna while he was a cricket player for his first home test.

Awesome India creates gripping conclusion

Perhaps the fans’ cheers during what turned out to be the final moments will remain a constant memory of this heart-stopping day.

Since India finished third overall in this Test without a seamer, Siraj, Krishna, and Deep had to do almost all of the bowling. Uncertainty surrounds their determination to put England under such great pressure, but they were undoubtedly motivated by the conviction of their supporters.

The ball remained stationary for the majority of day four, unlike it had throughout the previous three days. With the exception of a few drops of low bounce, the pitch appeared flat. Siraj and Krishna suddenly started talking to the old ball after tea.

Smith and Overton hid from the world. Every delivery had the potential to yield a wicket. The body was either struck or missed by the England batters. Twenty-seven balls of play and two runs, including a leg bye, were combined by the seventh-wicket duo.

Umpire Kumar Dharmasena had plenty of time to get twitchy about the light during the review of the catch behind off Overton. After a heavy shower, the players were advised to leave before the 18:42 BST cutoff.

What they said, “We are in for a cracker,”

Joe Root, an England batter, told BBC Test Match Special, “It is quite fitting for how the rest of the series has ended. This Test is the exact same as it has flowed and ebbed all the way through. Tomorrow will be a cracker for us. It will be a fantastic finish.

In a tribute to Graham Thorpe, he writes, “I wish I had it in my pocket right away. At tea, I placed it there. He has had a significant impact on the game as a player, coach, mentor, and friend in this country.

Dina Asher-Smith and Zharnel Hughes broke competition records in claiming 200m victories at the UK Athletics Championships in Birmingham.

Former world champion Asher-Smith edged the women’s race in a dramatic photo finish, holding off 100m winner Amy Hunt to triumph in 22.14 seconds.

Hughes completed the men’s sprint double as he clocked 19.90 to add to his 100m victory on Saturday.

Athletes needed to achieve a top-two finish, and have met the World Athletics entry standard, to be assured of a place in the squad, to be announced on 27 August.

Olympic 1500m medallist Georgia Hunter Bell won the 800m final to secure a spot in Tokyo, where she could face training partner and Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson.

Max Burgin claimed a dominant win in the men’s 800m, while title favourites Charlie Dobson and Amber Anning earned 400m golds.

World 1500m champion Josh Kerr, already assured of a place in the squad in that event, had time to wave to the crowd in the closing stages of a comfortable 5,000m win.

‘I can go a lot faster’

After dedicating his 100m victory to his aunt, whose funeral he had to miss to be present at the trials, Hughes returned to the track to overpower his rivals and once again assert himself as the UK’s dominant male sprinter.

The British record holder in the 100m and 200m, Hughes followed up his wind-assisted sub-10 on Saturday by breaking Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake’s 200m championship record of 20.05.

After finishing clear of Jona Efoloko (20.42) and Ethan Wiltshire (20.51), world 100m bronze medallist Hughes said: “It felt fantastic. I can go a lot faster.

“My coach will get me much sharper. There’s still more than a month to go.”

Asher-Smith, who chose not to contest the 100m, ran a season’s best to capture the women’s 200m title despite being chased down by the fast-finishing Hunt.

“It was an excellent race. I didn’t know who had got it. The ladies ran amazingly and it bodes well for the relay,” Asher-Smith said.

“I’m in great shape, it was a great run and there are still a few things I can tweak, so I’m happy.”

Hunter Bell and Burgin shine

Olympic 1500m bronze medallist Hunter Bell said she has not decided which event she will focus on at the Worlds, after moving clear of Jemma Reekie on the home straight to win in one minute 59.53 seconds.

“It’s a good problem to have. I have a lot of thinking to do,” said Hunter Bell, who trains with Hodgkinson under coaches Trevor Painter and Jenny Meadows.

Burgin, a record-breaking junior, is continuing to build momentum after years of setbacks and led from the start to win comfortably in 1:43.92.

In the absence of Olympic and world 400m silver medallist Matthew Hudson-Smith, Dobson (45.36) was unmatched, while world indoor champion Anning (50.53) held off Victoria Ohuruogu.

Lake claimed her 10th consecutive national title in the women’s high jump with a first-time clearance of 1.87m, before going on to clear 1.90m, while Sawyers continued her return from injury by leaping 6.82m to regain the women’s long jump title.

Katarina Johnson-Thompson continued her heptathlon preparation by competing in the javelin and shot put on day two, having contested the 100m hurdles on Saturday.

The two-time world champion threw a season’s best 41.98m in a javelin final won by Bekah Walton (58.44m), and 12.43m in the shot put, won by Adele Nicoll (17.17m).

Lina Nielsen retained her women’s 400m hurdles title in 55.39, with Tyri Donovan winning the men’s title in 49.18.

Tade Ojora triumphed in the men’s 110m hurdles in 13.34, Phil Norman retained the men’s 3000m steeplechase title in 8:40.47, and Cam Corbishley and Hannah Hopper won the men’s and women’s 5,000m race walks respectively.

Jake Norris (men’s hammer), Zara Obamakinwa (women’s discus), Archie Yeo (men’s triple jump) and Owen Heard (men’s pole vault) were also among the winners.

Sophie Hahn claimed victory in the women’s 100m ambulant in 12.76.

Kieran O’Hara won the men’s 1500m ambulant in 4:03.70, with Kyle Brotherton winning the wheelchair event in 3:56.16.

Jack Osbourne’s siblings from sister that fled family home to adopted brother

As the world mourns the passing of his famous father, Jack Osbourne is set to make another appearance on television this weekend.

The Osbourne family is mourning the loss of their beloved patriarch, rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, who sadly passed away at 76 on 22 July.

Jack, Ozzy’s youngest son, will make a comeback to television as they deal with their grief as he competes in the fifth season of ITV’s Cooking with the Stars, a celebrity cooking program.

The programme, hosted by Emma Willis and Tom Allen, was pre-recorded before Ozzy’s untimely death. Jack will be competing against a host of famous faces including Love Island’s Ekin-Su, EastEnders’ Natalie Cassidy and former footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The celebrities are assigned to a culinary expert to help them through each round, but those with the lowest scores are given the opportunity to compete against their mentors, who are confined to the sidelines.

In a cruel twist, the mentors of those in the bottom two will have to endure a blind taste test to decide who progresses to the next round, potentially sending their own protege packing. Jack, a familiar face on television, is set to appear on the show this Sunday, 3rd August, at 8pm on ITV1, reports the Express.

The rockstar has six children throughout his life, despite the best efforts of many, including Kelly, who is well known as his sister from MTV’s At Home with the Osbournes.

The Black Sabbath icon had previously been married before Sharon and Ozzy said, “I do.” Before they tied the knot and welcomed two biological children, Jessica, 53, and Louis, 50, he met his first wife Thelma Riley in a Birmingham nightclub.

When Thelma met the lead singer, Elliot, age 5, from a previous relationship, she was already a mother. Elliot would later be adopted and raised by Ozzy.

The three children’s fond childhood memories of their daredevil father are unfavorable. When Ozzy is questioned about Louis and Jessica’s birthdays in a 2011 documentary, he forgets the day of each of their births.

In the same episode, Louis revealed details about growing up with Ozzy: “When he was around and he wasn’t [drunk], he was a great father. That was actually a little uncommon. I just recall him being drunk, random s**t, driving cars across fields, and stuff like that.

He acknowledged in the documentary that “it’s not good for family life, really.” I don’t recall being snorted or taken in a bath by his older sister, Jessica, or anything similar. Never on a sports day, school trip, or parents’ evening, I wouldn’t say he was there for us. No, he wasn’t like that.

Ozzy and Thelma divorced in 1982, and he married Sharon, his manager at the time.

Aimee and Kelly welcomed their second daughter Kelly on October 27, 1984, and their first child was born on September 2, 1983, one and a half months later. On November 8, 1985, they gave birth to their youngest child, Jack.

Whilst many fans know two of Sharon and Ozzy’s offspring – Jack and Kelly – Aimee chose to stay out of the spotlight when the former X Factor judge decided to allow MTV’s cameras into their home. Refusing to participate in filming, she left the family residence in the early 2000s to pursue her own musical career, performing under her initials ARO.

She questioned her decision to leave the Independent in a previous interview. She told the magazine, “I still felt like I was trying to figure out who I was in the chaos of my family life, so why on earth would I want that portrayed on television?” I also wanted to safeguard my siblings, my parents, and myself. They had a lot of impressions, but they were very young.

In a 2008 interview with the same publication, Aimee defended her decision: “I’m not some weirdo depressed daughter that’s afraid of the world and locks herself in her room all day. I just didn’t choose to do the show. I want to be a singer, and I felt if I’d stayed with the Osbournes and done the whole thing I would have been typecast right away.

Sharon and I certainly had difficult conversations over disagreements. My private life is very important to me because I’m more reserved. The two daughters of Sharon were actually separated from one another in 2021 when it became known. On the Dax Shepard podcast, Kelly discussed her relationship with Aimee and said, “We don’t talk. Simply put, we are very different. She and I have two disagreements.

Aimee and Jack’s younger brother Jack co-own Osbourne Media, which they both co-own, so it seems like they have a much stronger bond than the two sisters, despite the tension between them.
