According to public broadcaster NHK, four workers in Japan perished after falling into a manhole close to Tokyo while examining sewage pipes, according to the NHK news agency.
The four men, all in their 50s, and other coworkers were examining a sewage pipe in the city of Gyoda in Saitama Prefecture, north of the Japanese capital, as NHK reported on Sunday.
After a significant road cave-in in January, city officials claim the workers were performing an urgent inspection of sewage pipes.
According to NHK, one of the workers fell down the manhole while the other three of his coworkers were attempting to save him, according to police.
The manhole’s diameter is 60 cm (24 in) and its depth is more than 10 meters (33 ft) according to police.
The incident was also confirmed by the local fire department, according to the AFP news agency.
Numerous emergency and rescue personnel were spotted close to the manhole in video clips released by NHK.
The department reported that rescuers discovered a leak from the manhole containing hydrogen sulfide, a gas that is toxic when high levels are present.
However, city officials refrained from identifying the origin of the initial fall.
It’s too early to discuss our responsibility, a Gyoda city official told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity, because the details of the accident are still unknown.
According to local media reports, the four workers were found and taken to a hospital where they were later declared dead.
The inspection’s site had about 10 workers on hand to clean the pipes if necessary of sludge and wastewater.

She continued: “I kicked everybody out of the party, including his mum and dad. They went back to Ireland and his dad said, ‘He doesn’t get it from me’. I just remember that as being quite a weird thing to say.”

The couple started dating in the middle of the 2000s, and they welcomed their second child, Hero, in 2011 and their first, Ava, in 2007. They got married in 2011, but their union ended just six months later, and the divorce was finalized in 2013.

Prior to this, Myleene has previously discussed the legal issues involving her ex-husband. He was reportedly detained at one point in connection with charges of heroin possession and distribution.
Myleene revealed Graham had jumped bail after being detained at the age of 17 for heroin possession in his native Dublin in a 2012 interview with The Standard.

They weren’t having sex, Myleene said in the podcast, “but they were unzipping each other.”
She described how she felt about the unnamed lover who had been separated from her ex-husband as a result as: “I’ve made peace with that situation now, but it’s been very difficult to see their life for a long time.
Not that I would want that in a family, I suppose… I don’t know if I’m conflicted. My life literally literally literally splintered very publicly, and they’ve managed to maintain a family brand as a result. For a long time, it felt so challenging.
Wedding
Within six months, the marriage allegedly ended. She felt betrayed by Quinn’s secret real estate purchase and refusal to consent to a prenuptial agreement.
We had the largest row, she said, as she put it. I had questioned why he wouldn’t sign the marriage. I asked again the night before our wedding… He actually owned a secret house, which he had already purchased.
The relationship was emotionally and financially draining, and the divorce came afterward. As a single parent for 12 years, Myleene said, “All I can tell you is that I’ve raised my children on my own, financially, and single-handedly.”
My life literally literally just broke apart very publicly, according to Myleene, and they have managed to maintain a family brand as a result.
She recalled their wedding as the “most miserable” time, and she cried the entire reception.

The royal expert told the Mirror that despite the joyous news of the baby girl’s birth, the Duke and Duchess could be caught in the middle of the warring brothers if they are considering either prince for a role as godfather.
Many of William and Harry’s friends feel forced to take sides, Jennie said, just like with a marriage break-up. The Duke of Westminster had to navigate a difficult path because Hugh had close ties to both William and Harry.
“And it seems he has largely sided with William, (at least in public). It was William who was invited to the big wedding, he was an usher, and William who stood alongside Hugh and his new wife Olivia cheering on Aston Villa in their exciting Champions League quarter final.”
According to Jennie, given the couple’s long history with William, “There is a likely royal godfather for the couple’s newborn daughter.” It seems likely that William will be asked because there is already a lot of “cross pollination” between the families regarding godparents.
According to Jennie, William’s appointment as the child’s godfather is “the price Harry has to pay” for leaving the firm.
Harry’s decision to choose William to be the baby’s godfather would likely cause him to cry, according to Jennie, but the Grosvenors would have made it easier because of Harry’s current, and possibly ongoing, relationship with the Firm.
The fact that Harry lives so far away and has no chance of ever moving back to the UK, Jennie said, makes these awkward decisions slightly easier. And that’s not the best way to perform any godparenting responsibilities.
“It makes sense that Harry would accept that William would be chosen as the godfather instead of him. However, for him to see his ex-familiar friends continue to live independently while William enjoys their close friendship’s warmth and fun must still be sad. However, he must pay a price for making such reprehensible allegations and causing such a bitter rift with his family.
Last week, the Duke and Duchess of Westminster gave birth to their daughter, Cosima Florence Grosvenor.
