Fern Britton has admitted it’s not easy keeping quiet about her ex Phil Vickery when she’s with the couple’s daughter, Winnie. The former This Morning host, 67, called it quits with the celebrity chef, 64, in 2020 after two decades together.

Fern has revealed that she and Phil no longer speak and admitted she finds it hard not to ‘bad-mouth’ her ex to their daughter, 23, as she lifted the lid on the family’s dynamic. Explaining that Winnie “adores” her dad, she said: “Winnie adores him. I’m not going to bad-mouth him in front of her; at least, I try very hard not to. I was the child of divorced parents and my mum never bad-mouthed my father.”

The veteran presenter made the candid comments in Yours magazine, where she claims Phil “stopped talking” to her six years ago.

In 2020, speaking to Good Morning Britain, heartbroken Fern revealed the personal struggles that led to their separation, as she explained: “My mum died and my father died and unfortunately Phil and I fell apart.”

However, later speaking to Woman and Home magazine, she explained that the former couple’s lives would always be intertwined, despite their differences, revealing: “We simply needed to follow our own paths. Over time we realised we weren’t necessarily having the kind of life we once did. It seemed right to say ‘thank you’ and move on. But we do have a good friendship.”

“Phil and I had the greatest fun together and we have the most beautiful daughter together, Winnie… so we will always be connected.”

Fern has previously spoken about her own parents’ relationship, explaining how she and her sister, scriptwriter, Cherry Britton, were always given “some convoluted stories” about why their father, Tony Britton, “wasn’t here”.

Tony and his first wife Ruth, Fern’s mother, divorced when she was just four years. Writing in her autobiography The Older I Get How I Repowered My Life, the Celebrity Big Brother star explains how she discovered she had no memories of her father living with her.

She revealed by the time she was born in 1957, Tony had already left her mother to be with Eva Castle, who would become his second wife.

She wrote: “It transpired that during one visit of a few hours back to see her, he and my mum had temporarily rekindled their feelings and I was conceived.

“Did he go back to his new partner with a – possibly – guilty spring in his step? How did he manage to explain my eventual appearance to his future wife?”

After only finding the truth when she was aged 55, Fern admitted: “I was left with a strong feeling of ‘why did nobody say?’ Everyone knew,’ adding that is had left her was lasting trust issues.”

Fern split from her first husband, Clive, after more than a decade together and the birth of their three kids, twins Jack and Harry and daughter Grace. They called it quits officially in 2000, and later that year, she tied the knot with Phil.

Brooklyn Beckham’s younger brother Cruz has responded to reports that the aspiring chef has cut all ties with his famous family in a heartbreaking post. Victoria and David’s eldest son, who has been locked in a bitter feud with his family reportedly over wife Nicola Peltz, is said to be now refusing to respond to his parents’ messages.

Sources close to Brooklyn, 26, have claimed “he wants no contact and he’s not responding to those that try to connect”. After the latest sad twist, Cruz took to his Instagram to reach out to his big brother by posting a throwback photo on his Stories.

Cruz shared a moving black and white throwback photo of all four Beckham children sharing a cuddle with their mum, Victoria. Spice Girl Victoria looked super proud of her brood as she cuddled Harper in her arms while her boys leaned in for the camera as they hung out on the sofa.

Brooklyn was seen on the left laying his head affectionately on his mum’s shoulder. This week the family were delivered huge news when it was reported that David, 50, will finally be awarded a knighthood in the King’s Birthday Honours list this week. While Victoria will be known as Lady Beckham.

However, Brooklyn is said to have failed to congratulate his dad on the long-awaited title. Amid the family rift, David reportedly didn’t tell Brooklyn about the accolade, with the eldest of the Beckham kids instead finding out through the media.

Insiders close to the 26-year-old told Page Six that he was thrilled his dad was finally receiving the honour and had known it was so important.

However, a separate source close to the Beckhams told the publication: “Brooklyn told his family he wants no contact and he’s not responding to those that try to connect.”

Yet a separate Brooklyn source denied the claim, saying: “This seems to be another deliberate attempt to misrepresent the truth, and it only serves to distract from this honour being bestowed on Brooklyn’s father.”

It comes after Brooklyn sent a damning message to his famous mum, dad and siblings last month, vowing that he will “always choose” his wife Nicola Peltz after claims that she has been the catalyst behind the mass fall out.

In the video shared on social media, Brooklyn was seen revving a motorbike alongside Nicola in Beverly Hills. He wrote in the caption: “My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you’re the most amazing person i know xx me and you forever baby.”

The message appeared to be unmistakably pointed at his family feud. The clip is the first public move either Brooklyn or Nicola has made in relation to the very visible divide within the Beckham family.

Meanwhile, Cruz’s throwback post isn’t the first time he sent a subtle message to his brother. Last month, after Brooklyn announced he’d always ‘choose Nicola’, Cruz shared a post that read: It takes 43 muscles in your face to frown, and 17 to smile. Be kind and tell the truth.” he wrote.

The 20-year-old also said in a separate post: “I love my family, I love you guys more than anything, mum & dad you gave us life and cared for us no matter what, I cannot tell you how blessed we all are to have you in our lives x.”

Speculation of a feud has been growing for months when fans noticed both Brooklyn and Nicola snubbed Victoria’s birthday and David’s 50th birthday milestone.

The couple also failed to publicly support the Beckham family despite previously sharing loving posts with one another. While they didn’t show up to their family’s birthdays, the couple were seen celebrating Coachella, attending events and even celebrating Nicola’s brother Will’s birthday.

Sources close to Nicola have previously insisted that as “an outsider coming into the Beckham family, she has helped Brooklyn see the emotional abuse and toxic behaviour within”. The claims – described as “patently untrue and ludicrous” by friends of David and Victoria – were the “nail in the coffin” of any future relationship, according to insiders.

New magazine reported that Victoria is struggling with the situation because 26-year-old Brooklyn is “always going to be her baby”. Another source said: ”He’s her first-born and they’ve always had a wonderful relationship, she feels like Nicola has taken over and it’s really tough to deal with as a mother.

“David is frustrated with Brooklyn’s behaviour and is telling Victoria it’s unacceptable, but she’s just upset to feel like she’s losing her first baby. She’s very family-oriented so it’s a worry that Brooklyn and Nicola will start their own family and Victoria won’t have contact with her first grandchild – it’s a devastating thought.”

UK MPs react to report alleging David Cameron ‘threatened’ ICC withdrawal

Several United Kingdom lawmakers have criticised the previous government over allegations in a recent media report that former Foreign Secretary David Cameron “privately threatened” to defund and withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC) over its plans to issue arrest warrants for Israeli officials over alleged war crimes in Gaza.

The report, published on Monday by the UK-based outlet Middle East Eye (MEE), cited sources with knowledge of a phone call Cameron allegedly made to ICC chief prosecutor Karim Khan on April 23, 2024, after he had given advance notice of his intention to apply for the warrants targeting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and then Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.

MEE’s report cited unnamed sources, including former staff in Khan’s office, and had seen minutes of the conversation, claiming that Cameron warned the arrest warrants, which were issued in November that year, would be – in quotes reported by the sources – tantamount to “dropping a hydrogen bomb”, warning that if the ICC went ahead, the UK would “defund the court and withdraw from the Rome Statute”.

Khan reportedly stood his ground, with sources telling MEE that he said afterwards that he did not like “being pressurised”. “I won’t say if it rises to blackmail – I don’t like being threatened,” he reportedly said, adding that the government was “debasing” the UK with its clear attack on the independence of the court and the rule of international law.

Neither Khan nor Cameron, who was prime minister between 2010 and 2016, and now sits in the House of Lords as a life peer, has commented on the report.

Following the report’s publication, Labour Party MP Zarah Sultana said on X that Cameron “and every UK minister complicit in arming and enabling Israel’s genocide in Gaza” should be investigated.

Scottish National Party MP Chris Law said the allegations were “shocking”, but added the country was “not seeing much better under Labour”.

Bell Ribeiro-Addy, a Labour MP, called for an “independent inquiry into the UK’s role in the Gaza genocide”.

Zack Polanski, the deputy leader of the Green Party, was cited by MEE as saying: “It’s been clear for all to see that both the former and current government have stood with the oppressors, not the marginalised.”

When the ICC applied for the arrest warrants in May last year, the previous Conservative Party government, a strong backer of Israel, decried the move as “not helpful in relation to reaching a pause in the fighting, getting hostages out or getting humanitarian aid in”.

Ryan considered retirement after losses to Mayer

Derby’s Sandy Ryan says she considered retiring from boxing after successive defeats by Mikaela Mayer.

Ryan, 31, lost her WBO welterweight world title to Mayer in controversial circumstances last September before being beaten in the rematch in March.

After two emotionally and physically draining encounters in the US, Ryan admitted she was devastated with her performance.

“Mid-fight I fell asleep as in stopped reacting, stopped doing what I normally do,” Ryan told BBC Radio Derby.

“I remember being in the corner and my brother and [coach] Kay were like ‘what’s wrong?’ I was in my own world. I just can’t explain it.

“It’s not the best place to be in one of the biggest fight of your career.”

“After the fight, I thought I was done,” she added.

“I was finished boxing. And then a few weeks after, I had been back home for a while and after a few weeks the fight was still in me. I still have so much to give.”

Ryan’s first encounter with Mayer was marred by an unknown person throwing paint over the Englishwoman as she was leaving her hotel on fight night.

Ryan described the scorecards in the first fight as “questionable” but had no complaints about the rematch, which was a unanimous points win for the American.

She said camp was “mentally” tough and she suspects she carried a lot of the effects of their first dramatic fight into the rematch.

“I tried to not bring it with me, but in the back of my head it was always there,” she said.

“I tried to be too relaxed and not be as aggressive or have that fire. But maybe when I look back, maybe I was too relaxed and not reacting to certain things which kind of made me a bit more calm.

“In the fight game, yeah it’s good to be calm but I am an aggressive fighter and I needed that.

Cyborg – What next for Ryan?

Ryan says she expects to make her return to the ring in August in the United Kingdom, with her management currently searching for an opponent.

Cris Cyborg, a former UFC and PFL world champion in MMA, is one name being mentioned and Ryan asked her team to explore the possibility of making that match-up.

The Brazilian has a 5-0 record in professional boxing, with her most recent bout in May.

“Her profile is big,” Ryan said of Cyborg. “I saw she was calling out Claressa Shields, which is just crazy.

“It would be great – I’d be happy if they made that fight. She seems very confident, but it’s boxing, she wouldn’t beat me.”

Despite her interest in Cyborg, Ryan says it is more likely she will have a tune-up fight.

Nike taps Indian design duo in historic collaboration to ‘invite women into sport’

Nike’s historic collaboration with Indian designer brand NorBlack NorWhite seeks to turn the brand’s performance pieces into “symbols of cultural connection” and will be “steeped in Indian culture”.

The historic collaboration comes from New Delhi-based label: NorBlack NorWhite(Image: Nike x NorBlack NorWhite)

Sportwear giant Nike has launched its first major collaboration with an Indian designer label NorBlack NorWhite (NBNW). The limited-edition styles celebrate Indian culture and craftsmanship and “invite women into sport” with unrestrictive silhouettes.

NBNW is the brainchild of Mriga Kapadiya and Amrit Kumar. The New Delhi-based label is known for combining traditional Indian crafts and textiles with streetwear silhouettes.

The Nike x NBNW collection is rooted in the practice of bandhani: a centuries-old Indian tie-dye technique used to create the complex patterns. According to Nike, the collaboration helps transforms the brand’s performance styles into “symbols of cultural connection” and introduce “new communities to colours and patterns steeped in Indian culture”.

The collection includes sportswear and leisurewear essentials including a hoodie, tank, cropped T-shirt, bras and shorts. A Nike x NorBlack NorWhite crossbody bag is also part of the limited edition collection as are four footwear silhouettes for women: the Nike Air Max Craze, Motiva and Pegasus 41.

The collection is available globally on June 11 at nike.com and select Nike Stores. The Nike Calm x NorBlack NorWhite Women’s Slides (£54.99) are currently available online in the UK. As are the High-Waisted Printed Biker Shorts (£32.99), matching Light-Support Padded Printed Sports Bra (£37.99) and the Dri-FIT Printed Tank Top (£44.99).

The collaboration is noteworthy not just for its hues but for its focus on silhouettes that promote easy and effortless movement for women. Women’s kit is often cited by athletes as particularly restrictive and unfunctional and this new range addresses these shortcomings with breathable and free-flowing pieces.

“This collection shines a light on the rigor, dedication and ancestral knowledge that’s rooted in Indian culture, and we hope each piece inspires women to draw into their own athletic mindset while navigating everyday life in India and around the world,” says Mriga.

To highlight the functionality of the designs, Nike and NBNW teamed up with several female athletes. The official campaign features wrestler Anshu Malik, sprinter Priya Mohan and cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma.

“What really hits different from other campaigns is that this collaboration is designed right here in India by a local collective that gets our vibe,” says Jemimah. “Wearing Nike that’s laced with Indian culture is a flex. It’s bold, rooted and ours. As a woman in a sport that’s often seen through a male lens, being part of a campaign like this is my way of saying, ‘We’re not just showing up, we’re here to take over, win big and look fab while doing it.’”
