Drag Race UK star on incredible weight loss and poignant The Vivienne message

Kitty Scott-Claus, who appeared in the third series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, has lost eight pounds after making some radical lifestyle changes

Pride month is in full swing, and drag queens, the so-called ‘ambassadors’ of the LGBTQIA+ community, are already busy entertaining crowds. In fact, today, I’m sitting with Kitty Scott-Claus who has just spent the weekend ‘shouting in a mic’ at Mighty Hoopla.

“I love to be the loudest person in the room,’ Kitty jokes. She adds: “It’s so annoying, I hate myself.”

Being an entertainer is just one of the many hats Kitty wears. She was a finalist on 2022’s Celebrity MasterChef and is now gearing up for a return to the West End this summer with her upcoming role in The Diana Mixtape, embodying once again Lady Di, a character with which she won the notably difficult ‘snatch game’ challenge on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

With her honest humour and infectious charisma, it didn’t take long for Kitty to earn her place as one of the UK’s most beloved Drag Queens. But her journey started from ‘real humble beginnings’, she reveals.

Kitty says: “I feel like, especially this year, this pride month, I feel so reflective of my journey, and how far I’ve come, and thinking ‘oh my god’ from where I started.

“I started doing drag at a bar in Camden and we were playing to like three people.” Kitty has since put her Bachelor’s Degree from the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, in musical theater to good use.

Keeping herself booked and busy, the media personality has not tired yet from the wigs and make up. “Drag gives you the opportunity to be beautiful on the days where you don’t necessarily feel beautiful,” she reveals.

She further shares: “Drag for me, I feel like I’m Barbie and I feel like it doesn’t matter what the situation is, I just put on the outfit, and then I become that thing. So when I was in Masterchef, I put on my Masterchef’s outfit, I feel like it’s a good analogy for life.”

And while many drag artists keep their art completely separate from their real lives, Kitty embodies her real personality in and out of her work attire. “I don’t really have a drag persona, I’m the same in drag or out of drag, it doesn’t matter if I’ve got a wig on or not, I’m always going to be an attention seeker,” she says.

Nevertheless, Kitty also enjoys being able to enter public spaces as herself, or rather, himself – Louie Westwood, even though ‘the gays know’. She explains: “It’s fabulous, because you get to do that double life thing.

“In the words of Hannah Montana, you get the best of both worlds.” While being confident and admitting to always being happy with their appearance, Kitty also acknowledges the pressure of being scrutinised by TV views.

But that wasn’t the motivation for Kitty to lose an impressive eight stone. She recalls: “I was so happy with the size I was and I never thought, because I’d grown up being a bigger individual, I’d grown up being plus size, I never thought in a million years I could be the size I am now, that just never crossed my mind.

“I’d grown up being bigger, I just didn’t think that it was possible.” Upon starting working out with a personal trainer suggested by her Drag Race castmate, Ella Vaday, Kitty got a taste for a healthier lifestyle.

Kitty further shared her weight loss journey, revealing how she achieved her transformation: “The biggest thing for me was finding an exercise routine that works for you and that you enjoy. I think if you enjoy it, you don’t feel like ‘all right, I’ve got go and work out now’.”

The drag artist admitted that going to the gym has become her ‘zen time’, a place where she can be by herself and listen to her music. In addition to the gym, Kitty also goes swimming.

“I really love swimming and that’s completely disconnected from everything, I don’t have a phone, I don’t have music with me, I don’t have any distractions,” Kitty says. “It’s me and the pool.”

Diet and making radical changes to her lifestyle have also contributed to Kitty’s transformation. She further debunked rumours accusing her of relying on diabetes medications that have been made popular by celebrities in recent years.

Kitty as Princess Diana
Kitty won RuPaul Drag Race’s “snatch game” challenge by embodying Princess Diana

“A lot of it is diet, and I feel like especially losing weight in 2025, the world is so hot on Ozempic and Mounjaro, and everyone is so quick to say you’ve just done Ozempic, you’re in the public eye, you have a blue tick, this is how you’ve done it,” Kitty admits. “And it’s like no, I’m in the gym every single day, and I love it, and I’ve changed my diet, I don’t drink anymore, I’m sober.”

She adds: “Completely 180 of what my life was and I’m eight stone down and I’ve never been happier. I’ve never felt more confident.”

Running is another activity Kitty ‘absolutely loves’ doing. In fact, she loved it so much, she ran this year’s London Marathon, dedicating the 26.2 mile race to the late The Vivienne.

‘Vive has left such a lasting legacy and it’s such a powerful message that she’s left behind, and it’s going to inspire queens from now for generations to come,” Kitty says. “She’s so missed by everyone and I love her.”

James Lee Williams, known professionally as The Vivienne, was the winner of the first series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK. She tragically passed in January at the age of 32 from a cardiac arrest.

Despite the joy and colour brought by a month promising rainbows and acceptance, the versatile drag artist acknowledges more unfortunate events that have impacted the community this year. This includes the UK Supreme Court ruling that the legal definition of “woman” under the Equality Act 2010 is based on biological sex, excluding transgender women.

‘It just reiterates how important it is to have pride and to have pride month,” Kitty reacts. “And I mean, I’m coming to this speaking as a cisgender man about the legislation rules about trans and what is a woman.

Pacers beat Thunder to take lead in NBA Finals

Tyrese Haliburton praised a team effort from the Indiana Pacers after they beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 116-107 to take a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals.

Haliburton scored 22 points and made 11 assists and nine rebounds as the Pacers overturned a five-point deficit going into the fourth quarter in game three of the best-of-seven series.

The Pacers bench outscored the Thunder by 49-18, with reserve Bennedict Mathurin contributing 27 points at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Mathurin said: “The main thing is you have to be resilient. You have to be the aggressor in order to win games.”

The Pacers, who went into the game after a 123-107 defeat in game two, extended a run of not losing consecutive games since March.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the NBA’s Most Valuable Player, scored 24 points for the Thunder but only three in the fourth quarter.

Jalem Williams top-scored for the visitors with 26 points, while Chet Holmgren scored 20 points and made 10 rebounds for a Thunder side that gave up 19 turnovers which led to 21 points for the Pacers.

“In the fourth quarter I just thought they really outplayed us on both ends,” said Thunder coach Mark Daigneault.

Trump launches website for $5m ‘gold card’ granting US residency

United States President Donald Trump has said his administration is accepting applications for his so-called “Trump Card”, which promises applicants permanent residency for $5m.

Trump made the announcement on Wednesday as he unveiled a new website for prospective applicants to register their interest.

Visitors to TrumpCard.gov are encouraged to submit their name, region and email address, and specify whether they are applying as an individual or a business, in order “to be notified the moment access opens”.

“Thousands have been calling and asking how they can sign up to ride a beautiful road in gaining access to the Greatest Country and Market anywhere in the World,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

“It’s called THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THE WAITING LIST IS NOW OPEN.”

Trump first proposed the residency visa in February, saying his administration would offer wealthy applicants a “gold card” that grants residency and work rights as well as a path to citizenship.

“They’ll be wealthy, and they’ll be successful, and they’ll be spending a lot of money, and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people,” Trump said at the time.

In April, Trump displayed a sample visa – a gold-coloured card bearing his visage – to reporters on board Air Force One.

Trump administration officials have suggested that the card will replace the EB-5 immigrant investor visa programme, which grants permanent residency to immigrants who invest at least $1.05m in the US, or $800,000 in designated economically distressed areas.

It is unclear what criteria applicants may have to meet apart from the $5m price tag, though the Trump administration has indicated there will be a vetting process.

Milei says Argentina to move embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 2026

Argentinian President Javier Milei has announced that his country will move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem next year, as the populist leader signalled his support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s increasingly isolated government.

Argentina’s embassy is currently located in Herzliya, just outside Tel Aviv. But in a speech to Israel’s parliament on Wednesday, staunchly pro-Israel Milei said he was “proud to announce” his country will move its “embassy to the city of west Jerusalem” in 2026.

“Argentina stands by you in these difficult days,” Milei said.

“Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about a large part of the international community that is being manipulated by terrorists and turning victims into perpetrators,” he told the Knesset.

The Argentinian leader, currently on his second state visit to Israel since taking office in 2023, said Buenos Aires will continue to demand that Israeli captives held in Gaza be released, including four with Argentinian citizenship taken during the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, attack.

Milei also criticised Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who was detained and deported by Israeli authorities this week after being taken with other activists from a Freedom Flotilla Coalition ship attempting to break Israel’s naval blockade on Gaza.

Thunberg has been a vocal critic of Israel’s war crimes in Gaza and deliberate starvation of the territory’s Palestinian population.

“[Thunberg] became a hired gun for a bit of media attention, claiming that she was kidnapped when there are really hostages in subhuman conditions in Gaza,” Milei said, according to a translation of his remarks from Spanish provided by the Knesset.

Israel is facing mounting international pressure over the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, with the overall death toll after more than 20 months of war surpassing 55,000 Palestinians.

Delicate issue

Milei had pledged to move Argentina’s embassy during his first visit in February 2024, in which he also prayed at the Western Wall, a revered religious site for Jews in Jerusalem.

Speaking in advance of Milei’s address to parliament this week, Prime Minister Netanyahu said “the city of Jerusalem will never be divided again”.

The status of Jerusalem is one of the most delicate issues in the Israel-Palestinian conflict, with Israel claiming the entirety of the ancient city as its capital, while Palestine claims its occupied eastern sector as the capital of any future Palestinian state.

Israel first occupied East Jerusalem during the 1967 Six-Day War, before unilaterally annexing it in 1980 in a move rejected by the United Nations Security Council. Due to its disputed status, the vast majority of the 96 diplomatic missions present in Israel host their embassies in the Tel Aviv area to avoid interfering with peace negotiations.

Currently only six countries – Guatemala, Honduras, Kosovo, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay and the United States – have embassies located in West Jerusalem.

During his first term in 2017, President Donald Trump made the shock decision to unilaterally recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital before moving the US embassy there a year later, prompting Palestinian anger and the international community’s disapproval.

The fomer Top Gear presenter told The Sunday Times newspaper: “Whatever happens we’ll definitely take a short break as the crews are all worn out. We’ve been filming here two or three days a week, every week, for five years. Everybody could do with a rest.”

Clarkson’s Farm has proved to be a big hit since it first aired in 2021, with Kaleb soaring to fame as one of the main figures on the show. As a result, he recently embarked on a UK tour and has written a book.

Whilst Kaleb was away on his live speaking tour, Jeremy was assisted by glamorous new farmhand Harriet Cowan. Clarkson then dismissed claims that Kaleb had been “replaced” on Clarkson’s Farm.

The 65-year-old presenter continued: “What happened is this, he went away on his speaking tour, for a couple of months because he imagined that after four years, I’d be able to manage on my own. I didn’t – I made a complete mess of everything and had to bring in a young girl called Harriet. Harriet is brilliant and looked after the fort until he got back. That is it – that’s the story!”

Ever since former Top Gear star Jeremy, decamped to Chipping Norton in the Cotswolds, fans have been gripped by the trials and troubles the star has faced as he tried to earn a profit from his farm which is all documented in his hit series. He is aided by farm hand Kaleb, 26 – who often proves he is more informed on farming practices than his motor head boss.

Clarkson’s Farm can be streamed now on Prime Video.

Saunas, cuddly toys and new bonds – inside the Lions’ Algarve den

“Tell them what you said about me,” Ellis Genge teases Finley Bealham as the Englishman sits down for an interview at the British and Irish Lions training base in Portugal.

“I said you were the best looking, with the best chat,” Bealham fires back, before the two props embrace.

Three days into the Lions camp and already the bonds are being forged.

“It was a bit strange when we first turned up, I’ve said some really horrible things to a few of them on the pitch,” Genge tells the Rugby Union Weekly podcast.

“But what a group of boys. I am really enjoying being around them. Finlay, he’s a tighthead [Genge’s opposite number]. But we are getting on like a house on fire. What a great bloke – a very funny character, right up my street. That’s the beauty of rugby.

“It’s weird, the battle of attrition you have been through over the last few years, playing against them, and trying to hit lumps out of them.

It’s a busy scene at the Lions training complex in Quinta do Lago as the players mingle after a gym session.

England flanker Henry Pollock is tightly clutching BiL, the Lions mascot which is his sole responsibility as the youngest member of the touring party.

Huw Jones is going through an individual routine with one of the Lions conditioners as the Scotland centre recovers from a niggling Achilles problem.

Marcus Smith wanders over for a chat, mainly about how mutual acquaintance Danny Care is adjusting to life as a civilian.

And with the players finished in the open-air gym, coach Johnny Sexton and head of performance David Nucifora nip in for a quick workout.

Meanwhile, Genge speaks to us after a precise sauna session – “11 minutes a day, five days a week,” he explains.

Despite the relaxed atmosphere, the Lions are on the clock.

Not only do they have to bond off the field, but on it they need to build cohesion before the clash with the world’s fifth-ranked side Argentina in Dublin on 20 June.

And this is without 15 players from Leinster, Bath and Leicester, who are preparing for domestic finals this weekend. In fact, five weeks after naming his squad, head coach Andy Farrell has yet to have his whole touring party in the same room.

“Nothing is going to be perfect on a Lions tour,” explains assistant coach John Dalziel.

“The crazy nature of the schedule; the travel; there will be injuries thrown at us. We have just got to be adaptable.

“This is what we wanted and we have to train that adaptability. That’s what the Lions are about – we will move, we will adapt and we will have no excuses.”

Genge agrees: “We’ve got a lot to learn. On and off the pitch. But the expectation is to be a fast-learner, and that is what we are doing.”

The Lions have already had to reshuffle, with Zander Fagerson’s calf injury opening the door for Bealham, and George and Asher Opoku-Fordjour joining to bolster training numbers.

Now Farrell and the management face a nervous wait before the finalists head into camp on Sunday, with Dalziel confirming some players will be asked to turn around six days later to face the Pumas.

“The Lions are going to play three games in a week. If we can’t turn around in seven days, then we won’t be able to turn around in two or three,” he adds.

For a first-time tourist like Wales’ Jac Morgan, it’s a chance to both make an impression and learn from back-row rivals.

“There is loads to learn, and I am looking forward to see how they all train, their habits and the extra stuff they do,” Morgan tells Rugby Union Weekly.

“But also it’s exciting to work as a back row and get the best out of each other. It will be great to learn from them and to play with them.”

And as one of only two Welshmen on the tour, Morgan knows he has a responsibility to uphold Wales’ proud Lions traditions.

“There have been a lot of Welshmen in the history of the Lions; they are legends of the game,” he adds.

“So it is a massive inspiration and hopefully we can make everyone in Wales proud.”

From Portugal, the Lions head to Dublin on Sunday before flying straight to Australia after the meeting with the Pumas.

First stop down under is Perth, and the tour opener with the Western Force on June 28.
