Police Arrest 182 Suspects For Various Offences In Kaduna

The Kaduna Police Command has arrested 182 suspects for various offences during operations in different parts of the state, as part of a renewed effort to rid the area of criminal elements and safeguard lives and properties.

The suspects were arrested in their hideouts and black spots during a coordinated operation spearheaded by Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in metropolitan areas, particularly Rigasa, Kawo, Tudun Wada, Sabon Tasha, and other communities, in line with the directive of the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad.

A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, said the crackdown, which was part of ongoing efforts to restore public confidence and enhance internal security, led to the recovery of dangerous weapons and hard drugs.

Hassan said 30 bags of hard drugs suspected to be marijuana and other dangerous weapons were recovered by the police in one of the raids carried out in the Rigasa area on June 13, 2025.

A bag containing 31 rounds of live ammunition of an AK-47 rifle magazine abandoned by suspected criminals during a hot chase at Rafin Guza was also intercepted.

Similarly, police operatives acting on a tip-off arrested two suspected car thieves at Kakuri in Kaduna North Local Government Area. The 35-year-old prime suspect, Ziya Abdullahi, was arrested by police officers while he was attempting to sell a suspected stolen vehicle. His accomplice, one Bashir Usman (aka yellow), was later apprehended.

The police said some of the suspects have been charged to court. Others are currently undergoing a thorough investigation and will be charged to court if found culpable per the law.

Kate Middleton’s firm command for Prince Louis on palace balcony exposed by lip reader

As the royal family took to the balcony of Buckingham Palace for the RAF flypast during today’s Trooping the Colour, Kate had a simple but firm instruction for her youngest son, according to a lip reader

As the royal family made their highly-anticipated appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony during today’s Trooping the Colour, Princess Kate seemingly had a simple but firm command for Prince Louis. The young royal was on his best behaviour during the King’s birthday celebrations, despite many hoping that his signature cheeky antics would once again be on display.

Although Louis was mostly kept in check by his siblings George and Charlotte, Princess Kate did have to issue one simple instruction, according to lip reader Jeremy Freeman. As the royals took their pride of place before they headed back inside Buckingham Palace after the Red Arrows flypast, the lip reader claims that Kate had to instruct Louis to call to attention for the national anthem.

Freeman exclusively told The Mirror that the young royal was looking restless as the festivities drew to a close, prompting Kate to say to her children: “National anthem. Louis, stand.” Louis then straightened his posture and focused for the signing of the national anthem.

Elsewhere on the balcony, King Charles and Prince William apprently remarked on what a spectacular day it had been, praising the military parade and the Red Arrows stunning aerial show.

According to Freeman, William turned to his father at the conclusion of the RAF flypast and said: “Oh my word, what a day,” to which Charles replied: “Great theatre.”

During another wholesome moment on the balcony, the three generations had a candid chat about the aircraft featured during the flypast.

Freeman said that while William was having a conversation with Kate, King Charles interrupted to say: “What is that?” as he pointed to an aircraft flying over the balcony.

William responded to his father, further asking: “Errr is that Poseidon?” Prince George then stepped in to the conversation, confirming: “It’s a Poseidon, yeah.”

It comes as upon the conclusion of the King’s birthday festivities, the royal family shared a series of videos showcasing the highlights of the day. In a short video posted by William and Kate, William is seen leaving the Palace in his military garb and mounting his horse for the procession, while Kate, George, Charlotte and Louis climbed into the carriage to make their way to the Mall.

King Charles and Queen Camilla also posted a compilation video, which was shared on the official Royal Family social media accounts, showing the royals piling into their carriages for the procession, the impressive Red Arrows flypast, and King Charles even feeding a carrot to one of the horses pulling the carriage.

In the caption of the video, the King and Queen thanked the military personnel who made the day “truly triumphant”. This year marks the third Trooping the Colour parade of Charles’ reign.

BBC Radio 2 star Jo Whiley reveals reason her kids will never be nepo-babies

BBC Radio 2 icon Jo Whiley has insisted her children will never use her name to benefit their own careers as she revealed their ‘horrified’ reaction to nepo-baby claims

BBC Radio 2 host Jo Whiley has admitted her children are “horrified” at being called nepo-babies as she insisted they will never take advantage of her star power. The radio star, 59, has created an incredible career on the airwaves spanning three decades.

She has been on air since 1993 and presented her own BBC Radio 1 show from 2001 to 2009. Jo has since moved over to BBC Radio 2 and has become the face of the BBC’s Glastonbury coverage.

Her impressive jobs mean Jo has rubbed shoulders with some huge names including Madonna, George Michael and David Bowie and has even introduced her children to some “very, very cool people”. However, Jo, who shares her four children with music executive Steve Morton, has insisted they won’t benefit from her connections.

Jo says India, 33, Jude, 26, Cassius, 24, and Coco, 16, are not nepo-babies(Image: INSTAGRAM)

Jo’s kids India, 33, Jude, 26, Cassius, 24, and Coco, 16, are keen to make their own way in the world and not rely on their famous mum for a leg up. In recent years there has been huge debate over children of famous parents gaining opportunities due to their family connections rather than their solely their own talent or hard work.

Jo told the Sun: “My kids will never be nepo babies. They are very determined never ever to make it because I’m their mum.” She admitted: “It really horrifies them – the thought that anybody would ever employ them because of what I do.

“So they’re so determined to get jobs and do work on their own merits, and they will never take advantage of me at all.” The radio star insisted her four children will “never” use her name to get them somewhere.

Jo and youngest daughter Coco are among the lucky ones who’ve managed to bag tickets to see Oasis live this year – something she never thought she’d see. “I said Oasis would never get back together again, so I’m not going to predict anything!” she told OK! Magazine.

“Coco’s so excited about seeing them, and it’s kind of given me a renewed love of them too, so I’m really excited about going to see them. It’ll be very emotional for everybody who goes, and it’ll also be interesting to see how the boys are on stage these days.”

Over the summer, Jo will also mark her 60th birthday. She is planning to have her family come together to celebrate at her Northamptonshire home.

“I’m having a barn dance,” she revealed. “I did it 10 years ago, so I thought I might as well do it again. We’ll have a big old hoedown – cowboy boots, gingham, the lot.

“Or maybe I’ll be Calamity Jane. I’m definitely dressing up. We have lots of parties and people always get dressed up. We’ve got the most insane fancy dress emporium above the garage, with many boxes of costumes we’ve worn over the years. I could open a fancy dress shop!”

She even counts Coldplay frontman Chris Martin as one of her close friends, and revealed he’s always on hand when she needs a pep talk. “If ever I’ve had a tough time or something’s going on, I’ve often turned to Chris, and he’s really good at dispensing advice,” she shared.

“He tells me to just chill out. He’s wise. I can’t think of any particular piece of advice because they’re often like long poems.”

Pogacar wins second Dauphine stage to retain lead

Slovenia’s Tadej Pogacar consolidated his lead at the Criterium du Dauphine with a second consecutive stage victory in France.

The reigning Tour de France and road world champion went clear 12 kilometres from the finish on the final ascent of Saturday’s 132km ‘Queen Stage’ from Grand-Aigueblanche to Valmeinier.

Slovenia’s Pogacar eventually finished 14 seconds ahead of his closest rival, Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard.

The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider had taken the yellow jersey with a dominant victory in Friday’s stage six and the 26-year-old now holds a lead of one minute and one second over the Visma-Lease a Bike man going into Sunday’s final stage.

“I launched it and maintained a good pace to the top,” said Pogacar after securing his 98th career stage win, moving ahead of French sprinter Arnaud Demare for the most by an active rider.

“Today Jonas was really strong. I did not want to go too deep myself. It was a super hot and long climb. Luckily, I had enough time to ease up in the last kilometres and recovered.”

“Happy I could defend the jersey like this.”

Germany’s Florian Lipowitz was third in the stage but is two minutes and 21 seconds behind Pogacar while Remco Evenepoel lost more time and is now fourth overall, a further one minute and 50 seconds back.

‘One of the best upcoming midfielders’ – Nypan to excite Man City fans

Getty Images

Manchester City have agreed a £12.5m fee to sign 18-year-old midfielder Sverre Nypan from Norwegian side Rosenborg – and City fans have every reason to be excited about the potential latest addition.

Teenager Nypan has represented his country at youth levels up to and including under-21s, and it is expected he will go on a season-long loan for the 2025-26 campaign.

Nevertheless, the planned signing of the highly rated Nypan is a sign of City looking to the future.

His arrival would come after the recent June signings of left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri, winger Rayan Cherki, midfielder Tijjani Reijnders and goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli.

“Sverre Nypan has been regarded as one of the best talents in Norway and been playing at a very high level despite being so young,” said Norwegian journalist Andreas Korssund.

“He’s been looked at as the next big thing from the Norwegian league, so it’s not a surprise he’s securing such a big move. The surprise maybe is he’s coming to City at such a young age.

Comparisons with Arsenal’s Odegaard

Followers of Norwegian football have witnessed a rapid rise for Nypan, who made his first-team debut at Rosenborg aged 15.

He has made a big impression in Norway over the past two seasons, winning the top-tier Eliteserien Young Player of the Year award in both 2023 and 2024.

He has largely been used as a central midfielder but can operate as an attacking midfield, winger or in a centre-forward role, too, and is comfortable using either foot, is quick, a good dribbler and able to take on and beat a defender.

In 70 appearances for Rosenborg, he has scored 14 goals and contributed 11 assists.

With him playing in the same position and being from the same country, there have been inevitable comparisons with Arsenal and Norway midfielder Martin Odegaard, who also made his debut in the Norwegian top flight aged 15.

“Both are technically skilled and have good passing abilities,” said Korssund. “Odegaard might be more of a dribbler, while Nypan is more someone who controls the game from midfield.

‘A massive future ahead of him’

Nypan played 28 of 30 league matches last year, scoring eight goals to become the club’s joint second highest scorer of the campaign, with his first senior hat-trick coming in August during Rosenborg’s 4-0 home victory over Lillestrom.

Those goals helped Rosenborg finish fourth and secure a place in Conference League qualifying, after they had missed out on European football last year when finishing eighth in 2023.

Nypan made his debut in a 4-2 away win over Jerv on 6 November 2022, six weeks before his 16th birthday in one of two appearances in that season.

The following year was his breakthrough campaign.

In 2023, he made 17 league starts, plus six substitute appearances, and also featured in three matches in Conference League qualifying.

He played in the 3-2 win over Northern Irish side Crusaders and then impressed during both legs of the third qualifying round tie with Hearts.

Nypan, then only 16, set up a goal in Rosenborg’s 2-1 first-leg win, but the Norwegians lost 3-1 at Tynecastle as the Scottish side scraped through 4-3 on aggregate thanks to a last-minute winner from Cameron Devlin.

After that first leg, then Hearts head coach Frankie McAvoy felt Nypan had everything needed to reach the top, saying: “We knew he was a special player and he showed that.

“He also appears to have a good head on his shoulders and when you can do what he does in the final third by creating scoring chances then you have a big opportunity to be successful.

Man City set to win race for in-demand teenager

It was not long after his emergence before Nypan was catching the eye of Europe’s big clubs.

Norway’s TV2 reported in August 2023 that scouts from Manchester United had watched Nypan, but Rosenborg boss Alfred Johansson praised the youngster’s attitude, stating: “He focuses on enjoying football and training every day.

“It’s very impressive, and that’s how it should be, but not everyone would have been able to do it. That is strong of Sverre.”

Arsenal were interested in the teenager in January 2025 and again this summer, with Aston Villa another one of the sides heavily linked with him, before Pep Guardiola’s City had a bid accepted.

The transfer window reopens on Monday when the deal could be completed and it would be a record sale for Rosenborg, beating the £8.5m they received when striker John Carew went to Valencia in 2001.

City are in the United States, with matches in the Club World Cup against Moroccan side Wydad AC on 18 June (17:00 BST), Al Ain of United Arab Emirates on 23 June (02:00 BST) and then Italian side Juventus on 26 June (20:00 BST).

If Guardiola’s side make it to the knockout stage, there is a brief window, from 27 June to 3 July, where they can add two players to their squad list for the later stages of the tournament, so Nypan could make his City debut then.

He would become the third Norwegian player at Etihad Stadium, joining up with striker Erling Haaland, 24, and attacking midfielder Oscar Bobb, 21.

Korssund felt it would take Nypan a while to settle in at City, but he predicted he could get to the very top.

“It’s a big step for him to go to the Premier League, so he’ll need time to adjust before becoming a starter,” said Korssund. “But I have no doubt City have secured one of the best upcoming midfielders in the world.
