Louis Tomlinson and Sam Thompson held a Soccer Aid ‘peace dinner’ before the charity match kicks off today at Old Trafford, according to reports. The pair have been training together for the star-studded game, despite the One Direction star. 33, now dating Sam’s ex, Zara McDermott, 28.

Unfortunately, Sam, 32, has had to pull out of the match – which will see the likes of Wayne Rooney and Jill Scott take to the pitch in Manchester – after injuring himself while making a mega journey by bike and foot from Stamford Bridge to Old Trafford for Unicef last week. However, he’s still very much part of Soccer Aid and the management team and will be cheering on his famous teammates from the sidelines.

Claiming he organised a dinner with Louis and the rest of the team at posh country house Champneys in Hertfordshire ahead of the match today, a source told The Sun the pair are determined not to let their love lives interfere with the day.

They said: “There is no beef between the pair and they’re both going to ensure their love lives don’t distract from such a big charity spectacle.

“They are fully aware that their every move is being scrutinised and they’ve broken bread with their teammates, so it’ll be smooth sailing on the day.”

Sam and Zara called it quits late last year before the Love Islander moved on with Louis. Sam was said to be ‘blindsided’ by the move and appeared to make a sly dig at his ex when he was discussing his love life with best pal, Pete Wicks.

Hinting that Zara may have moved on too soon, he said: “I suppose a lot of people look for validation in other people right? And they look for the next person instantly because it’s like ‘I need to find someone else to fill that hole and I need to find that excitement.'”

Explaining that he was asked about coming face to face with Louis at Soccer Aid, he told Pete recently: “At the end of the interview, he goes, ‘Look mate, I’ve got to ask the question that everyone wants to know.

“This is sort of the big question really, the elephant in the room, What’s it going to be like with you and Louis? Obviously he’s doing Soccer Aid too.'”

Sam continued: “Mate, you should have seen the room, everybody, it was a silent then everyone goes ‘Woah, Woah Woah, end the call! End the call!’ and I have just gone ‘No, no guys, I’ve got this, I’ve got this.’ I held my hands up to say just relax.

“I think I did alright and I meant everything I said as well, that it’s not about me or Louis or who anyone is dating, it’s f**king Unicef and charity and everyone is going to be there for the exact same reason.”

Melania’s true feelings about Donald Trump parade – as he ‘falls asleep’ on camera

Body language expert Judi James has revealed what the First Lady was really thinking during her husband’s birthday parade over the weekend

A body language expert has revealed what Melania Trump was really thinking during her husband’s military parade on Saturday, which marked the US President’s 79th birthday and the 250th anniversary of the American Army.

The 55-year-old First Lady stunned in a white pinstripe skirt power suit. While her husband donned his usual attire – a navy suit, white shirt and red tie – for the special ceremony which took place outside the White House.

In a rare public display of affection, Melania held Donald’s hand during the parade and smiled throughout. But body language expert Judi James thinks her communication with her husband “suggests some tension” between the couple.

She observed: “Her left hand seems to perform a small ritual that suggests inner tension, or she lifts it to preen her hair as it wafts in the breeze. When Trump is seated, it looks like another day in the White House office.

“While Melania performs a wide, Duchenne smile, his smile is the lip-clamped, acknowledging version and his posture slumps as he rests his elbows on his thighs and splays his knees with his hands forming a downward steeple gesture.”

The expert further noted to Daily Mail.com that Melania was “more rigid” than her husband and “almost mirroring the military pose of Pete Hegseth on Trump’s other side.”

Though on the rare occasion Donald does talk to her, Judi noted Melania – who has been married to Trump for 20 years – “becomes more animated, leaning quickly sideways to listen and smile.”

But it seemed the ceremony might have been a bit too long for the President, as a photo of him apparently catching forty winks went viral on social media.

A snap circulating on X, previously known as Twitter, shows a seated Trump with his eyes shut, seemingly dozing while the military procession continued. And critics didn’t hesitate to poke fun at Trump nodding off, with some calling it a ‘disgrace’.

“Trump seen falling asleep at his own birthday military parade,” one user posted on the social media site. Another jested: “It was past his bedtime”, as a third ribbed: “This mutha sucka couldn’t even stay awake at his empty birthday parade. Chile, bye! #DemUnited #NoKingsParade #TrumpisaNationalDisgrace.”

A fourth remarked: “Falling asleep again, on his Birthday. No this is not at Pope inauguration. The military parade that he desperately wanted, and Americans paid millions for… So disrespectful of the US Military. Disgrace.”

But it wasn’t just Trump’s apparent snoozing that hit the headlines. Thousands of protests sprung up across the country against Trump’s authoritarian tendencies – under the banner ‘No Kings’, which also put a literal damper on the proceedings.

To add to the drama, protesters gathered to make their dissent heard against the festivities. Overshadowing the parade, was a towering, eight-foot-tall effigy of Trump sat on a toilet.

It comes as Trump threatened to respond at ‘levels never seen before’ if Iran attacks the US, sparking fears of World War Three.

At least nine people are dead and more than 100 have reportedly been injured after Iran launched a barrage of missile strikes at Israel overnight, in retaliation for Israel’s Friday strikes. Those killed range in age from 10 to 80 years old.

Israel also launched overnight strikes, hitting the Iranian Ministry of Defense headquarters in Tehran. The Israeli military said it had targeted other locations that “advanced” Iran’s nuclear program, setting it back possibly by years.

Distancing his administration from the attacks, Trump said Washington had no role to play in the escalating trouble as he issued a warning to Tehran not to bring his country into the conflict.

UFC: Dvalishvili keeps bantamweight title vs O’Malley; Usman beats Buckley

Merab Dvalishvili has effortlessly defeated Sean O’Malley in the main event of the Mixed Martial Art’s (MMA) Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 316 night in New Jersey, United States (US), securing a third-round modified choke win in their rematch to retain the bantamweight championship.

With United States President Donald Trump watching from cageside on Saturday, Dvalishvili (win-loss record of 20-4 MMA) emphatically displayed his wrestling base to tire out the former champion and make an argument as one of the sport’s best bantamweights, perhaps of all time.

Dvalishvili, who won at 4:42 of the third round for his 13th consecutive victory, said he would welcome his next title defence against Cory Sandhagen (win-loss record of 18-5 in MMA), a winner of four of his last five fights.

“You’re the man, let’s go,” Dvalishvili said, indicating that he would be interested in fighting Sandhagen next.

O’Malley confirmed the loss is a minor setback, reassuring of a steady return. “100 percent, thank you guys for coming out,” he said.

The women’s bantamweight title changed hands in the co-main event, as Kayla Harrison submitted Julianna Pena with a second-round kimura.

Harrison and Pena embraced in the Octagon afterwards, showing utmost class for one another after Harrison controlled every aspect of the fight. Harrison said during her post-fight interview that her weight cut was so draining on Thursday night that she “wanted to quit”, but it would have been a mistake in her eyes, given that most fighters in MMA do not win a UFC title.

Former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt fell short against Raoni Barcelos in a lacklustre affair by unanimous decision, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28.

In middleweight action, Mansur Abdul-Malik earned a technical decision over Cody Brundage 30-27, 29-28, 29-28. Abdul-Malik nearly had a third-round total knockout 36 seconds in, but an accidental clash of heads changed the direction of the fight, thus needing the judges to intervene.

Later, at UFC Fight Night in Atlanta, Kamaru Usman returned to winning ways as he defeated Joaquin Buckley 49-46, 49-46, 48-47 in a unanimous decision in the main event.

“Those knockouts will come,” Usman said after his win. “I just needed to get that monkey off my back.”

The first two rounds of the headline welterweight attraction saw Usman (win-loss record of 21-4 in MMA) pitch the equivalent of a shutout, effortlessly taking Buckley (win-loss record of 21-7 in MMA) down and utilising his ground-and-pound to outstrike the St Louis, US, native 16-0 in the significant strikes category.

Round 3 started strong for Buckley as he found his striking range before Usman achieved his third takedown in four attempts. Round 4 was primarily on the feet, as Buckley landed his best combinations of the fight but could not secure a comeback finish. Usman took Buckley down again, securing the back mount position as the round ended.

Round 5 saw both men trade blows, but it was too little, too late for Buckley, who had a six-fight unbeaten streak snapped. It was Usman’s first win since he held the title in November 2021.

Buckley was gracious in defeat, suffering his first loss at welterweight.

“We’re just getting started, baby,” Buckley said. “We’ll be back.”

The co-main event also needed the cards, as former two-time strawweight champion Rose Namajunas earned a highly competitive unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28 over Miranda Maverick.

In middleweight, Edmen Shahbazyan nearly finished Andre Petroski with a would-be third-round total knockout before walking away with a unanimous decision, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28. The win marked Shahbazyan’s first stretch of back-to-back wins since 2019, his first decision win since 2018.

Backless dresses are a pretty big trend at the moment, but going braless or without shapewear simply isn’t an option for most of us. However, Lisa’s hack has saved the day. The hack involves wearing a stick on bra, like Marks & Spencer’s Wired Stick On Strapless Winged Bra. This is then combined with Wacoal’s clever Hourglass Thigh Shaper, which dips at the back meaning the fabric won’t be seen when wearing your backless dress. Plus the shapewear skims all the lumps and bumps you don’t want showing and helps create a gorgeaous silhouette.

Ellie Taylor addresses her future on Ted Lasso as she launches feminist travel campaign

Ted Lasso was confirmed to be returning for a fourth season in March this year, but will Strictly Come Dancing star Ellie Taylor be reprising her role of Sassy alongside Jason Sudeikis?

Ted Lasso star Ellie Taylor is on a mission to shake up the male, pale, and stale travel TV landscape

Actress and comedian Ellie Taylor has revealed whether or not she will be returning for the new series of Ted Lasso. The Strictly Come Dancing star appeared alongside Jason Sudeikis in all three seasons of the popular Apple TV series.

Ted Lasso wrapped things up, seemingly for good, in May 2023, but it was announced in March that the Emmy award-winning series will be returning for a fourth series, with executive producer Jason set to reprise his titular role of the American AFC Richmond coach.

Announcing the surprise series, Jason, 49, said: “As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap’, in season four the folks at AFC Richmond learn to leap before they look, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”

Among the other stars of Ted Lasso are comedian Nick Mohammed, Juno Temple, Phil Dunster and Game Of Thrones star Hannah Waddingham. Ellie – who is working with Intrepid Travel to campaign for more female-fronted travel shows – played the supporting role of Flo ‘Sassy’ Collins, best friend of Hannah’s character Rebecca Welton.

Ellie Taylor may not be returning to Ted Lasso but she is off on her travels

Hannah has revealed she is reprising her role as the owner of AFC Richmond when the fourth series begins shooting in July, but will Sassy be by Rebecca’s side once again? Ellie isn’t sure.

Article continues below

“Oh, I have no idea,” Ellie admitted earlier this week when asked if she was returning to the hit Apple TV series. “I mean, I know as much as you do about Ted Lasso. I’m delighted that it’s coming back and I’ll be avidly watching for sure.”

“I can’t imagine anyone who was involved with the original series would not want to go back,” Ellie mused when quizzed on if she wants to play Sassy one more time. “It was a joy to be a part of. I feel really lucky to have been part of such a show that is so well regarded and mean so much to so many people.”

Ellie may not be filming (yet) but she’s keeping busy with a mammoth task – trying to shake up the male, pale and stale world of travel TV. The comedian has teamed up with Intrepid Travel to back a campaign for more women fronting travel shows.

According to Intrepid Travel, less than a quarter (23%) of travel programmes commissioned last year were hosted solely by female presenters, despite almost half of women wanting to have some representation on screen to highlight the unique issues female travellers can experience.

‘We’re also starting a conversation about what needs to change’

“I’ve spent my career challenging outdated attitudes, and travel TV is long overdue for a shake-up. It’s wild that last year in 2024 only 23% of travel shows were hosted by women, despite the fact that so many women are passionate about travel, exploration, and storytelling. Intrepid found 48% of people consider travel to be a male-dominated industry, but it shouldn’t be!” Ellie said of her new gig.

“I’m thrilled to be partnering with Intrepid Travel to shine a light on this issue – and to do it in a way that makes people laugh while still making a serious point. We’re not just calling out the disparity, we’re also starting a conversation about what needs to change, and hopefully, inspiring networks to rethink who they put in the spotlight.”

In a bid to inspire commissioners to cater to the real interests of audiences, Intrepid Travel has teamed up with TV producer Nicola Hebden (known for Travel Man and Jack Whitehall: Travels With My Father) to devise a proposal for an innovative new travel series – Travel Ann.

The programme will follow Ellie as she encounters remarkable women across the globe who have committed their lives to effecting significant change in their local communities. These are women who are pushing boundaries and redefining leadership within the realms of travel and conservation.

Article continues below

In one suggested episode, Ellie spends time with The Black Mambas – the world’s first and only all-female, unarmed anti-poaching unit – who are safeguarding endangered wildlife and inspiring a new wave of female conservationists.

Travel Ann is in the process of being pitched to major UK TV networks for a 6 episode run. Further information on the TV series can be found here.
