The singer says spending time with his family in public is tricky now he is such a huge star

Ed Sheeran says he has had to install 24 hour security at his home because of “weird things which have happened”.

The singer says he tries to keep his life as normal as possible with his family.

But in a new interview with Louis Theroux, he said: “I was having a conversation with my wife about this actually, because I do think that there’s a… there is a different kind of normal that is our business.

“So like, for instance, I have like 24-hour security on my house, I have security with my kids, I have security with me, I have security with my wife, just because there’ve been a couple of like, weird things over the years that have happened”

When Louis sounded shocked, Ed added: “Just, you know, there’s lots of dangerous people out there.

“we’ve had like, you know, break in attempts and shit, just the stuff like…

“I’ve never seen that as normal(having security), but within my industry, that’s completely normal. Like lots of people I know have way more security and stuff like that.

“So I don’t know, that’s kind of like an underlying thing that, you know, no one ever really talks about, but that is kind of a part of the normal of being in the public eye, I guess.”

Ed said fame made it harder to do normal things with his children, and he “mourned” not being able to take his kids on the swings in a public park.

He added: “”I don’t really do it that much. I think like… of all the things that I’ve tried to do normal for my kids, we just do it in a… you know, my friend’s mum was in a pantomime and there was a matinee for it and she shut off the top of the theatre so we could sit there on our own and watch her in the pantomime.

“But stuff like that. So you still do normal things, but in a very like controlled manner. And that’s less for me… like I’m not a like, ‘no one look at me’ kind of person, I’m not that person at all. I love being out and about.

“I’m just like, I’m really, really sensitive to my kids, trying to just protect them as much as possible.”

Sheeran is married to Cherry Seaborn and the couple have two children.

The four-time Grammy-winning singer also revealed that he does not own a private jet and likes to travel via train.

“I like the environment, I like trees. I’d find it hard to justify. No one’s perfect. When we’re doing intense promo trips, there will be the odd time”, he told The Louis Theroux Podcast.

UK Unemployment Rises To Near Four-Year High

Britain’s unemployment rate has reached the highest level since July 2021, official data showed on Tuesday, after businesses were hit by a UK tax rise and US tariffs kicked in.

The rate climbed to 4.6 percent in the three months to the end of April, the Office for National Statistics said.

That compared with 4.5 percent in the first quarter of this year, the ONS added.

Tuesday’s data covers the start of a hike in business tax laid out in the Labour government’s inaugural budget last October.

April also saw the beginning of a baseline 10-percent tariff imposed on the UK and other countries by US President Donald Trump.

“There continues to be weakening in the labour market, with the number of people on payroll falling notably,” said ONS director of economic statistics Liz McKeown.

“Feedback from our vacancies survey suggests some firms may be holding back from recruiting new workers or replacing people when they move on.”

Analysts said the data, which included slowing growth to wages, would likely see the Bank of England continue to cut interest rates into 2026, weighing on the pound but lifting London’s stock market in early trade on Tuesday.

“With payrolls falling, the unemployment rate climbing and wage growth easing, today’s labour market release leaves us more confident in our view that the Bank of England will cut interest rates further than investors expect, to 3.50 percent next year,” noted Ruth Gregory, deputy chief UK economist at Capital Economics research group.

Blake Lively strikes victory pose as she breaks cover – but one thing gives away hidden anxiety

Body language expert Judi James tells the Mirror the truth behind Blake Lively’s triumphant return to the red carpet just hours after scoring a huge victory against Justin Baldoni in court

Blake Lively made a triumphant return to the spotlight last night just hours after scoring a huge victory against Justin Baldoni in court.

The 37-year-old actress beamed as she graced the Chanel Tribeca Festival Artists Dinner red carpet wearing a cream crocheted Chanel dress. Earlier that day, Baldoni’s huge $400million countersuit against Lively had been dismissed by a judge.

Baldoni had launched the countersuit after she claimed that he had engaged in a smear campaign against her after filming wrapped and that he had harrassed her on set. He went on to sue Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and her publicist Leslie Sloane for defamation.

However, Judge Lewis J Liman dismissed the lawsuit due to Lively’s allegations being made within privileged court papers, so were subsequently not defamatory.

Yet while Lively’s poses on the red carpet hint at her “smug victory”, she also lets slip her hidden anxiety, body language expert Judi James tells the Mirror.

“Blake’s professional red-carpet smiles have been pretty gale-proof during her ongoing legal battles but with Baldoni’s lawsuit apparently dismissed there’s several new body language features during these new poses that hint at a look of smug victory,” Judi explains..

“In the first pose Blake holds her right hand in the ‘broken wing’ pose with the wrist dropped in what is often a trait loved by celebrities who want to appear special and rather precious. Her left hand is raised in a wave but it is held low, with the fingers splayed, to suggest a ‘hail’ to her fans in an ‘I’m ok’ message.

“Her head is tilted in a gesture that signals a desire to be liked and her usual Duchenne smile shows a suggestion of pleasure and even smugness with the way the tip of her tongue is placed between her front teeth.

“Her second pose here is more emphatically confident and even victorious looking. Her torso and arm pose is symmetric as she faces the cameras front-on to suggest she’s nothing to hide.

“Her hands are on her hips with the elbows out in a partial pit-bare and splay that suggests feelings of power and strength. There is one small clue that hints of some feelings of inner anxiety or vulnerability though.

“Despite the power-splay her legs are crossed at the ankle which is a gesture that usually means some desire to self-protect or self-diminish. The contrast between the legs and the upper torso suggests contrasting emotions between confidence and vulnerability.”

Following the dismissal of Baldoni’s countersuit on Monday, a spokesperson for Blake told the Daily Mail: “Today’s opinion is a total victory and a complete vindication for Blake Lively, along with those that Justin Baldoni and the Wayfarer Parties dragged into their retaliatory lawsuit, including Ryan Reynolds, Leslie Sloane and The New York Times.

“As we have said from day one, this ‘$400 million’ lawsuit was a sham, and the Court saw right through it. We look forward to the next round, which is seeking attorneys’ fees, treble damages and punitive damages against Baldoni, Sarowitz, Nathan, and the other Wayfarer Parties who perpetrated this abusive litigation.”

Horse racing’s governing body hit by cyber attack

The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has become the latest major organisation to be targeted by a cyber attack.

The sporting body, which is responsible for the governance, administration and regulation of horse racing, first identified a ransomware incident at the end of last week.

Its London office is temporarily closed, and staff have been asked to work from home or remotely.

An investigation is still in its early stages, but according to a source, the incident seems limited to internal systems and data.

A spokesperson for the BHA said: “We recently identified and began investigating an IT incident. We are working at pace with external specialists to determine what happened in more detail and safely restore our systems.

Ukraine urges ‘action’ from allies as Russian attacks mount

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Western allies to take “concrete action” after Russia unleashed another barrage of drone and missile strikes.

The strikes launched early on Tuesday hit targets across the country, including Kyiv. It was the latest in a series of large-scale bombardments by Russian forces and spurred Zelenskyy to try once again to note to United States President Donald Trump that Moscow is not interested in a ceasefire.

Two people were killed and nine injured in the southern port city of Odesa, where a maternity hospital and residential buildings were struck. Four people were injured in the attack on Kyiv – one of the largest on the Ukrainian capital so far – while the Dnipro and Chernihiv regions were also targeted, Ukrainian officials said.

“Russian missile and Shahed strikes drown out the efforts of the United States and others around the world to force Russia into peace,” Zelenskyy said in a social media post.

“It is vital that the response to this and other similar Russian attacks is not silence from the world, but concrete action,” he said.

“Action from America, which has the power to force Russia into peace. Action from Europe, which has no alternative but to be strong. Action from others around the world who called for diplomacy and an end to the war – and whom Russia has ignored.”

Russia used 315 drones and seven missiles, two of them North Korean-made, in the latest wave of attacks, he said. An attack the previous night was reported as the biggest overnight drone bombardment of the more than three-year war.

The increased bombardment comes after Ukraine knocked out a large number of planes in Russia’s strategic bomber fleet in an audacious operation this month codenamed Spiderweb.

Russian President Vladimir Putin promised revenge shortly before the intensified wave of air strikes began.

Zelenskyy’s plea for action from the US comes as Trump appears to have stepped back somewhat from his push to broker a ceasefire.

While Russia and Ukraine have met for negotiations and have continued to exchange prisoners, there has been no pullback on the battlefield.

Zelenskyy and Ukraine’s European allies have been seeking to persuade the US president, who has often appeared to side with Putin in discussing the conditions surrounding a potential truce, that the Russian leader is not serious about finding a peaceful solution to the conflict, which began with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

The Ukrainian president continues to try to persuade Trump that the US must press Russia into taking ceasefire efforts seriously.

Cordina to return at lightweight against Gonzalez

Former IBF super-featherweight champion Joe Cordina will return to the ring on 5 July to fight Mexico’s Jaret Gonzalez at lightweight.

The 33-year-old lost his title to Anthony Cacace in a surprise defeat in Saudi Arabia 13 months ago.

The Welsh boxer had been due to make his comeback against Shakur Stevenson in October, but the WBC lightweight champion pulled out with a hand injury.

Cordina’s return to lightweight – where he won British and Commonwealth titles earlier in his career – will come on the undercard of Jack Catterall against Harlem Eubank at Manchester’s AO Arena.

Responding to the announcement on social media, Cordina posted: “Baby I’m back.”

Cardiff’s Cordina was a decorated amateur boxer who fought at an Olympics and in the same Team GB programme as his friend Anthony Joshua.

He won bronze at the 2014 Commonwealth Games and was European amateur champion in 2015.

After turning professional in 2017 he became Wales’ 13th world champion boxer when he beat Kenichi Ogawa to claim the IBF super-featherweight title in June 2022.

He was stripped of the title when he was unable to defend it within a 90-day window after suffering a broken hand but won it back with a hard-fought split-decision win over Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov in April 2023.

He then made one successful defence, a majority decision win over Edward Vazquez, before losing to Northern Ireland’s Cacace in May 2024.

Prior to that first professional defeat promoter Eddie Hearn had predicted Cordina was set for some “huge fights” if he could retain his title.
