Usyk destroys Dubois to reclaim undisputed crown

Queensberry

By defeating Daniel Dubois in round five, Oleksandr Usyk became a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, further cementing his position as one of boxing’s greats.

In front of 90,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium, the Ukrainian staged a masterclass to sabotage Dubois’ hopes of becoming the first Briton to bring the division together in the four-belt era.

In the fifth, Usyk, 38, put Dubois in danger, but he was unable to turn around and beat the count the following time.

Dubois was also stopped by him in 2023, which would increase his unbeaten professional streak to 24 victories.

“I’m sorry]Dubois], it’s sport. My people wished this victory, Usyk told DAZN.

Nothing comes next,” the message. It’s sufficient. Next, I’d like to unwind. I want to be at peace right now, my wife, my kids. I want to take a two- or three-month break.

Dubois, who defeated Anthony Joshua to win the IBF title in September, had a third straight defeat in 25 professional matches, with each loss coming within the reach of the finish line.

Usyk reclaimed the IBF belt, which he had taken away from him just weeks after the division’s unification in 2023, and added it to his WBA (Super), WBO, and WBC belts.

I gave everything I had, so I have to give credit to him for the performance. I’ll be back, Dubois told DAZN, “Take no credit from that man, I’ll be back.”

Usyk is still the heavyweight champion.

The legendary boxing stars Roy Jones Jr. and Frank Bruno were present at the event’s significance.

Joseph Parker, the interim heavyweight champion, was also keeping an eye on the proceedings as he searched for a date with the next champion.

After Dubois had also been cheered to the ring, Usyk, who has since called the UK his second home, received a warm welcome.

With a counter left in each of the opening two rounds, Southpaw Usyk had his younger foe looking a little shaky in the second round.

Dubois consulted his father Stan between rounds for advice, but he still had trouble finding the 2012 Olympic gold medalist.

In the fifth, Usyk unloaded him and sent him crashing to the ground with a sharp left.

Dubois showed incredible spirit in beating the count, but the proof was already in the pudding.

Dubois left with a second reconstruction project.

Dubois is in a difficult position and will need another rebuild after a third career defeat.

The 27-year-old has not defeated a champion to win a world title; he first defended his title against Joshua after winning the interim IBF title.

Dubois regained his confidence after his most recent defeat suffered by Usyk, but this defeat will set him back in several ways.

With Agit Kabayel, WBC “Regular” champion Kubrat Pulev, or even Deontay Wilder to choose from, he will have plenty of options.

In contrast, Usyk has the upper hand in the glamour division of boxing and has his choice.

“Tyson Fury might be it.” Derek Chisora and Anthony Joshua, possibly Joseph Parker, are our options, Usyk told DAZN, according to Usyk.

Usyk looked as good as ever despite the concerns that Dubois’ team had regarding his age during fight week.

Ditcheva outclasses Inaba despite hand injury

PFL

Sumiko Inaba won the PFL Champions Series in South Africa by unanimous decision, while Dakota Ditcheva escaped injury and won.

The Manchester fighter’s constant assault on Inaba put her in danger, but she eventually let go in the final round after coming off the bench and telling her corner, “I’ve broken my hand.

As Ditcheva cruised to the final bell and extended her career’s unbeaten start to 15, Inaba was unable to capitalize. She used kicks to keep the American at bay as she extended the final bell.

My left hand, I believe, was injured. I hope you guys enjoyed it, but I believe I’m devastated because I’ve been out for so long before getting injured once more.

The 26-year-old won the MMA world title in November, becoming the first British woman to do so in eight months.

Ditcheva had expressed her frustrations prior to the eight-month layoff, but she now confirmed that she has a new contract with the PFL after beating Inaba.

I recently resigned from PFL after reaching a great agreement, and I’m looking forward to spending time together in front of large crowds like this. You guys really set a standard,” she remarked.

In the lead-up to the fight, Ditcheva had been vocal about how long she had been away from the cage, blaming a lacked credible opponents.

She won the PFL flyweight title last year with four straight stoppages, but she saw little benefit in competing against her again because of how many of her rivals had fought this year.

According to Ditcheva, who won eight of her nine professional matches, and “there is no denying her skill level,” she was eventually paired up with Inaba.

The Briton remained a standard above, despite Inaba’s unwavering bravery and admirable perseverance throughout.

Ditcheva quickly took control and repelled Inaba by pushing forward, which gave her a number of bad knees throughout the fight.

After punching her hand, Ditcheva landed more crunching knees from the clinch while the crowd chanted her name. She then moved on more cautiously.

However, Inaba’s opponent used kicks to keep her distance before showboating and cupping her ears in victory.

Costello van Steenis, from Spain, defeated Johnny Eblen in the main event to claim the PFL middleweight title.

Bangladesh’s largest Islamist party rallies for fair elections

In a rally in the capital, Dhaka, hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshis’ largest Islamist party supporters demanded a change to the electoral system.

The South Asian country is expected to turn in the polls next year as it approaches a jib after former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s ouster.

A seven-point demand was made on Saturday by Jamaat-e-Islami against Muhammad Yunus’ interim government to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections, as well as essential reforms, and the issuance and implementation of a charter in response to the mass uprising last year.

The party added that it wants to use a proportional representation system in the election.

Prior to the rally, thousands of Jamaat-e-Islami supporters stayed the night on the Dhaka University campus.

The nine-month war ended when the Pakistani army surrendered to a joint force of India and Bangladesh on December 16, 1971, and they continued to stream towards Suhrawardy Udyan, a historical site.

Iqbal Hossain, 40, said, “We are here for a new Bangladesh, where Islam would be the guiding principle of governance, where good and honest people would rule the nation, and where there would be no corruption.”

“We will give our lives to this cause, if necessary.”

No bias, please.

Some demonstrators wore T-shirts with the party’s logo on them, while others wore headbands with the party’s name on them, and many others carried metal badges that resembled a scale, the party’s electoral symbol.

There were also many young, 20- and 30-year-old supporters.

This nation will not experience discrimination under Jamaat-e-Islami. Everyone will have their rights. Because we adhere to the holy book, the Quran, Mohidul Morsalin Sayem, a student, said.

“Nobody will be able to take control of our country if all the Islamist parties join hands in the near future,” said one spokesman.

Shafiqur Rahman, the party’s leader, stated that the goal of the country’s struggle in 2024 was to end “fascism,” but that this time it would be fought against corruption and extortion.

What will Bangladesh look like in the future? Another fight will occur, Rahman said, and we will do everything to win it.

Members of Jamaat-e-Islami’s party demonstrate at the Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.

Jamaat, which supported Pakistan in the country’s 1971 independence war, was outlawed after Bangladesh’s independence.

It later re-apparashed and recorded its best electoral performance since 1991, winning 18 seats.

In 2001, the party re-elected as a coalition government, but it was unable to gain significant popular support.

Top Jamaat-e-Islami leaders were executed or imprisoned on charges of crimes against humanity and other serious crimes in 1971 while Prime Minister Hasina was in power from 2009 until she fled to India after being toppled by student protests last year.

The party’s registration was restored last month, allowing its participation in the upcoming April elections.

Hasina’s Awami League party publicly criticized Yunus’s government for allowing Saturday’s rally in a statement on X.

The action, according to the statement, “is a stark betrayal of the national conscience and constitutes a brazen act of undermining millions of people, both dead and alive, who fought against the evil axis]in 1971.”

Humphries suffers shock defeat in Blackpool

In the first round of the World Matchplay in Blackpool, reigning champion Luke Humphries was humiliated.

Gian van Veen, the 23-year-old Dutchman who is the world’s youth champion, described it as “the biggest win of my career,” while Humphries lost to him at the Winter Gardens with a score of 10-8.

Humphries, who defeated Michael van Gerwen to win the title 12 months later, had been aiming to become the only player to have won consecutive titles.

However, Van Veen, who had six match darts before Rob Cross abruptly lost his debut last year, made a strong start to the best-of-19-leg encounter.

Humphries eventually took the third three, but the 30-year-old struggled with his doubles the entire time.

Van Veen took a crucial 8-7 lead after coming within 5-3 of Humphries’s mark only for Humphries to hit back and go 7-6 up. Despite seeing a few match darts come and go in leg 17, Van Veen resurrected the win in the following leg, sealing the victory.

I’m thrilled to defeat such a fantastic player as Luke, Van Veen told Sky Sports. He is both a great champion and a great person.

I felt the pressure at 6-6 and 7-7, but I was relieved that I could keep up. Luke had some bad chances, but I got the best of them, and it means a lot.

Van Veen will get to meet with fellow compatriot Danny Noppert, who defeated Scottish debutant Cameron Menzies 10-2.

Tamzin Outhwaite has revealed that she has a dating app on her phone and is swiping for love. The 54-year-old soap icon, who separated from boyfriend Tom Child, a toyboy fitness instructor, has been dating since last year.

The actor, who has a reputation for playing Mel Owen on the BBC show from 1998 to 2019, was previously married to Miranda actress Tom Ellis, 46, from 2006 to 2014. The couple’s divorce came about as a result of his explosive claims that he had cheated, which led to the breakup of the relationship.

He married Meaghan Oppenheimer in 2023, and he has an older daughter from a previous relationship, despite having two daughters together. Tamzin and Tom Child first met at a yoga class in 2017, and they started dating in the summer of 2024.

The former couple are said to still be friends even though the relationship is over because Tom Child is 20 years younger than the soap actress. However, Tamzin has now revealed that she is ready to fall in love following her 2024 breakup.

And she has admitted she has turned to technology to try and find love via the algorithm and through swiping right – and left. But she also confessed she forgets she is signed up to the dating app – so some men may be waiting to match.

Opening up to The Sun, she said: “I’m single, I’ve tried the dating apps. I’m on one now but I keep forgetting to check it. I just can’t imagine actually going on the date and going back to the small talk. It will happen one day but I’m certainly not waiting for it.”

She continued, “I’ve been single for over a year, and I’m loving it too much.” Because I haven’t been single in a while, I owe it to myself.

She continued, “I’ve always been in relationships. Being alone is really nice, and I really like it.

After splitting from Tom Child last year and spending seven happy years together, Tamzin revealed her close friendship with him last month. He’s still one of my best friends, she said to Hello Magazine, and I adore him. However, I had to say, “I don’t want to share a bed.” I’m at a point where I need to be independent.

And last year, Tamzin opened up to the Mirror about her single status, having then recently broken up with the fitness hunk. She said: “I’m happy single. There’s a lot on! Life is really busy, throwing a relationship into that is a whole other thing.

“Freedom fills up my cup, freedom to do as you please is a lovely thing. That makes me happy.” Tamzin, who took part in the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special last year, said she is on a quest to challenge herself, build on things that make her happy and “fill up my own cup”

She was paired with Nikita Kuzmin for the Christmas Special – and shared that some of her friends tried to warn her off taking part in the cursed show.

She stated that while some people have said, “Oh, you should do it,” and others have said, “Sure, don’t,” these aren’t people who have done it!

“These are my acting friends, and I’m like, “Why?” Don’t do it; it’s going to be nightmares; in reality, this is just a taster for me. It kind of makes me believe that it won’t have to be a nightmare. My body might be able to support me.

She said at the time, “In my head, I think I look like Nadiya (Bychkova),” while sharing her joy for dancing. Then I look in the mirror and say, “Oh dear,” I get caught up in it. I try to be graceful, but that’s not what I’m used to, and it seems and feels really beautiful in my head.

Liam Payne left emotional over Building The Band star’s admission in final TV project

Building The Band, Liam Payne’s final television show, is available on Netflix, and one of the contestants’ comments made the late singer feel emotional on set.

Liam Payne was lost for words after a contestant on Building The Band revealed his link to the late singer. Former One Direction star Liam filmed the Netflix show last year, just weeks before he tragically died.

The Polaroid artist tragically passed away in Buenos Aires, Argentina, at the age of 31, after falling from his third-floor hotel balcony in October last year. He was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering unrequited injuries.

But just weeks prior, Liam appeared in his element, working alongside his pal Nicole Scherzinger, who created his former band, and American chart-topper, Kelly Rowland, filming the show in Manchester, with his relatives even joining him for the process.

A clip of the show sees the late musician left speechless when Australian contestant Mason Watts, who is part of the band Midnight Til Morning, revealed his unexpected connection to the band that Liam found fame in. “I just wanna say, Liam, when I was about 11 years old, my family won tickets from Australia,” Mason said.

When I was younger, my sisters were obsessed with me, and they won airplane tickets to take my entire family to Madison Square Garden. I’ve wanted to be in a group since that time. Thank you, man, for having a full-circle performance in front of you when you are here with a group.

After being shocked by the admission, Liam apologised and sent a message to Mason’s sisters. He remarked, “Hi sisters” After adding, “Thank you, man,” Liam continued, “Amazing, thank you so much.”

One fan wrote on social media: “That’s so cool Mason, living your dream and performing for Liam Payne, what an amazing full circle moment!” and other fans expressed emotion while watching the clip.

A second asked: “Is he tearing up?,” with one fan replying: “Yes he is, it means the world to him.” Another fan commented: “I can’t watch this. This breaks my heart into a million pieces. Life is so unfair. Liam is so kind. I met him back in the 1D days several times, and he was always one of the most appreciative and sweetest in the band. These promos for the show are making me so sad.”

He “felt genuinely touched,” she said. Although I don’t usually watch celebrities, one person said, “It’s gutting that he is gone because he was such a salt of the earth kind of person.” Concerns about whether the show should continue were raised prior to the show’s premiere last week, but Nicole clarified that Liam’s relatives had given him permission.

She continued, “Liam was very important to all of us, and we were obviously sensitive throughout the entire process. In the end, we wanted to respect his family’s opinions on everything and how things should proceed. Additionally, his parents were present when the movie was being filmed. They were incredible. It was fantastic.

They have been with Liam and with us throughout the entire process, and they were actually kind of sat right next to us throughout. So to know that we had their blessing and that they were so proud of him on the show, they said, “Oh, yes, this is how we want everyone to remember Liam. “

Right now, you can watch Building The Band on Netflix.
