U21s success would boost British coaches – Carsley

Lee Carsley, England’s under-21 manager, thinks that improving the reputation of British coaches after Spain defeats them at Euro 2025.

The Young Lions coach says reaching the semi-finals will do just that and improve the chances of homegrown coaches.

On Saturday night in Trnava, Slovakia, they take on Spain in the quarter-finals, hoping to reclaim the title Carsley led them to two years ago.

Santi Denia, the manager of Spain, wants to help his nation reach its fifth successive semi-final at under-21 level, but Carsley thinks victory would demonstrate what British coaches can accomplish.

Carsley, who signed a new agreement to carry him through to Euro 2027 before the tournament, said, “It’s a great chance for us to improve our reputation.”

“We talk about British coaches getting more opportunities, and it helps not just myself but British coaches in general if a British coach can compete against a Spanish coach and the team can perform really well.”

Although I’m not sure if I’m flying the flag, it’s important that when kids watch the under-21s at home, they’re excited about their performance.

Because you know what we’ve done in the past has resulted in this position, we want to see real attacking football and aggressive football.

Netanyahu biggest obstacle to regional peace, says Erdogan at OIC meeting

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the “biggest obstacle to regional peace,” according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoan, and Israeli attacks on Iran right before a new round of nuclear talks with the United States were intended to sabotage the talks.

Erdogan urged nations with influence over Israel to stop “peisoning” its “poison” and to seek a resolution through dialogue without allowing a new conflict while speaking to Arab League diplomats at an Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting on Saturday in Istanbul.

Israeli attacks on Iran demonstrate that Prime Minister Netanyahu and his administration do not desire diplomatic resolutions, according to Erdogan.

He continued, “Netanyahu’s Zionist ambitions have no other goal besides to plunge our country and the entire world into a terrible disaster.”

Erdogan accused Western leaders of giving Israel “unconditional support.” He claimed that Turkiye would not permit the redrawing of Middle Eastern borders “in blood.”

He stated at the OIC gathering that “it is crucial for us to show more solidarity to put an end to Israel’s banditry … not just in Palestine but also in Syria, Lebanon, and Iran.”

The 57-member OIC, which was established in 1969, claims that its goal is to “protect and defend the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony.”

Hakan Fidan, the foreign minister of Turkey, charged Israel with attacking Iran and sending the Middle East to “total disaster” in a statement before Erdogan.

Israel attacking Iran, our neighbor, is now bringing the region to the brink of total disaster, he claimed. There are no Palestinian, Lebanese, Syrian, Yemeni, or Iranian issues, but Israel is unmistakably a problem, according to the statement.

Sinem Koseoglu, a reporter for Al Jazeera from Istanbul, reported that Turkiye sees himself as the current OIC chair, in good position to help bring about a resolution to the Israeli-Iranian conflict.

It has strong bilateral relations with Iran, the West, and the United States because it is a NATO member state that is wedged between the Muslim and the Western worlds. And it had strong ties to Israel up until recently, she said.

Abbas Araghchi, the foreign minister of Iran, stated on Friday that Israel’s support for Israel would only be possible with the US.

Araghchi stated that Iran is prepared to take up diplomatic relations once more once the aggression is ended and the perpetrator is held accountable for the crimes.

After falling in love with gangster ex-boyfriend Tony Richardson at the age of 16, Jennifer Ellison went through a “traumatic” period in her early years. Here’s how she turned things around.

Soap icon Jennifer Ellison rose to fame as Emily Shadwick in Channel 4’s Liverpool-based show Brookside. Having joined the show aged just 15, she was by her own admission, a “baby”, but she was forced to grow up quickly, after fame and her abusive relationship pushed her abruptly into adulthood.

Her character was killed off during a robbery when she left the show in 2002 when she fell from a window four years later. Her ex-partner’s gang activities were threatening her life, but her personal life had grown more serious than her on-screen saga.

With the actress was dragged into the criminal underworld, she managed to end the relationship when he was unfaithful to her. Since then, she’s turned things around, choosing to live a low-key life away from the world of showbusiness, starting a family, and ultimately achieving “happy ever after.”

Although she happily runs her own business in Liverpool, the star occasionally dabbles showbiz. Over the years, Jennifer had made appearances on reality TV show Hell’s Kitchen, ITV’s Dancing On Ice and most recently Celebrity SAS: Who Dares wins. Here we look at what lead to her peaceful life as a dance studio owner.

Double life

When Jennifer met gangster Tony Richardson in 1999, she was just 16 years old and within 12 months the pair were engaged. However, Jennifer’s older boyfriend, who had a controlling influence over her, also influenced her during her early years, and he abused and abused her. This is a far cry from her glamorous lifestyle, glamour modeling events, and glitzy parties.

Jennifer has since admitted that she was subject to numerous abuse, including a beer bottle smacked over her head and a broken collar bone. In 2013, Jennifer told Cosmopolitan, “The attacks started pretty early in our relationship. It began with mental rather than physical abuse. He would constantly question me about who I was with and where I was, criticize how I looked, and make up accusations that I had flirted with other men.

In front of all of my friends, he slammed me over the head with a beer bottle about six years ago. My face, eyes, hair and mini dress were covered in blood. Tony told me to leave the London club I was in and be chased away by bouncers.

Jennifer, who was willing to change due to his attacks, admitted that she would avoid seeing friends and family when she had bruises. She added:” I can’t tell you how many times I lied to protect him. I told doctors I had fallen because I believed it was my fault when he broke my collarbone in 2005.

Due to Tony’s criminal behavior, Jennifer was constantly looking over her shoulder when they weren’t together. She was embroiled in more violence, from fire-bombings to drive-by shootings. When her partner was discovered having an affair with Shalimar Wimble, the football player’s ex, the turbulent era came to an end.

Jennifer described his unfaithfulness as a “get out of jail free card,” giving that she finally had a reason to leave. Tony was later jailed for eight years after being convicted of a sword attack in Liverpool.

Body image and weight gain

Jennifer’s body image has suffered as a result of her lad’s mags days, which have been under scrutiny. She went up to a size 18 following the births of her children, before slimming down to a size 10 over three months in 2017.

But Jennifer rightfully hit back at her critics. Speaking to Lorraine previously, she explained her weight peaked in 2015 after the birth of her third son. Jennifer declared: “I don’t care about trolls. What I look like is not a priority.” She added: “My husband still looks at me the way he did when I was nine stone, after doing my fitness DVD. I’m happy and feel so loved. He thinks I’m the sexiest woman in the world.

“I’m not worried, because he loves my bum and boobs and finds me as attractive as he always did.” If he turned round and said I didn’t look too good, I would do more about it but he thinks I’m stunning. Love is illuminating.

But in a bid to kick her sugar addiction, she appeared on ITV reality show Sugar Free Farm in 2015 and shed the weight once again. In 2017, she proudly shared her achievement on Instagram: “Ok so today was measurements day! ! ! So proud to say I’ve lost a further massive 6.5 inches of body fat in a month! And today I felt brave enough to take a pic after training without a big baggy top over! ! ! I’ve gone from a size 18 to a 10 in just over 3 months.”

She continued, “I still have a long way to go before I can get back to where I was,” adding, “I feel SO much better now that I’ve lost 2 stone and 27 inches of body fat!” Thanks to the most amazing trainer ever Tony Swift for keeping our sessions amazing and challenging and to my training partner Rob Tickle who’s absolutely smashing the results too”.

Reality TV’s “therpay”

Although it appeared as though she had let her trauma-plagued past behind her, participating in 2022’s Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins exposed old wounds as she battled her demons. Jennifer opened up to former Commando Jason “Foxy” Fox in the show’s famous mirror room, admitting her life with Tony left her feeling worthless.

He was connected to this other world, this gangland world, she explained at the time, explaining that it was a volatile relationship. I believed that everything in the world I was in was normal, and bad things like that happened to everyone.

I was walking down the street because I had nails in my letterbox, went into hiding, and feared for my life. That is not typical. It’s just been one of those things that I kind of buried, just kind of got on with life and got on with everything.

“I remember how traumatizing it was. What I was going through was so horrifying. I was such a young girl, I was a baby. I want to look in the mirror room and confess that that is where I’ve lived. It was like having the best therapy ever.

Jennifer’s happy ever after

Jennifer’s life has changed since she split from Tony, and now she can concentrate on her dance school and family. In 2008, Jennifer and boxer Rob Tickle tied the knot in Mauritius.

They’ve been happily married ever since and Jen has become a mother to their three sons, Bobby, 12, Harry, seven, and Charlie, six. Sophie and Chloe, both 24 years old, are her stepmother to them.

Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family, participating in productions, and going to the movies. She regularly shares their trips on social media.

Recently, Jennifer shared her skiing trip with her boys, writing: “The most magical trip ever, with the bestest people you will ever meet! Never in a million years did I think I would enjoy something so much and even more so because I watched my boys have the time of their lives, skiing, making snow balls, sledging, playing darts, UNO, snap they did it all not a phone in sight and wow was it a dream! Memories that will last a lifetime time, a trip we will never forget”

And after 17 years of dating, she and Rob are flourishing. The couple recently spent some child-free time together in the Scottish Highlands, where they ate delicious-looking food and explored the outdoors.

Jennifer expressed her gratitude for the most beautiful time she and her partner had spent together in a series of photos. We had a wonderful time together, celebrating our 17th anniversary together, and enjoyed spending quality time with just us.

” So lucky to have you and can’t wait for the rest of our lives together. I’ll always and forever be with you @tickle. “rob. “

UK Parliament approves assisted dying bill: How would it work?

A bill to legalize assisted dying for people who are terminally ill has received a narrow majority in the British parliament, marking a significant step in social reform’s history.

The legislation cleared its biggest parliamentary hurdle with a vote of 314-291 on Friday in the House of Commons, which will now face months of scrutiny in the House of Lords, the country’s upper chamber.

The Lords may decide to consider further amendments as a result of the process, but the upper house is typically reluctant to veto legislation that has been approved by elected members of parliament in the Commons.

After many hours of heated discussion in the chamber, which included references to personal accounts, Friday’s vote took place. Following a vote in November that had essentially approved the legislation, it came.

Prior to that, the House of Commons voted against legalizing assisted dying in 2015.

The assisted dying bill contains what exactly?

The “Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life)” Bill grants to mentally competent, terminally ill adults in England and Wales the option to end their lives with medical care.

After receiving a recommendation from doctors, a panel consisting of a social worker, a senior legal figure, and a psychiatrist, patients will be required to be able to take fatal drugs on their own.

A healthcare professional or another person administers a lethal injection at a patient’s request in contrast to euthanasia, which is different.

A person who assists a terminally ill person in ending their life may face a police investigation, a prosecution, and a maximum prison sentence of up to 14 years in accordance with current law.

The original draft of the new bill was modified to include the creation of a disability advisory board and the appointment of independent advocates to assist those who have learning disabilities, autism, or other mental health conditions.

Logistics must still be considered, including whether the practice or any of the services that support it would be integrated into the National Health Service (NHS) or operated as a separate entity provided by third parties.

Northern Ireland and Scotland, both of which are holding their own votes on the issue, will not be affected by the bill.

What justifications exist for assisted dying?

People with terminal diagnoses, who have a choice between reducing or not reducing their suffering, will be given dignity and compassion, according to those who support the bill.

The bill’s author, Labour MP Kim Leadbeater, claimed that people with terminal illnesses should have access to the same rights that give women the ability to choose an abortion.

She said, “I will fight for the rights of dying people as much as I will fight for the rights of disabled people to be treated better by society.”

While the wealthy can travel abroad to access the services, according to some bill-proponents, the current law discriminates against the poor, who could face legal punishment for helping their loved ones pass away.

Peter Bedford, a Conservative MP, objected to this perception. At least one British person travels to Switzerland for an assisted death every week for £12, 000 ($16, 100),” he said. This bill is about shortening death, not shortening life.

Maureen Burke, a Labour MP, mentioned the pancreatic cancer that her brother David had. She said, “He could never have known that I would ever have the chance to stand in this place and ask my coworkers to help him avoid what he went through.” By speaking here today, I have done my brother a favor.

According to opinion polls, the majority of Britons support assisted dying. The vote, according to Sarah Wootton, CEO of the UK-based Dignity in Dying campaign, “sent a clear message” and that “parliament stands with the public and change is coming”

Although there is no set date for the bill’s implementation, implementation must begin within the first four years of its passage, according to the legislation.

What are opponents’ opinions?

Opponents worry that those who are vulnerable could be forced to end their lives or feel pressured to do so out of fear of burdening their families and society.

As the vote was scheduled for Friday, protesters rallied outside parliament and erected banners to urge politicians to abstain from the state-run health service, the NHS, as the “National Suicide Service.”

Following the initial vote last year, several MPs withdrew their support for the bill, claiming safeguards had been weakened. The removal of the requirement that a judge approve any decision was one of the most significant changes to the bill from November last. The most recent vote was cast with a majority of 23 votes, which was a decrease from the 55 majority (330 to 275 votes) in November.

The bill was “deeply flawed and dangerous,” according to Care Not Killing, an organization that opposes the law change, and argued that politicians weren’t given enough time to consider its implications.

“Over 130 amendments to the bill, or less than five minutes per change, were discussed by members of Parliament in less than 10 hours.” Does anyone believe that this is the ideal time to change a draft law’s literal definition of “life and death”? Gordon Macdonald, the group’s CEO, said.

Opponents also raised questions about how assisted dying might affect the state-run NHS’ finances, whether it might be able to halt requests to fund palliative care improvements, and how it might affect the relationship between doctors and patients.

Tanni Grey-Thompson, a disabled MP and paralympic medallist, is one of the legislation’s staunch opponents. She claimed in an interview with Sky News that no one should experience a “terrible death” without receiving specialist palliative care.

Because of the cost of health and social care, “I’m really worried that disabled people have no other choice but to end their lives,” she said.

In a number of nations, assisted dying laws have been passed. According to Dignity in Dying, about 300 million people worldwide have legal access to this option.

The Isle of Man became the first country in the British Isles to pass an assisted dying law that allows terminally ill people with a 12-month or less prognosis to choose to end their lives in March.

In 1942, Switzerland became the first nation in the world to allow assisted dying with the condition that the end goal isn’t selfish.

There is some legalized assisted dying practiced in Europe, including in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, and Austria.

The practice is known as “physician-assisted dying” and is permitted in ten states in the United States, while it has been legal in every state since 2022 in Australia.

Ecuador opted to decriminalise euthanasia and assisted suicide in 2024, while Colombia legalized euthanasia for terminally ill adult patients in Latin America in 2014.

One of the world’s most tolerant assisted dying systems is found in Canada. In 2016, it introduced MAID, or Medical Assistance for Adults with Terminal Illness. The requirement of having a terminal illness was eliminated in 2021, and it is now weighing whether to also accept those with mental illnesses.

Which other nations are considering making it legal?

In Scotland, a bill regulating assisted dying is being considered. It received its initial approval in May, but before it can become law, it will require two more parliamentary scrutiny rounds.

A bill that would allow some people who are in the final stages of terminal illness to access assisted dying has been supported by French President Emmanuel Macron. The Senate will now read that before the lower house, following a second reading that the National Assembly approved in May.
