Kneecap’s opening Glastonbury montage divides fans as band boast over crowd size

After the BBC refused to air their live performance on Saturday, Irish band Kneecap gave a sneak peek of their contentious Glastonbury set.

Irish rap trio Kneecap took to social media to share their opening Glastonbury montage with their followers. The band’s performance at the Worthy Farm event caused controversy with many having called for them to have been removed from the artist list.

While the calls failed, the BBC refused to air the group’s set live on Saturday as they took to the West Holts stage. And the group were keen to give fans a glimpse of what they missed.

Due to the large turnout, they added that they were sharing because some in the audience couldn’t see either. Before Kneecap’s performance, organizers had to inform organizers that the stage had been closed in response to the volume of the audience.

Without prior authorization, content cannot be displayed.

Taking to Twitter/X, the band said: “We made a wee intro video for Glasto – crowd was so big a good few heads couldn’t see it so here yis go x,” and also added a popcorn emoji. The clip showed a number of high profile people who were against their appearance.

It included Sharon Osbourne, who was booed by the crowd at the set. Keir Starmer and other political members also featured in the upload.

On social media, users were divided over the video. Some people adored the stance, but others criticized the band. One user wrote, “Boasting about having the counter terrorism squad investigating you isn’t the flex you think it is.”

However, another was full of praise, saying: “What an intro,” alongside a fire emoji. Another said: “Class lads,” with an okay hand emoji. And another urged the band to share an unedited version of their set after they joked on stage that BBC would have their hands full in the editing studios.

As the musicians performed to a raucous audience, “f*** Keir Starmer” screamed loudly in different tempos.

Mo Chara also defiantly declared his independence to the thousands of fans present. Following his court appearance last week, he received it.

The 27-year-old was alleged to have been “well within his rights” to express his views on Israel and Palestine during the court hearing, but the alleged incident is “wholly different.”

Prosecutor Michael Bisgrove stated at the hearing that “support for one is not the same as support for the other.” The issue with this case, and why it has been brought to court, is primarily centered on Mr. hAnnaidh’s apparent support of a prohibited terrorist organization.

Until his next hearing in the same court on August 20th, hAnnaidh was released on unconditional bail. The band’s controversial Glastonbury set was permitted as a result of his release.

However, the band made a point of reiterating that “the story isn’t Kneecap.” They stated that the main topic of conversation should not be about themselves, but that Palestine should be the subject of attention.

Lake urges Wales to focus on elusive win in Japan

The Huw Evans Agency

As they attempt to end a 17-game losing streak in international rugby, Wales captain Dewi Lake says his team must ignore the off-field turbulence in Welsh rugby while they are in Japan.

In a two-match series, Wales take on Eddie Jones’ side, with the first Test taking place on July 5 in Kitakyushu and the second Test taking place in Kobe seven days later.

Caretaker boss Matt Sherratt is currently in charge of Wales, and Warren Gatland, who left in February, has not yet been replaced. A permanent head coach is also awaiting appointment.

The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) and two of its professional sides, the Ospreys and Scarlets, are once more at odds with the domestic game in Wales.

Hooker Lake insists that their only goal should be to achieve their first international success since October 2023 despite the fact that the Wales players are well-versed in such chaos and turmoil.

After a significant losing run, “we have a job to do,” Lake said.

“We’re not completely focused on rugby, but we’ve got to be,” the player said as they were thinking about everything that was going on. So we start to consider Japan.

That’s what we’ve been discussing. We are aware of our summer activities.

No worries about the coach

Gethin Jenkins, Adam Jones, Danny Wilson, Rhys Thomas, Leigh Halfpenny, and other members of Sherratt’s backroom staff are currently only available for this tour.

The search for Gatland’s permanent replacement, which has taken almost five months, has now begun with the new WRU performance director, Dave Reddin.

In the upcoming weeks, Lake claims that the players won’t be bothered by that process.

“We know what we’ve got to do with the task at hand, and that’s not to think about what might come up next,” Lake said.

“We might not be here for the next round of coaches if we don’t do a job.”

There is no point in fretting or dwelling on that, they say. We have no say in the matter, and it’s not our choice.

Putting things right in Japan

Wales have fallen to the lowest position in the world rankings, just one place ahead of their opponents this summer, who lost 53-20 to the Maori All Blacks on Saturday in their warm-up game before hosting Wales.

Lake thinks the two-match series has grown more significant as a result.

It’s “colossal,” Lake remarked. We’re not underestimating what they’re going to bring, they say.

They have a dangerous side and have caused a lot of upheaval in recent memory.

It’s going to be a big battle because they’re 13 and we’re 12 for a reason, according to the statement.

Heat and humidity

Two mid-afternoon kick-offs with extreme heat and humidity are anticipated to be held in high spirits.

The tactic Lake says he won’t be shocked at is that Japan boss Jones has stated that he wants his side to “run Wales off their feet.”

We are aware of the rugby game they enjoy, Lake said.

They play with a lot of speed, we know. We must slow down the pace because they will want to play quickly.

“That’ll emphasise our defense,” we said, “but we’re going to have to slow it down, stop it, and make sure we’re the dominant team in the world.” But we are aware of what they will bring.

At their training facility in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales’ preparation included exhausting heat-chamber training.

According to Lake, “We’ve heard rumors that it’s going to be a whole new level.”

“We’ve worked hard and put in a lot of heat to replicate the weather here.”

Captain knowledge

Dewi Lake and Jac Morgan were Wales' co-captains at the 2023 World Cup in FranceThe Huw Evans Agency

Lake reclaims his leadership position as Wales’ captain during the Australian summer tour of 2024 and the autumn internationals.

After his good friend Jac Morgan, along with scrum-half Tomos Williams, was one of only two Welshmen chosen for the British and Irish Lions tour of Australia, he has been asked to lead the squad once more.

“I was just happy and proud of him,” Lake remarked. We accomplished a lot together and came through.

It was amazing to read out his name. When he discovered his illness, I was on a flight in South Africa with him, and we all expressed our happiness and pride.

Due to a bicep injury that prevented Lake’s own Lions from winning the tournament, his ambitions were hindered by a Six Nations injury.

After missing the first three games, Lake was forced to play for replacements against England and Scotland.

The Ospreys hooker has only been given 20 caps so far in a string of niggling injuries, which is his most recent setback.

Although it’s difficult, Lake remarked, “I guess there’s a reason things happen.” However, my body is also feeling good.

Six uncapped players from Japan and Wales’ 33-man squad have benefited from spending a month together.

“We’ve worked hard and effectively,” Lake said. Because it’s a relatively new group, a lot of time has been spent on merely developing relationships.

He scored 29 929 runs with 60 centuries for Northamptonshire in 716 appearances across first-class and one-day formats.

The Northants team’s first major trophy, the Gillette Cup, was won by the team in 1976 with the opening batter.

Before resuming his professional football career in 2001, he moved to Durham and spent a short time in Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire Minor Counties.

He feared no-one with the new ball and threatened to do much harm to the very best, according to Northamptonshire, one of the most exciting and naturally talented English top-order batsmen of his generation.

Debbie Larkins’ wife, “Ned loved everyone he met and everyone loved him.” His infectious energy won over the audience. He never wanted the party to end, and he lit up every room.

He cherished his daughters and wife so dearly. He’ll be toasting everyone and his own life by going to parties up in the sky. We are devastated, but we’ll never forget how profoundly special he was and how he impacted our lives.

Fearless Alcaraz Has Third Wimbledon Title In His Sights

Carlos Alcaraz believes that overcoming his fear factor has given him the confidence to pursue a landmark third Wimbledon title in a row.

On Monday, Alcaraz will face Fabio Fognini in a match on Center Court.

The 22-year-old Spaniard wants to become the fifth player to win at least three Open titles in a row, joining Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic.

Alcaraz will make his Wimbledon debut with an 18-game winning streak against Djokovic, who has previously defeated Djokovic in the All England Club final two times.

The world number two is aware of the historical significance of his title bid over the upcoming two years, but he doesn’t want to be swayed by talk of Wimbledon immortality.

I’m arriving here believing that I’m in the best position to win the title. Alcaraz told reporters at the All England Club on Saturday, “I really want to lift the trophy, not thinking about how many players have won three Wimbledons in a row.”

I’m just contemplating, “Okay, I just want to be ready and just want to prepare myself the best.”

I’m obviously feeling very confident right now. But I’m just considering how to move forward and begin the tournament.

In a Grand Slam, two weeks can be very long. If I win three Wimbledons straight, I’m not thinking about who I might be a part of. ”

Alcaraz won the grass-court competition at Queen’s Club for the second time to prepare for Wimbledon.

Following his sensational run in the clay-court competition, that victory demonstrated that the five-time Grand Slam champion had returned to grass.

‘My best level.

Alcaraz won the French Open championship match against his Italian rival Alcaraz for the fifth time in a row after coming back from two sets down and saving three match-points against Jannik Sinner in a thrilling match.

Prior to his triumph at Roland Garros, he had already won clay competitions in Rome and Monte Carlo.

Alcaraz lost to Holger Rune in the Barcelona final in April, and he thinks the key to his blistering run is to play fearlessly.

“Yes, probably. When I’m just playing or just enjoying myself, without any other considerations, He said, “I have the freedom to play whatever I want.”

When that occurs, I always play tennis at my best and play at my best level. So far, I think I feel the most libertarian feeling, let’s say, because I’ve probably already played that game. ”

Alcaraz, who spent this week playing golf with former champion Andy Murray and dining in central London, is at his best when he is calm mentally.

It’s important to me to feel fantastic both off and on the court, according to me. I won’t play well if I’m feeling bad, bored, or like I don’t want to be there off the court, he said.

As the defending champion, it feels great to be back in Wimbledon. Thinking back on the events of the previous year is really beautiful.

“Just really excited to officially launch the tournament. See how I proceed. ”
