A car once owned by Noel Gallagher has gone on sale priced at £1.2 million. The Oasis guitarist’s 1997 Bentley Turbo R has been listed, with it teased that the red vehicle is set to “strike a chord” with both fans and car collectors.

The four-door saloon car listed on Auto Trader was previously owned by Noel, 58, although he can’t drive. He once suggested that he gave up learning to drive after being mobbed by children whilst parked near a school on a lesson.

Speaking about the sale, Erin Baker, editorial director at Auto Trader, told PA: “Cars listed by music legends don’t come around very often, and Noel Gallagher’s Bentley Turbo R is certainly one for the Auto Trader history books.”

They teased that it’s expected to attract attention. Erin told the outlet: “With over 80 million visits to Auto Trader every month, we expect this rock ‘n’ roll ride to strike a chord with music lovers and car collectors alike.”

The car has the number plate ‘OASI6 2’. It’s in reference to the Britpop band Oasis, which was formed by the likes of Noel’s brother Liam Gallagher in 1991.

Noel has previously spoken about having once learned to drive. He spoke about his experience to Zoe Ball whilst a guest on her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show two years ago.

Speaking about his driving lesson in the 1990s, he said in 2023: “I have had one driving lesson in the 90s and I was driving round a housing estate in Slough and [the instructor] said to me, ‘if you just indicate and pull over here’ then I pulled over.”

He shared: “She got out the car she said, ‘I’ll be back in a minute’, she came out with her mum, she drove me to her house. Then the local comprehensive bell went and they all came out. This is at the height of Oasis-mania and I was like, ‘never, never again’.”

As previously reported, Noel said on the radio show that he had been learning in a red Nissan Micra at the time. He recalled the vehicle having a “great big triangle on the top of it with an L”.

The news comes ahead of Oasis reuniting for a run of gigs this year in the UK and Ireland. The tour was announced last summer and comes following the disbanding of the group in 2009.

The tour will launch at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium next month. It will then be at Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium and Dublin’s Croke Park, over the course of July, August and September.

The group is then set to embark on a world tour. It includes gigs in Asia, South America, Australia and North America.

Assaults: Police Deploy Additional Operatives To Mushin Area Of Lagos

In the state’s renowned Mushin district, additional personnel has been dispatched by the Lagos State Police Command.

Members of the Mushin community have raised concerns about the recent incidents of daylight assaults, harassment, and stealing from shops and innocent people from the streets of Mushin by teenage miscreants and hoodlums, according to the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin.

Hundeyin asserts that the area was invaded by street advocates who ranged in age from 14 to 16 years old.

These reports provide a thorough analysis of our operational tactics and strategies. Olohundare Jimoh, the commissioner of police for Lagos State, has immediately dispatched more police tactical squads, Police Mobile Force (PMF) personnel, and other conventional police teams to Mushin and the surrounding areas to investigate these miscreants’ activities, arrest them, and bring them to justice, according to the spokesman.

Residents are encouraged to go about their lawful business and other activities without fear or apprehension, and normalcy has been completely restored to Mushin and all other affected areas, according to him.

The Commissioner of Police has also given the Area Commander in Mushin a mandate to meet with the two local government chairmen who cover the entire region to plan actions to further enhance security and safety for the residents and traders in general.

In addition, the command has raided criminal hideouts and discovered black areas in Ishaga, Awolowo, and Ojuwoye markets where 23 of the alleged attackers are detained for allegedly stealing from shops and innocent people in the Mushin area.

The suspects are currently being looked into and will be charged soon.

These operational raids will continue until the area is completely rid of these miscreants and hoodlums.

Fernandes Rejects Mouth-Watering Saudi Move To Stay At Manchester United

Apparently, Bruno Fernandes chose to join Ruben Amorim’s rebuild at Old Trafford instead of accept a sizable offer to leave Manchester United for the Saudi Pro League.

Al Hilal reportedly offered United up to $ 100 million ($135 million) for the 30-year-old Portugal international, but they had not yet made an official approach.

United finished 15th overall, which was their worst performance of the Premier League era. Additionally, Tottenham won the Europa League championship match.

With 19 goals and 19 assists in all competitions, United captain Fernandes was one of the few players to emerge with credit after a terrible season.

After losing to Spurs last month in Bilbao, the midfielder addressed his future.

Football can sometimes be like this, he said, “But if the club thinks it’s time to part ways because they want to do some cashing in or whatever,” he said.

Manager Amorim, however, last week expressed his confidence that his countryman would continue playing at Old Trafford as speculation raged over his future.

Gary Neville, a former United captain and current Sky Sports pundit, described the development as “significant.”

You couldn’t say that it would have been a bad deal, he said, “I think there was a component of this situation that meant United getting that level of money, obviously, for someone of Bruno’s age.”

“On the other hand, Bruno Fernandes has been Manchester United’s star player for the past four, five, and six years, and that’s just one player.” He is very significant.

Neville continued, “To turn that money down at a time when Manchester United is at their lowest ebb and say, “No, I want to fight through this, I want to see it through the other side, I want to come out and achieve things,” I think it says a lot about him as a person and as a character.

The club needs “people who are going to run through a brick wall for them,” the club says.

As Amorim revamps his underperforming squad, United are expected to be busy in the transfer market.

The club has already signed Brazilian international Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford and Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Alejandro Garnacho might make the trip.

Since making a £47 million move from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020, Fernandes has started 290 games and scored 98 goals for United.

Inzaghi leaves Inter Milan amid Saudi Pro League interest

Simone Inzaghi has announced that he will leave Inter Milan following the Italian club’s defeat in the Champions League final, and amid heavy interest in his services from the Saudi Pro League.

The 5-0 rout by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the final of European football’s premier club competition on Saturday was Inzaghi’s final game in charge of the Serie A runners-up.

“The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a run of four years during which I gave everything”, Inzaghi wrote in a letter to Inter fans on the club’s website on Tuesday.

The loss to PSG on Saturday marked the most lopsided defeat in the 70-year history of major European finals.

Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal is reportedly trying to lure Inzaghi with an offer of more than 20 million euros ($23m) per season.

Inzaghi coached Inter to the Serie A title last year, and was also in charge when the Nerazzurri lost the 2023 Champions League title to Manchester City.

He was at Inter for exactly four years and had one more season remaining on his contract.

It’s unclear now who will coach Inter at the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States starting June 14.

Inter opens against Monterrey on June 17 — a day before Al-Hilal opens against Real Madrid.

There has been speculation that Inter would go after Cesc Fabregas, who coached Como to a 10th-place finish in Serie A.

Inter finished second in the Italian league last month, one point behind champion Napoli.

The Milan-based football club was in the running for a treble until it lost to city rival AC Milan in the Italian Cup semifinals in April. Having also been beaten by Milan in the Italian Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia in January, the Nerazzurri didn’t win a trophy this season.

South Korea election results 2025: Who won, who lost, what’s next?

Lee Jae-myung, the candidate for the opposition Democratic Party, is poised to become South Korea’s next president after provisional results of a snap election showed him on course for a comfortable win.

The election was triggered by former President Yoon Suk-yeol’s short-lived imposition of martial law in December.

The 61-year-old Lee is expected to be sworn in on Wednesday, becoming the country’s 14th president after defeating Kim Moon-soo of the conservative People Power Party (PPP). The South Korean president serves a single five-year term without the possibility of re-election.

The PPP’s Yoon was impeached and removed from office in early April for his martial law debacle. The shock move sparked weeks of protests and investigations and made Yoon South Korea’s shortest-serving president.

Here is what you need to know about Tuesday’s election and its impact:

Who won South Korea’s presidential election?

With 85 percent of the ballots counted, the National Election Commission (NEC) said provisional results showed Lee winning more than 48 percent of the votes with Kim at 42.9 percent.

Although the NEC is yet to formally declare a winner, Kim has conceded defeat and congratulated Lee on his win.

Shortly before Kim’s concession, Lee emerged outside his house in Seoul, where throngs of supporters had gathered. Lee told them he was “highly likely to become the president”.

Nearly 80 percent of the country’s 44.4 million eligible voters cast ballots – the highest turnout since 1997, according to the NEC.

Earlier, exit polls by South Korea’s three major TV stations – KBS, MBC and SBS – projected a comfortable win for Lee. The exit polls projected more than 50 percent of the vote for the opposition candidate and 39 percent for Kim.

Trailing behind them was Lee Jun-seok of the conservative New Reform Party. Analysts said Kim underperformed, hurt by his ties to Yoon and his failure to persuade Lee Jun-seok to unify the right-wing vote. By late on Tuesday, Lee Jun-seok also had conceded defeat.

Who is Lee Jae-myung, South Korea’s new president?

Lee – who served as governor of South Korea’s most populous province, Gyeonggi, and mayor of Seongnam near the capital, Seoul – is a divisive figure. This election marked the human rights lawyer-turned-politician’s third attempt to secure the presidency.

Lee lost the last presidential election to Yoon by the slimmest margin in the country’s democratic history. He went on to lead the Democratic Party to a landslide victory in last year’s legislative elections and was the driving force behind the opposition-led campaign to remove Yoon from office.

During the six-hour martial law period, Lee scaled the National Assembly walls to bypass military blockades, livestreamed his entry and urged citizens to protest. Nearly two-thirds of the lawmakers ultimately made it past the barricades to vote unanimously to end the emergency measures.

Despite his critics calling him a dangerous populist, Lee has promised to pursue pragmatic diplomacy: calling South Korea’s alliance with the United States the foundation of its foreign policy and promising to solidify a Seoul-Washington-Tokyo partnership, a stance that is not much different from the position held by the conservatives.

He has preached patience over US President Donald Trump’s tariff policy, arguing it would be a mistake to rush negotiations in pursuit of an early agreement with Washington.

Lee has also pledged to improve relations with rival North Korea, including reopening dialogue, restoring military hotlines and reviving denuclearisation talks.

The East Asian country’s deep-seated economic inequality is another issue Lee has promised to fix. He has advocated for a four-and-a-half-day workweek in a country known for its demanding work culture.

Lee is facing five ongoing trials related to corruption and other criminal charges. Most of these cases have been delayed until after the election. He denies any wrongdoing and says the charges are politically motivated.

How did Lee win?

Lee capitalised on his role as an opposition member by standing against Yoon’s martial law bid and promising to guide the country out of its political and economic turmoil.

Experts said Yoon also left the PPP in crisis as infighting plagued the party when it tried to choose his successor.

Although Kim won the party primary, PPP leaders tried to replace him with former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo. On the eve of the party’s campaign launch, they cancelled Kim’s candidacy, only to reinstate him after party members opposed the move.

Youngshik Bong, research fellow at Yonsei University in Seoul, said the infighting as well as divisions in the conservative camp over Yoon’s decree cost it support.

“Kim Moon-soo has not set his position clearly on the martial law declaration,” Bong said. “He has not distanced himself from the legacy of Yoon, but at the same time, he has not made it clear whether he believes the declaration of martial law was a violation of the constitution. So the PPP has not really had enough energy to mobilise its support bases.”

What were the key issues in the election?

The botched martial law cast a shadow over the election. It put Lee, after his loss to Yoon in 2022, back on track for the presidency.

“This election would not have happened if not for the declaration of martial law by Yoon Suk-yeol and his impeachment,” Bong said. “These issues have sucked in all others like a vortex. Everything else is marginal.”

On the campaign trail, Lee pledged to bring to justice anyone involved in Yoon’s failed martial law bid and to introduce tighter controls on the president’s ability to declare martial law.

A slowing economy, challenges posed by Trump’s America First policies and worsening ties with North Korea were other topics that mattered to the voters.

What is the significance of Lee’s win? What’s next?

Lee is to take his oath of office on Wednesday morning. The certification process is expected to take no more than 10 minutes.

Norwich appoint Bristol City’s Manning as new head coach

Rex Features

Norwich City have appointed Bristol City boss Liam Manning as their new head coach on a four-year contract.

Manning had been in charge at Ashton Gate since November 2023 and led the Robins to this season’s play-offs, only to lose 6-0 on aggregate to Sheffield United.

He replaces Johannes Hoff Thorup, who was sacked by Norwich on 22 April with the team 14th in the Championship following a run of six defeats in eight games.

First-team coach Jack Wilshere, the former Arsenal and England midfielder, was put in interim charge for the final two games of the season, but he also left after learning he would not be considered for the permanent post.

“I’m privileged and honoured to have the opportunity to work for this fantastic football club. It’s a wonderful club with a big history and tradition,” said Manning.

“It’s clear, there has already been a lot of valuable groundwork laid in recent seasons – it’s now important we build further on that and move the club forward.”

Manning’s contract at Bristol City ran until the end of next season and the Canaries have paid an undisclosed sum to meet a release clause in order to bring him in.

The 39-year-old was born in Norwich and played for the club’s academy before joining Ipswich Town – but he never made a senior appearance for them and spent most of his career in non-league football.

His first coaching job was at West Ham and he then took charge of Belgian club Lommel in 2020 before returning to England as MK Dons head coach the following year.

He guided them to the League One play-offs in 2022 and subsequently had an eight-month spell at Oxford United, who were second in the third tier when he accepted an offer to move on to Bristol City.

Despite Bristol City having the smallest squad in the Championship this past season, Manning guided them to their first play-off finish in 17 years, largely built on a strong foundation of home form and squad togetherness.

Only promoted Burnley and Leeds, and play-off finalists Sheffield United bettered their record at home of 13 wins, seven draws and three defeats.

‘Liam’s ambitions match our own’

Last November, Mark Attanasio, whose Norfolk FB Holdings group are now the majority shareholders at Carrow Road, set a target of a return to the top flight in “three to five years” and Manning’s task now will be to try and achieve that ahead of schedule.

“This is an exciting appointment, and we are so happy to get it over the line and have him on board,” said sporting director Ben Knapper.

“It quickly became clear that Liam’s ambitions match our own and we are all committed to driving this club forward towards our targets.

“Liam knows the league, has consistently demonstrated an ability to outperform resources and his approach aligns with our footballing ideas and strategy.

“He is an exceptionally bright coach who will push himself, and everyone around him, to develop and improve. We are so excited to have him as a key part of our club.”

Former Wolves boss Gary O’Neil and ex-Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders were also spoken to and considered for the head coach role.

Analysis – ‘first Norwich-born boss’

By Chris Goreham, BBC Radio Norfolk’s Norwich City commentator

Norwich City’s extensive search for a new head coach has led to the club’s first ever Norwich-born boss.

Liam Manning’s formative years as a Carrow Road season-ticket holder are a nice extra but it’s not why he’s been appointed.

Canaries sporting director Ben Knapper has expressed frustration that they fell so far short of the play-offs last season. “When I look at the teams that did make it, it confirms that kind of belief,” he said.

Envious eyes were being cast in the direction of Ashton Gate where Liam Manning’s well coached team was outperforming the sum of its parts.
