Oasis announce limited last chance tickets for sale – but issue warning to fans

Oasis revealed they could release more tickets to their sold out shows in an exciting announcement shared on social media.

They said on X/Twitter: “As the shows are getting closer, Oasis promoters may be able to release a very limited number of additional tickets for sale once final sight lines are checked and the production is fine tuned. These final production releases will happen over the coming days. If you are an Oasismynet member, keep an eye on your inbox for an email from your regular Oasismynet or Ticketmaster correspondence address.”

Oasis added: “Please double check the email is from the correct account before following links or sharing any purchase information.”

Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher

Oasis are going on tour this summer

Fans were over the moon over the possibility of getting additional tickets to the highly-anticipated shows. One user said: “Shut up I’m gonna cry.” However, many briefly thought brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher had another falling out when they first got a glimpse of the announcement.

“My heart stopped I thought they broke up again,” one said and another added: “Almost had a heart attack.” One concerned user posted: “Long message I got scared they had a falling out.”

The announcement of more tickets comes after fans were warned about potential scams as they searched the internet in hopes of finding tickets for the reunion shows.

Some fans claimed they were targeted by scammers as they try to find tickets for the gigs, which will take place in Manchester, London, Cardiff and Edinburgh across July, August and September.

One woman had said: “He said his only condition was that I sent him selfies from the gig, and he even sent me GIFs of the band with the catch line ‘All Your Dreams Are Made’. And I thought they were. I thought he can’t be. He was a lovely lad, I thought. We had calls and Facetimed, and he was so personable. I just feel so embarrassed and ashamed.”

Oasis fans have been warned to be selective about where they buy their tickets. Not all these offers are genuine, with many coming from unverified brands and individual scammers on social media so fans have been warned.

In a bid to combat scams and ticket touts, the band have teamed up with Twickets for fans to resell tickets at face value to other fans.

Liam and Noel will be back together on stage for the first time in years after a backstage bust-up between the Gallagher brothers at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris in 2009, which led to a big fallout.

Liam recently discussed reuniting with his brother after feuding for years. One fan asked on X/Twitter : “How does it feel singing songs with ur brother again? Like old times? (sic)” The musician then replied: “You know what it’s spiritual but I can’t help think about all those wasted years, what a waste of PRECIOUS time (sic).”

No need to rush Archer back to Tests – Vaughan

To play this video you need to enable JavaScript in your browser.

Jofra Archer should not play in England’s second Test against India at Edgbaston, says former captain Michael Vaughan.

Archer played in his first first-class match for four years this week as he seeks to prove his fitness for a return to the Test arena, where he has not featured since 2021.

England selector Luke Wright said earlier this month that if Archer comes through the four-day game for Sussex he could be available for the second Test, which starts on 2 July.

“The good thing is that Jofra is back in the equation – but I’d like to see him play another four-day game”, said Vaughan, who is now a BBC Test Match Special pundit.

“He’s not played the longer format for four years so why, on the back of one game for Sussex against Durham, would you rush him back?

” We know the intensity at Test-match level is so different to county cricket. Let him play another four-day game – I would go with the same line-up, as long as the bowlers are fine and there are no niggles. “

Archer emerged as one of England’s most exciting prospects in 2019 when he bowled the decisive super over in the home World Cup win, before taking 22 wickets at 20.27 across four Tests in the Ashes series that followed.

But he has since been plagued by injury – an elbow issue first suffered in 2020 has required several surgeries and he also had a stress fracture in his back in 2022.

As a result, Archer’s frequent attempts to return to international cricket have been stop-start.

He was expected to play in the white-ball series against West Indies at the beginning of this summer but hurt his thumb while playing in the Indian Premier League.

Sussex start another County Championship game against Warwickshire on Sunday, which would overlap with the second Test – and Vaughan has backed the bowlers who played in the first Test to be selected again.

” Josh Tongue, the hoover, let him do that again at Edgbaston, “Vaughan said, referring to the Nottinghamshire seamer’s ability to knock over the lower order as he did in both innings at Headingley.

UFC 317: Topuria vs Oliveira – Start time, fight card, how to watch, venue

In what is arguably the biggest UFC bout of 2025, ex-featherweight champ Ilia Topuria and former-lightweight champ Charles Oliveira of Brazil clash for the vacant 155-pound (70-kilogramme) title at UFC 317.

Topuria, who is unbeaten, vacated his featherweight title earlier this year to move up to lightweight class with the original intension of fighting fellow superstar Islam Makhachev, ranked by ESPN as the best pound-for-pound UFC fighter in the world; Topuria is ranked number two.

Instead, the Georgian-Spaniard will now face another formidable opponent in the form of Oliveira, who holds multiple UFC records for most submission wins at 16, most finishes at 20 and most bonuses at 20.

Here is all to know ahead of the Topuria-Oliveira bout:

When and where is UFC 317?

  • UFC 317 is scheduled to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday.
  • The venue has a seating capacity of 20,000 for UFC events.
  • The main card is scheduled to begin at 02:00 GMT on Sunday (7pm PT / 9pm CT / 10pm ET on Saturday, 4am CEST on Sunday).
  • The ring walk for Topuria-Oliveira will occur at about 04:00 GMT (9pm PT / 11pm CT /12am ET on Saturday, 6am CEST on Sunday), and the headline fight will start shortly thereafter.

Why isn’t Topuria fighting Makhachev for the UFC lightweight title?

Makhachev vs Topuria would undoubtedly have been one of the greatest draws in UFC history – and it might still happen in the future.

Makhachev, who sports a stupendous 27-1 UFC record and is a four-time lightweight champion, announced in May that he would vacate his title and move up a weight class to the welterweight division to face newly-crowned title holder, Jack Della Maddalena. The date for that fight has yet to be announced.

Topuria, who relinquished his 145-pound (66kg) featherweight title earlier this year and had publicly expressed his desire to fight Makhachev at the heavier lightweight classification, initially voiced his displeasure at the champion vacating his title belt on May 13, accusing the Russian of running away from the challenge.

However, in a recent interview on The Ariel Helwani podcast, Topuria said he understood the reasons behind Makhachev’s decision.

“I don’t think he [Makhachev] is ducking me, to be honest,” Topuria said. “I would be lying to you if I told you that he’s ducking me. I think he’s tired of the weight cut [at lightweight division]. He wants a new challenge. He moved to the welterweight division. He feels and he thinks that he has a chance to become a double champion. I think that this is all he’s trying to do.”

How can Topuria win?

Topuria’s overall technical fighting talent and boxing capabilities are legendary, so Oliveira will need to be wary of trading blows with the powerful 28-year-old in the Octagon.

In 2024, Topuria sensationally knocked out two former all-time great UFC champions – Alexander Volkanovski and Max Holloway – to establish his dominance in a stacked featherweight division.

“Skill for skill, he might be the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world … all of his opponents have stood toe-to-toe, and all have fallen,” said MMA commentator Alan Jouban on ESPN.

“He [Topuria] will finish upstairs, and he’s got power that puts you to sleep,” added Jouban.

How can Oliveira win?

If Oliveira can win back the vacant lightweight belt on Saturday, he’ll deny Topuria joining a short list of legendary two-division champions.

Oliveira is one of the greatest lightweights of all-time and Topuria – a supremely-confident competitor – cannot make the mistake of underestimating the Sao Paulo native’s contrasting skillset.

The 35-year-old’s path to victory lies in his sublime ability to grapple with opponents. Oliveira’s ground game is impressive, and his 16 wins by submission – in a variety of ways – make him both a tricky and dangerous opponent for Topuria.

“I think, for Charles [Oliveira], he’s got to be in all the way or all the way out and try to force some grappling … he needs to get on top, he needs to make him [Topuria] wrestle. We haven’t seen [Topuria] have to do that much in the UFC yet,” said Paul Felder, former MMA fighter and current UFC commentator at ESPN.

Oliveira also has advantages in height (1.78m vs 1.7m) and reach (1.88m vs 1.75m), although el Matador, famously known for his strength in the featherweight division, will likely have a power advantage against the Brazilian, despite moving up a weight class.

Topuria Stats:

Topuria has a perfect 16-0 UFC record.

His last fight was at UFC 308 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on October 26, where he made good on his bold promise to become the first man to knock out Holloway.

“To beat a legend like Max Holloway, I don’t know what to say,” Topuria said at the time. “He’s been a great example for the generation. … I hope I’m gonna be a small example he has been for me for the new generation.”

  • Age: 28
  • Height: 5′ 7″ (1.7m)
  • Reach: 69 inches (1.75m)
  • Total fights: 16
  • Record: 16-0-0

Oliveria Stats:

Oliveira has a professional record of 35 wins and 10 losses, with one no-contest decision.

He endured a slow start to his career, winning only two of his first seven fights while fluctuating between different weight classes.

From 2018 to 2021, ‘Do Bronx’ reeled off a superlative 11-fight win streak that culminated in him being crowned the UFC lightweight champion after defeating Michael Chandler in the title bout.

He lost the lightweight title to Makhachev on October 22, 2022, when the Russian pulled off a sensational head-and-arm choke submission in the second round at UFC 280 in Abu Dhabi.

  • Age: 35
  • Height: 5′ 10″ (1.78m)
  • Reach: 74 inches (1.88m)
  • Total fights: 46
  • Record: 35-10-0 (1 NC)

What have Topuria, Oliveira said about the fight?

Topuria: “You can never count him out because he’s a dangerous guy,” Topuria said of Oliveira. “He has the most finishes in the UFC’s history. But I have faced those kind of situations many, many times, with [Alexander] Volkanovski, with Max Holloway”, he said.

“The skill development I’m bringing to this sport, they’ve never felt it, they never saw it. So this is what’s going to happen with Charles. He thinks that he has some opportunities, but the reality is that he [does] not. The only thing he has to do is show up, and I’ll do the rest.”

“I’m going to finish him in the first round”, Topuria added.

Oliveira: “In reality, I’m not very focused on what [Topuria] has been doing, but [rather] on what we can get and take,” he said.

“We are more than prepared for this fight. [Topuria] is a tough opponent, but I know the firepower I have in my hands.

“I’ll go all in, I have a promise to be fulfilled, and I’m going to get this belt.”

Who is fighting in the co-main event?

A second UFC title is at stake in the co-main event when Brazil’s Alexandre Pantoja takes on Kai Kara-France for the flyweight championship.

Pantoja, the reigning flyweight champion, is defending his title against the dynamic striking New Zealander nine years after the pair first clashed in an Ultimate Fighter: Tournament of Champions bout.

Pantoja won the first fight back in 2016 but its fair to say both competitors have progressed substantially since then.

Main fight card

  • Lightweight (title) – Ilia Topuria vs Charles Oliveira
  • Flyweight (title) – Alexandre Pantoja vs Kai Kara-France
  • Lightweight – Beneil Dariush vs Renato Moicano
  • Flyweight – Brandon Royval vs Joshua Van
  • Middleweight – Paulo Costa vs Roman Kopylov

Court says Australian broadcaster ABC wrongfully dismissed journalist

Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) unlawfully dismissed a radio journalist over a social media post related to Israel’s war on Gaza, a court has said.

The ABC fired radio host Antoinette Lattouf in December 2023 for expressing views supporting Palestine and calling for Israel to end its bombardment of Gaza. The sacking came shortly after she posted on social media a Human Rights Watch report alleging that Israel was using starvation as a weapon of war in Gaza.

Lattouf took legal action after being dismissed three days into a five-day casual contract with the ABC.

The broadcaster broke employment law by terminating her “for reasons including that she held political opinions opposing the Israeli military campaign in Gaza”, Federal Court Justice Darryl Rangiah said in his ruling on Wednesday.

ABC senior management’s consternation over the post (by HRW on Instagram) turned into a “state of panic”, the judge said, and a decision was made to take her off the air “within the hour”.

The broadcaster has apologised after being ordered to pay Antoinette Lattouf  $70,000 Australian dollars ($45,000) in compensation, with a further financial penalty yet to be decided.

“We regret how the decision to remove Ms Lattouf from air was handled and the distress occasioned her,” ABC managing director Hugh Marks said.

“It’s clear the matter was not handled in line with our values and expectations,” he added in a statement.

“We also let down our staff and audiences, and this failure has caused understandable concern among the public and inside the organisation,” he added.

Since Israel’s war on Gaza began in October 2023, journalists across the globe have been fired for expressing solidarity towards Palestinians.

Jackson Frank, a sports reporter in Philadelphia, was fired by PhillyVoice.com because of his tweets supporting the Palestinian cause.

Zahraa al-Akhrass was dismissed by her employer, Canada’s Global News, due to her social media posts drawing attention to the suffering of the Palestinians.

Kasem Raad was fired from his job at Welt TV, a subsidiary of German media company Axel Springer, for questioning internal pro-Israel policies.

Big Tech companies including Google and Microsoft have also fired employees who have called on the companies to withdraw their support of Israel.

Last April, Google fired 28 employees following a sit-down protest over the tech giant’s contract to provide cloud computing and artificial intelligence services to the Israeli government.

From Beijing To Rihanna’s Bag: How Labubu Dolls Became Global Fashion Sensation

Chinese toy company Pop Mart’s Labubu monster dolls have conquered the world, attracting enthusiastic crowds at international stores, and adorning the handbags of celebrities like Rihanna and Cher.

Pop Mart, based in Beijing, is a part of a growing trend of Chinese cultural exports reaching other countries, furry “cool” Chinese ambassadors even in regions with less favorable public opinion of Beijing.

Buyers don’t know the model they will receive, so Labubus, which typically sell for around $40, are limited editions and packaged in “blind boxes.”

Also available are Sanchez’s Whirlwind Romance and The Billionaire and The TV Anchor: Bezos.

At a Pop Mart store in London, where in-person sales of Labubus have been suspended over concerns that fans might become violent while searching for the toys, interior designer Lucy Shitova told AFP that the dolls are “a bit quirky, ugly, and very inclusive, so people can relate.”

“Everything is now viral thanks to social media,” he said. It’s cool, yes. It’s unique.

China’s highly censored film and music industry has struggled to draw in international audiences, and its neighboring East Asian nations South Korea and Japan are world-renowned for their high-end fashion, cinema, and pop songs. The country’s best-known clothing exporter is Shein, a fast-fashion website.

There aren’t many success stories of Chinese businesses operating under their own brands when confronted with the myths of subpar and subpar goods.

The University of Maryland’s Fan Yang told AFP, “It has been difficult for the world’s consumers to perceive China as a brand-creating nation.”

Pop Mart has reversed the trend, creating detailed YouTube videos on how to verify a doll’s authenticity and copycats that have been dubbed as “lafufus” on social media.

Over the past few years, Chinese handbag manufacturer Songmont, Shanghai-based Marchen, and designer womenswear label Shushu/Tong have also gained recognition abroad.

According to Yang, “It might just be a matter of time before even more Chinese brands become widely recognizable.”

TikTok effect

According to Allison Malmsten, an analyst at China-based Daxue Consulting, China is “undergoing a soft-power shift where its products and image are increasingly cool among young Westerners” thanks to viral exports like Labubu.

According to Malmsten, she argued that social media could help China’s reputation abroad, “similar to what Japan did with Pokemon and Nintendo in the 1980s and 1980s.”

The video app TikTok, which was created by China’s ByteDance, helped catapult Labubu’s ascent, becoming the first product to be sold under the Chinese brand internationally.

According to Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) member Joshua Kurlantzick, “TikTok probably played a role in changing consumers’ views about China.”

More than one billion people use TikTok, which is currently blocked in China, according to the company, who roughly make up nearly half of the country’s population.

With a proposed ban forcing American TikTok users to migrate to another Chinese app, Rednote, where they were welcomed as digital “refugees,” the app has come into the national security spotlight in the United States.

TikTok hosts over 1.7 million videos about Labubu, which serves as a source for Chinese social media memes and fashion trends.

Cultural exports can “improve the reputation of China as a country with businesses that can produce globally appealing goods or services,” according to CFR’s Kurlantzick.

He cited South Korea’s undeniable soft power, noting how much, if at all, this has an impact on images of China’s state or government.

The United States’ chaotic global image under the Trump presidency might help perceptions of China, according to Yang, a professor at the University of Maryland.

According to her, “the link that many people make between the apparent decline of US soft power and the potential rise in China’s global image may reflect how deeply ingested the two are in the minds of those whose lives are impacted by both at once,” she told AFP.

At the very least, Labubu’s charms give the impression that younger people are interested in China.

It resembles a virus, it is. Anelya Batalova, a mother-of-three from Kazakhstan and an exhibit at Pop Mart’s theme park in Beijing, told AFP: “Everyone just wants it.

In front of a gigantic Labubu statue, 11-year-old Qatari Maryam Hammadi posed for photos.

They adore Labubu in our country, she said.
