Orlando Bloom was present at Bezos’ wedding, but Katy Perry was not. Now, a relationship expert shares the best ways to deal with losing friends following a breakup.

All eyes were on Venice last weekend as former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos tied the knot with former journalist Lauren Sanchez (now Lauren Bezos) in front of a star-studded guest list. However, there was one absence that was particularly noted.
Pop singer Katy Perry was not among the famous faces decorating the aisle – despite having recently gone into space with Lauren on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket. Although Katy was performing her Lifetimes Tour in Australia that weekend, her absence still caused speculation – especially seeing Orlando Bloom was in attendance after the pair’s alleged split.
One of the most talked-about romances in pop culture was between Katy and Orlando. After a mutually beneficial exchange at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016, the pair quickly struck up a relationship, which became official in May 2016. However, the relationship stumbled after the pair abruptly ended their relationship in 2017.

Then, on Valentine’s Day, they got engaged, and Katy confirmed that she was pregnant with Orlando’s child a year later. Before Covid struck, the pair were forced to postpone their wedding in Japan until they were wed. They gave birth to their first daughter in the summer of 2020.
However, five years on and the pair are allegedly no longer together after a decade of dating. A source told US Weekly : “Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable.” Their last sighting together was March 2025 at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

New bride Lauren mentioned how much she missed Katy on social media. Under a series of Instagram pictures posted by Katy’s account on June 27 showcasing highlights from her Australia tour, Lauren commented: “We miss you Katy.”

Of course, it’s still unclear whether Katy’s absence from the nuptials resulted from Orlando’s presence. However, it still has people talking about it on the internet: How do you cope with a breakup?
These relationship fractures can become even more glaringly obvious after a wedding, but they can still arise when planning group hangouts or dinner parties. In the wake of a messy breakup, the majority of us have made the painfully awkward choice between inviting two friends.
Hope Flynn is a relationship expert and the founder of So What? She reassures people that feeling hurt and conflicted is completely normal: “Losing friends after a breakup is more common than people realise and it can come as an unexpected second wave of grief.

Friends may feel uneasy about how to adjust after sharing a social circle with your ex, and some may distance themselves from it unintentionally.
However, it’s important to keep in mind that a friend’s absence is not always malicious, regardless of how hurtful it may be. Hope continues, “Hope adds:” Often, people find it difficult to come out during these emotional transitions, which can make one of the partners feel isolated.
“That being said, this time frequently reveals which friendships have true connections and care. Some relationships may fade peacefully, but others will deepen, giving people new insight.
Additionally, it might provide you with much-needed downtime. Hope goes on to say, “It’s also a chance to reconnect with yourself outside of the relationship and to begin building a network of friends that’s a reflection of who you are now, not just who you were as a couple.”

Despite the ebbs and flows of their 4-2 Club World Cup victory over Flamengo on Sunday, Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany praised his team’s unwavering attacking threat.
The Germans once again had a two-goal lead at 3-1, but the Brazilian club managed to keep the game alive on both occasions.
Former Manchester City captain Kompany was particularly impressed with how his team kept staying in the game despite his team’s resilience.
We always stay dangerous, he said to reporters, “I think that’s the key part of the game for me, which always remains a key part of the game.”
“Whether we were defending or whether we had the ball was irrelevant. If we could control the ball, we would always be dangerous. But he continued, “we were always on the counter in the situations where we appeared to be a team that could score at any time.”
“I believed we maintained our composure until we scored the goals just to relieve some pressure,” he said. The fans are a significant component of the game when these teams play. Similar to Boca, the two games are. For us, they play away games. And we must adapt and find a winning strategy, he said.
Kompany argued that a game’s ability to regain control of its momentum when an opponent is growing stronger is difficult to teach.
Better players,
It’s actually the hardest thing to coach, to put it mildly. I’ve also played professionally. You take responsibility at this time. No matter how talented your coach is, you must do it.
The key is to remain calm, they say. The players did it, as did the experience, but it’s also something we discuss.
“We can’t lose the game in five minutes because we had a bad period” or because we thought it was a ridiculous penalty,” we said.
Filipe Luis, the coach of the Flamengos, acknowledged that Bayern had no plans for his team.
“They put a lot of pressure on you,” they said. Eight or ten players are rushing at you. He claimed that they deserved to win.
Our plan did succeed because we applied pressure and created chances for goals, but they were better than us because we are playing against the elite, he said.
Luis again inquired about the quality disparity between the top European clubs and South American clubs, noting that the players’ transfer costs were a significant factor.
The best player in the world would have been Vinicius Jr. if he had not left for Real Madrid. They (South American players) are affluent in the elite, which is where they are. They are high-quality teams, he said, and if we had won today and the tournament, it would not change that fact.
For the second Test against India at Edgbaston, England have chosen an unchanged lineup, which will add another delay for Jofra Archer’s return.
After missing four years of service, Pace bowler Archer returned to the squad, but he had a family emergency that prevented him from attending Monday’s training session.
Before the second Test, which will begin on Wednesday, England announce that the 30-year-old will rejoin the squad in Birmingham on Tuesday.
Jasprit Bumrah, an option for the tourists, is available, according to India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate, but they may choose not to use him in the circumstances.
He was a member of the team that Headingley defeated in its first Test last week, and India has committed to playing him in just three of the five tests.
England XI: Shoaib Bashir, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (capt), Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, and Zak Crawley.
Archer, who became famous in 2019 and started playing in international competitions in 2019, hasn’t played a Test since 2021 due to a number of back and elbow injuries.
He played for Sussex in the County Championship last week, taking one wicket in 18 overs, and has since been carefully nursed back to fitness on a diet of white ball cricket.
After such mediocre first-class bowling, both former England captain Michael Vaughan and Sussex coach Paul Farbrace both warned against rushing Archer back to the Test field.
Archer will remain with the national team in the final two days of Sussex’ Championship game against Warwickshire, which was scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, and Chris Woakes, who are playing on his ground, will once again be England’s unchanged XI.
One of the England squad members from the time Archer made his international debut, Woakes, described him as “putting in some seriously hard yards to get himself back in shape and a physical state to be at his best.”
