Once-in-a-decade UN conference on development aid kicks off in Spain

In Seville, Spain’s southern city, the United Nations Conference on Financing Development will be held in response to the significant financial loss caused by the funding cut announced by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

From Monday through Thursday, the once-in-a-decade event will focus on pressing global issues like hunger, poverty, climate change, healthcare, and peace.

In Seville, world leaders including Kenyan President William Ruto, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

The event’s fourth edition features more than 4, 000 business, civil society, and financial institution representatives.

However, the US, the group’s principal player, is stifling the discussions as a result of President Donald Trump’s decision to reduce funding shortly after taking office in January.

On the eve of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, June 29, 2025, people march in Seville, Spain, demanding a UN-led framework for sovereign debt resolution.

More than 80% of all USAID programs were cancelled, according to US State Secretary Marco Rubio in March.

Additionally, Trump is imposing higher defense spending on NATO members against the wishes of Germany, the UK, and France.

However, the string of developmental aid cuts is concerning, according to Oxfam International, a global organization for advocacy, which claim to have been the biggest since 1960.

The UN also estimates $4 trillion as the size of the growing funding gap for development.

Seville Commitment

The 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were approved at the previous meeting in 2015, and are expected to be accomplished by 2030, according to the conference organizers.

The SDGs, which include eradicating poverty and hunger, seem unlikely to be realized in five years due to the shrinking development aid.

A common declaration, which was put forth earlier in June in New York, pledges to support the UN’s development goals of improving gender equality and reforming international financial institutions.

Chola Milambo, Zambia’s permanent representative to the UN, claimed the document demonstrated that multilateralism can still be effective in achieving the development goals and that the world can overcome the financial obstacles that face them.

Everything you need to know about Bob Vylan’s IDF chant as BBC faces ‘prosecution’ calls

The BBC has been told to “must explain” why it didn’t stop chanting “death to the IDF” at Saturday’s Glastonbury show from Pro-Palestine act Bob Vylan.

The BBC could be prosecuted over rapper Bob Vylan’s “appalling” comments after he called for the death of Israeli soldiers at Glastonbury. The corporation has been told it must explain why it failed to cut away from the rap duo’s live set after the band led chants of “death to the IDF” on Saturday.

After criticizing the “appalling hate speech” in which the Pro-Palestine band also sung chants “from the river to the sea, Palestine must be, will be, free” on the festival’s West Holts Stage, Prime Minister Keir Starmer also demanded answers from the BBC.

Before the BBC eventually removed Vylan’s set, it was uploaded to iPlayer and remained there for more than five hours. The organization did, however, issue a warning about “very strong and discriminatory language.”

Danny Cohen, a former director of the BBC, predicted that the failure to cut away from the rapper would “shiver in the Jewish community of the UK”

According to a BBC spokesman, “some of the comments made during Bob Vylan’s set were incredibly offensive. A warning was posted on screen about the very strong and discriminatory language used during this livestream on iPlayer, which reflected what was happening on stage. No intention is being made to provide the performance on demand.

Why might the BBC face legal challenges?

After Bob Vylan’s performance was live-streamed on the BBC’s iPlayer site, Keir Starmer claimed that the BBC had “serious questions to answer.” Following the rapper’s chanting “death, death to the IDF”-referring to the Israeli Defence Force that was performed by punk duo Boby Vylan during their performance, the organization could face an investigation into whether it has broken public order laws.

Broadcasting information that calls for the death of a person or group is prohibited under the Public Order Act of 1986. It can serve a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.

The BBC may have “broadcast unlawful material,” according to Lord Carlile, despite the free speech and anti-Israel sentiments that are made.

The top attorney added, “I would be interested to know whether the BBC sought legal counsel, and if so, what that legal counsel was.” They may have broadcast unlawful content under section 22 of the Public Order Act, which I find very troubling.

After the comments were broadcast, and what transpired during Kneecap’s set, Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp demanded that the organization be subject to a police investigation. He claimed that the BBC “violates the law” by broadcasting Bob Vylan’s vile hatred. I urge the police to conduct an immediate investigation and prosecution.

The police are conducting an investigation.

Detectives from Avon and Somerset Police, who are tasked with policing Glastonbury, are currently reviewing the performance’s footage. The police force stated that “we are aware of the remarks made this afternoon by acts at Glastonbury Festival’s West Holts Stage.”

Officers will examine video evidence to determine whether any crimes might have presupposed a criminal investigation have been committed.

A spokesperson for the government said they “strongly condemn” Bob Vylan’s threatening remarks at Glastonbury. The Culture Secretary thanked the decision to re-broadcast the performance to BBC iPlayer and stated that she had spoken to the BBC Director General to request an urgent explanation of what due diligence was done.

What is the statement of Glastonbury?

Emily Eavis, the rapper’s hostess at Glastonbury, wrote in a statement that the comments “crossed a line.” There is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech, or incitement to violence, she wrote, “Their chants very much crossed a line, and we are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the Festival.”

While “as a festival, we stand against all forms of war and terrorism – we will always believe in – and actively campaign for – hope, unity, peace, and love,” she continued, adding that a performer’s comments “should never be seen as a tacit endorsement of their opinions and beliefs.”

With almost 4, 000 performances at Glastonbury in 2025, “there will undoubtedly be artists and speakers on our stages who’s not sharing our views,” added Eavis.

What was Bob Vylan’s response?

In addition to addressing issues of racism, masculinity, and class, Bob Vylan, who formed in Ipswich in 2017, has released four albums. Despite reports, Bobby Vylan’s real name is 34-year-old Pascal Robinson-Foster.

Posting on Instagram, Vylan told his fans that he had been “inundated” with a mixture of “support and hatred” following the performance but that he stood by what he said and is calling for “a change in foreign policy” despite the the Israeli Embassy saying it was “deeply disturbed by the inflammatory and hateful rhetoric expressed on stage at the Glastonbury Festival”.

The musician wrote in a lengthy statement that read, “I said what I said,” that my daughter is typing loudly into a school survey to ask her about the state of her school dinners right now as I lay in bed this morning, my phone buzzing nonstop, inundated with messages of both support and hatred.

“She expressed that she would like healthier meals, more options and dishes inspired by other parts of the world. Listening to her voice her opinions on a matter that she cares about and affects her daily, reminds me that we may not be doomed after all.”

The only way to improve the world is to teach our children to speak up for the changes they need and want. It is crucial that we encourage and inspire future generations to carry the torch that was given to us as we get older and our fire may start to dwindle as a result of the suffocation of adult life and all its responsibilities.

Beauty and the Geek star charged with murder after boyfriend’s decapitated body found

According to reports, Julie Story’s burned-and-decapitated body was discovered at the residence he shared with his girlfriend Tamika Sueann-Rose Chesser, who has since been charged with her murder.

After her partner, 39-year-old Julian Story, was discovered decapitated in their South Australian home on June 19 following a minor blaze, former reality TV personality Tamika Sueann-Rose Chesser is the subject of a grisly murder investigation. Following an investigation by the authorities, 34-year-old beauty and the geek star Tamika was arrested on suspicion of murder.

According to reports, Julian’s charred and headless remains have been discovered in the bathroom of their Port Lincoln residence, and the detectives are still putting pieces together the puzzle of whereabouts. They are primarily looking for his missing head. Tamika’s arrest took place just 48 hours after her discovery, when police discovered her while she was sat motionless in a garden and appeared catatonic, according to legal documents.

According to The Telegraph’s briefing, Tamika is also accused of assaulting a police officer and meddling with human remains to obstruct justice.

Amidst their ongoing inquiry, officials have prompted the general public to provide assistance in locating Julian’s severed head, which they attest was detached subsequent to his supposed slaying in the late hours of June 17, reports the Daily Star.

Without going into great detail, Detective Superintendent Darran Fielke stated at a press briefing, “I can tragically say that we have not recovered the head of Julian Story.”

The senior detective also urged the public to comprehend the grief Julian’s family is experiencing during this ordeal: “I can only imagine, and I want you to imagine, the grief this news is causing Julian’s family.”

He asserted that the force’s main goal is to retrieve Julian’s head. He stated that “recovering Julian’s head and bringing it back to his family so they can have a peaceful outcome, have a funeral, and lay him to rest is a really important part of our lives.”

No clear cause for Tamika’s actions were revealed after she was discovered unconscious and under arrest.

Police are appealing to the woman for information on where Julian’s missing head is located as she is being sought after her dog was discovered on surveillance following the alleged murder.

I’m asking local residents to check any CCTV or dash cam footage that they may have in order to help with the investigation, according to Detective Superintendent Fielke in a plea.

In a significant turn of events, Magistrate Ben Sale on Friday revoked a previous court order that prevented Tamika’s identification and the details of the case.

Additionally, this action makes it possible to track down the status of the investigation and the allegations.

Tamika was denied bail and is still being held in a mental health detention facility after she was linked to a video link in court.

This December, Tamika is scheduled to make another court appearance.

Noel Gallagher’s brutal split with Meg Matthews as she reaches out to him before Oasis tour

The ultimate 90s It couple was Meg Mathews and Noel Gallagher, and here we look back at what went wrong for the now-freak-loving exes.

Meg Mathews claimed she suffered from PTSD after her brutal split from Noel Gallagher 25 years ago when he allegedly cheated on her. But it looks like the exes – who share 25-year-old daughter Anais – are on good terms these days.

As the countdown to the Oasis reunion tour begins this week – with their first comeback gig kicking off in Cardiff on Friday, July 4 – Meg has been posting throwback snaps with her former husband, who she was married to from 1997 to 2001.

The 59-year-old shared a photo of her and Noel kissing and said, “Remember the 90s when gigs were everything and my hair was skunky.” I made the decision to do a countdown from my favorite oasis gigs after 100’s of DMs asking for old photos. This is main road 1996″.

Another image showed the pair scurrying around in a Rolls-Royce, which Meg later purchased. She wrote, “I was almost having a panic attack when I was sitting on my Rolls-Royce thinking I was Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock because I had been drinking all night and going, Yeah!” I’ll accept it. What is the sign for “”?

Noel here getting ready for his first gig, according to Meg, “In 1996, Oasis were playing in huge inflatable footballs in front of the audience during their legendary Knebworth performances on August 10 and 11 before launching into songs like Columbia, Acquiesce, and Supersonic #2025Tour.”

Noel, 58, and her and a montage of photos from her and her just put the phrase “Oasis count Down MAD FOR IT” in her most recent throwback post.

Fans were asked to respond in the form of “Please tell us you are back together again” in the posts. Noel Gallagher and you are so beautiful, another wrote. It’s nice to see you still support and love your ex, said another. That bond is so beneficial. especially when you have a stunning daughter.

The exes, however, weren’t always so welcoming. In 1994, Meg and MTV presenter Rebecca de Ruvo reportedly met while they were living in London. Noel eventually left Rebecca for Meg despite the fact that he was dating her at the time.

In January 2000, Meg and Noel welcomed their only child, daughter Anais, in Las Vegas after getting married in June 1997. However, after Noel allegedly cheated on her with his second wife Sara MacDonald in the 2000 Ibiza nightclub Space, they were divorced in 2001.

Eight months after their daughter was born, the news was made. Later, Noel claimed to have fabricated the accusations to expedite his divorce.

Although Meg claimed she had Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of the divorce, according to reports, she received a $ 4 million divorce settlement. It is said that Hard-partying Meg, who was a member of Kate Moss and Sadie Frost’s infamous Primrose Hill set, had a meltdown.

During a 2020 interview with the Irish Mirror, Meg said: “I came through the marriage. Everything was public. At the end of the day I did not have the cog or the PR world that that person (Noel) had.

“My ex-wife was me,” I said. I lacked anyone. I had no idea what to do. I had a daughter, I had no one to contact me, and I wasn’t well-known.

“I once experience terrible PTSD.” I was the third woman author in the country in 1997. The Spice Girls, Lady Diana, and I were involved.

Post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms include anxiety, nightmares, and sleeping difficulties. In 2007, Meg admitted she had gotten too boozy and that her behavior had gotten out of hand.

It was then she decided to stop partying – but rehab also helped her finally come to terms with her divorce. She told The Sun: “I was in my early 40s when I realised that partying wasn’t for me any more and I had to get myself into a better situation.

You can’t continue to live that way forever, drinking and staying up all night, not eating well, and not eating well. There are times when enough is enough, but I don’t regret any of them. I don’t want to stutter around in 55 years.

She continued, “My divorce hadn’t been resolved. Noel and I both caused me heartache, but I couldn’t let anyone know how much it had hurt me. So I kept feigning it would matter for five years. I had to learn to let go of everything, from the rage to the bitterness to the emotion.

Meg still has well-known menopause campaigners in her day job like Kate Moss, but she still leads a quieter life in Cornwall. Since she’s reportedly single these days, a Meg and Noel reunion might be in order. Fans are enraged by it.

Alleged Cybercrime: Senator Natasha Arrives Abuja Court

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a governor of Kogi State, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio were detained at the Federal High Court Abuja on Monday morning for an arraignment on cybercrime allegations against them.

She was accompanied by her supporters, activist Aisha Yesufu, her husband, Emmanuel Uduaghan, and her supporters.

The case would be handled by Federal High Court Justice Mohammed Umar.

On June 19, 2025, Senator Natasha appeared in court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court for alleged defamation.

The judge turned down Senator Natasha’s request for her to be detained because she failed to show up for the trial at the previous hearing.

Read more about Natasha’s plea of not guilty to a charge of defamation and receives 50 million dollars in bail.

The government’s attorney, David Kaswe, admitted to having served the charge on her lawyer the same morning in the courtroom, and the judge rendered the decision.

It was therefore inconceivable for the Kogi Central Senator to be present in the courtroom because she had not previously received the charge or hearing notice. On that basis, he turned down the prosecution’s request for a bench warrant.
